Part Five
Kim was most upset by the news for she had come to like having sex every night, sometimes two sessions and to now have to give me up to the others, threw a tantrum. Fortunately she was told of this in the presence of Doctor Bara who explained the reasoning behind this and Kim finally had to accept the inevitable.
Me, well I was over the moon, literally. Thirty six women to take care of in the line of duty was a duty I was determined not to fail at. Bara drew up the roster list of where I or rather who I would be sleeping with and when for the sole purpose of making babies. Naturally, her name headed the list.
Apart from everybody else having their duties changed to make up for the loss of the crew, they all accepted me as the future father of their children in the name of the historic voyage we were making. I still had to work though not so many hours now for it had been decreed that I sleep with each woman for two nights and if capable, having her during the day in that time period. One night off to rest before taking on the second one, who as it happened was our own Queen Bea as I secretly called her. I also managed to talk to Kim and tell her that on my night off, we could at least have sex one night a week.
The bridge and control room had to change their work rota to fit in with my very busy schedule that had been imposed on me so that they had those nights off when it was their turn. For the gardeners and those on kitchen detail kept to their usual work routines. The roster for my servicing of the women had been determined by their menstrual cycle so that when we coupled they would be at their most fertile time in between.
So came my first night in my new duties and I moved into Bara's quarters. It wasn't as if we were strangers for we came from the same village and had known each other all our lives. Even so, I felt slightly embarrassed when we were alone at last in her bedroom and she came into my arms and kissed me.
I had a crush on you even when we were only in the intermediate school,' she said between kisses. I always hoped to bump into you in the Happy Rooms.'
This was something I had never thought about before. I knew that all the young men, well boys really, at the age of thirteen getting to have sex with a woman. It just had not occurred to me about how the young girls got on in this respect and felt slightly shocked that they should lose their virginity in the same place that I lost mine. I have always wanted to be with you,' she said as she was undressing me, so please don't disappoint me and ruin what I've fought hard for, and that is to keep this voyage going.'
I didn't disappoint her in the respect of pleasing a woman by having had seven years of intensive teaching in the Happy Rooms. I just only hoped that I could live and keep up to what was expected of me.
`That was even better than I hoped it would be,' she said afterwards as she lay in my arms, for she was the one I had to please the most. Oral sex had also been practised in the Happy Rooms and she was adept enough to raise me up to take her again twice more during the night. It was in between bouts that she told me of the discussion about me with the Captain and that she was the next one on the list. If I didn't make her pregnant in a very short time, Bara threatened to emasculate me personally for the whole voyage rested with Bea and the Vice Captain.
Bea was cold when three nights later I was in her quarters. There was no kissing as a prelude for she just wanted to get it over with to prove one way or the other that I would be the stud that she been led to believe. It was this coldness that made me somewhat perverse when both of us were naked on the bed.
`Well?' she had said as she lay there waiting for me to mount her, knowing that I was ready.
`Not this way,' I said, sitting back on my heels.
`What do you mean not this way?' she demanded.
What I mean is that if I'm to be the rutting animal we will do it that way,' I said forcefully and rolled her over onto her front and pulled her up onto her knees. This is how one animal mates with another,' I said as I took her that way.
`You're a beast,' she said afterwards.
`Then become a woman and not be a Captain. Loosen up and let me make love to you as it should be done.'
By the second night I was getting some oral sex play before we began the serious part of our joining together.
It was a knackering two months having all thirty two women and Kim also once a week, and I was eventually thankful for that rest day that I got between women. Though overall I did enjoy myself.
Then came the second round and I was with Bara again.
Well, are you enjoying the voyage so far?' she asked after we'd made love for the first time that night. After having almost the entire crew that are left?'
`Well the answer at the moment is yes, but after another seventeen years...well I don't know if I'll live that long at the rate that I'm going.' She laughed.
`Well we'll know by the end of this round if my appraisal of you was right and that you are a stud.' My heart warmed to this accolade though I had never ever dreamed that I would be called upon to be a stallion to such a fine brood of mares.
So within those five months I proved that I was, for twenty nine of them were pregnant and it only took another few sessions for all the women to be in that state. Her, that is Doctor Bara, was most highly pleased which meant that the voyage would continue.
Seven months later, Kim gave birth to my first daughter and she was named Primo. The next three births were of the women that had been impregnated by one of the lost crew men. So we had four squalling female babies within that month, then women began dropping them like flies, until we had thirty six all told, and all female.
That's not to say that over their nine months pregnancy they went without my presence in their beds at odd times for a woman still needs a man now and then, some more than others. Queen Bea being the one in mind who didn't mind going without. Though she did relent twice during her waiting time.
