FLOURESCENT by Nelz Agustin
"So tell me," I said, trying not to look at him. "You think Mrs G would approve our new site?"
Daniel shrugged. "I think she'll be cool about it."
"You think so?" I said. I can smell his freshly-showered scent. Tantalizing. His eyes gazed on his monitor. I wish he'd gaze at me.
"Absolutely..."
His platinum wedding band glinted in the flourescent.
Awkward pause.
"Daniel, about last night..."
"Forget it," he murmured.
Thick, taut silence.
"I gotta go back," I said, standing up. He nodded, smiling.
I went back to my cubicle, staring at my monitor.
Trying not to cry.
