True to form, the concrete for the new building and the dining room had been laid, and the permanent canopy that was going to be covering the dining room was in place so that everyone could sit down at the same time to eat. All the extra supplies ordered had also arrived and the first day in the new dining room would coincide with their guests from Texas arrival.
In Texas, a very excited young boy woke extra early so that he could be ready for his trip to see his friends in Canada. It was also his first plane trip which while it scared him a little bit, it also sounded exciting.
Miles and Keith both heard Jeremy moving around and while they could have had at least another thirty minutes in bed they decided to get up but not before a quick kiss and cuddle. Both had morning `Woody's' but decided if they did something about that they would be late. After a quick shower they were just getting dressed when there was knock on the bedroom door and a small voice said, "Dad's hurry up we don't want to miss the plane."
Both laughed with Miles replying, "Don't worry son we're almost ready and we have plenty of time."
"He's so excited but then so am I, we haven't seen the farm for a while and a lot has happened since then." Keith remarked. Dressed and ready they went into the kitchen were Miles set about making breakfast while Keith brought the luggage from their's and Jeremy's room. He had insisted they pack everything the night before just in case they overslept.
They sat down to scrambled eggs and fruit juice but Jeremy hardly touched his, he was too eager to get going. Miles and Keith did the washing up and put everything away before making sure the house was secure with the gas turned off. Then they waited for Keith's mom to arrive to take them to the airport.
Both mom's wanted to take them, so to prevent a argument Miles suggested that Keith's mom take them to the airport and his would pick them up when they returned. At the airport they said their goodbye's with Jeremy kissing his Grandmother telling her he loved her which always brought a tear to both of their eyes.
It was a fairly long flight with a stopover in Minneapolis before flying onto Saskatoon. They then went by rental car to the farm which was about another two hours, so the whole journey took close to eight hours including the stopover. That didn't include the drive from their home to the airport that was close to ninety minutes.
Once they boarded their first flight Miles asked Jeremy if he would like to sit near the window but he said, "No I want to sit between my two dads so they can look after me if anything happens." Both of his dads laughed but did as he asked. When it came time to take off he held both his dads hands so tight that he almost made them bleed. It was only when they were at cruising height and the seat belt sign went off did he begin to relax.
The landing at Minneapolis was a repeat of the take-off. With an hour fifteen layover they took him to McDonalds in the airport for lunch before making their way to the lounge. They were surprised when they checked in that they had been bumped up to business class because the flight was overbooked and this made Jeremy feel very important.
On the flight to Saskatoon sleep finally overtook the young boy and he slept for about an hour but then so did Keith and Miles.
Back at the farm, Damien had taken it upon himself to talk to the male schoolteacher who was supposedly homophobic and was making it difficult for many of the young gay boys he was teaching. After school, Damien wandered over to his classroom and introduced himself. They had never officially met but Donald Percival shook hands inviting Damien to take a seat.
At first they made general conversation about the school, the district and weather before Damien got right down to the matter in hand. Tell me Don, may I call you that?" he asked and Don nodded before Damien continued, "Tell me why are you so against gay people and especially gay kids?"
There was a long pause as Don considered his answer. While he was waiting Damien noticed that while the guy was in his late thirties he was not married, although he was an attractive looking guy about six foot in height and with blue eyes. Damien was surprised he was unmarried.
Finally, Don answered his question, "Because I believe homosexuality is a mortal sin against God and the sacredness of marriage. If you choose to be gay as you put it then you should become an outcast just as the lepers were in the old days."
"But god himself made us what we are; we didn't decide to be gay so you're going against the good Lords ways by condemning us."
He was silent seeking an answer and Damien was beginning to realize why Don was like he was and decided to confront him with it, "You know what I think? I think you're gay yourself and ashamed of it, which is wrong. I suspect that as a child you were told it was wrong to like boys or maybe play with dolls and this scarred you for life. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that deep down you are on our side of the fence but too ashamed to admit it so you take your frustration out on the gay boys you teach."
Don's face began to crumble and Damien knew he had guessed right. Tears began rolling down his cheeks so Damien put his arms around him, "How did you guess?" he asked.
