Labored Love Chapter 5

Did he just say that?, Am I dreaming?, Should I answer?

"Don't cry, I'm sorry. I didn't want to upset you. I've been wanting to tell you for so long. Do you hate me? Please say something."

All I was able to do was kiss him. He held me in an embrace for so long. I just couldn't talk. All my dreams had just come true in a second. I loved him, I have since the day he first made me laugh. All the hints Mrs. Harpy and Mr. Michaels had been giving. I thought I would never be able to express myself to him, and now given the chance I was speechless. I was just holding on to him. Among the sniff I finally managed an, "I love you too, ya know." He was crying now. We sat there for the longest time just silently crying and holding each other. I was so happy I just didn't want that to end. I couldn't believe someone so perfect had chosen me.

"How long have you been waiting to tell me that?" I asked with a little giggle.

"Longer than you have been waiting for me to say it. You know^ you saved my life. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you."

"Really? Me? How?"

"Yes REALLY, YOU kept me from doing something stupid the day I met you. Just looking into those beautiful eyes, I wanted more. I wouldn't let my life end until I had you. Now I do, but I won't leave you."

I was just smiling and I kissed him again. "Don't worry, I'm not letting you go anywhere." We talked and talked. It was getting dark outside and we were still only talking about the day in the park when I got hit with the ball.

"I just wanted to kiss that little tummy until it was all better. Have I ever told you how incredibly amazing your body looks, and I have only seen your upper torso," he said with a naughty grin.

"Yeah, you like my tummy. Want another peak?"

"Do you have to ask?"

He kissed all around my stomach and extra for what he couldn't do then. He kissed up from my belly button and nibbled my nipples. I was in ecstasy. When he was finished with my nipples, he started kissing up my chest to my neck. From my neck he kissed my earlobes and did something to them I just can't describe in words, but in moans it was excellent. He started kissing me on the lips again, and we kissed for what seemed a lifetime, but a great lifetime. When he was done I was harder than Chinese Algebra. He knew it, I knew it, and I could feel little Ryan trying to break free.

"We should wait just a little while, right?"

I agreed knowing it was better not to rush everything. We climbed down the tree and got into his car. He told me we both needed to get home, and he would call me as soon as he got back to his house. We dropped me off and headed home. When I walked in everyone asked in unison, "SO?!"

"So what?"

"Did he confess his undying love?" Erica asked.

"Who, Ryan? No, he told me his dog died."

"Are you kidding?" Mom looked almost appalled.

"Yeah. He confessed," I admitted.

"Good, I thought I might have to go and have a talk with him," Dad said, sounding all fatherly.

"I think he can take you, old man," I teased Dad, knowing he hated being thought of as old.

"Think what you will."

The phone rang, and even though it was on Mom's lap I got to it first.

"Hello?! Yeah, she is here. Mom it's for you."

"Hello?^ O hey Patricia^ Nothing much, but I think my son is waiting for an important phone call. Do you mind if I call you back after he receives his?^ Thanks, I'm sure he appreciates it. Ok, you too^ Goodbye."

"Thanks Mom."

The phone rang again and mom answered.

"Hello?^Eric?^ What number are you trying to call?^ Yes that is this one. There is no Eric here."

"MOM!"

"O fine, ruin my fun."

"Hello?^Hey^yeah^hey^can you call me on my cell?^OK the number is^WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ALREADY HAVE IT? Why have you never called before?^Oh. Ok. Well call it."

"Thanks Mom. I am going to my room."

We talked, for hours that night. Telling each other of things we did to be close, like him pretending to suck at math. I fumed over that for a while, but he is just so damn hard to be mad at. Eventually I brought up the topic of what to do about school. Should we come out, or just keep things the way they are. No one ever bothers me, even though Im sure a few have their suspicions. No one asks me, but Erica says people are always trying to get her to tell. Ryan wants to come out, but he is a little worried, I can tell. We both agreed to tell a few close friends and see what happens. If they are ok, then we let the news leak out, it probably would just be getting well known by the time of graduation in that case. Not much was said that was earth shattering. Too many I love you' s to count, a little dirty talk, and of course the `I don't wanna hang up. You hang up.' We probably talked until one in the morning. I was the one to end the call, but not on purpose. I fell asleep from exhaustion. The next morning Mom was waking me up.

"What's the emergency?" I said covering my head.

"You are running late. Did you set your alarm."

"Shit!" I shouted as I looked at the clock, "I mean shoot."

"I'll let it slip since you are thirty minutes late already. You better be glad your boyfriend drives you to school, or else Erica would have you walking."

"I'm not going to be late," I was convincing myself more than Mom.

Ryan got there as I was running through the kitchen grabbing the toast mom had for me. Ryan had apparently slept in too, since there was about ten minutes left until school started and we were about fifteen away.

