Author's notes Here is the next installment of the story. Like I said in the last installment, this is a single chapter, as will be chapter 10. This is a lot longer that previous installment's, because I wanted everything set up just right for the surprise in Chapter 10. The surprise I've been saying that is coming will definitely be out in the next Chapter. There is a hint as to what it is in the last line of this chapter.

KEVIN & JORDAN
PART 9
I was staring off into space, on our way to the airport, when a voice pulled me back.
"Jordan. Earth to Jordan. Are you there?" Kevin said, as he waved his hand in front of my face.
"Oh...yeah...I'm here. I'm sorry, honey. I was just thinking," I replied.
"About what?"
"Us, I guess,"
"What about us?"
"Just about how happy you make me. And how happy I am to be with you."
"Well, I'm just as happy as you are. I just wish we weren't leaving. I want to spend some more time with you," Kevin said, his eyes beginning to water up again.
I reached up and wiped a tear away with my finger as I said, "Please don't start crying. We talked about this already. It's not like you are never going to see me again. You'll be in LA on Tuesday. That's only four days from now. It won't be that bad."
"I know, but I just found you and I feel like I'm losing you already!"
"Kevin, listen to me," I instructed, putting both of my hands on his face, to make sure he was looking directly into my eyes, "you're not losing me. We just have to be apart for a few days, that's all. It is not that big of a deal. I can handle it, and so can you," I finished. I was trying to reassure him, but at the same time I was thinking the same things as him. It was killing me knowing that I was going to have to be apart from him for that long. But I also knew that once Kevin got to LA, he was all mine for two weeks and I wouldn't have to share him with anybody.
"Okay...I'm sorry. I know, you're right," he mumbled with a little smile on his face.
"Speaking of next week we need to talk Howie in coming out with you."
"Why? Oh...wait, never mind. I know why," he said as he remembered about David.
"I'm going to tell him when we get to the airport. I can hardly wait to see the look on his face when I tell him that David wants to meet him," I said grinning. I owed Howie for his pushing me to tell Kevin how I felt. In a sennse he had gotten us together and this was my way of thanking him: By setting him up with one of the hottest guys in Hollywood. But, unknown to Howie, David felt the same way as the singer. And besides they would make a cute couple. Not as good as Kevin and I, but good nonetheless.
"I just hope he doesn't pass out or something," Kevin said, giggling.
"I hope he doesn't either; it wouldn't make for a good first impression," I replied, as I started to laugh too.
"Okay, so we know what we have to do. Now can we just concentrate on us until we get to the airport?"
"I don't see why not."
"Good," he said, as he scooted closer to me on the seat and pulled me into a hug. As I returned the hug, I couldn't help but smell him. I loved the combination of soap and cologne on his body. It was a smell that was all Kevin, and I couldn't get enough of it. That's why, unknown to him, when he was in the shower, I grabbed a tee shirt out of his suitcase and put into mine. Just so that I would have something of his until I got to see him again.
We started kissing passionately. Both of us afraid to let go of each other. I knew then that I was falling in love with him. I didn't want to say anything about it though, because I was afraid that I would scare him away. That was the one thing that I didn't want to do. The next four days would be a good test of how much we really cared about each other. If we could make it through this, I had no doubt that when it was time for him to go on tour, I could handle it, and so could he.
We were still kissing as the limo pulled up to the unloading zone of the airport. I pulled away from Kevin.
"We're here."
"Yeah, I guess we are. Let's go and find the guys, and give Howie the news."
"Cool. The driver will get our bags to the right airlines. Let's go."
We climbed out of the limo and headed in, both of us wearing hats and sunglasses, on the off chance that someone would notice us. Kevin was more at risk of being noticed then me. He had been in the public eye a lot longer than I had been and was more recognizable.
It took us about fifteen minutes to find the rest of the group. They were all hiding in the first-class lounge of the airline that they were flying on.
"Hey, guys!" I said loudly to get their attention as we walked into the lounge.
"Hey, Jordan. Hey, Kev," Nick acknowledged us.
"Hi, guys! Kevin is that a smile on you face? I never though I would see one of those again." Brian teased.
"Yeah, cuz, it is. And it's this guys fault," he answered, as he put his arm around my neck, and grinned like the Cheshire Cat.
"Well, its about time that somebody brought you out of the funk you've been in for the last six months," AJ said as sarcastically as possible.
"Gee, thanks, AJ. It's nice to know you care so much about me," Kevin retorted.
"Face it, Kevin. He is right. Ever since you and what's-his-face broke up, you have been a miserable bitch to deal with," Howie added.
I started laughing. I couldn't help it, for some reason Howie's comment just seemed funny to me. But by the look on Kevin's face, he didn't think it was very funny.
