Chapter 30
March Stephenson
Maxieplus
I had explained to May later on when she dropped him back that even I could hear her music and her talking in the gym. She did say she will tone it down, but I stuck to my guns about having Mason all the time in there, he needs his sleep.
"I hate it when March's right."
"We all do, but you got to admit May, he's got a great ass." I wiggled my eyebrows.
She laughed then she gave Mase back to me, he looked tired so he is going into the gym for a small nap.
Tonight is fish and chip night at mum's, so we collected it from the shop and arrived at her place before six-thirty.
Dad was in the garage putting his car to bed, mum was on the back porch surrounded by money and books. March, however, was only interested in getting his dinner ready.
"How did you go?"
"The figures are outstanding, I sold out. I thought I would have had enough to last until Saturday."
"I guess you will be slaving over a hot stove again tonight?"
"No Nicky, I do everything in the pressure cooker, I need to buy another one on the weekend then I can do it all at work."
"Too complicated for me mum," March sat down he was grinning so I took a couple of chips and blew on them, Mase can chew on them when they are cooled down.
"Come on mum let's eat before dad comes back."
"He won't be long, as I said he will be sleeping in that car for a while yet."
"Your not serious?"
"No Nicky, but he hasn't left that garage since we got home." She giggled. I went to open the door that is connected to the garage and yelled.
"Come on dad, dinner time."
"Be right there son."
His smiling face appeared at the door and he pushed past me to go get his food, so little time and so much to do.
"What about the roasts mum?"
"I am still thinking about it Nicky, I thought I might start with beef and gravy rolls, my biggest problem is I have to find the time to cook. I am going to have to employ someone at some stage because Rose and Wendy get quite busy also."
March had been sitting there eating and probably in his own little world, I gave Mase a chip to chew on and then we heard.
"When are you going to do the roasts?"
"I was just saying I might start with beef and gravy rolls."
"No the proper roasts, potatoes beans pumpkin and such."
"I don't know March I would love to have that for your sake but I don't think I will be able to cope with it all.":
My son was having a ball with his chip, but most of it landed on the floor, I think he just likes the vinegar and salt but maybe he is still working on his swallowing technique.
"I have to ring Faith tonight and tell her about Hank."
"She might go to that club Nicky." March said.
"Then we go with her, if anyone can get him to come home she is the person to do it."
"She loves him." Mum said.
"Yes she does, and she's also questioning her own worth and where she sits in Ethan's eyes, would he do that to her, would her family reject her like Jim and Hank did. She has doubts and although I talked her into getting a hot tub, she is still down in the dumps." I dropped my head and looked with one eye at mum.
"She could do with a job, something she likes to do, something other than family crisis management. Any clues as to what she could do mum?"
"Yes Nicky, I heard you loud and clear, and to answer your question March, the full roasts will be arriving after I visit the farm."
March grinned and patted my leg, he knows I am good at this sort of thing.
Dad and March washed up then went to ogle the new car, and it was new because Joel had done a full nuts and bolts restoration from the ground up.
It shone under the many tubular lights installed in the ceiling, and I did like the color.
"Are you going to put it up on blocks dad?"
"Maybe later but for now I will drive it, I'm not worried about the mileage it's not important, just the stones on the road."
"Well Joel can fix them if it happens," March said.
"I have planned a route to work, only the bitumen roads for this baby."
"So in fact you will be just going around the block?" I said.
"Something like that son." he giggled.
"Okay March, baby to put to sleep, and I have to ring Faith."
I rang her just after Mase closed his eyes, she was still a little down in the dumps but when I told her about Hank she brightened up a bit.
"I will come into town tomorrow and we will make a plan."
"We can do that Faith, or we can just go and haul his ass out of the club and bring him home." She thanked me and said she will see me tomorrow.
I didn't know how March would take to going into the city again, especially to a gay club, so I won't say anything just yet.
"What did she decide Nicky?" He said after we had a round of man loving.
"She's coming into town tomorrow, the only thing apart from ringing him is we go and drag his ass home."
"So you want to go to the club then?" Looks like my secrets out.
