Of course grandpa is the "master", but only out of the house, as I told you. In the house the grand-master is grandma Ersilia, and Tano toes the line with her.
It is not true that grandpa is a dictator. He often says (and also Ersilia repeats it), "When I say - 'I think thatÉ' I expect you all to think and discuss the matter. But when I say - 'it is to be done so', then all of you have to do as I say, and to do it well!"
He listens to us and he even asks our opinion quite often, even us grown up boys. Before deciding any matter, he always thinks carefully about it and evaluates our opinions.
But then that's all. "If the embankment is about to crumble down, it isn't the time to discuss if the team leader is right telling to put the sand bags in one way or another, as this means only losing precious time. Discussions have to be made out of the emergency, before it or after, if there is a need." my formidable grandpa always says.
It's not that I don't believe in democracy, I really believe in it; in fact there is no better system for our society. But a family is a rather special and different kind of society - we live together every single day, we do everything together, the democracy rules don't make so much sense. Also because, if I don't like the house rules, I can always do as Tano did and leave the house, and to NEVER go back.
The harmony that reigns in the Citadel, although not lacking in animated discussions, makes me think I am right. At times we have discussions, but never quarrels.
Let me quote two more of grandpa's sayings, "Who raises his hands to another, is an animal. Who doesn't listen to the other's reasons is a beast."
I know that grandpa never beat his wife or his children, not even with just a fingerÉ That is, no, he did it just once - when he came to know that his son Federico beat his wife Loredana. Grandpa Tano went to talk with her, asked her to tell him in every detail how, and where, and how much her husband beat her, then took Federico and gave him a beating twice hard as he did to his wife. He then said him, "Be careful, as if it happens again, next time you will get four times what you gave her." It is in that occasion that the first part of his saying came out, "Who raises his hands to another is an animal".
Another saying is, "Only a caveman could do everything by himself. We can live thanks to the others' work, people we don't ever know, in every part of the world. Therefore you have to work for others, that you don't even know, in every part of the world. But you cannot be in peace with the world if you aren't in peace with yourself and with your family."
In reality grandpa says these things always in verses, I don't know how he can improvise so well his rhymesÉ I repeat them with my words. But anyway I'm gathering the "rhymes of Gaetano Sr.", and one day I will make you read them. Bye for now, my Luca. Read the sixth part of our sagaÉ

SIXTH FILE
We are now almost getting to the present times. In February 2000, we received a very "accurate" visit from the Revenue Officers of the Regional Headquarter of Bologna. They turned all our account books upside down, going over them with a fine-tooth comb, splitting hairs, making us go through several days of torture.
We didn't have anything to hide, we never did anything dishonest or dirty; grandpa Gaetano, from the first days of our business, always paid all the taxes, including the unjust ones, all the assessments, IVA, ILOR, IRPEF and what's more, to the last penny. Moreover Federico, who is our accountant, has always been very scrupulous and neat. But you know how it is when they want to squeeze you, they always find something; also because even if you know and abide by all the laws, application regulations, decrees and interpretative memorandums that pour from Rome more frequently than the rain in the most rainy parts of Italy, it is never certain that you didn't make a mistake.
So the family council convenes, to see if we might have some good contacts at the right level to end what was becoming, day after day, a real persecution. But, it could be weird, it seems that we have really no hooks in that field, or to say it in a more clear way, nobody who might be interested in our "special services".
Michele, who is twenty-seven, who always helped his father Federico in the administrative department, spends all his time in our offices to take out the records and to keep an eye what the agents do. Two of them, besides being real hunks, give Michele the impression, for some glances they throw to him, they could be "family". One is called Massimo and is a Calabrian, the other one, Massimiliano, is a native of the Marche and is the handsomest of the two agents. So Michele thinks that it could be interesting, and useful, to verify his suspects.
Unnoticed, Michele shoots several pictures of them with his digital camera, a Sony. He also tries to understand, chatting with them when they do a break and we offer them a coffee, where they live in Bologna - both are singles and not yet thirty years old, therefore they still have to live in the barracks. Michele one evening, back in the Citadel, calls Dario, Renato, Aldo, Lino and Silvio, who the agents never met, and tells them they have to go to Bologna and shadow, of course unseen, the two hunk agents to see what they do in their free time, during their leaveÉ
The investigation of the agents lasts for several weeks, in fact the records they need to check, and so carefully, are a large quantity, given the vastness of our family business. So our boys start to do their own "investigation". First of all they discover that Massimiliano regularly attends a gym, so Renato and Lino join the gym and try to buttonhole him and so sound him out. They then discover that Massimo often goes to a "mixed" disco that is where straight, gay and lesbians usually go. So Dario and Silvio start to assiduously go at that disco. They finally also discover that both of them, about once a week, go to meet somebody in an old mansion in the center of town, not far from King Enzo Palace, and they try to understand who they are going to visit.