Bara insisted on a three month interval before I began the rounds again and this time, the females were given male hormone injections to have a spate of boys to be born next. Only this time I had another three women to contend with though I had had sex with them whilst they were carrying the first time so they were not really unfamiliar with me.
So during the period of two years of being in space, I had thirty three daughters and thirty six sons. But that wasn't the end of it for after another four years I then had a total of sixty nine daughters and seventy two sons bringing our total compliment of travellers to one hundred and seventy eight persons aboard the Adastra.
Delighted with this success, Bara then put forward the proposal which had to be voted on throughout all the women that after having had four children, would they be prepared to have another two for the purpose of given all a better start in the New World
It was not quite a majority at the first count but those who had said no were soon talked round by the others and so it began again. We then, within a year had another thirty six girl babies born though we did lose one mother in the process which put a damper on things for awhile. She was buried as it were, in space, a very solemn occasion that was and unfortunately we had another one a year later though she did give birth to her son before passing away.
That was when a halt was called for we now had a total of two hundred and ten children and another three that were not mine. So with two hundred and forty eight people of board, we carried onto our star.
I like to think that it was these sexual interludes that kept us going for all those years as well as bringing the children up and educating them preparatory to be the settlers of a planet which we fervently hoped we would find.
Those of us that had departed from the moon were now, only two years from our destination, all around thirty eight years old when another major meeting was called. It had been found out that I had in fact impregnated the three young females that I hadn't sired, those that had been conceived by members of the crew that had been lost. This had put them all in a tizzy and so the meeting had been called. This was an adult meeting only and all the children were barred from it.
I was on the carpet and had to admit that I had indeed had sex with them with the result that the three of them were pregnant and vehemently denied that I'd had sex with any of my own off spring, which later proved to be right.
So it was decreed that even though my blood was in all of the other children, which couldn't be avoided, it was said that they must start the diluting process by means of having the girls begin to have children before we landed so that if any defects because of heredity were found, they would then have to find a way of counteracting it, though how, I did not know.
So the introduction of half brother and sister began to be coupled together to begin this process of thinning out my blood and genes for the furtherance of the settlers. It was a complicated table that Bara came up with but it was put into operation that thirty two sixteen year old girls were coupled with thirty two fifteen year old boys with the result of having another thirty two children to add to our total in all. Though these were in fact my grandchildren and here I was, only thirty eight and a grandfather no less.
By the time we began the slowing down process which I've said would take three months, the next batch of children were on the threshold of parenthood, as so we came into the realm of the sun that we had only known of as a star called Proxima Centauri.
In that three months of slowing down, we found that it had five planets that circled it and we kept changing our course to find one that was of a similar nature to earth. This sun was much smaller than ours and so we didn't bother with the outer four but concentrated on the closest two and it was deemed that we looked closer at the second one.
This was where Bea came into her own in piloting the craft to get into an orbit and we were pleased to see that it contained cloud in its atmosphere. Now whether this was oxygen as we knew it or not, it would take a probe to find out. Of these, we had six and so the first two were sent out, one to circle this unknown planet, the other to land. The data that came back was most favourable for the planet had both water and was of a similar environment as Earth.
To back track slightly in respect of the children who were now adults and most in parenthood already, had undergone as much of an education as we had had as they had grown up. We now had competent doctors, horticulturists and even experts in metallurgy though it was doubted that these would be put to the test until they started mining for iron ore if it was there.
The main thing was, they all knew that they were to be the colonists and would have to fend for themselves for they would most certainly not get any from anybody else that was for sure. They had knowledge in many forms but for survival, this they would have to learn for themselves.
With the reports from the probes being acceptable, it was time to send out a shuttle and volunteers were asked for, this being restricted to the original crew members, the idea being that we were the ones more expendable than the youngsters. My application to be one of the volunteers was refused on the grounds that I might still be needed in case of mishaps having since established my credentials so to speak.
Bea's son was to captain the first probe to which I objected for he was going to be appointed the leader of the settlement and therefore should not risk his life just to be the first on the new planet which we were giving it the name of Bearth, a play on words. I was overruled and mourned the loss of my second son because they crashed on landing, killing all three aboard, though not all at once for one survived for an hour before dying. It was not only my second son, but also two of my daughters at the same time so it hit me the hardest. Tali, a daughter by one of the gardeners, lived for an hour but gave us back invaluable information before she died from her injuries.
The atmosphere was breathable, the gravity twice that of the moon, which she only knew of by her time on the ship as we had kept the same gravity within the floor plates. They had seen forms of animal life but not that of what we would call human in their orbit before crashing.
I stormed and ranted at Bea about sending inexperienced youngsters down on such a critical survey and won the concession that she would pilot the next craft and agreed to let me go as well with one other member who could, if needed, would be able to pilot the shuttle if required.