"I don't want to go anywhere, but I would only go there with you. I don't know about Faith it may be a shock to her sensibilities." I giggled.
"And not mine?"
"Of course March, but you will be with me, I can protest you from the big bad gays."
He looked at me and smiled.
"I don't need it Nicky, but you will, and don't think for one minute you can wear your shorts. They are for me only." And the rest of our town.
We left it at that, it is all up to Faith what we do, but I do know Hank needs to come back home. Jimmy is another story, he may fly home or he may stay where he is out of probably, embarrassment.
I readied the ride and Mason was very excited to go for a run, I kissed March thoroughly then we set off just as dad pulled into the driveway.
March had locked up they both were going to work in dads car. They drove around the circuit three times, and by the last loop, I was standing with bub's in my arms getting ready to go across the road. Their grins were adorable and it looks like bubby and I will be running home tonight. Dad won't put a child seat in his car they will use mums car for carting Mason around. I went with them to get a coffee and my son wanted Rose this morning and she was very happy to have him.
No May yet but she will turn up soon, I presumed.
"So what did you decide mum?"
"I will talk to Faith son, she has got a great kitchen, and I think she almost sits in it all day."
"She does mum, she does help with the veggie gardens but I'm not sure what help she gives. She needs to get out some more."
"Well I was thinking she could do the cooking at her place and deliver it here, or she can come here and use May's kitchen if she wants company."
"Good idea, she will probably shoot home to give the men morning tea and lunch, she is going to get busy." I grinned.
May arrived and Rose passed Mase over to her, she then went back to work.
"Did you have a good night May?" I asked.
"Yes fish and chips they were delicious."
"So did we, ours was better," March said.
"Not as good as mine, I added a pinch of your rudeness and ate it all up."
He laughed and pulled her in for a brotherly hug.
Their spats don't last long thank god, I would hate to be between those two.
It was around eleven when Faith turned up, she looked the same. Flowery frock and handbag, she even had stockings on something you don't see much nowadays. Mum sat with her and I took bubs off March who had him in the workshop and walked across.
"Hi, lovely lady you look very nice today." She giggled.
"Hi Nicky, your mum was just telling me about her new venture it sounds like it is right up my alley."
"Well Faith, you can do the meat in your pressure cooker, I can do the rest here or at home."
"Then it won't be fresh I can do it I have two ovens. I am used to it anyway."
Let's not start a cooking war ladies.
"Fine if you think you can cope then I will give you an order, I will buy all the stuff and pay you for your time."
"Let us just see what happens Mary, I have contacts in the meat and vegetable industry, I can get the roasts at half price and the veggies are cheap."
"You're going to kill a cow?" I said.
"No Nicky from the wholesalers we sell beef to them."
"That would be wonderful Faith," Mum said.
"We will talk it out later on, first I will need your list of what you want to keep then I will price it."
"Okay, we go from there."
"Nicky more importantly what have you decided to do about Hank? I haven't rung him I want to know your thoughts first."
"Yes if you ring him he may run, but I doubt it. I think March and I will go to the club this Friday night and try and get him to come home."
"Right, what time are you picking us up?"
"Do you want to go?"
"Ethan and I will be going with or without you."
"Is that wise?"
"For my family's sake, yes. He may not listen to you but he will listen to us. A little-known fact about Hank Nicky. He is the best farm manager we have ever had, and now John is going into his own business we will be three hands down. Hank is the best person to hire more staff members and to run the farm, Jimmy or not, he comes home with us."
"I see." Boy he is a popular man, I hope he does follow them home, we can only give it a try, now for my next problem March Stephenson, will he or won't he?
Mum showed Faith what she would be doing, eat-in will have plates, and takeaway will have foil containers, she will do family roasts in bigger tubs and will offer beef not chicken because there is already a chicken shop down the road. Faith made a few suggestions which mum will take into consideration, but in the interim, she will only offer her curry or casserole dishes.
I took her across the road and she said hello to March and dad then she handed Mason back to me and bid us farewell. I looked at March and he said.
"What time do we have to pick them up?"
"Eight Friday night, that should get us there by nine-thirty."
"I got nothing to wear Nicky."