This task is Aldo's duty. And there, while the other four boys seem to get nothing in the gym or in the disco, Aldo gets an incredible stroke of good luck.
Aldo saw Massimiliano and Massimo enter the mansion's gate and take the stairway to the right. He cannot follow them too closely, in order not to be seen, and when he thinks he can climb that stairway he hears, some floors upstairs, the ring of a doorbell, a door open, the voices of the two agents and of another man, whose words he can't clearly hear, then the door closing. But he can't figure out which floor they were on.
He is asking himself what he should do, if should go to eavesdrop at all the doors, or else if he should just take all the names on the mail boxes, and he opts for this solution, but his disappointment is big when he sees that both on the street bell plate and on the mail boxes there are no names, but only numbers, from A1 to A16É
He is about to abandon the building when he hears the lift door, which is in front of the mail boxes; it opens and somebody comes out.
A voice calls him, "Aldo! Aldo Lombardi!"
He turns back and recognizes an old friend, a former high school mate called Oreste, a boy of twenty-one years of age like him, that he had lost contact with. When they were both sixteen, they had a short flirt, but it didn't last as Aldo discovered that Oreste was hustling in order to get money to amuse himself and to buy dope. We Leonardi always keep well away from any kind of dope, even the so-called soft drugs like marijuana.
"Oreste! What are you doing here?" Aldo asks him, at once guessing that his former friend can possibly be useful to his inquiry.
"Oh, nothing, I just wasted my time. I had a date upstairs, at Giorgio's, but my john didn't come. I waited for him more than an hourÉ what a fucking nuisance!"
"Ah, about GiorgioÉ Do you know that I can't seem to remember what number he is in? Is it the A6?" Aldo asks.
"What's that, are you going there alone?" Oreste asks with a giggle.
"Of course not. I planned to bring a boy here, but I wanted to be sure of the number, and also how much he charges for a roomÉ" Aldo lies, in a careless tone.
"He's in A8, and he charges always fifty for a maximum of three hoursÉ" Oreste tells him, then with a cunning smile, says, "Wouldn't you take me upstairs, this time?"
"Why not? But how much will you charge me?" Aldo says, as after all he likes Oreste, and wants to see the apartment and how it works.
"For you, and out of our old friendship, I'll come for fiftyÉ" Oreste says.
So they settle and Aldo goes upstairs with his former classmate. Up there they do what they like, Aldo chats a little with him and gets some information - in the apartment there are six bedrooms, where not only hustlers with their johns, but also couples go sometimes when they don't have a place. It could be the case of the two agentsÉ Aldo thinks.
But when they are leaving, they meet Massimiliano with a boy who says bye to Oreste.
When Aldo and Oreste are again on the street, Aldo asks him, "Do you know that boy who was with the hunk?"
Yes, he is a Rumanian hustler, his name is Horia, he is nineteen years old. The other one instead is a Revenue Agent, he has also fucked with me a couple times."
"A Revenue Agent?" asks Aldo pretending not to believe it.
"Yes, there are three or four of them in his barracks who are head over heels faggotsÉ And Giorgio gives them the room for free, in change for someÉ protection." Oreste giggles.
"Ah, and where do those agents go to cruise?" Aldo then asks.
"What's that, are you interested in that hunk you just saw?" Oreste cunningly asks him.
"WellÉ" Aldo nods.
"You know how it is, they have to be very carefulÉ If their big boss discovers themÉ they will be in a bitter fucking shit." his friend tells him and gives him the address of a bar where he can hook up with them.
Aldo, as it seemed that at least Massimiliano liked young boys, informs Lino and Silvio and with them they start to go to the bar where the "contacts" happen. And they are lucky, because first Massimo hooks Lino then also Aldo hooks Massimiliano, and they take them to that Giorgio's place where they fuck.
At this point, once the two Agents are in our offices to carry on their investigations, Michele has Lino and Aldo go there and he introduces them as his cousinsÉ Massimiliano and Massimo of course recognise them and become pale and extremely nervous. As soon as they get to be alone with the two boys with a pretext, it's clear that the two agents fear to be blackmailedÉ Then Lino and Aldo call Michele who reassures them, telling them he doesn't intend to blackmail them, they just want to find a way to make that incredibly maddening inquiry go away.
"I swear that we Leonardi have nothing to hide, we never did anything illegal, but you are giving us a lot of headaches." Michele concludes.
