Hey guys!

Here~s the first part of a story I~m writing. (I really should be studying, so the remainder will come later.) Your comments and suggestions are welcome. Send your flames to someone else who will read them! The story involves two adult males and is fiction. Unless I meet you on the second floor of Hillman!

PghDude

It was 7:00 Sunday night. If all went well I could have another four hours to study for my calculus exam which was Monday morning. Luckily, Hillman Library was somewhat quiet tonight, and I had nestled myself away in a solitary section. I had already mastered the convergence tests and the Taylor series formula, and in just three more sections and I would be set. As I began reviewing my notes I heard a shuffle behind me.

~Hey bud, you studyin~ for calculus too? Mind if I study at the other end of the table?~ Great. Someone else in my secluded study area. Fuck! Go away! Get lost!!

~No, go right ahead.~ It wasn~t a complete lie. I began to realize that having this guy study with me might not be so bad. I recognized him as being from my section. He usually sat off to the side with the other swim-jocks, who typically find more interest in each other~s antics than the lecture. Well, so do I.

As he unloaded his book bag I began to check him out. High and tight black hair, with just a hint of a wave on top. Clean, smooth dark skin that shone even in the library~s artificial lighting. Hmm, is he Italian? A strong, masculine nose, cheek bones, and chin made this nineteen year old even sexier. As he removed his sweatshirt I got a glimpse of his lower torso, and it looked fine! Although he was wearing shorts, his legs were hidden by the table. I began to admire his broad shoulders and his narrow waist when he interrupted my gaze. ~You~re in my section, aren~t you? I~m Kurt.~

~Yeah, I think we are. I~m Mark.~ I feigned disinterest ~ act cool. Still, he smiled in such a friendly, honest way that I couldn~t help but smile back. As we exchanged small talk about the class and Pitt, we both began to feel very comfortable in a relaxed way. I suddenly felt as if I had known this guy for more than the couple of minutes that we were talking.

As I eased myself back into the realm of studying, I couldn~t help but glance over in Kurt~s direction. My secluded study area truly was gone, along with my concentration! I began to read silently to myself to regain control. ~Because p(x) has n+1 coefficient...~ He~s looking at me... ~it seems reasonable...~ He just looked again at me... ~that we will be able ...~ he is STARING at me!

~Hey Mark, can I ask you a question about this stuff? I don~t get it.~

Before I could answer he had swung out of his chair and was standing at my side with his hand casually placed on my shoulder. Whatever he was pointing to in the book was incomprehensible at this point, believe me! Instead, I studied the fine black hair on his forearms, his bicep as he turned a page, and the muscular calves which I was denied seeing earlier. In the eternity of a second I started to envision what he must look like in his Speedo and how well his ass must be framed by it.

~...so Mark, which derivative do we take?~ What was Kurt talking about? Was Kurt talking to me all this time? At that instant the room suddenly felt very hot, and I started to perspire. Kurt was looking right at me, with that friendly smile and hand on my shoulder, waiting for an answer. Since I had just studied this section I was able to quickly throw out the answer, much to my relief and Kurt~s satisfaction. He gave my shoulder a squeeze, or was it a caress, and thanked me. As he went back to his chair I shamelessly appreciated his muscular legs and cute butt with my eyes.

For the next three hours Kurt and I studied together in the library. We were the perfect study pair, since each of us had a firm understanding where the other was uncertain. He wasn't the "dumb jock" I pegged him to be. He had a good head on his shoulders, in addition to the great physique and killer smile! He had it all!

I began to grow more accustomed to the shoulder squeezes, back pats, and hair tosslings he gave me after we discussed the latest calculus quandary. He seemed to be doing it more affectionately each time, as his hand would remain just a instant longer. 'Oh come on, Mark,' I told myself, 'get real!' But, by 11:30 we were done! Together we accomplished what would have been a burden to do alone. I suddenly got quiet when we started to pack up, figuring that we would simply drift apart and disappear in the sea of students we see everyday.