"Then wear nothing then." I giggled back to my job, now there is a good idea.
I have no clue what reaction I will get out of March, but I am sure it will open his eyes to another different world.
I watched the cafe over the next few days and mum was getting all sorts of deliveries. She had containers stacked out in Mays home and she was also nervous. Two more visits to Faith's place and she was almost ready to go.
She didn't hire an offsider as yet but is keeping her eyes out for someone special.
Our night out arrived too quickly, I was nervous I would run into someone I knew and had made sure Tom will be turning up. March was also nervous he changed outfits three times before he decided on a nice T-shirt and jeans, I wore the same. May was chosen to babysit and she was excited because she and Jason get him all to themselves. Rose was an option but she had wrangled an invitation to come with us, god help me.
We picked her up first, she looked very nice and I knew she will fit in. She was on a high and I was told by her she had been looking forward to going to the gay clubs with her son, but that never happened. Faith and Ethan looked like they just stepped out of a disco, but not overly done. She had nice jeans on and a billowing blouse, I thought Ethan's shirt and tie were too much, but he did look awesome, you could tell he wasn't from the city.
We giggled our way into town, I rang May twice, and the third time she didn't answer, but I got a message from her to stop it. We parked and grouped up. I gave them all instructions not to forget what we are here for, especially Rose no dancing on the podium, and stay within our eyesight.
We gained entry because March's eyes met the bouncer and he was a goner, he almost bought our first drinks for us, fresh country meat on the market came to mind.
It was early for the club and the crowd hadn't arrived as yet, I noticed they also have a show on tonight the ladies will love the male strippers.
We found a table, and Tom came in not long after us. I hugged him then he did Rose then March. I didn't know what Ethan and Faith thought about him, but the incident wasn't his fault.
Ethan got the first round of drinks while Tom and I talked. March's eyes were everywhere, and the music although not loud yet was thumping away in the background.
Rose and Ethan were the only ones drinking, us boys had lemon squashes
Tom went off to talk to some friends he knew and I surveyed the room, just to make sure no unforeseen enemies from the past were about.
Faith laughed it up big time, she was so happy she at least got out of the house for a change, and what a big change, straight into a gay nightclub.
It was around ten when Hank arrived, he looked like shit and sat at the end of the bar just looking around. Rose was talking to the guys at the next table and in a flash, she was up dancing with them, my God she was quick. March went to get drinks, and Faith, Ethan, and I went to corner Hank. The look on his face was priceless when he saw them, tears streamed down his face and he couldn't say anything. Faith grabbed and hugged him and Ethan almost mimicked her. I stood back and watched fighting back my tears. I heard a yelp, then a "Nicky help."
I changed from sadness to happiness, March has been discovered by the club crowd and two guys had him bailed up against the bar.
"Where have you been all my life big boy?"
"Is your dick ready to go, or would you like me to warm it with my mouth?"
"Nicky?"
"I'm here husband, now boys leave my husband alone, he's new."
"Not so new, he has got a mighty fine hard-on in his pants." One guy said and March yelped again. His ass was pinched, his crotch grabbed, and they even got in a few kisses and a nipple suck in, March was practically being raped in front of me.
Tom came to the rescue and told them he was a friend of his, they wanted to join him but he said no it would be just us three tonight.
The disappointment on their faces was priceless and I grabbed March and took him back to the table. I did notice the guy's eyes never left him, most of the night.
He placed the drinks down and then slumped in his chair.
"You okay baby?'
"Yes, Nicky I thought I was a goner then."
"Oh, I think you might have survived two queens March."
"I don't know Nicky, they might have taken me out the back and done unspeakable things to me."
"Good, I could have watched."
"Why would you want to watch me being terrorized?"
"I doubt there would have been any terrorization March, maybe some humping, but not that." I laughed at his face.
He did laugh about it when he relaxed and when Hank was dragged over to the table he looked a lot better. He leaned over and apologized to us both and we waved it off. Rose came back and skulled her drink, she looked at Hank and said
"I was worried about you."
"Sorry, Rosie."
"Well don't do it again." She laughed and went to sit with her new friends who had another drink for her.
"Come on big boy dance with me."