"Yes, I am totally aware, but what can we do? We have to obey our orders andÉ the orders are to split hairs as you said. Massimiliano and I cannot find anything wrong, but there are anyway also the other agentsÉ
Then Massimiliano says, "There is possibly a way to make all this stopÉ Our captain is one ÓfamilyÓ, and he, in spite of being married, likes sixteen, seventeen year old boysÉ if one of you, even though you are older, could manage to get into his bedÉ possiblyÉ"
"No, he only likes younger boys, and he never comes to look for them where we goÉ He goes into the arcades to find his boys, and he takes them to a bachelor's flat that he owns behind the BastionsÉ" Massimo objects.
Michele says, "My nephew Gaetano is exactly sixteen years old, and he is a really beautiful boyÉ if you can just tell us where your captain goes to search for his boys, and whenÉ"
So this time it is up to me. I dress in the most possibly sexy way even though avoiding being cheeky and showy, and I start to go to the arcade that the two agents told us about, in the evening before supper. The third evening the captain comes in and looks around with the eyes of a hungry fox. Our eyes meet, and I hint a "shy" smile and at once move my eyes away.
He is soon at my side, looking at how I'm playing, underlining my scores or the lost points with short agreeable comments, we buttonhole, he offers me some tokens to go on playingÉ Then he offers me an ice cream in a nearby bar and we chatÉ it's evident he likes me and in fact at the end he invites me to "drop in" on his place just to show me his collection of ancient weaponsÉ
With the pretext of going a moment to the toilet, I call Michele with my mobile phone and tell him that it is done. I then go out with the captain who takes me to his bachelor's flat. And we are soon in his bed.

So finally the Revenue officers inquiry ceases, with a nice official report where it is written that "everything resulted to be in perfect order, and no irregularities of any kind has been detected". As, anyway, it was true.
I'm going now to tell you about Fulvio, who in 2000 was fourteen years old. Fulvio is one of my father's cousins, even though he is younger than me. I have to say that he seems older than his real age, even now that he is sixteen, you could think he is of age. This is possibly also because he works out a lot and his body is well developed, or maybe this comes from the fact that Fulvio hit puberty quite earlyÉ I don't know.
Be it as it may be, Fulvio is in Milan with his cousin Renato, who is nine years older than him therefore that year he is twenty-three, and with uncle Fabrizio. Fabrizio and Renato have to make some contracts with two chains of supermarkets; therefore they have conferences, meetings and are quite busy. Therefore Fulvio goes around to tour the city by himself, and they will meet only in the evening in the hotel, after they had supper.
Fulvio is looking for the Science and Technology Museum, because he is a fan of Leonardo da Vinci, so he asks a young man he meets on his way for directions. The young man, who has to be around twenty-five years old, tells him he can see him to the museum, as he lives very close to it. They therefore walk a stretch of streets together, and they chat. It is April, the sky is cloudy but the weather is mild. But all of a sudden it starts to rain with such violence that they both are soon soaked from head to toe, because they can't get to a shelter in time.
When they finally find a bar to go into, they are dripping water all around and their hair is glued to their faces. The young man orders two cappuccinos, offering one to Fulvio. Outside the downpour is going on. They sip the cappuccinos and Fulvio starts to sneeze.
"In such a state, you'll catch a coldÉ" the young man says, "You would be better to go home and change your clothes."
"I'm in a hotel with my uncle, but only he has the key and will not be back until this evening; moreover the hotel is far from hereÉ" Fulvio says.
Then the young man says, "Well, as I told you, I live nearby. If you want to come to my place, I can give you something dry to wear while we try to dry your clothes. So I too can changeÉ" and addresses him with a warm and inviting smile.
Fulvio looks at him and for the first time thinks that possibly he can also get something more interesting, as he likes this young manÉ
"Thank you, I don't want to be a nuisanceÉ" he says, and then adds, "By the way, my name is Fulvio Leonardi. And you, sir?"
"How do you do, Fulvio. I am Giulio Savelli (I changed his name as he is a famous personÉ). But don't call me sir, call me just Giulio, please."
So they go at Giulio's apartment and the young man tells him, "Now undress and take a hot shower. Leave your clothes out of the shower box door, so I can put them to dry."
Fulvio does as he is told. He hears Giulio enter the bathroom and pick up his clothes while he, under the warm water spray, is starting to wash himself. The young man goes to hang Fulvio's clothes on a line, then goes back to the bathroom bringing a bathrobe that he leaves near the shower's door and through the frosted glass he looks at the beautiful silhouette of Fulvio. Then he too rapidly undresses and, naked, knocks at the box glass.
"May I come in and have a shower with you?" he asks.
"Of course!" Fulvio answer, feeling glad.
