(A heads up, I am going to be posting one chapter at a time from this point on. Yes I have many, many more chapters to post. I am just doing this to slow things down a bit.)

Chapter 26

JW walked out of the shower and tossed his towel next to his new dresser. Grabbed a brown shirt, grey khaki shorts and a blue pair of trunks. JW was about to put his khaki's on when he saw Marcus coming to the room, look at him in his trunks and grin.

JW shook his head and pulled on his shorts, "Shower fast you smelly whore." Marcus rubbed his ass, shook his head and walked into the bathroom. JW walked into the living room with his parents.

They were talking quietly and he stood there, "What?" Hank laughed and told him to sit down. The three of them talked about Marcus, his parents were concerned about JW making such a radical move and reassured him that they support him.

Donna asked about his kids again and he shrugged and told them about the conversation he had earlier with his ex. Hank looked obviously mad and Donna just sat there with a blank look.

Hank sighed and looked to JW, "Well I can't believe that she can do this. The first time we met you two she would sit there and just badger you, I am surprised that it took so long before you slapped some sense into her."

Donna jerked her head to Hank, "Jesus Hank, that is horrible thing to say."

Hank shook his head, "Well what do you think?"

Donna looked to JW, "Well she was a really terrible person."

Marcus walked out of the hallway with his hair still wet wearing a white tee shirt, blue jeans and flip-flops. They all got into Marcus Infiniti and he asked JW for a good place to eat in town. JW recommended the place where they ate together the first time and Marcus drove to the Italian restaurant. They were all seated and Marcus as usual did a great job of breaking any odd silence and started to ask JW's parents questions. JW could not believe how out going and personal Marcus could be, he thought to himself how his father always belittled gay men and would never come with in fifty feet of a guy he thought was gay.

Soon the topic turned to Marcus and how he could afford so much. By the time food was brought to them Marcus had already agreed to look at JW's parents personal finances and offered his opinion. Hank and Donna just looked at each other and didn't know what to say? Marcus explained that they had nothing to lose to just let him take a look. By the time everyone was done eating Marcus was explaining a new idea of his to propose to his company, he was talking fast and technical and everyone was lost.

JW reached over and grabbed Marcus arm, "None of us understand what your saying."

Marcus stopped and blinked his eyes, "Sorry that happens some times, I get into the groove and can't seem to find my out of it."

Donna looked over to Hank and then back to Marcus, "I am not saying that you wont have a great personal relationship and that it wont last, but what if you two do have a falling out? Then what would happen to us and our retirements? What your offering is really serious, we don't make a lot of money and what little we have can not be lost due to a lovers quarrel."

Marcus nodded his head and took a sip of water, "You bring up an extremely important issue. What if I told you that I manage the accounts of a lot of my ex lovers?"

Donna shook her head, "Why would you do that?"

Marcus continued to explain that because of his childhood he could never actually hurt anyone and just because something did not work out does not mean that it has to be the end of the world.

Hank and Donna looked at each other and Donna said, "You know what, it wont hurt for you to just take a look."

Marcus smiled and then asked with a smile about JW's childhood. It seemed the turn the room into ice, JW looked down at the table and his parents looked blankly at Marcus. Luckily the waitress walked up and asked about desserts and Marcus ordered for everyone.

The waitress walked away and Marcus said, "So how about it, what was JW like as a kid?" Donna gave a faint smile and Hank stared off into the distance.

Marcus leaned back in his chair, "Look we are both damaged," he pointed at himself and then JW, "That doesn't mean that it was all shit. One of my favorite memories from what I was a kid oddly enough was with my birth mother. One day she was not whacked out of her mind, sober enough to walk out the front door and I remember we were on the front porch when an ice cream truck was coming down the street. She flagged the driver down, he stopped and scooped out two chocolate ice cream cones. We sat there and ate them just like any family would on that hot afternoon."

Hanks hands relaxed, "Well I particularly loved the baseball games in the spring and summer. John was damn good at baseball. But his first year of tee ball, the helmets way to big for the kids heads," he started to laugh, "it was sitting so low on their foreheads they couldn't even see the tee with the ball on it. I don't think a single hit the ball, everyone one of them hit the tee."