"Hey Mark, do you want to swing by my place for a while? Maybe we could catch some ESPN and demolish some nachos." His invitation was... was too much to believe! Here was this swim-bod-god with a brain like Einstein (OK, not quite just like Einstein), asking me back to his place. As Kurt laced up his Reeboks he flashed that smile and those laughing eyes to tempt me on. And, yeah, he looked like a knockout wearing shorts, his muscular, hairy brown legs, Reeboks and no socks! Baby!!

"You know, man, it's really kind of late. With the test tomorrow I think that ..." My words drifted off. What was I saying! You fool! Red light alert, dweeb on the second floor! Quick, change your mind! "...hell! Why not! It sounds like fun! Where you live?" In some way I felt as though I had just secured a private date with him. All on my own. A hero. Way to go, Mark!

"Over in the Towers. Come on, let's go."

As we left Hillman we thanked each other for the studying. We were mutually impressed with the others abilities and interests. It turned out that we lived in the same Tower, just with a world of four floors between us. Before long we were out of the elevator and at his door.

"Geez, man, what do you have in here, a coal furnace?!" I couldn't believe how stiflingly hot his place was. Figured, though. You could house penguins in my room, and this lucky guy got all the heat.

"Yeah," he chortled, "I guess it is a little hot in here. They can't do nothing about it, though. I guess I'm used to it." With that, Kurt proceeded to strip down to just his Champion shorts, popping off his sweatshirt, tee, shoes, and socks. He seemed so at ease with displaying his body, like, 'Hey, I do this all the time.'

I, however, just stood there. Wearing my jacket. Standing there. Looking at him. At his body. Incredible! Kurt had a serious athlete's body, and I don't think he had any excess fat anywhere! Those broad shoulders I admired earlier were the top of a well-muscled, chiseled torso. His pecs were well defined, and unlike other guys' bodies I have seen at the gym, his entire pecs stood apart from his chest. His nips, an even darker brown than his skin, were centered and as wide as my eyes, undoubtedly from the excess heat. And they were highlighted by a light coating of coarse black hair that lead down to his abs. I found myself wanting to run my fingers down the ripples of his abs! What more can I say than that every ab muscle was on display! From there the treasure trail buried itself into his shorts. As he turned to retrieve the nachos from a crate in the corner of the room, I noticed that a set of wide, flaring lats framed his body beautifully.

"Come on, Mark, take off your jacket!"

"I just can't believe how warm your room is, mine is frigid..." My mind was wondering down that treasure trail by now.

While I removed my jacked and slipped off my penny loafers, Kurt displayed the bag and nachos and a fresh jar of salsa from his dorm fridge. "Hey, we're doin' it right tonight ~ a new jar of salsa!" Kurt enthusiastically flashed me his smile, hoping for my approval of the extra picante red stuff. My mind reeled from the ironic symbolism my English class had instilled in me: a hot room, extra picante sauce, and a very hot guy!

Kurt didn't seem to notice my awkwardness; he was moving about with agitated energy. He clicked on the color TV situated at the foot of his roomie's bed and surfed the channels until he reached the evening's entertainment, re-rebroadcasts of some tennis tournament. "Hey," I offered, catching his excitement, "I already saw this! Martina gets slammed!"

"Yeah, I read about it in the Times. Too bad she looses, she's pretty neat. You know ~ for all she's done. Anything better you'd rather watch?" Kurt made a genuine offer: TNT, TWC, USA, and other cryptographic acronym TV stations. As he plopped down on his bed, I took a seat on the floor besides it, constantly reminded of just how hot his room was.

Kurt flipped to the Discovery Channel as I turned around to dip into the chip 'n' dip bowl. To be honest with you, I could have just watched him all night! He was half hugging his pillow with one hairy leg half propped up, munching away on the crunchy corn chips. He seemed so relaxed, so at-ease, so...hot! Here was this athletic, handsome dude, whom I didn't know six hours earlier, stretched out before me half naked! And, to top it off, so friendly and genuine! Kurt focused my attention back to the TV, where archeologists were uncovering a burial site in Mongolia. It was pretty absorbing, and we both sat there immersed. I was also pretty surprised that Kurt would find interest in something this educational.