"I didn't, I just took a punt on a hunch and I was right. I take it you have always had to suppress your feelings mainly because of family pressures, which was wrong. You were taking your frustration out of those around you, which is wrong. So why not from now on try to be a bit more tolerant with those who are the same as you, gay. Especially those young kids you teach who have already been through hell for a lot of their short lives and don't need any more aggravation."
"I promise I will be more considerate and gentle with my pupils and I ask you not to mention to Jennifer or the education authorities about our conversation here today."
What took place here is strictly between you and I and no one else Don. Now give me a hug before I get back to my work." They hugged briefly and he knew that Don would be a good teacher from now on. He did say to Jennifer later that day that he had a chat with Don and he would be much better from now on. When she asked what happened to make him change Damien just smiled and said, "Let's just say he saw the error of his ways and leave it at that."
Damien then went to inspect the new dormitory building site that was just getting underway. The concrete floor already had been poured and was set. As he made his way over George intercepted him, "Can I stop you for a minute, I have some news about more land?"
"No problem George, especially if it's good news."
"A land owner approached me with fifty acres for lease but it's about two miles away which means if we use it for cows we will have to drive them to the dairy on the road twice a day in both directions. While it's not really suitable for crops we could plant potatoes which no one in this region has ever done and we will then have to research the market to make sure we have a buyer who can handle that big a crop."
He also added that they would have to purchase some extra special harvesting equipment because harvesting by hand is back breaking and time consuming. Damien thought for a while before replying, "That's a radical move for this area but we would be cornering the market if we go ahead. I'll get Nathan to do some research on the internet but fifty acres of potatoes would be too much. I think that if we fence about ten acres for planting and then look at buying some sheep which once again no one has tried around here?" George agreed in principle but not before more research had been done. Damien promised to get Nathan onto it right away as he continued onto the building site.
He was surprised at the progress being made in such a short amount of time. After speaking with the builder and being told if the weather held good they would finish about a week ahead of
schedule. The builder said, "While some of us don't agree with what is happening here with these boys we are grateful for the amount of money flowing into the district."
Damien asked him to explain himself a bit more, "Well last night at the council meeting of which as you are aware I am a member, there was a lot of discussion regarding the farm and mainly how big you were becoming. As someone suggested do we want that many homosexuals corrupting our region?
There was a lot of discussion at times, heated on the pros and cons until someone pointed out how much extra trade and business you are bringing into the region. For example, I have never been so busy thanks to you and have had to employ more workers, men who would be out of work it wasn't for your project here.
The bottom line is that everyone appeared to be satisfied but you do have those out there that are still totally opposed to this idea." Damien was surprised at this outburst thinking this was the most this guy had ever said to him or possibly anyone.
"I appreciate you telling me all this and I can say to you, know in confidence for the time being that I intend to run in the next council elections so that we have a voice in the district."
"Well you'll certainly have my support." The contractor said. With a handshake, they parted company with Damien heading back to the office to talk to Nathan about the ideas George had put forward. On the way back he pondered on everything that had taken place today thinking what a great place this had turned out to be, from a farm owned by a homophobic farmer with a gay son who had the foresight to create something that is giving young gay guys a chance in life.
He thought to himself that there should be some kind of award to recognise the work of Jordon and the dedication he and Geoff were showing. By the time, he got to the office he was getting a bit teary so he headed for the restroom to freshen up.
Meanwhile the two young men in his thoughts were getting more and more excited as the time drew near for their Texas friends to arrive. Miles had called from Saskatoon airport to say they were picking up their rental and would be there in two to three hours.
Everyone was just about to sit down for supper when a car horn sounded out the front, "There here." Yelled a very excited Jordon as he began running around the house to the front with Geoff hot on his heels. The Three visitors were just getting out of the car when the pair of them arrived and Jordon jumped into Miles arms kissing him on the lips before he realized what he had done.
He jumped back just as quick saying sorry but Miles and Keith just laughed saying they were just as happy to see them. Jeremy was looking a bit bewildered at all this affection. Jordon after kissing Keith turned saying, "Hello Jeremy welcome to the farm." He then kissed him on the cheek, which while surprising him didn't faze him even when Geoff followed suit.
