First, let me apologize for the lateness in past episodes of this story. I recently got a new job, then a week later I came down with bronchitis, which has made working and walking to the computer's at school hard. I will, however, try to put out new episodes as soon as possible. Thank you.
Life As I Know It 10- Factors Of Change
It had to be around 12:30 when Bernard McAlester sauntered into his office. Myself, Josh, Drew, Rachel, and my mother waited patiently as Bernard set his suitcase down and looked at the door.
"Excuse me," Drew stood and looked at Bernard, "remember us, Bernie. Andrew Turner? Robert's son. Dylan is over there."
"Drew," Bernard smiled, "I know who you are, but as policy of the reading of this will, I cannot start until all the parties are here."
"Oh," Drew smiled, "Well, Jessica, my daughter, she didn't want to be apart of this. She is out with a friend."
"Remind me to thank Justin for spending the day with her," I whispered to Josh.
"Promise," He smiled back.
"Well then, whom are we waiting for," My mother questioned everyone.
Just then, Juan Domingo walked in and sat in the back of the room.
"Juan Domingo, I assume," Bernard said.
Juan stood up, gave a nod, and sat back down. He took his white coat and placed it over his lap, followed by his beaver-skinned hat. I must admit, the man was dressed to kill.
Ok, Let's get started, shall we," Bernard smiled, as he popped in the VCR tape.
Meanwhile, Jessie and Justin where living it up in Kansas City. I rented a Ferrari for the day for them to keep Jessie's mind clear-headed. They drove to a movie and then to eat, before Jessie suggested that they just go to her grandfather's house to talk.
"I am sorry to hear about your grandfather," Justin said as he plopped onto the couch.
"It's ok. When he was nice, he was a great man, you know," she smiled.
"And when he wasn't, if you don't mind he prying."
"When he wasn't, it was only to Dilly. That's what I call my Uncle Dylan; Dilly. Well, granddaddy didn't like that he was gay. He treated him like trash, even in front of me."
"But you are ok with your uncle being gay?"
"Of course. That doesn't change who he is. It's just a part of him. Are you ok with Josh being gay?"
Jessie sat next to Justin and held his hand.
"Well," Justin started, "it's weird. I mean, I am not gay at all, but to think your best friend is, someone you looked up to and trusted all your life being gay, it freaks you out. But I am ok with it."
"That's cool. Let's talk about something else. Or play a game."
"Like what?"
Jessie ran into the kitchen and came back out with some sodas and a big smile.
"Truth or dare," she yelled with glee.
"-so to Andrew and Rachel, I leave the house to do as there will, and all financial assets in my banks. Yes I said plural. I had four banks, and you, Andrew get two. Bernard will explain everything after the tape is over. That is all."
Just like that the tape of my father went black. Nothing was said about Juan and I, which made me think why I was here. I stood up just as the tape turn color again.
"Hello, this is to add to my will and testament. When the last will was made, I was hoping Hector would explain everything, but he passed before I, unfortunately. First of all, I would like to say that everything in the past will is still sound. Andrew, Rachel, Jessica, and Meredith will get what I said they would. The addition is partially for Drew, but mainly for Juan Domingo and Dylan Turner, the two I didn't mention last time.
"First I would like to say that I am sorry for all the lies I've caused you during my time of living. I feel so bad doing that to you. Most of the lies, Juan and Dylan have already spoke of, I am sure, but the one that none of you knew is- Well, let me start at the beginning. When Hector's daughter wanted a baby, we were happy and pleased. But she wanted a father that she could trust, that was not her own father. After lots of begging and pleading, I gave in. Juan, I am your biological father. It was a favor to Hector and your mother and I am so proud of that decision. You grew up into a fine young man, like your half brothers. Now, Andrew, Dylan, I want you to except him into the family, treat him like he's one of your own. Now that Hector, his mother, and I are gone, you boys are Juan's only family.
"Lastly, There are two bank accounts that both Hector and I shared. With the bank accounts, was a business Hector started. I want to leave each bank account and part of the business to Juan and Dylan. Juan is an excellent businessman and Dylan; your artistry would help bring the business to live again. Also thank you for taking care of me, Dylan. That was the best thing you could ever do for me. These, are my final words."
The tape again went blank, as well as everyone's faces, except Bernard's. In stood up again, as well as Drew. We looked over at Juan, who was crying immensely. I walked up to him and stood him up.
"Welcome to the family," I said as I hugged him.
"Yeah," Drew smiled, "Welcome, little bro."
Drew grabbed Juan into a hug as well. My mother stood up and walked towards the door. She looked at Juan with hurt before she left.
"Listen, why don't you guys go to Calvin's Pizza. Tell him I'm coming. I will meet you there."
"Want me to come too," Josh smiled.
"Well, would you be mad if I said no," I asked him.
"As long as you meet us at Calvin's," he smiled.
I kissed him on the cheek and rushed off to follow my mother. When I got outside, her car was gone. So I took dad's old car and drove to places I'd thought she'd be. I drove all around Kansas City, finally stopping at dad's house. When I saw the Ferrari there, I was glad.
"Maybe Justin and Jessie can help," I whispered as I hopped out the car. I reached for my keys inside my pocket and fiddled until I found the right one. I put the key in the hole and turned. As I pushed the door open, I heard loud grunting sounds. I thought Jessie was hurt. I swung the door open, and there was Justin and Jessie naked on the couch that Josh and I where on last night.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON," I yelled as Justin stopped his pumping and Jessie's face turned to fright.
To Be Continued.
