THANK YOU!  I've received so many emails welcoming me back!  I'm glad to see you've all missed me ;)  I've also received some email from some new readers.  I'd like to thank you all for continuing to encourage this story.  I just want to say that although I've read many stories here, none of them have anything to do with my story.  My wanting to write this story, came from the fact that I'm madly in love with Kevin Richardson ;) LOL.  The only person/thing I have to thank right now, is the Nifty Archives, for posting this story here.  I'm sure sooner or later there'll be someone to thank.  Just can't think of anyone off the top of my head.  Well...except for the people who email me.  I guess I **could* thank them....;)  Thanks guys!  Love ya's!

Light In The Ashes
Chapter 6

**The next morning*

I have to admit, I slept very well last night.   I don't know why.

I got up, took a shower, brushed my teeth and got dressed.  I called Heather, and she still wanted to come to the hospital this morning.  I also called Kevin, but I don't think he was there.  He must have been doing something with the band.  Maybe he didn't expect me to be up so early.

I decided to leave, and Heather and I went to the hospital.  We walked down the hallway, and entered the room James was in.

"Good morning." James said.

"Good morning.  I see you're awake." I said.  Heather just nodded at him.

"What brings you here?" he asked kind of snickering I think.

"Well, I just came to see if you were alright." I said, looking around and noticing that Josh wasn't there.

"Looking for someone?  Josh went home to get some rest." he grinned.

"I see.  Well, what do the doctors have to say?" I asked.

"I have a broken arm, a broken leg, and a bruised tailbone.  Oh, and a cut on one of my lungs." he said cringing a bit as he touched his chest.

"Sounds nice.  When do they say you'll be ok to leave?" I asked.

"They're not sure.  Right now they just want to keep an eye on me." he said, "So who was the other guy with you yesterday?" he continued grinning.

"Somebody." I said expressionless.

"Somebody you're seeing?" he laughed.

"Well, not that it's any of your business, but no.  We aren't seeing each other.  We're just friends." I snapped.

"Whoa!  Relax.  It was an innocent question." he pretended to act hurt.

"Well, innocent or not, still not any of your business.  Anyway, I'm glad to see you'll be alright.  I really must be going now." I grabbed Heather by the arm and pulled her towards the door.

"No goodbye?" James snickered.

"Bye." I said as we left.

**In the car*

"Ok whoa.  Holy heated!" Heather giggled.

"God he urkes me.  Oh well.   He's ok, and I can move on with my life now." I smiled.

"Speaking of 'somebody', where is Kevin?" she had on her investigators face.

"I'm not sure.  I called this morning, and got no answer.  He prolly had to do something with the band." I said.

"Ah.  Well Can you drop me off at the hotel please?" she asked.

"Uh..sure.  For what though?" I asked confused.

"Well, AJ and I are gonna go catch a movie this afternoon." she giggled.

"Oh I see where this is going!  You disgust me Heather!" I laughed.

"What?!  We aren't dating!   Yet..." she laughed too.

"I always knew that when you grew up you'd sink so low as to marry a rich man for his money!" I winked.

"OH AS IF!" she punched me playfully in the arm.

We finally made it to the hotel, even though traffic was really bad.

"You gonna come up and see Kevin?" she asked while getting out.

"No, I think I'll just call him later.   I don't want to show up uninvited." I smiled, "Have a good time at the movies!  And say hello to AJ for me!"

I sped out of the parking lot and was on my way home.

**About 15 minutes later*

I pulled on to my street and was thankful there was no traffic.  It was major hectic out on the roads today.  As I got closer to my house, I noticed someone was sitting on my front step.  I pulled into the driveway, and heard myself let out a sigh of relief when I saw Kevin look up with his gorgeous green eyes.  I got out of the car.

"Hey there!" I said smiling, "What are you doing here?"

"We were suppose to go to the hospital together today you know." he said with a sad face.

"I know.  I called you, but I got no answer.  I figured you were busy with band stuff, so I just went.  You didn't miss anything interesting anyway." I said trailing off.