Marcus laughed and Donna looked to JW, "You are such a good son, you always did exactly what you were told and never had to be told to do it twice and I never remember you complaining about it. But do you remember the day I told you to take the trash out and you absolutely refused to do it?"

JW had a blank look on his face and the memory came across his mind, "I sure do. The bee's nest!"

Donna started to laugh, "It was so horrible, he said there were bee's out there but I made him take the trash to throw it away, I thought he was making it up so he didn't have to do it. He got stung so many times and ended up having to go to the ER. Of course after that he was so mad at me that he would not talk to me for a week after that." The good times stories continued well after dessert.

Hank looked at Marcus and asked about his parents. Marcus just smiled and explained how eccentric they were and how strict of a routine they lived, but it was perfect for him. It was exactly what he needed to adjust to a normal life after his eight years with his birth mother. Donna asked if he had any brothers or sisters and Marcus laughed, "Well I don't know of any biological but when I was adopted my parents were already pretty old to be taking on a train wreck of a eight year old boy. But yes I have two brothers and two sisters who all hate me to the core."

Marcus went on to explain that his brothers and sisters all one way or another had major fall outs with his parents and when his parents died they made sure that Marcus received everything through their will. Marcus shook his head, "Actually their death was two kinds of hell to be honest. The obvious was loosing them, the second was the law suits from my family."

Hank looked at him, "Are they the extended family you were talking about? Doing their finances?" Marcus nodded his head and explained that it was basically the right thing to do and to shut them up he gave them a lot of the things his parents owned.

Hank looked to Marcus, "So what if I told you even though I like you so far, that this whole thing just makes me uncomfortable, even though I will support you two no matter what. But I want you to have nothing to do with our retirement, it makes me extremely uncomfortable and the fact is I just dont know you."

Marcus nodded his head and shrugged, "Does anyone handle your investments now?" Hank nodded his head and Marcus asked, "You ever sat down over dinner with him and talk about your investments?" Hank shook his head and Donna laughed.

Marcus sighed, "Look I am not saying let me do anything other than just look at your investments and retirement at this time. Thats all I want to do." Hank appeared to settle on that statement and relaxed.

More time passed and the group continued to make small talk when Hank leaned forward in his chair, "I hate to do this but with you two in a relationship. How well do you two think you will be able to get along?" Donna glared at Hank and shook her head.

Marcus looked to JW and grabbed his hand and then looked to his parents, "What happened to your son was a horrible thing. Don't blame yourselves though, its clichŽ to say this but bad things happen to good people. The truth is horrible things happen to kids and the fact is that no one can control that, it took me a long time to realize and cope with that fact. On the same note we can't control whom we fall in love with either. I know you two are going to need time to adjust to this, but don't judge JW for this. Please give us time to prove to you that we do love each other."

Marcus sighed, "I just ask for your patients, let us prove to you that we are not evil, bad, misguided or screwed up in the head. JW is a good man, a loving man, a kind man, an accomplished successful man and you should be proud of him regardless of who he calls his lover. Let me prove to you that I am worthy of being in love with your son." JW squeezed Marcus hand.

Donna reached over with her hand and slowly grabbed Hanks hand on top of the table. JW's parents made eye contact with each other and then looked back to Marcus. Nothing was said, nothing needed to be said and Marcus looked to JW and nodded his head.

A few quiet seconds passed and Marcus said, "Well I guess its time to get out of here. What do you guys want to do?" Everyone shrugged and Marcus suddenly said, "JW's new phone! We have to get that activated!"

Marcus did his best to hurry everyone out of the restaurant and into his Infiniti. The AT&T store was about to close but Marcus ran to the door as an employee was about to lock the door, "Can you take one more, please?"

Marcus looked at the teenager and knew he didn't care about customer service but he sighed and said, "Sure come on in."

Marcus told JW to give the clerk his new phone and old phone. The teenager worked fast and after a few minutes he handed JW both phones and slid him a piece of paper, "Sign here, here and here."

JW filled out the paper and the teenager was rambling in the background. After the paper work was filled out Marcus and JW walked out of the store and back to the car. JW was laughing, "I don't know how the fuck I am going to afford this. My phone bill just went up almost $100.00 a month."