"I can't do the modern stuff."
"Just stand there and wiggle your hips you will do just fine."
He did that and again yelped several times, his ass will be black and blue tomorrow.
He did pretty well actually, my fat was telling me I should do unspeakable things to him out the back before we leave. Tom arrived back he said he had business to discuss, he also said that Pete will be home in two weeks he got a reprieve for good behavior.
"Let the fun start Nicky, when Pete leaves, Matt won't have his protection."
"Poor Matt." I giggled, well he did abuse me now maybe I will get some payback.
Rose was laughing up a storm, and Faith and Ethan were happy as Larry. Hank decided he had missed the farm and will be coming back home where he belongs. He doesn't know about Jimmy, he will decide after he settles back in.
The show started and the toy boys began their show, it was full on, and March's eyes never left the stage, two drag queens six boys in next to nothing. Faith was like March she wasn't shocked, if anything she wanted to join them, which Rose did.
They got her up on the stage and dressed her in drag, she did an Abba number with them and boy did she give it her all, as well as a few gropes. the boys didn't mind they were used to it, at one stage they honed in on March, and he grabbed me and said.
"Don't let them take me out the back Nicky." He giggled. The fun didn't last long my laughing stopped when I saw Glen. March didn't notice thank god, but Glen was my most hated enemy, he was a very nasty man and preyed upon the younger crowd promising modeling contracts so he could use them up sexually. I was one of his would-be victims and if it wasn't for Matt stepping in, I would have been toast.
That was the night he took me home instead, but Glen never forgot and hounded me relentlessly even though he knew I was with Matt.
He had seen me also and I saw him smile. From then on I was quiet and tried not to go unnoticed.
Faith and Ethan said when they stopped laughing, they were going to Hank's hotel to get his things and will drive him back to the farm in his car.
I was thanked many times before they left and Faith said to me.
"You did very well tonight Nickolas Stephenson." I got a genuine hug from her and a kiss on the cheek. I sent a message to Tom that Glen was watching me, he said he would take care of it. I asked March if we could go but also told him I would stay if he wanted to.
He was ready, and by the look of Rose she was more than ready, she had sat on some guy's knees and was laughing her head off, a pink feather boa was draped around her neck.
I sent Tom another message and told him I will ring him tomorrow, that we were leaving the club. We three walked up the street and from nowhere out of an alleyway, Glen stepped in front of me.
"Now where have you been you delicious thing?"
"Hi Glen, sorry got to go."
He grabbed my arm and tried to drag me into the alley, I heard Rose yell.
"Hey leave him alone, get away from him."
"Fuck of drag queen." She would love that.
"Do you know this guy Nicky?" March took my other arm, I was being pulled both ways.
"From way back March, can we go home now? Glen will you fuck off." I shook my arm and he let go.
"I will see you soon you pretty little thing, don't forget your uncle Glen." My skin crawled.
"Who is he Nicky."
"A pedo, let's go."
That was the word March didn't want to hear, Glen was dragged into the alley and all I heard was his screams as March punched him. I ran in and he was flat out on the pavement, so I grabbed March's arms before he had another go at him and dragged him around the corner to the car.
"What just happened?" Rose said.
"A criminal just felt March Stephenson's wrath Rose, he did the gay scene a favor." I kissed my hero.
"So was he a pedo Nicky, or were you joking?"
"Before, when I was new on the scene he chased me all over the place. He liked his boys young and pretty, the crowd never liked him and protected us younger ones, that's when I met Matt he protected me in his way by keeping me close to him."
"I see, so he is not an ex-lover?"
"God no, I have got some taste." Rose happened about that time.
"Drag queen indeed." She roared with laughter and when she finished she leaned over the front seat and kissed us both.
"I have had the best night ever, I will never forget this night as long as I live."
"She's easily amused March."
"Cheap date too."
She laughed almost all the way back to her place, she even hung out the window and shouted Happy new year to the passing cars. I was very happy for her as March walked her to her door and kissed her good night.
We snuck into the house, Jason and May would be asleep, I did notice bub's crib was in our room still, but no bub. I closed the door leading to the family room and offered March a coffee, all he wanted to do was go to bed.