During the Sally-Struthers-Earn-Your-Degree-At-Home commercial, I got up to stretch my cramped legs and sat on the foot of his bed. I kinda stared at him. Well, he stared back at me too. It got awkward. Quiet.

I smiled. He smiled. I was getting in over my head! So, I asked the obvious question.

"So Kurt, you rushing a frat?" It had the eloquence of banging on an empty pot at a semi-formal.

"Nah, I guess I'm just the free-wheelin', independent kind of guy. Besides, who'd wanna live in house full of other guys when you can live on a co-ed floor?! How about you, you rushing?"

"You kidding! Not me, I want to graduate with more than a two-point-nothing average!" I hope I sounded cool, you know, real casual.

"If you work as hard as you did tonight, I know you will!" he chipped in, tossling my hair again as he got up and headed for the fridge. I smiled deep inside myself. "Do you want anything to drink, Mark? Those chip have made me so thirsty!"

"Yeah, me too. Besides, it's so hot in here too."

"Well, I got some OJ, iced tea, and some spring water."

Great, we regressed to talking about beverages. I suddenly felt like I was on an airplane, being offered my complimentary drink and nuts. What I really wanted to talk about was him. Or him and me!

"You know, Mark, I really do want to thank you for helping me out with the calculus tonight. I didn't understand L'Hopital's Rule when ol' Polyester-Pants explained it in class. You're a pretty neat guy, too."

I was gathering my thoughts, wiping the perspiration from my brow, and readjusting myself while he said this. His compliments came so quickly and so unexpectedly that I was left speechless as he handed me a cup of OJ. I no longer felt embarrassed about checking out his great body, and I think he knew it too. We smiled again, this time like great friends do.

As a chain saw pierces the tranquillity of a wooded grove, the sound of his roommate's key unlocking the door shattered my latest train of thought. The door swung open and in he stumbled, clutching his babe by the waist.

"Derrick! Hey, how'd the party go, dude?!" Kurt passed by me to close the door after his roommate. I became a hot potato, Derrick claimed a title of "dude," and Babe leered at me.

"Ah, it was great man! Why didn't you come?! Ah, man, you missed one great party! Didn't he, Caressa?"

Caressa? I thought I would puke on the spot. Chihuahuas are named 'Caressa.' And so is Babe. I was wondering if the room could explode from the suffocating heat and alcohol vapors which had just walked into the room.

Derrick, Caressa, and Kurt talked for a while about the wonderful booze and babes he missed. And I just kinda stood there, like a worm on the proverbial bump on the log. And Caressa leered.

"Hey, Kurt, I'm gonna get going. Good luck on the calculus test tomorrow!" And I reached for my dear friend ~ the doorknob.

As I made my way back to my own room, I was overcome with an emotional high, for having been with Kurt that evening, and an emotional low. Dressed in only his shorts he reminded me of a Mandate cover, but I never got to see the rest! I guess this meld of emotions is the kind of thing that happens when you're too tired. The sudden worry of not getting enough sleep for the test obliterated my strife as I unlocked my dorm room. Luckily for me, though, I didn't have a roommate like Derrick to put up with. (Good grief, like Derrick! Ugh!) The housing office never reassigned another guy to my room after Chad failed out. So, tugging off my clothes, I crashed into bed, staying awake long enough to fully realize what was happening.

I don't know for just how long he was sitting outside my door, but I almost fell over Kurt as I bolted out my room. I think I'd fall for him anywhere, though! "Man! I almost tripped over you! Hey, good morning, how are you?" I was in surprisingly good spirits for this early in the day, especially with a test looming over me. Even though I was disappointed with how last night went, there wasn't a hard part in me to hold it against him. Kurt did look cute, though, with his short hair partially hidden by a Pitt cap, and his Polo shirt untucked.

"Hey, I'm OK. Really tired, but OK. D'ya mind if I walk to class with you?" I could see the sleep still in his eyes, kind of like ol' Coot, the beagle back home, if you wake him up too early. We walked along, pretty close to each other, barely saying a word. But it was enough, since I think we both understood.