"Howie, I'm going to get something to drink, why don't you come with me?" I said.
"That's okay. I'm really not thirsty," he answered.
I grabbed his arm as I walked by him. "Trust me. You want to come with me,"
"Okay, okay. I'm coming,"
We made our way to the bar and I ordered my juice.
"So, Howie, if you could meet one famous person, who would it be?" I asked, interested to see what his answer would be.
"I don't know. I guess, Jennifer Lopez. Or Madonna," he said as he looked away from me.
"Are you sure there isn't anyone else that you want to meet?"
"No, nobody else," he said sheepishly.
"Well, that's too bad, I guess I'll have to tell David that you didn't want to meet him, because he really wants to meet you," I said with a grin on my face.
"David? David who?" he asked blushing.
"The David that I've heard you have a major crush on. That David!"
"Why would he want to meet me?"
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe because he has this major crush on you, too. I think that's a good enough reason, don't you?"
"You are kidding, right? Isn't he dating Sarah?"
"No, he's not. Its all an act so that nobody will find out that he is gay," I said.
Then I proceeded to tell him the whole story about how I found out about him and David and their crushes on each other. He was a little upset that Kevin had said anything to me to begin with. But after hearing everything, he was all right with it.
"Kevin, why was your boyfriend so adamant about Howie going to the bar with him?" Nick asked.
"Um...well...we're sort of setting Howie up with somebody," Kevin replied sheepishly.
"Who would that be?" Nick continued his interrogation.
"Well, who is the one person that Howie always talks about?" Kevin answered.
"Oh...that's easy," AJ began, "that guy who is on `Buffy'."
"Oh...yeah...David something. I can never remember his last name, though," Brian added his two cents into the conversation.
"Yeah, that's him," Kevin said, confirming Brian's answer.
"Cool. He is going to be so happy," Nick added.
"We know. That's why we are doing it. Plus, we owe him," Kevin said.
"Howie, listen. I owe you for getting Kevin and me to admit to each other how we feel. This is my way of paying you back. So that means you have to be on the plane with Kevin on Tuesday. Unless you don't want to meet him," I said, already knowing what his answer was going to be.
"Of course I'll be on the plane with him. Now the only question I have is, does he know that I'm coming out there?"
"Not yet, but he will by tomorrow when I see Sarah,"
"Cool. Thank you, Jordan. I don't know what else to say," he stammered out, as he gave me a hug.
"It's okay, Howie. Like I said, I owe you. But I do have one more favor to ask you,"
"What's that?"
"Well, I need you to get me a copy of a certain song." I went on to explain to him what I had in mind. By the time I was done, he was grinning as much as I was.
"Jordan, he's going to love that. Nobody ever realizes how much that song means to him. How did you figure it out?"
"It wasn't that hard. If you look at his face when he is performing it, you can tell. But you can't say anything to him."
"I won't, don't worry."
"Let's go back over and see the rest of the guys. I want to say goodbye before you all leave," I said.
"Okay, let's go."
As we walked over to where Kevin and the rest were standing, they all noticed the grin on Howie's face.
"What's going on guys?" Brian asked with a confused look on his face.
"Nothing much," answered Howie.
"Bullshit, you have this look on your face like you're very happy about something. Now what is it?" Demanded AJ.
"AJ, it's nothing. Can't I just be in a good mood?"
"Yeah, you can. But you look like something is going on. You both have this really weird look on your faces."
"Well, I guess I should tell you. When Kevin goes to LA next week to see Jordan, I'm going with him."
"Oh...that's fine, but why the sudden change in plans? Last thing you said was that you were going home for the break," Nick asked, even though he knew the truth, he just wanted to hear Howie say it.
"Well, let's just say that things have changed since then," Howie said, as he started to blush.
Kevin pulled me over to the other side of the room so that we could talk. As we were walking away I could see Brian, Nick and AJ, giving Howie the third degree about why he wasn't going home and I felt bad that I wasn't there to help him.
"So, I guess he was glad to hear what you had to tell him, huh?" Kevin asked me.
"Yeah, he was. Just look at him. He can't stop smiling. I know how he feels."
"I know what you mean. Now, come here," he said.
"Why Mr. Richardson, what ever could you want?" I asked.
"What I want is for you to come over here and let me say goodbye to you the right way. Before we have to go and get on the plane and there are too many people around for me to be able to kiss you," he replied to me with a wicked grin on his face.
"Since you put it that way, it would be my pleasure," I said as I took him in my arms and proceeded to kiss him. It was bittersweet knowing that it would be the last time for four days.