"Don't you want to talk about your night?"
"No need Nicky, thank God we don't go there every week it would kill me."
"I see, so you just want to go to bed then." I kissed him.
"Yes Nicky, to party." He grinned. I see it now, he's turned on and wants sex.
We had quiet sex and then cuddled up until I heard a moaning baby wanting up at six am.
May had this and was on her way to the family room when I opened the bedroom door.
"Do you need a hand?"
"No thank you." So I went back to bed to do unspeakable things to my husband who was more than willing to participate.
'Now to do something about my son, any ideas?' Was the message on my phone when I checked, it was from Faith.
'Talk to Hank, see what he wants to do first. I know he would want Jimmy back by his side, but Jimmy has to experience life also.' I didn't know what to do about it, if Jimmy comes back early then it will be the same old argument. Personally, I would have liked Hank to go with him, then they can have some experiences together, like growing up.
Jim's first experience got him bashed up, the second was ready to settle down and become stagnant, sorry Hank no offense but you can be boring sometimes. That thought bought me back to my March Stephenson, nothing is boring about his life. I think I have made sure of that.
He walked out just as May was putting Mase down for an extra nap, Jason was sitting at the table talking to me about the new business, and how well it's doing. March kissed me then May and he asked if they had any trouble.
"Not at all March he's a perfect little treasure." May grinned. I watched Jason's face he was trying not to laugh. I guessed Mason's voice was heard loud and clear last night.
"How did you go with Hank?"
"Good, he drove home with Faith and Ethan, I don't think he will go away again it's Jimmy that needs to live a little."
"So what's your solution?" March asked.
"Hank should go and find him, then they can experience some gay life together. Jimmy is quite young he wants some excitement in his life."
"So you think I should do that also, go and find myself?" I looked him up and down and said.
"You already know who you are, and you have experience from last night's effort. That's enough for you."
"Do tell," May said.
"Well, it was like this....." I proceeded to tell May about March's trip into the depths of a gay club, she laughed at his red face
It didn't stop there, when we were laying on the sofa after Jase and May left
he was asking all sorts of questions and the main one was why I would let Jimmy go and sow his seeds with someone else.
"He won't March he's too in love with Hank, but he will grow up and that is what's lacking in their relationship. Yes, play with others if that's what they want, but do it like an adult, not a spoilt brat."
"So you think he's a spoilt brat then?"
"Yes, his family does everything for him. They even moved states to protect him, if it was me I would have stayed there, and if he copped some insults so what. He would eventually mouth back or go live in a big city like most of the country gay kids have to do."
"It's confusing me Nicky."
"It would, you haven't lived that life you have lived a different one, one that made you happy. I think Jimmy isn't happy being stuck on a farm, he is yearning for some excitement and I hope he finds it."
"Poor Hank."
"He should have gone with him March."
"The farm?"
"He could hire someone like himself to manage it, then go have some fun with Jimmy."
"I doubt Ethan and Faith would let him do that."
"Then they have to change also, you can't expect two gay guys to live on a farm without providing some sort of excitement or encouragement to go out and have fun with their kind."
"Come on let's finish you up and get to work."
"Okay, I would like the ball thing today." I put my order in.
"Coming up."
I readied Mase and ran to work, it was Saturday morning and March has some cars in. Dad drove his old car today, his new one is resting. Mum had casserole and Curry on offer and guess who had it for a late breakfast?
Rose was nowhere to be seen but Mum said she was on the afternoon shift today.
She asked how it all went, and she said she will be spending the afternoon at the farm so she might have an update. She teased March with a roast chicken for dinner and he was eager to get his day over and done with. I will go to the farm tomorrow and talk to Hank and then the other two. I will also be glad when this is all over because March is thinking about going to find himself, as he mentioned this morning.
Petrol was pumped, May did her wellness thing and I could hear dad laughing, so everything is fine here. My guys pumped iron and I pretended to play a game with my son watching on. It was around noon that I spied Rosie going into the cafe, then March poked his head in he was hungry again.