"No...no band stuff today.  I actually woke up a bit early and walked over here to surprise you." he said looking as if he was really about to cry.  I wonder if he realized how noticeable he was being.  I thought it was so cute.  But it made me feel bad.

"I'm really sorry......" I walked over and kissed him on the cheek.  He face lit up immediately.  I laughed.

"Don't laugh at me!" he fake pouted.

"Want to come in for some lunch?" I asked him.

"Sure.  I'd love to." he smiled.

We walked in and I gave him a quick tour, purposely skipping my bedroom because it was a complete disaster.  We walked all through the house chatting about this and that.  Eventually we made our way back downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Ok.  Ham, Turkey, or Bologna sandwich?" I said with my face in the fridge.

"Hmm...turkey please." he said.

"Ok.  Cheese, lettuce and tomato?" I said my face still in the fridge.

"Sure." he giggled.

I pulled the stuff out of the fridge, and made us a couple of sandwiches.

"Ok...now we can either eat in the living toom, or we can go sit out on the patio in the back." I said.

"Hmm....patio." he smiled.

"Ok." I replied.

We walked out to the patio, and ate our sandwiches, conversing all the while about non-important things.  I did notice something different about Kevin though.  He wasn't high spirited.  Well not today I mean.  Usually he seemd more..."Alive".

"What's wrong Kevin?" I asked concerned.

He must of noticed the concern in my face cause he smiled.

"It's nothing really.  Just in a weird mood today.  That's all." he replied.

"Ok." I smiled back.

We again indulged in idle conversation.   Eventually we made our way into the house.  We were now in the living room discussing more....personal matters.

"So.  What's your family like?" Kevin asked me.  I was totally not expecting that kind of a question.

"Well....um..." I was totally blown away.

"That bad huh?" he burst out laughing.

I blushed majorly. "No!  Your question caught me off guard.  That's all." I tried to save my embarassment.

"Sure did.  Well it doesn't matter anyway." he laughed and gave me this weird look.

"What do you mean?" I was totally confused by this time.

"Well...if your family is anything like you, I'll love them!" he gave me an evil grin.

I laughed.  "What makes you think you'll ever meet my family?" I decided it was my turn to play.

"Uh....." he had a lost look on his face.

I tried not to laugh, but I ended up almost pissing myself.

"Very funny!" he laughed.

All in a split second, we stopped laughing and were just staring into each others eyes.  Neither of us wanted to look away apparently.  Or maybe..he couldn't look away.  Cause I know I couldn't.   Somehow, we managed to get close.  Close enough for our lips to touch.   My lips lightly brushed up against his.  It felt amazingly sensual.  We started to kiss.  Our tongues began to explore again.

"Kevin..." I stopped the kissing and stared into his eyes.

"Yes?" he smiled me.

"What does this all mean?" I asked.

He just sat there looking into my eyes deeply.

"I'm not sure." he said, "But I do know...that I like it 'all'." he smiled meaning the same all I had just asked about.

"I know.  I do too.  But it's scaring me." I said, "I kind of wasn't expecting anything.  I mean, I'm not saying I don't want this....just that it's not what I expected."

"Am I that ugly?" he playfully pouted.

I blushed, "No no.  I didn't mean you.   I mean this whole situation.  I didn't expect to feel this way again so soon.   I was practically dead inside.  But...you...you just keep reviving me."

"I don't know where this...we're heading Rick, but to be honest with you, I don't care.  It just seems so right at this moment." he said, beginning to kiss me again.

Ok well that was short...LOL  Sorry.  I was reading a story on here just before writing this chapter, and I kind of got all emotional.  I'll have to recheck the authors name, but the story 'Forever' has got to be one of the best I've read so far.   My god...I read Chapter 1-59 in one day.  Keep up the good work on that story DJ!  Yeah...I think that's his name...omg I'm gonna cry.....................  I'd be glad to see some thought's/ideas/comments/suggestions/and even tasteful criticism if you have the time (Just don't ask for me to implement more sex scenes.  I stand firmly on that subject.).   I'm available via: gussie@neoncrayon.com

Next: Chapter 7
