Chapter 1:
William was paying his first ever visit to a shop that had long featured in his dreams and had made the long journey to the capital by public transport in order to leave as few traces as possible of his trip. He had left his visit to the shop until late afternoon to reduce the embarrassment but still he dithered about on the pavement outside. The shop exterior was not quite what he had envisaged, looking considerably seedier than his fantasies had demanded and this was sapping his determination to enter lest the interior similarly failed his expectations.
Eventually, after giving himself a thorough talking to, William entered , the opening door causing a chime to ring and was greeted by an ordinary looking shop assistant who immediately asked, rather disdainfully, if she could be of assistance. William was totally nonplussed by this and hadn't taken in the surroundings at all. He stuttered the usual browser's disclaimer and was relieved to see the assistant lose her interest in him and return to her work at the counter. William was now able to begin his quest and set to, scanning the racks of garments, gradually losing some of his embarrassment as he realised that the shop did definitely contain the objects of his visit. He was thrilled to find hangers displaying the most sumptuous raincoats in a range of sensual rubberised materials, glorious mackintoshes (ladies of course) , the finest expressions of the seamstress's art. Satins, silks, sbrs, wigans, taffetas were ranged before him in styles he had only dreamt of. Attached hoods, detachable hoods, single breasted, double breasted, belted and 'A' -line displayed for his attention only. Ah! If only he could find the courage to try one on and then purchase it but William knew that he had extended his . daring to its limit and would needs be content with this furtive viewing.
He was shaken from his reverie by the chime of the door and in fear he turned to see an attractive, tall ,brunette walk confidently into the store. She approached the assistant who became immediately attentive and the two had a brief and heated conversation which William could not fully hear. He grasped that in some way the assistant had proven unable to aid the new customer but that he was being pointed to as a potential alternate source of aid. His heart leapt to his mouth as he realised that the comely interloper was walking purposefully towards him. In a trice the alluring stranger introduced herself as Judith Lebach and explained her dilemna. She was, she explained, as a rich woman ,used to seeing garments modelled before purchase and she had set her heart upon buying a genuine mackintosh from this specialist shop before returning to France the following day. Regrettably the assistant could not provide the modelling service at this short notice but had flippantly suggested that the young man in the shop was of a similar stature and build to Mademoiselle then perhaps he could be persuaded to model.
Judith confided that she did not wish to give the rather arrogant assistant the satisfaction of a failed approach and indicated that in return she would be only too happy to help him select a suitable garment for the girlfriend for whom he was no doubt purchasing.
William went through many emotions and shades of colour as he digested the request for aid , all of his logic told him to politely refuse the request but his desires argued that this would fulfil his lifelong ambition with little risk to his reputation. As the entreaties of the beautiful Frenchwoman grew , William felt his resolve weakening and to his astonishment he heard himself finally give in to her pleas (and his own desires). Judith clapped her hands in a gesture of Gallic delight and turned triumphantly to the assistant. She demanded that monsieur be dressed appropriately and sought the aid of both the chagrined assistant and William in fetching assorted boxes from her limousine parked outside.
William was dazed by his acceptance of the role and the speed with which events were moving . After having transported the boxes from the vehicle he found himself being ushered into a changing cubicle, stripped of his clothes and firmly pressed into feminine attire. Panties drawn up his long slender legs, a corset cinched securely around his waist followed by tights fresh from their packaging. A new bra was wrapped around his chest and a full petticoat placed overall. He was then sprayed liberally with Givenchy 'Organza' and zipped into a svelte knee- length dress. A brunette mid-length wig was arranged and combed out on his head and having established that his shoe size was a mere 7, matching Judith's exactly, black 4" stilettos placed on his feet.
The amused girls then insisted that he look in the full length mirror and their amusement increased as they saw the awe with which William gazed at his reflection, transformed by their attentions into a more than passable young lady even without the artifice of cosmetics. William mastered the art of walking in stilettos suspiciously fast and he was therefore taken rapidly back out into the main body of the shop for the modelling session.
The closed sign was placed in the door window and the next hour passed in a whirl for William as he sashayed, twirled and swayed in an endless succession of fabulous mackintoshes, lost in the realisation of all his fantasies at once.