We all laughed for the next hour, as Rose was still on a high. She told mum and dad stories that even I didn't know about. the guys took her to the men's toilet and told her she would have more fun in it, they also took her out the back to see what goes on at a gay club.
"Man, those buns were awesome." She laughed again.
When everyone had disappeared it was Rose and my son still sitting there.
"You know why I wanted to go there, and this morning at the cemetery I told my son all about it, I am certain I heard him laughing." she smiled.
"I'm sure he did Rose. You did very well last night."
"For a drag queen." She burst out laughing again.
"What was that guy on about was he a pedo?"
"No Rose he just likes his men young, he's a talent agent, and that's his ace card to get them hooked on going home with him, as slippery as an eel. He's not well-liked by the crowd and I have no idea why he even goes there still." My skin crawled and I shuddered.
"There's more to that story isn't there Nicky." She quietly said.
"One day Rose I will take you somewhere you didn't know existed. But for now, you can be happy you saw just a little of the fun side of being gay."
"I can imagine."
"Well, one day."
I wasn't going to tell Rose about the terrifying night Glen had me cornered, the manhandling he used to get me in his flat. I had kicked him so hard in the balls he lay flat on the floor and I thought I had killed him. I never spoke of it to anyone but I was terrified of him. He had left me alone after that and when Matt came into my life he slithered his way into his life to get to me.
It was Glen that was waiting in the bushes that night, Matt had sold out to him, so I ran again.
I looked up at Rose and she handed me a tissue.
"That bad was it?"
"The whole experience was bad, I am so grateful this town has let me live here, I feel so blessed and secure here."
"So do I Nicky, anytime? you know how it goes."
"I will Rose and thank you for the hilarious night out." I smiled.
Mum left to go have a coffee with Faith and I told her we would see her around six thirty for dinner.
I wanted to go home and sleep some more, so when I talked to March he told me he would keep his eye on the gym. There was no running home today I took March's car.
I had just closed my eyes after Mase went to have his nap, there was a knock on the door. The last time this happened I was left in the snow, so I looked out the window first this time. Hank was standing there looking much better. I let him in and made coffee, he was looking at me and I knew he wanted to talk. I haven't got all the answers he should be talking to Jimmy.
"So what can I do for you today Hank, you look a lot better I must say."
"I slept in my own bed, that helps."
"It sure does."
"Nicky, can I run something past you to see what you think?"
"Of course you can."
"Well I have been thinking, I might chase after Jimmy, like find him and maybe we should go on a holiday or something. I do love him but I understand why he's been acting up lately. Neither of us have lived that much, with me it's been the rodeos and with him, it's only ever been the farm."
"Good idea Hank, go and find him and make a plan. Live a little, and when your both are ready to settle down again, then come back or start up your own business. The world is your oyster as they say."
"It's the farm, and Faith and Ethan I am worried about, they may not understand."
"They will, and didn't John just buy that farm next door."
"Yes he did." He sat up.
"Did they have a manager?"
"Yes a good one, Bert he was telling me he has been forced into an early retirement, nice bloke."
"Hire him to take over your job, tell Faith and Ethan you are going on a holiday with Jimmy and will send postcards." I smiled.
"I thought you would have the right ideas, thank you."
"Well it makes so much sense, if you both want others in lives or bed so what, get it all out of your system then settle back here, it's not that far into the city. Make a life for yourselves, one that you both want, don't keep doing the mummy and daddy thing."
"I will talk to them later on, do you know where Jim is?"
"I believe he went back to his old town, maybe to catch up with an old schoolmate, maybe just to tell the town to get stuffed. Whatever reason he has, he's still a scared little boy, it's going to take you ages to make him a man."
"You think I should go back to the rodeo circuit then?"
"It might help Jim to see the other side of you, he only knows the soft side." I wasn't being insulting, I was genuinely trying to help. and he knew it.
After he left with a spring in his step I finally put my head down, bubs was napping away then March came in the front door. No rest for the wicked today.
"Did you sleep?" he poked his head in the bedroom door.
"No, Hank came around and wanted to talk I have just gotten rid of him and was about to nap"
"Can you hold off for a half hour?"
"You want to fuck don't you?"
He shyly said.
"Yes please." He grinned.