"Wa neeb oo et oo ool," I said with a mouth full of toast.

"We will, don't worry," he reassured me.

We got to school on time. Ryan is a good driver, plus his little sports car is great to drive fast in. It was exciting. We got there as the bell was ringing which meant fifteen minutes to get to class before the tardy bell. Ryan gave me a quick kiss before getting out the car and we headed to our lockers. We walked most of the way together, but my locker was next to my first class, we got to pick our lockers at beginning of senior year, but his was way off in an older building because he came late. I would have to remember to get him to put his first hour books in my locker. His class was right next to mine. I got to class with time to spare, which meant Ryan should be able to make it to his in time too. Not much else happened until third hour with Mrs. Harpy.

Of course Ryan and I kept meeting up in the halls and walking each other to class. We weren't trying to out ourselves, but we just couldn't keep away from each other. On the way to Mrs. Harpy's class we say Mr. Michaels. He just grinned as we passed. I looked at Ryan and he was grinning at me.

"Did everybody know but me?"

"No, the newspaper is still waiting on a picture of you to print the article."

He can be such a smartass. Well, we walked into class and sat down. I would sat as usual, but normally I am in first and Ryan is here right as the bell is ringing, today we arrived together. Class started typically. Mrs. Harpy finished explaining the material we had learned yesterday and told us we could work in groups, that meant she was in a good mood. The whole class she kept smiling and almost deliberately not looking at Ryan and me. Ryan and I were working on our problems and joking around, he made a comment about one of the cheerleaders, and to tease him I mocked blowing kisses.

"Yeah go ahead and kiss your boyfriend you little faggot." It was one of the pot heads that happened to get into this class. I knew him well enough, he had always hated me, but he never really said anything to me.

"Excuse me Mr. Sanders. I don't think I can tolerate that kind of language or behavior in my class," again, my love to Mrs. Harpy, "in fact I think that the principal would like to know what you said. Why don't you go and tell him."

Now most kids like Jordan would've walked to the principal's office thinking, "The principal will side with me, no one likes those little queers. I'll just get some mandatory punishment and skip it. He won't care." But not today. You see, our principal, or rather Principal Harpy has many common interests with Mrs. Harpy. When Jordan was out of earshot, Mrs. Harpy stepped out of class and made a phone call, most likely to her husband to let him know exactly what happened and to suggest a punishment. The rest of class would have been extremely awkward, but it was Mrs. Harpy's class.

"Ryan, Eric, will you please come to my desk." She was acting like a prim and proper teacher, totally not her. "Apparently Mr. Sanders is suffering from his own feelings and felt the need to create a situation to take the attention off of himself, and, seeing your well forged friendship, decided you would be a more suitable host than himself. Regardless of how much you hear, please don't judge Jordan and assume him a homosexual. He may be going through a rough time and he might need some time to decide his own orientation in life. I suggested he go and attend the Gay Straight Alliance meetings until the end of school so he could work out his problems." She said all this mocking a whisper, while in reality the whole class heard every word. No one would dare repeat what she said to anyone, who would believe it? She finished her talk with us to the class, "Please class, if you would, do not mention Mr. Sanders little outburst to the rest of the school, we wouldn't want rumors to spread." Everyone knew that meant `Tell and wish you were dead' in Mrs. Harpy's language.

People knew what happened in class of course. There were surprisingly more rumors about Jordan than about either of us, thanks to Mrs. Harpy. Mr. Michaels class was interesting to say the least. He was blissful to know we were together and the rest of the class was staring at us. That night Ryan had planned a get together for us and a couple of our friends, really his closest three guy friends and Allison. When everyone got there he told him he ordered pizza and we were going to have a movie bash. Of course when we all piled into his monstrous living room everyone was completely silent and looking at us two like we were going to mutate in front of them.

"What!?" Ryan said all of a sudden.

Dwayne was the first to speak up. "Guys, don't get mad at us, but we were all talking on the way over here, and we are all your friends. Are you two dating?"

Ryan was just grinning and I was trying to hold back laughter. The poor guys in the room. They looked totally confused. Allison was looking at me and trying even harder to keep a straight face.

"Ok, why does she know something we don't?" Ryan's friend Matt asked.

Ryan answered for me, "Because she and Eric have a special relationship, and it is impossible to keep secrets from her."

"So that is a yes?" asked the last of the three, I think his name was Alan.

"Yes, that is a yes!" Ryan and I were in unison.

"Awe, they are saying the same thing already. How cute." I could kill Allison sometimes. I settled for hitting her with a pillow.

Well after the pillow fight the pizza got there, or maybe the pizza stopped the pillow fight. Then we all sat down and started watching scary movies. It was a fun night. Ryan and I were cuddled in the middle of the couch with Allison next to me and the other three guys spaced out on the rest of the couch. They were all ok with us, but they didn't want to cuddle. Their loss.