A metallic sounding voice filtered through the speakers. "Now boarding flight 1438 non-stop service to New York's, John F. Kennedy airport at gate 28B. All ticketed passengers, please make your way to the gate at this time,"
"Well, I guess that means you have to go now, right?" I asked, trying to hold back the tears I could feel forming.
"Yeah, but we have a few more minutes. We are usually the last ones on so that we don't get mobbed," he explained.
"Good. I just don't want to say goodbye to you yet," I said, and this time I couldn't stop the tears.
"I know, babe. I know," Kevin said, as he started crying too.
We just stood there and held each other and cried until it was time for them to go and board the plane. We walked down the concourse of the airport to the gate, Kevin and I holding hands the entire way. I knew no one would see us because of all the security guards around us. They didn't want a mob scene in the middle of the airport. As we got to the gate, I dropped his hand and rubbed the tears out of my face. When we arrived at the gate, I said goodbye to each of the guys and gave them a hug. I also told Howie that I would see him Tuesday and he thanked me again, as he walked down the jet-way to the plane.
"Well I guess this is it," Kevin sniffled.
"Yeah, it is, but it's only for four days. We will be okay. I'll call you tonight. Okay?" I asked.
"You had better," he said, trying to laugh.
"I will. I promise. Now get going or they are going to leave without you. I'll talk to you tonight,"
"I'm going. Bye," he said as he started down the jet-way.
I waited until I saw the plane pull away from the gate before I left for my own flight.
"Goodbye Kevin. I love you," I said to the air, and headed to another part of the airport to go home.
Kevin walked down the jet-way, wiping the tears from his eyes. He got on the plane and sat down next to Brian.
"Is everything okay, cuz?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, everything is fine. I just don't want to leave him. That's all," he replied.
"I know you don't, but it's only for a few days. Don't worry about it."
"You're right. I'm just making a big deal out of nothing. Thanks Brian,"
"You're welcome. What are cousins for?"
Kevin looked out the window as the plane pulled away from the gate.
"I just have one question for you. Kevin. You love him. don't you?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, I do. Is it that obvious?"
"Not to most people. But I know you better than anyone else does, so it's easy for me to see it. Kevin, it's okay. He's not Ryan and he's not going to hurt you. Have you told him yet?"
"No. I was too afraid of scaring him off, and I don't want that."
"Oh. Well, I think you should tell him the next time you see him."
"I plan on it Brian. I plan on it. I'm not going to lose him,"
Kevin turned away from Brian and looked out of the window.
"Goodbye, Jordan. I love you." He said to the air.
Fifteen minutes later the plane was in the air heading to New York, and Kevin was sound asleep.
"YOU FUCKING DID WHAT ?!?!?!?" I yelled at Phil as we drove along in his car towards my house.
I was back in LA. Phil had picked me up in his car at the airport so we wouldn't have to run the risk of someone seeing me if I got into a limo.
He chose this moment to tell me that he had gotten another one of his clients a part on my show. Normally I wouldn't have minded, but the person he got the part for was my ex-boyfriend, Chad!
"Jordan, he hasn't worked on TV since `Dr. Quinn' ended. He needed the job. I thought you two would be able to be adults about this. And don't let the fact that you used to be a couple be a problem!" He insisted.
"Normally it wouldn't be, but damn it, Phil, you should have asked me first. You know things didn't end too well for us. I just would have liked to have known about it beforehand," I said, as my anger dissipated a little. Granted, Chad and I hadn't broken up on the best of terms, but we had at least remained civil to each other in the six months since we had split. But still, Phil getting him a spot on my show kind of bothered me. I just hoped Chad didn't have any ideas about us getting back together.
"Well, there wasn't time to tell you. It all happened real fast. I'm sorry," he said.
"It's okay. I know you were only doing your job. I just wasn't expecting it that's all. I'm sorry for blowing up at you. You just took me by surprise. So who is he going to be playing?"
"Well, I'll tell you, as long as you don't blow up at me again," he said.
"I promise, I won't."
"He's going to be playing your brother," Phil admitted, as he cringed, waiting for me to explode again.
"Oh...that's just great," I said. I promised I wouldn't blow up again, but that didn't mean I couldn't be mad. I couldn't believe this. Not only was he going to be on my show, but also he was going to be playing my fucking brother, which I'm sure meant that I would have plenty of scenes with him. This was great, just fucking great. How was I supposed to explain this to Kevin? We had just got together and if anything was going to be a problem for us, this was it.
The rest of the ride to my house was in silence. I was just too mad to say anything to Phil. He broke the silence once we got to my house.
"Jordan, I'm sorry that I didn't talk to you first about Chad. But he is my client too and I have to do what is best for his career, just like I do for you. I do have one little bit of good news for you though," he said trying to get me to talk to him.
"Oh? And what might that be?" I said defensively.