The young man opens the sliding glass door, looks at him from head to toe, then says, "Good lord, how handsome you are!"
Fulvio smiles, "You too are handsomeÉ Come in!"
Giulio enters and Fulvio closes the door behind him. He turns and embraces Giulio, leaning against him and they kiss. They caress each other under the pelting warm water and soon both of them have a nice hard-on and brush with desire against each other.
"I want youÉ" Giulio murmurs, totally turned on.
"YesÉ let's dry and take me to your bedÉ" my uncle answers him, excited.
They dry, Giulio takes his hand and naked as they are, leads him to his bed, a king size bed. They are eating two scrambled eggs with toasted bread, when they hear a key turn in the entrance door.

Also Fulvio jumps up, "I'll go into the shower, you try to wear somethingÉ" and runs towards the bathroom.
But the wife is already in the apartment and two men are with her, her brother and her father. All of them see Fulvio running naked towards the bathroom and Giulio also naked coming out from the kitchen. And it is a Greek tragedy!
To make a long story short, Giulio's wife received an anonymous letter telling her that her husband had a weakness for minor boys and took them to bed with him every time she, a famous actress, was away to shoot a movie. As Giulio is quite rich, owning a national and international transportations firm, she decided to catch him red-handed to get a divorce, the custody of their children and above all a conspicuous sum of money. Therefore, with the pretext she had to go out of Milan for her work, in accord with her father and brother, they shadowed Giulio several times to catch him in the act. And this time they succeeded.
The biggest problem is that Fulvio is not yet sixteen therefore even if he says he is consenting, by the law Giulio would be a corruptor of minors. But Fulvio is shrewd. First of all, back in the bathroom, he puts on the bathrobe then, while the others are discussing, or to better say quarrelling aloud in the entrance room, he stealthily goes into the bedroom, makes the condom disappear just throwing it out of the window, carefully tidies the bed, and finally, with an innocent expression, goes to the entrance room and stops on the door threshold, as if he was amazed by what was happening.
Fulvio heard, so loud they all were talking, that up to that moment Giulio denied everythingÉ also evidence, as he is still there as naked as his mother delivered him. The father of the woman seizes Fulvio by his arm.

Fulvio puts up an amazed face and says, "What I did? Nothing. I just had a shower and he was going to have one, because rain soaked usÉ What's happening?"
"Who do you think would swallow that? I bet you are just a cheap hustler! But he will end up in jail and you in a reform school!"
Fulvio, with a brazenly innocent face, asks, "What's a cheap hustler? And why should I end in a reform school? What did Mister Savelli do to end up in jail?"
"What did he do?" her brother burst out, very angry, "He shoved his cock in your arse, that is what he did, that stinking faggot!"
Fulvio, hoping that Giulio would play along with him, goes on acting, pretending to get even more angered than the others, "What? I don't do such filthy things! Are you crazy or what? And he didn't touch me not even with a finger, or I would have kicked him in the balls! Oh, shit, all this mess for a shower!" then says to her father, "And you, take your hands from me or else my father will make you pay dearly!"
Giulio got the prompting and manages to play his part quite well, but the three are all but placated, what they saw seems to be more than evident. Then Fulvio goes to shut himself in the bathroom calls his uncle with his cell-phone, explains him in a whisper what happened and asks him for help. The uncle asks him the address, but Fulvio doesn't know it, he didn't think to check for it, so he tells him it is in a building in front of the museum where he planned to go.
He then goes out of the bathroom, tells everybody that his uncle and cousin are waiting for him in front of the museum and that he wants to go and meet them. The three say he can forget it, and Fulvio tells them that if they don't let him go, he will report them for kidnapping. I have to say that Fulvio really had balls, to be just fourteen years old. As the three really flew off the handle, Fulvio asks, looking at Giulio, the address of that apartment. Giulio tells him. So Fulvio takes his cell-phone and calls the police. The three try to snatch the phone from his hands, but Giulio interposes. Fulvio calls the police then his uncle again and gives him the apartment's address.
Almost at the same time arrive the police and uncle Fabrizio with Renato, in a taxi. In the apartment there is an incredible confusion and all the neighbours are on the stairs trying to understand what's happening. The police write a report of the wife and the witness of her relatives, the declarations of Giulio who confirms Fulvio's story, and Fulvio's declarations, who is now assisted and protected by his uncle and his cousin, who show to be angered and scandalised that somebody could think evil of the kidÉ
Finally Fulvio can leave the apartment with Fabrizio and Renato, after giving Giulio their address, in case their testimony would be necessary in an eventual trial.