Once all the welcoming hugs were over they led the way to the makeshift dining room that was just outside the back door. It was here Bentley went through the hugging and kissing process before being introduced the Jeremy. Again, he was hugged and kissed but by now, he was beginning to get used to it.
Jordon called for quiet and once he had everyone's attention he said, "Guys I'd like you to meet some very good friends of mine and Geoff's from Texas who are here for a short visit. Some of you may remember them from way back when they were here but our family has increased since then. Please make welcome Miles, Keith and their adopted son Jeremy."
Everyone cheered and applauded making them feel welcome, after all Jordon and Geoff had talked about nothing else for weeks now. Miles spoke, "Thank you for the warm welcome and it's good to see you all face to face at last after having heard all about you from our two friends here. I must admit from what we saw just coming from the car to back here, the place has certainly grown some since our last visit. Plus since then we have become proud parents, having Jeremy here with us now. And guys he's straight and has a girl friend." This made a few laugh and a couple of the guys about Jeremy's age say, "Pity he's cute." Jeremy blushed and Jordon warned them no more of that kind of talk.
Martha came out of the kitchen announcing, "Let's eat or supper will spoil." Everyone went to get their food from the kitchen while Miles, Keith and Jeremy were shown where they could wash up. Over dinner, the guests were introduced in person to everyone. Timmy and Jimmy took a shine to Jeremy who became bored with their non-stop talking about egg production and how to tell the sex of day old chicks.
The twins had been trained by an expert chicken sexer and could now tell the sex of up to eighty-day-old chicks each every minute. After supper Damien took them quietly to one side, pointing out that Jeremy was not gay and they shouldn't try anything on with him. Timmy said, "We already know that and it's a pity because he's really cute."
Straight after supper the three Texans were feeling tired so they headed off to the George and Martha's place for a good night's sleep. As always, they tucked Jeremy into bed before kissing him goodnight. Just as they were about to leave he said the strangest thing, "You know dads, I didn't realize how nice gay guys are and I wouldn't mind one bit if I were gay because I would have some great friends."
Miles answered him, "It doesn't matter whether your gay or not, they'll still be your friends because that's the way they are."
"Yes I suppose your right dads but I still wouldn't mind being gay." They left him closing the door behind them and in their own room they thought about what he had said, "You don't suppose he is gay do you?" Miles asked Keith.
"I don't know, that was a rather strange statement he made wasn't it?" Keith said and Miles agreed with him. While they hadn't made love in two days they agreed they were both too tired and worn out, so they contented themselves with a kiss and a cuddle before dropping off to sleep.
The next day one of two court trials was due to begin. The first was the trial of the Redneck father of Brian. This was the guy Jordon gave food to during a protest who when his father found out beat him almost to death with a shovel. While no one at the farm was actively involved in the case Jordon and Geoff wanted to be there to provide moral support for Brian.
Both mom's said ok but insisted that they take two members of the security team with them just in case. The courthouse was packed and the boys spotted Brian in a wheelchair hooked up to IV's and machines being pushed into a private room by nurses. They had been going to see him every couple of days in the hospital and he was slowly making progress but it would be a long time before he was any good again and his brain would never fully recover.
At the last minute Jennifer's boyfriend Clive, who was head of security said he would go with them as well, "I have a bad feeling about this trial." He told Jennifer. They found seats and waited for the actual trial to begin. It had already taken two days to select a jury and the not guilty plea was based on religious grounds that God sent him a message that his son was associating with homosexuals and must be punished.
The media had made a big thing of this because it was unheard of and the prosecution tried several different grounds to have the plea dismissed but the judge obviously decided that it would be a very interesting case to sit on.
The jury came in and then everyone had to stand while the judge came in, then the trial was underway. In his opening statement the prosecutor pointed out that there was no precedence in law to cover the not guilty plea and it was plain as day that the man was guilty of attempted murder of his only son.
Once he sat down the defence lawyer put forward his case saying that it was against everything written in the bible that Brian should eat and socialize with known homosexuals. This took most of the morning and the judge broke for lunch.
