Life as I Know It 7- Josh's Point Of View

Dylan and I talked every night for the next week. Things were getting slow as well. I stayed with Dylan during Christmas and New Years. It felt great ringing in the year 2000 with someone you love. I was extremely excited that I got that chance. Rachel, Drew, and Jessie visited about a week after New Years. We all hung out for the week, until I had to go home, thanks to Justin.

Justin has been acting extremely weird about the whole Dylan situation. Even though he had helped me keep it a secret from the other bandmates, he hasn't been to psyched about Dylan and me being together. He was extremely upset when I didn't spend Christmas or New Years with his family and he was outraged when Dylan and I decided to move in together. About mid February, N'Sync had to do some promotional things in New York, since we published our new single. Everyone says out record should be out in March, but I wish it was earlier. We went to New York just around the same time Jessica Simpson went there. I had a big smile on my face.

We got to the hotel and I immediately ran to the front desk.

"Hello, um, I was hoping you could see if Dylan Turner is staying here," I asked.

"Sorry sir," the desk attendant said, "there is no person by that name."

I saddened as we all signed in to our hotel rooms. When I got to the room Justin and I shared, I immediately called Rachel's cell.

"Hello, Rachel Turner's office. How may I help you," Rachel asked.

"Rachel, it's Josh," I answered.

"Josh, oh hi! How are you?"

"I'm good. And you?"

"I'm ok, but we are all worried about Dylan. Have you heard from him?"

"Not in two weeks. I tried his cell and it says it's out of order. I want to go down there, but I am doing photo shoots and damn promotion interviews. However, he may be up here. Jessica Simpson is doing interviews in New York, where I am. I may see Jessica tonight so, she'll tell me where he is."

"Good, well, tell us if you find him."

We hung up as I turned to see Justin sitting staring at me.

"How does Jessica know Dylan," he asked.

"Dylan works for her," I answered.

I headed towards the door, when Justin followed.

"Where do you think your going," I asked him.

"Funny," he smiled, "that was my question to you.

"I'm going to visit Jessica."

"We are," he asked with a glee in his eye.

"Yes, I am. So seeya."

I headed out the door, when Justin grabbed my arm.

"Wait," Justin said," What is the deal with this guy, anyway. I mean, he's not all that attractive, he's not even rich."

"Well, Just, money and looks are not everything."

"This coming from Mr. Superficial? Come on, J.C. I've known you for quite a while now, and well your past relationships had a lot to do with checkbooks and good-looks."

"`Checkbooks and good looks?' Justin, did you get that from a Ricki Lake Show theme?"

"Don't kid, Josh, you know what I mean. You've never gone out with a guy just because you `like' him. What, is sex with this guy that great."

"JUSTIN!"

"Josh, I am sorry, but prove me wrong. Can you do that?"

I looked at him and knew he was right. From Brian to Tony, to even the one night-stand with Tyson, it was all about either money or looks, and sometimes a combination of both.

"Thought so," he continued. "Listen, Joshua. I love you like a brother. You've been there for me when I need it and I hope I've been there for you when you need it, but let's be honest. That guy doesn't fall into any category of relationships that you usually have. So I just want to know what's the big deal with him."

"What's the big deal with him, huh? Well, Justin I'll tell you the big deal. Dylan, unlike the other's, doesn't take shit from anybody. He told me off to my face, something most guys would never do. Maybe I am crazy, or I am not thinking straight, but I can honestly say that I love Dylan. He is my boyfriend, and I will fight heaven and earth to be with him forever. So, you want to know the deal? I love him."

I slammed the door in Justin's face and broke down in the hallway. I was crying on the floor next to the door when Justin came out.

"Um, wow, J.C.," Justin whispered. "I didn't know how you felt. I mean I've heard you say you love people, but Josh, you mean it this time. You really do love him."

I nodded in silence I wiped the tears away.

"Well, here is what we will do. I have Jessica's cell number. Let's just call her."

I got up and followed Justin back into our room. He got on the telephone and said his "hi's" and other sociable things. Then he asked her about Dylan. He then nodded and said, "Ok, see you then." As he hung up the telephone, he looked at me.

"Um, Josh," he said," Jessica told us to meet her at the Hard Rock Cafe."

"Hard Rock Cafe," I questioned," why do we have to meet her there?"

"She just said to meet her there."

And so we were off; Justin and me, to meet Jessica Simpson, Justin's ex-girlfriend, to talk about my boyfriend. The cab ride was quiet. I stared at the window, while, I think, Justin stared at me. I knew he was worried. I've never acted like this. I mean, all my relationships were just for lust or financial security, incase my career flops, but with Dylan, it's actually love. I've never felt like this with anyone, and well, I never wanted to.

With traffic in New York, the cab actually pulled up to the Hard Rock Cafe, like, and hour after we called Jessica. We entered and there she was. She happily stood up and greeted Justin and I.

"So, Jessica," I started, "is Dylan here in New York? And why did we have to meet you?"

"Josh," Jessica started, "Dylan is not in New York. He's still in Florida."

"No, he's not," I argued. "I've tried calling him and he never answers. It's been two weeks since I've talked to him."

"Josh, Dylan was fired. They said they wanted a female to take the job of clothing me. The last I heard of him, he asked if he could borrow money because he spent it all."

Justin looked at me while Jessica's words punched me in the gut. I didn't know what was worse, Dylan being broke, or him not asking me. I whipped out my cell phone and called his house, this time to here that the number had been disconnected. Worried, I looked at Justin.

"Just, I have to go down there and find him," I whispered in his ear.

"But Josh," he said.

"Justin. I-I love him."

With that I headed out the door and took the subway back to the hotel. When I got there, I whipped out my cell again and called Rachel and Drew.

To Be Continued.