Well, everything ends in nothing, as the lawyer of the Leonardis, together with the lawyer of Giulio, persuade the wife's lawyer that it would be better to let everything drop, as besides the scandal that would come out of it, they risk to lose the lawsuit anyway. Giulio gets a divorce, then to thank the Leonardis for their help, signs a contract with us to transport our goods at really competitive prices, more than favourable.
And Fulvio goes to meet Giulio a couple of times to have sex with him, as he really liked that man!
Still in 2000, just before Christmas, another interesting thing happens.
Lino, who is nineteen, on December eighth marries a girl he likes, and who got the family's approval. You have to know also that Lino is bisexual, but he is leaning more towards women. Anyway he never had a problem carrying out his "duty" for the family's good.
Of course also Lino's wife, Anna Rosa, as all the women of our family, has been informed before the marriage about our peculiar family politics, and she too accepts our rules, just asking Lino to promise her he would never go with another woman.
December ninth they leave for their honeymoon. As it is winter, they go to the Comoros islands where it is summer, as an uncle of Anna Rosa has an hotel there, in the capital Moroni. The population of the Comoros is quite mixed - French, Bantu, Madagascans and Arabs, and the official language is French, as the Comoros are an overseas French territory.
Lino and Anna Rosa settle and start their vacation that should last for three weeks. But after about ten days, Anna Rosa gets typhoid fever as she quite certainly ate on the beach something she bought by a strolling seller, and it wasn't fresh or clean enough. So she has to be urgently taken to the hospital.
Lino goes to see her every day, but then, for the rest of the time, he has nothing to do, he is alone, and gets bored. Therefore he often sits in the hotel lobby, with a fed up expression, to kill time, because on the island there is not so much to see or to do, and he doesn't like to be on the beach for hours to bake under the sun.
One of the hotel guests, a young Frenchman called Claude, at a certain point buttonholes him, and Lino is glad, at least he can pass some time with company. Claude is not beautiful, but is an interesting person, has a likeable personality and above all is good company. He too is alone, he is there for work but he has plenty of free time, therefore the two youths, in just two or three days get to be almost always together.
Lino tells him what happened to his wife, so Claude says, "Shit, what bad luck for you too, who now have toÉ sleep alone!"
"Well, yes, it's everything but easy, the urge is there and even strongÉ But I promised Anna that I will never look at other girls, another woman, and soÉ"
"And you are the faithful kind?"
"Of course, I never promise something I'm not able to keep."
"Not even with a prostitute?" Claude insists.
"Of course not, also a prostitute is a woman, isn't she? No female sex beingÉ" Lino says, trying to give his new friend a message, as he would like to do something with him.
Claude possibly gets the message, as he says, "Well, happily in this world there aren't only girlsÉ" and looks at him with an allusive little smile.
"That's right. And you? You possibly have a girlfriend, but possibly in France, as here I never saw you with a womanÉ"
"No. I never felt at ease with girls, besides just chatting with them, and just as friendsÉ"
"AhÉ and then, Claude, how do you do? At your age I'm sure that you too feel the urge, don't you?"
Claude looks at him almost in a challenging way, then repeats, "Well, in this world there aren't only girls. One can get his amusement also in other waysÉ"
Lino decides that he can dare risking, "Well, yes, one can also amuse himself with a handsome boy, if he finds the right oneÉ"
Claude nods and smiles, "True. And here some of the boys are more than available, especially with the tourists, if it's done in a very discreet wayÉ"
"For money?" Lino asks, pretending to be astounded.
"No, or not only, anyway. At times possibly a small gift, cheap things, like a T-shirt, you see, even just old jeans, before leaving the islandÉ"
"AndÉ is it easy to find such boys?" finally Lino asks.
"If you are interestedÉ" finally Claude says, "I have a couple of friends here in Moroni, with whom I often meet. One of them is of Arab stock, his family came from Yemen, although he was born here; his name is Samir, he is a taxi driver and is twenty-two years old. The other one instead is a black boy, sweet like dark chocolate, his name is Raoul, he is twenty-four years old and is Samir's boyfriend. Raoul is switchboard operator at the Chamber of Commerce, I first met him thereÉ Of course, provided that you have no problems with boys of other ethnic groupsÉ"
"No, all to the contraryÉ But if they are a coupleÉ" Lino objects.
"They are an open couple, although very united. They have lived together for five years and I have known them for two years, since the first time I came here to Moroni. Last year they finally could buy a little apartment just in front of the port. They are both very likeable boys andÉ they both are available to do everything. So, does that appeal to you? May I arrange a meeting?"
Lino willingly accepts, so Claude calls the Chamber of Commerce switchboard, talks with Raoul and settles a meeting for that same evening in a small restaurant at the port. Lino tries to imagine how the two boys can be, what types Claude might like. In the worst case, he can possibly have sex anyway with Claude, who he likes.