Marcus smiled and opened the car door, "If its ok with you, I had them put your on my phone plan. So I actually have the bill." Marcus climbed into the car and JW followed.

JW buckled his seat belt; "You know that pisses me off when you do that?"

Marcus smiled and started the car, "I am just taking care of you, whether you like it or not." JW parents were laughing in the back seat, he looked at them and suddenly he was embarrassed, his face was red.

Marcus asked what to do next and no one had any suggestions, so Marcus made the turns to drive back to his house. As they drove back to the house Marcus laughed to himself at how crazy the day was. Marcus opened the garage door and everyone started to make their way into the house when JW's new phone rang, he picked it up, looked at it and waved everyone to go inside, "What do you need now? To gloat more?"

JW's ex-wife was quiet on the other end of the phone and then he heard a whisper, it was his daughter. "Dad something is wrong with mom, can you help her?"

JW's heart raced, "Can you put her on the phone?"

His daughter said, "She cant talk right now."

JW asked, "What about your grandma or grandpa? Are they there?"

His daughter was now crying and sniffled, "They are out of town."

JW knew that if his wife found out their daughter called him she would fly off the hook but his daughter said, "She is really sick, she is laying on the floor and shaking."

JW told his daughter that he would be there right away, to stand at the front door. JW yelled into the living room that something is wrong and he had to go. JW jumped in his car and couldn't get the garage door to open, he started cursing and jumped out of the car, Marcus was standing at the door way and gave him a confused look.

JW yelled, "Open the fucking door, my family needs me right now!"

Marcus had a blank look on his face and JW yelled again, "Now god damn it, right fucking now! Open the god damn door." Marcus opened the door with his phone and JW backed out of the garage and the tires of his car screeched down the street. Marcus walked into the drive way to watch JW speed away.

JW called 911 on the way to his ex-wife parents house and stopped at the front, he could see his daughter who had opened the front door and was running to him. JW ran to her and she jumped into his arms, she was sobbing. JW held her for a second and put her back on the ground, "Do you know where your brother and sister are at right now?"

She nodded her head, "OK good, I want you to go to them, I want you to sit with them the whole time ok?"

She nodded her head, still crying hard, "You have to stop crying too, it will just scare them. Now go with them and be strong for them ok."

JW ran to the front door and his daughter was behind him, "Where is your mom?"

She pointed to the kitchen and then JW said, "Go to your brothers and sisters!"

His daughter turned and ran up stairs. JW walked into the kitchen and saw his ex-wife lying on the floor on her back, she was a wreck. She was soaked in sweat, lying in a pool of vomit, her eyes rolled back in her head and she was shaking. JW had seen a lot of over doses at his job and knew she needed the ambulance.

JW picked his ex up in his arms and carried her outside to the front lawn and turned her on her side, there was nothing he could do. It felt like hours but the ambulance showed up and the medics took over and JW stood to the side. After the medics loaded his ex into the ambulance JW walked back into the house and gathered his kids up and took them outside to the front steps of the house.

Police were outside and walked up and started to ask questions. JW explained what was going on and the police started to make the report. The ambulance left and JW had to reassure his daughters that his ex was going to be just fine, but JW knew she was in seriously bad shape. JW asked if he could go inside and grab a few of his kids things? The police escorted him through the house and he gave them his address. JW put his kids into his car, grabbed the car seat from his ex's car and headed back to Marcus house.

JW called Marcus and asked him to open the garage door again, JW pulled into the garage and stepped out, Marcus looked more than angry, "What the fuck was that about? I thought you had a nervous break down or something."

JW smiled and nodded his head at the other car door opening. Marcus saw blond hair bouncing above the car hood. Marcus threw his hands over his mouth and apologized while JW let his second daughter out of the car and then grabbed his son from the car seat. The kids were huddling around JW when his youngest daughter asked, "Why are we here? This isn't your house."

JW bent down and smiled, "Nope, I moved into another house." Then JW grinned, "You want to see your grandma and grandpa? They are inside." The girls screamed and ran into the house.