The boys had brought their own lunch and they sat in the car park eating chicken sandwiches and fruit juice from the hamper that had been put into the car's trunk by Bentley. Included were homemade choc chip cookies that were a speciality of their own bakery. Jordon remarked that there were some strange looking characters with shaved heads and swastika tattoos in court and they were milling around the entrance.
"I don't like the look of them at all and I can see trouble brewing inside this afternoon. I think we should try and get down to the front as close to Brian as possible because I think with him being the only witness for the prosecution except for his doctor, his life could be in danger." Clive said.
Both Jordon and Geoff had always wondered at the premonitions Clive gets. The only time it let him down was with the new guard who tried to rape Trent. Anyway having police connections we were able to go in through a side door and sit right behind the prosecution table.
The police had also sensed trouble and had double the number of officers in the room. The jury and then the judge came back in and Brian was called to the stand. He was pushed in and placed in front of the witness box and as he looked around the courtroom he smiled when he saw Jordon and Geoff sitting there.
The defence lawyer jumped up protesting that Brian wasn't capable of giving evidence because of the injuries to his head when he fell over onto the shovel. This caused an uproar with the prosecution protesting at the remark plus the rednecks in the courtroom began yelling and laughing in support.
It took the judge a while to bring order to the room and once he had, he fined the defence five thousand dollars for contempt telling the jury to ignore the remarks, "Any more remarks like that and you will find yourself spending time with your client behind bars." The judge announced.
It was almost as if that was a signal because several rednecks who were shouting anti-gay slogans lunged forward toward Brian and the judge. The police and bailiffs in the courtroom were outnumbered and while the jury and the judge were rushed out Clive and the other two security guys ushered us out through a side door pushing Brian and his nurse in front of them.
Once through the door they found a key in the lock on the other side and Clive locked the door before instructing everyone to follow him. Being an ex-police officer he knew his way around and went down a couple of corridors before they arrived at the offices where the judges were. The sound of a massive battle-taking place in the courtroom was deafening and police sirens could be heard approaching bringing in reinforcements.
Clive knocked on a door and a timid scared voice asked who it was. When Clive identified himself, they heard a key turning in the lock and the door opened to reveal a very frightened Judge Mathews, the trial judge. Also in the room were several court reporters and secretarial staff all looking traumatized. He allowed everyone in and it was only then that they could check to make sure Brian was all right.
He was shaking like a leaf, otherwise he appeared to be ok, "It's a good job you were in court Clive and could help out." Clive explained about the premonition and then introduced Jordon and Geoff to him. Shaking their hand he remarked how brave they were and kind to come to court to support Brian, "Of course I will have to order a mis-trial and arrange for the trial to held on cameras with no public allowed.
They chatted in general and Judge Mathews was very interested in the farm project saying that he would like to come out and have a look sometime. Not as a judge but as an interested member of the public."
For the first time Brian spoke in a very quiet voice saying, "Thank you so much for the help and support you guys have given me." He paused before continuing, "Once I get out of hospital would it be possible for me to come and stay with you guys on the farm? I have a small trust fund left to me by my grandfather and since I have no other relatives around here I will have no where else to go.
While I'm not gay I would like to join you guys and when I'm fit enough I would be able to work around the farm." Without hesitation, Jordon said yes adding that they were looking for a knowledgeable assistant for George and he would fit the bill admirably. Brian smiled again only the second time in days and the boys hugged him gently.
There was a knock on the door with the announcement that it was the chief constable. The door was then opened and he informed them the courthouse was now secure and several arrests had been made. Brian said goodbye to everyone as he was wheeled away to a waiting ambulance. Then the boys and Clive said their goodbyes with the judge promising to visit them soon. They too left by a side door only to find that their car had been trashed.
While Clive arranged for it to be towed, a police car was made available to take them home. It was an anxious group of people waiting for them when they arrived back. They had been watching the drama unfold on television and everyone was worried sick because they had no idea where they were.
Once everyone had settled down they took their three guests on a grand tour of the farm. First they looked at everything being done close to the house including the new piggery were Jeremy fell in love with the baby piglets, "Dads can I take one home and keep it as a pet?"
Laughing Miles explained, "What are we going to do with it when it becomes as big as its momma, which it will."