They meet. Lino once described Samir and Raoul to me, so I will try to tell you in my turn how they were.
Raoul isn't a Madagascan but a Bantu, he is about one meter eighty tall, slender and with the nimble body of a swimmer, very short, black and frizzy hair, bright eyes and smile, and gentle manners. He also has a discrete culture, as he got a primary school teacher diploma, even though, as he couldn't find a teacher's job, he works as an operator. Samir instead is about one meter seventy-five tall, he too has a nimble and slender body but somewhat more muscled than his boyfriend, dark eyes, strong eyebrows, wavy black hair, thin but sensual lips, an expression normally serious but that at times opens up into a shy and sweet smile.
After Claude introduced them, they eat together and talk a little about themselves to start to get acquainted. Lino feels attracted to both the boys, besides Claude, and he is already foreseeing an agreeable night in their company. Also the two young lovers seem to feel a liking and attraction towards Lino, at least judging by the way they are looking at him and talking with him.
Lino told me that the two youths met in jailÉ Raoul was then nineteen, he just got his teacher's diploma, and was put in for a brawl - he broke the nose of a French soldier who abused him. He had to serve a nine months sentence. Samir was seventeen, and had been jailed because he was caught hustling, they caught him red-handed in the port's toilets, during a police raid, and he was sentenced for lewd acts in a public place, and had to serve six months time.
The other inmates, who came to know that he was a hustler, target Samir at once. They want to make him their bitch. Also Raoul, who had been in for two months already, ogles the boy that he at once likes, and is trying to find a way to do something with him, therefore he always keeps an eye on him hoping he can meet him in private and make his proposal to him. But Samir, guessing what can happen to him in jail, because of his age, his handsomeness and the fact that he's a hustler, is quite scared and he always makes sure to never be aloneÉ
But one day, when Raoul goes to the shower room, he hears a commotion and as he enters he sees that four men have surrounded Samir and are pushing him into a corner with the evident purpose to rape him. Raoul at first goes out and tells the warden what's happening and asks him to intervene. But the warden answers with laughter and an obscene sentence and doesn't seem to move. So Raoul goes in again and decides to intervene. He tells the four men to leave Samir alone, as he is his boy and he will kill anyone who tries to put his hands on him.
It seems as if a brawl is about to start, but then one of the men leaves, then anotherÉ and finally Samir and Raoul are alone.
Samir asks him, "Why did you take this risk to rescue me?"
"Because I like you and would like you to really become my boy."
Samir doesn't answer, turns his back to him and goes on washing himself, while Raoul does so also. They go out, for a couple days nothing happens, when they meet they look at each other, but none of them utters a word.
Then one evening Samir approaches him and asks, "Do you want me to become your whore?"
"No, I would like you to become my boy. You aren't a woman, and I don't like women or effeminate boys. Moreover, he adds with a smile, "one has to pay for a whore, and I've no money or valuable things to give youÉ"
"But you want to fuck me."
"Yes, of course I would like that, you have a really nice little arseÉ but I would also like to be fucked by you, if you like doing it and if I'm your typeÉ Also your cock is rather niceÉ"
"ThenÉ tonight I'll come to your bunkÉ"
So their relationship starts. They meet on Raoul's bed, as it is the most secluded, they just hang a blanket in front of it to have a minimum of privacy. Raoul has to face a good punch up a couple of times to reaffirm his "right" on Samir, but all summed up they don't meet too many problems. Possibly also because the other inmates know that as Raoul is the most educated in there, he is on very good terms with the jail's warden, as he helps him with the office work.
First Samir is set free and a month later Raoul also. The two boys meet again, as Moroni has a little more than ten thousand inhabitants. They decide to try to live together, and they fall in love with each other. Then Samir stops hustling, gets a driver's license, they buy an old taxi together from an old uncle of Raoul's who wants to retireÉ
After supper all four go to the boy's place and start to make love. Lino says that it is not an orgy, they do it in couples, even if they swap partners, so that Lino gets a "taste" of all three of them.
After that first evening, they all meet again quite often, be it just to be together like good friends, be it to have sex like the first time or just two of them or three. Lino says that Samir is one of the rare Arabs who admit without any problem he is gay, without being effeminate and even less a transvestite.
When finally Anna Rosa is discharged from the hospital, it's time for them to go back to Italy. Lino anyway is still in touch, even if just by mail, with Claude, as well as with Raoul and Samir.
The last thing that I want to write here happens in February 2001, that is exactly one month before Luca and I met.