When we got to class, Kurt sat next to me, not with his swimming buddies. My insides fluttered. I felt like I had my lucky talisman with me, and with my mind at ease, I breezed through the test. I kind of felt like singing, 'Zippadee-do-dah;' everything was going my way! So, with five minutes left to class, I handed in the test and headed back to my room.

Once back in my room I put on the Nat King Cole CD and flopped on my bed, pondering what to do for the next three hours. A knock on my door brought me from my reverie. 'Don't answer it,' I told myself; just enjoy the morning. The knock persisted. As I got up to open the door, Kurt came in on his own. He looked like he had taken a beating.

"Surprise to see you here, Kurt. How'd the test go?"

"Not well," was his empty reply. Closing the door behind him, he came into the room, until we were standing the closest we've ever been. "I guess I was thinking about last night instead of all that other stuff."

My breathing turned labored, and I could feel my face paint itself crimson. He just stood there, his Reeboks touching my socks, his facing pointed down. And then he did what I dreamed of.

He put his arms around me, and pulled me close! He rested his head on my shoulder! I felt myself wanting to cry and laugh, to shout and to whisper. I felt him relax, his muscles turn from tightly wound springs back into flesh. And I returned his embrace, reveling in the touch of our muscular bodies.

"Hey Mark -- thank you." His words were warm on the side of my neck. My hair stood on end. "Do you mind if I take a nap here, I'm bushed." In the absence of words, I lead him to my bed and unlaced his sneaks. Together we curled up on the bed, as I wrapped an arm around his chest to pull him tight. In the background Nat serenaded us as we were unforgettable.

Thinking back, I am amazed at how soundly and peacefully I slept with him next to me. On our sides, my one arm embraced his chest while we held hands under the pillow. As I drifted off in slumber, I remember feeling absorbed in Kurt--the smell of his aftershave, the feel of his chest muscles, the warmth of his body. We were like a jigsaw puzzle properly put together: knee-to-knee, hip-to-hip, chest-to-back. During that moment when consciousness is lost in sleep, I was unaware that the smooth-skinned, hunky Italian guy from the library was actually here with me. In my bed, asleep with me. Breathing in rhythm with me.

But I did know he was there. It's like that satisfaction of lying on the beach with the summer sunlight bathing you. You don't have to see the Sun to be surrounded in its warmth. You can feel the safety of the beach without consciously saying, 'The pounding ocean can not reach me here.' Bliss--have you ever had that feeling of security and completeness? Although my dreams and precise sentiments were unremarkable, Kurt's peace and rest made it spectacular.

"Kurt, wake up! Kurt!" The alarm clock had already snapped me to attention, warning me like a surrogate parent that I'd be late for class. I gave Kurt another shake on the shoulder, slowly bringing him from the deep sleep he enjoyed. "Kurt, I'm sorry to wake you up, but I got to go! I have class in five minutes." My voice came out uncertain and unconvincing.

He blinked at me. Was he awake? Hello? Rolling over on his side, we gazed at each other like couples in deep communication. I then stared at him, wondering for a moment why I was so eager to learn about light theory. As I gently massaged his flaring lats, I could sense words forming on his lips.

"Mark, I'm still tired!" So much for deep communication. The simplicity of his honesty caught my by surprise; I hadn't realized his need for sleep. Apparently, he really was awake all night . With an arm on my back he pulled me near to him, warming my neck with his steady breaths. But then I quickly recognized that the man was no longer focusing on me, but instead on the waves of sleep washing over him.

"Well, you are welcome to stay," I whispered to him before loosing him completely, "but I'm heading off to class." I gave him a quick kiss on his lips, earning a smile of approval. As I slid off of the bed Kurt eyes blinked open, unappreciative of the sudden vacancy . I put on my shoes and jacket. "I'll be back for lunch, so don't go away!" In the wink of an eye, Kurt was curled up on my bed before I could open the door. "I love you, Kurt," I whispered as I closed the door.