So three days later, we went down in another shuttle craft and found as we approached land, turbulent winds that must have been the cause of the first crash. At least Bea was able to cope with this and set us down safely. Our telemetrics showed that the air outside was slightly higher in terms of hydrogen but was still breathable and so, not actually being the first to set foot on Bearth, were the first ones to do so and live.
We felt quite giddy when we first breathed in this air but soon got used to it and we only explored the ground in the immediate vicinity of our shuttle. I had brought down a laser gun with me just in case we met anything that might be hostile to us.
That we didn't find any didn't mean that there wasn't any, so I was constantly on guard as our third member, Hora, our agronomist, checked the soil and took samples for later analysis back on Adastra. We stayed for three hours feeling somewhat discomforted by the gravity that we were not used to before we got back into the shuttle and was able to lift off for our return to the ship.
We were not in a position to equate the soil we found to that of Earth, none of us ever having been there, but by the manuals we had, thought it was on a par, though slightly more rich in potassium and nitrates. We had also determined that it was at least, if not slightly less, the size of earth and therefore, less gravity but still more than that of the moon and what our people were used to from the ship.
After another six probes by others, the pilot of each craft being told of the turbulence near the surface, was able to land and so an enormous amount of different data was collected. This led to one final meeting of all aboard Adastra as to whether my children should stay and become the first settlers of this planet we now called Bearth? It was with a big majority that they said they would stay.
So the first thing sent down was a monitor for them to be in constant communication with us and we also sent out a satellite beacon for later transmissions. We had also been transmitting news of our progress to the moon though we far outstripped any replies that they may have sent us. By only being six months out, they would have learned of our mishap and of our decision to carry on with the mission, but such was our speed by the time they would have received it, it would take years for their reply to reach us. But that still didn't stop us from setting up this link.
It was sad to see my children and grandchildren begin to leave the ship in stages as the first ones down began to build settlements for the others to follow. Meantime, we circled Bearth to take as many pictures as we could for them to get to know what kind of planet they were on.
Then came the crunch time for everyone on board had now had time to experience of being out in air, walking on solid ground and for those of us that started out our journey as to whether they wished to stay with their children or make the long trip back.
The ball was thrown into my court and it needed deep thought for I'd been told various things by many of the original crew and I now had to put it all into the pot to boil and see what came to the surface.
What it boiled down to was that if I stayed, most of the crew would too, but if I went back, half at least would go back with me. There were a couple, well rather seven who wanted to stay and by staying and me going would leave them like dowagers. Queen's at one time but no longer with a mate and would therefore be condemning themselves to celibacy or turning to lesbianism for later comfort.
I had to conduct a secret poll for if the majority wanted to stay, then I would, or return if their choice was the other way. It was a useless thing to do for they all came up with the same answer. If I stayed, they would, if I went, they would go too, so it was all down to me.
I took counsel from Kim being my first `wife' and that of Bea and Bara and also that of Tark. They again left the decision up to me, but I felt the undercurrent that we had lived our lives and now it was time to let the youngsters go to make their own. We could still reach the moon before our own time of life expired and I felt that it was our duty to take the ship back for others to follow, hopefully without mishap to further the progress that our children would have made in this New World.
So that was my decision. That I would, with help, take the ship back for future inhabitants to come out and help those of our children that we would be leaving behind. I felt that it would have been selfish to have stayed to grow old amongst my many children and deny others of having the chance of helping them to progress in making a better world than we'd ever known.
It was the knowledge of the after effects of the Armageddon of our Earth that swayed me. There, after the asteroids had struck and anarchy reigned, religious and tribal hatred had reared its ugly head again whereas we on the moon were unaffected by this. It was this above all that made me give my decision to leave for I knew I would be leaving a close knit family that didn't have these religious and racial hang-ups to cause strife. Strife they would have, that I didn't doubt, but not along the lines that Earth had. These would merely be family squabbles that in time would either split or unite them, but that was their future, not mine.
So it was a year later that we all went down in turn in the shuttles to say our final farewells for it was known that we would never meet again. I think I cried more than the womenfolk for I was saying it to everyone for they were nearly all my children.
We left them four of our shuttles that had at least a thousand years use in them for exploration, keeping one back for ourselves and we then got the ship turned round and sent us back out into space, back towards our solar system and our home.
I'm happy for even though seven of the original crew opted to stay, I still had twenty seven women left who needed the comfort of a man even though we were all now getting on in years. At the time of writing this journal, we are only about four, maybe five years away from the moon, I can say that I've had a happy life. What is more is that I can say that I am also taking back two more sons and two daughters, Captain Bea, Vice Captain Tark, Doctor Bara and Kim being the mothers. I can see us having a tumultuous welcome when we do arrive and we can expect to spend many hours in the café relating our experiences and maybe, I might even still be capable of having the pleasure of having a virgin in the Happy Rooms.