This story is again about my grandpa Gaetano, who is at this point seventy-six years old even though he doesn't look his age at all. Gaetano senior decides he wants to have a family gravesite built in Lugo's cemetery, there to prepare a place for himself and Ersilia, and also move his child Enrico, and two others of us who died in the previous years.
So he contacts an architect and asks him to design a project, explaining to him how he wants our family grave to be. He doesn't want one of the usual chapels or little house-like mausoleums. He wants a square of ground, with a weeping willow in one corner and under it the statue in Carrara marble representing the Good Shepherd, portrayed as a half naked adolescent with a lamb on his shoulders. He wants him to be like "any little shepherd" in memory of his childhood on the Molise Mountains. He then wants a stele with the names and dates of all the people buried there, but without pictures and in front of it a bench, all in Carrara white marble as well. On the back of the stele there should be hidden the access to the underground cell, where there will be the real graves.
The architect then introduces him to a couple of his sculptor friends. Gaetano goes to see their work to understand their style and make his choice. He also finds out that one of them is the grandson of that Corrado, thank to whom he came here to the North. He tells him so and the sculptor, who is also called Corrado like his grandfather, tells him that he heard that story from his grandfather before he died, and also that he is as well gay like his grandfather.
Grandpa Tano likes that young man. He also likes the style of his statues, therefore he entrusts him with the work order. Grandpa Tano goes often to see how the work is proceeding and one day he sees that the sculptor has a half naked boy of about seventeen who is posing for the statue. He is a beautiful boy, dark skinned, with curly hair, who vaguely resembles grandpa when he was a teenager.
So grandpa Tano asks the sculptor, "Where did you find this kid?"
"He is my boyfriend, his name is Laslo, he is the son of gypsies, but when we fell in love he quit his tribe and stayed to live here with me, also because his people didn't accept his homosexuality."
"Have you been together for a long time?"
"Two years. When I met him he was just fifteen."
"How did you meet?" grandpa asks, curious.
He notices that they exchange a glance, then the sculptor smiles and the boy shrugs his shoulders and smiles back.
"One day, while I was working here in my studio, I heard a strange noise coming from my upstairs apartment, that should have been deserted. I don't even have cats or dogs that could have knocked down something. Therefore I went upstairs and caught Laslo who was attempting to get out the window with a bag full of what he was attempting to steal from me. I blocked him and was determined to call the police. Laslo was trembling; he was clearly scared, and beseeched me not to report him.
"On one side I felt pity for him; it was evident he was really scared, he wasn't pretending. But on the other side I was also rather angered by his attempt to rob me. So I ordered him to sit down and asked him what I should do, in his opinion, having caught a thief inside my house. He sat there in silence, his eyes wide, and trembling like a leaf. He then finally managed to tell me that he really didn't like at all going to rob houses, above all because he was scared at the thought of being caught, possibly thrashed and also sent to a reform school.
"I told him that all summed up he really deserved to end up in a reform school. He then burst into tears and told me that he knew, as it already happened to his brothers and cousins, that being shut up in a reform school, especially for someone of his age (and pleasing as he was, I can add) meant to become the bitch of all the older inmates. A little harshly I told him that after all none ever died from a good fuckÉ and also that he really deserved it, and that anyway he had to think about this risk before.
"He then said that he really regretted it, that he would have liked to change his life, but he could not, because if he refused to go out to steal, his parents would beat the stuffing out of him, and showed me he was covered with bruisesÉ I then asked him why he didn't just run away from homeÉ And he asked me what could he do, where could he go, being a good for nothing gypsy, without money, despised by everybodyÉ and here he added something that made me curious - he said, 'and despised even by his own folk'.
"I asked him why he said he was despised also by his group; was it possibly because he was not skilled in robbing people? He looked at me with his big eyes and said, in a very low voice, trembling even more than before, that it was because he liked boys and not girls, therefore everybody scorned him and that they only tolerated him if he brought back good booty. If he didn't, he said, he got a thrashing not only by his father and mother but also by his brothers and cousins.
"I liked Laslo, he was possibly a little too young for me but as you can see he is a really handsome boy, sexy, well built, attractiveÉ So I asked him if he was sure he liked only boys. He answered that yes, he was sure, and even more than others boys he liked menÉ and he didn't say so thinking of me, in fact he didn't suspect I too am gay. So speaking he had calmed down a little bit, even though it was evident he was still scared. I then asked him how came that his family knew about him being gay.
"He told me that naively, when he was fourteen, he tried with one of his cousins that attracted him very much, and that the young man first fucked him, then told everybody that Laslo was a faggotÉ and so his ordeal began. And he also told me that after that time, even though he often, looking at a beautiful man got aroused, he never did it with anybody else. But no girls ever got him aroused, ever attracted him.
