Love Is Up Where We Belong Written By Lady Nimm (9)

Part 2: He heard a phone ring constantly next to his bed. Thinking it was just another morning call, he reached over. A slim hand grabbed it before he did. "Hello? Grandmother? Oh, so you and father will be out for two weeks? No, it's alright. I have company. No, we're not going to wreck the palace. Goodbye, grandmother."

Nick slowly lowered the blanket from his face. He saw a pair of blue eyes stare back at him. Thank god for thick blankets in this country, he thought.

God why does he have to be so beautiful even when he wakes, wondered Will. "Are you feeling better?" he asked softly. Their faces were mere centimeters apart.

"Much." Nick closed the distance. All mortal ties were broken as two beings shared a chaste kiss. The Royal Family didn't exist in that brief moment. They pulled apart slowly. Will was still a bit dazed from the kiss alone. Nick was a bit dizzy. "I'm sorry. I should've known you were--"

"I'm not." William whispered. He rested his forehead against Nick's.

"But what about--"

"Decoys." Will replied. He sat on the bed with Nick. "I experimented with a few at Eton. I stopped noticing girls just a couple of months ago." Nick swallowed. "To be quite honest, I was shy when we first met because I had a crush on you."

"Will, me too." Nick replied. He held William's slim digits in his large hand. "But you're just discovering."

"Nick, I know what I like. And I like you." Will replied, confused by the older man's actions. "Don't you like me too?" he asked.

"Will, you're just experimenting. I can't do that if you're unsure of this." Nick replied gently.

"I...I guess I should be a little bit more sure of my actions, shouldn't I?" asked William.

"Yeah. Take it from somebody who knows." Nick laughed. He leaned against the prince. "But whatever question you need to ask, I'm a phone call away." He wrote down his number and gave it to Will. "And I do like you a lot. But I don't want to rush you into a lot of things."

Will held the piece of paper in his hands. He crushed it and stuffed it into his pocket. "Never give a Windsor something to love. Because eventually, it'll die." He quietly walked out of the room.

Nick swallowed his tears of sadness. He didn't want to push Will away it was just...Will was just coming out and he needed guidence more than a lover.

He gathered his things and met with his friends downstairs. He smiled his goodbyes to the staff. The smile was empty, though. Will trudged down the stairs, not even looking at them.

"Well, ah, thank you for hosting us, Will." Brian shook his hand.

"Don't worry about it. We may not be able to cry in public but we can still host strangers." Will replied. "As soon as Grandmother comes back, I return to St. Andrews."

"Well, we wish the best of luck to you, Will." Kevin smiled. They picked up their bags and headed out the door.

Nick turned back one last time. "It's easy to find me, Will. I hope you visit in Florida."

Will said nothing as he let the man he truly loved walk out the door. He collapsed on the stairs, holding the banister. The servants left for the prince to weep in peace. Salty tears stained the floor as, for the first time in five years, William of Wales wept.

Little did he know, tears fell from Nick Carter's face and onto the frozen sidewalk. AJ threw an arm knowingly around Nick's sagging shoulders. "I left him behind, AJ. I can't believe it, I left him behind in there." he sobbed.

^^^^^^ "Mommy, how come I don't look like BJ, Leslie, Angel, or Aaron?" asked 6-year-old Nick Carter.

Jane nearly dropped the dishes she was washing in the sink. "W-well, Nicky, it's because you're special."

She remembered the instructions from Countess Rose as Nick scampered off. Nick must never know he was the heir to the wealthiest family of Greece. It was, nor ever will be, safe for him to grow up there.