"Oh I never thought of that." Still laughing they moved onto the chicken barns that were divided into two. In one were the laying hens that now numbered close to a thousand. The other held chickens being bred for meat which housed over two thousands chickens.
Damien explained to Jeremy, "And in charge of this whole operation are your two new friends Timmy and Jimmy, the youngest chicken farmers possibly in the whole world and they make the most money for the project."
"They are two wonderful boys, very clever and cute. I wish when I'm with them that I was gay."
Miles and Keith looked at each other with wonder in their eyes. Thinking surely not, "Jeremy you come out with the strangest sayings sometimes." They all laughed but couldn't help wondering, is he or isn't he gay.
The tour continued with a look at the boys quarters and the new development being constructed. After looking at the dairy and the horse's Jeremy was told, he could go for a ride tomorrow. They hopped on board the tractor and trailer for George to take them first to Bennett's farm and then on to a tour of the boundary fences.
Both Miles and Keith were very impressed with the progress made since their last visit and congratulated Jordon, Geoff and Damien with a hug. Their final stop before supper was the front office so that Nathan could proudly show them how everything was on spreadsheets or in the database so they knew what money was coming in and out at any given time.
He explained all about milk production, crop rotation and how the bakery was already showing a big profit. He then mentioned his favourite subject, "I know how many condoms and bottles of lube we have in stock all the time." Miles and Keith couldn't stop laughing after that statement and after thanking Nathan they all headed for supper still laughing.
Supper was Bentley's special meat pie cooked in the bakery and this time he made them into individual pies chock full of tender meat. Fresh home-grown vegetable and mashed potatoes with gravy. Dessert was strawberries and cream which also was home-grown.
Jeremy asked if he could sleep over with the twins and with some reservation, his dads agreed, "But no sexy stuff understood?" All three of them looking as if butter wouldn't melt in their mouths nodded in agreement but neither the dads nor Damien were sure nothing would happen.
The dark cloud on the horizon was that in two days' time the trial of Domingo Gonzales the new security guard who tried to rape young Trent was due to take place. Because he was pleading not guilty, Trent along with several other eyewitnesses had to give evidence.
Trent was taking this badly and looked to be on the verge of a breakdown so the boys set up a spare bed in their room to keep an eye on him. It was during the first night that the boys were wakened by an earth shattering scream...
To be continued.
Writer's corner:
Another living in a lie chapter bites the dust and what a chapter it was. The Redneck father's court case turned into one big riot and the guys thanks to Clive knowing his way around they were safe. These rednecks remind me of members of the Westboro Baptist church. So set in their ways and so bigoted that nothing will stop them and they never give in.
I fear the boys are going to continue to have trouble from these guys for a lot longer.
Jeremy Miles and Keith have finally made it for a holiday and Jeremy is keeping everyone entertained with his antics and sayings. The big question is, is the young fella gay or not? What do you think? Should I keep him straight or make him Gay, as he gets older? Let me know you're thoughts on this.
The tour of the farm kept all of us up to-date with how big the project was becoming and computer geek Nathan can't help but keep mentioning how many condoms and bottles of lube are used.
We finally came to the other court case out there that of the rapist security guard. Poor Trent do you think he will be fit enough to give evidence and without his evidence will Domingo get off scot free?
All this will be answered in the next chapter so try not to miss out please and of course please let me know what you think of this and all my other stories.

I agree with Trevor. This was a very intense and exciting chapter. What with the trial and the rednecks trying to kill Brian. I was so glad that Clive went with the boys to court. If he was not there I am sure they would have been seriously hurt or killed. The courtroom security only took the judge and jury to safety. They let the witnesses fend for themselves.
I agree with Trevor in that I believe that the farm and the boys will experience more trouble again in the future with these rednecks.
I was glad to see Brian ask to live on the farm when he was released from the hospital. He definitely needs a place that is safe for him. He should also be awarded all his fathers money and belongings once he is convicted. Screw `em...
I feel real sorry for Trent. He has so much baggage. I hope the boys are able to help him enough to put that rapist behind bars for a long, long time.
As for me I want Jeremy to remain straight. I think it shows that gay couples can raise boys or girls and not have them become gay like so many bigots believe.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
Take care...