"Somewhat ruthlessly I said then, after all, if he ended up in a reform school he could get all the cocks he could dream about without any problem, therefore he could consider himself lucky. He looked at me with a surprised expression, and then told me with an almost imperceptible voice that he didn't need many cocks, but just a man who loved him and who he could love. Well, I didn't expect at all such an answer from a kid like him, and it really hit me.
"I then told him that if I called the police he would almost certainly end in a reform school, and that if I let him go empty handed, he would get a thrashing by his family, therefore any solution I could choose would be bad for him. He just nodded sadly. So I repeated to him that in my opinion he had to run away. He again asked me what he could do, where he could goÉ and he added that he knew that he could make a living hustling, selling his body, but he didn't like that solution - in that case it would have been the same as just ending up in a reform schoolÉ
"His insistence on repeating that he didn't know where to go, what to do, gave me an idea. So I proposed to him to just stay here with me, hidden at least until his tribe left the town. He could do for me the cleaning at home and in my studio, in exchange for food, a bed and some pocket money. He looked at me astounded and asked me if I was really sure, after he tried stealing in my house, I wanted him to work for me. I answered him that of course I would keep an eye on him, but that in my opinion it was worth trying it out. I wanted to trust him, and give him a possibility to make a change in his life.
"Laslo finally stopped trembling, and was going on looking at me amazed. I asked him if his people, not seeing him return, wouldn't come to look for him. He answered that probably they would be rather happy not to have him any more in their way, I then renewed my offer. Laslo answered me in a whisper that he would have liked trying, then slipped out of the chair, knelt in front of me and said 'thank you, mister' and added that I would never repent of what I intended to do for him.
"Good. I prepared a little bed here in my studio and started to give him some tasks. He devoted himself with real effort and when I explained to him how I wanted him to do his chores, he always did his best to please me. For several weeks he never went out of the apartment, until I came to know that his tribe moved away. I then started to send him to do some errands, like some shopping or posting a letter and so on. He was fast, smart, careful, precise and accurate and I was happy having him with me. He gradually opened up to me and he also became a good companion.
"Then one evening late he came to my bedroom. After knocking, he came near my bed and said that he noticed I was 'interested' in him and that he, if I wanted, would be happy to do for me anything I wantedÉ also in bed, he then added becoming red like a pepper. You see, mister Leonardi, that if up to that day I never attempted anything with him was above all to avoid putting him in an embarrassing situation, but I was in effect feeling more and more attracted to Laslo.
"I then made him sit on the edge of my bed and told him that, even though I never did it with someone as young as he was, I was really feeling more and more attracted to him. But I didn't want him to offer himself to me just out of gratitude. Laslo then answered that it was not just gratitude, but that he too was feeling more and more attracted to me, and the more he knew me and lived with me, the more he thought he would really love doing it with me. Looking at him I noticed that his briefs couldn't hide an erection that told me much more than what his words meant, and that had the effect of arousing me too.
"So I told him we could give it a try, asked him to undress and come into my bed. He smiled and in a flash bared himself and came under my sheet pushing his body against mine. I embraced him keeping him fast against me and kissed him. It was his first kiss and he returned it to me, at first somewhat awkwardly, but then, learning from how I kissed him, it became more and more pleasurable. "We fell asleep so, still embraced, both happy and satisfied. The following morning he asked me to do it againÉ and I complied with pleasure. After that night, he came to sleep with me every nightÉ So we gradually became aware, possibly he a little before I, that we were falling in love. Laslo is a really sweet boy, he has a youthful ardour, and now I know that I can no more be without him as he can't be without me. We are lovers and in love. The only thing I regret is that he is here in Italy illegallyÉ I, as Laslo knows very well, would have liked to adopt him, but he is without papers, moreover in Italy a single man cannot adopt a minor, and I really don't know what I can doÉ"
Grandpa Tano is really hit and moved by this story, he says nothing to the sculptor, but as he leaves him he goes to see our lawyer and submits to him the problem. Well, first of all he succeeds in having the boy get identity papers as a stateless person, so that the sculptor can hire him as an assistant and have him get a residence permit. Then he decides that he and Ersilia can adopt the boy and just a month ago the papers come, so now Laslo is a Lombardi and of course also an Italian citizen.
Corrado, the sculptor, to thank grandpa Tano, makes the statue for freeÉ as you can see, even if the background is again a sex and love story, not all what we Leonardi get is due only to a fuckÉ
And if you go to Lugo's cemetery, you can see the beautiful statue in the Leonardis' gravesite, representing grandpa Tano but portraying Laslo Leonardi.