"I talked to the producers and director of the show and played them the music you wanted me too. They loved it and said that they would use it for the scene that you wanted,"
I screamed and hugged him. "Thank you so much Phil. You don't know how much this means to me. I forgive you about Chad. I know you were just doing your job, and everything will be okay. Thank you, thank you, thank you," I gushed.
"You're welcome,"
"Howie is bringing a better copy of the song with him when they come out on Tuesday. The only thing is, you can't say anything about this when Kevin is around. I don't want him to know that we are using it until he hears it at the taping. Can you do that?" I asked.
"Yes, don't worry. Everything will be the way that you want it. Now get out of here and get some rest," he said, pushing me out of the car.
"I'm going. I'll see you Monday right?"
"Yup. I'll pick you up. Or would you rather drive to the studio yourself?"
"I'll drive myself. I'll meet you there,"
"Alright, I'll see you Monday. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Bye!"
"Bye," I said, as I shut the door to his car and headed into my house.
Once I got inside I dropped my bags and headed to my answering machine to check my messages. I only had three, which really surprised me. The first one was from my mom, wanting to wish me a happy birthday. She was asking if I would come down to San Diego the following weekend. The next was from Sarah; she had returned to LA the day before and wanted to know how things had gone with Kevin and me. She also wanted to know what we were going to do with Howie and David. I would call her a little later and let her know that he was coming out with Kevin. The final message was one that blew me away. It was from Chad.
"Hi Jordan, its Chad. I know we haven't talked in a while, but I think that we need to. I'm sure by now Phil has told you that I'm going to be on `On Our Own' with you and I think that there are some things we need to settle between us before I show up on the set. I don't want us to have any problems. Call me when you get this. I'll be home all weekend. Bye."
Great, just fucking great. Now he wants to talk. Why was this happening to me? I didn't need this. Not at this point. I decided I would wait until the next day to call him. I just couldn't do it right then.
I wanted to take a shower and climb in bed and stay there until Kevin got to LA, but unfortunately I knew I couldn't do that.
It was only 6:30 and I had to at least eat something. I picked up the phone and dialed Sarah's number. After talking for a few minutes, we decided to meet for dinner at 8:00. That would give me time to take a shower and unpack a little.
I arrived at the restaurant around 7:45. The hostess immediately recognized who I was and, after giving her my autograph, she showed me to a table. I told her I was expecting someone and to show her to my table once she arrived. The waiter came by and I ordered a beer while I waited for Sarah to show up.
I was sitting there thinking about Kevin and didn't notice that Sarah was standing in front of me until she said my name. I looked up and saw her standing there with David.
"Oh...hi, Sarah. Hi, David," I said, a little embarrassed that I didn't see them to begin with.
"What were you thinking about? You seemed a little out there," she asked.
"Nothing...everything...Kevin." and I shut up right there. I knew about David, but I wasn't sure if Sarah had told him about me yet. "Um...David, I need to ask you something." I stuttered.
"Jordan, it's okay, Sarah already told me," he said with the cute little grin that he had.
I had to admit that if I weren't with Kevin, he wouldn't be bad.
"Thanks, um...why don't you guys sit down?" I said.
The waiter chose that moment to come back. He got their drink order and left.
"So, Jordan, how was the rest of your time in Chicago?" Sarah asked.
"It was great. I really had a good time, and the guys are great. I just wish that we could have had more time together, but that's okay though. I know that Kevin will be here next week. I just have to make it until then without going crazy. Oh...and by the way, he's bringing a friend with him," I said with a huge grin on my face as I looked right at David.
"Gee, I wonder who that could be?" Sarah said, trying to sound and look as innocent as possible.
"Guys, please tell me that who I think is coming out here is not coming out here," David pleaded.
"Well if you don't want him to come, I can call Kevin and have him tell Howie that you're not interested," I said, pulling out my cell phone.
"No...no...don't do that!" David said, grabbing my arm so that I couldn't dial the phone.
"Are you sure about that?" Sarah asked.
"Yes, I'm sure. I'm just nervous, that's all," David said as he started to blush.
"David, its no big deal. If it makes you feel any better, he's just as nervous as you are. So don't worry about it. Okay?" I asked.
"Okay...I'll be all right," he said.
We continued to talk about Howie for a few minutes until our food arrived and we all dug in. I was starving. I really hadn't eaten anything since the night before. I don't consider airplane food to be real food.
We finished eating dinner as we talked about what was going to happen once Kevin and Howie arrived. We decided to see what the guys wanted to do, rather than make any plans for them. We also knew that, during the day, they would pretty much be on their own, as the three of us had to work. But the nights would be all ours.
Half an hour later, I was home and lying in bed, when the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hi there, sexy! How are you?"
"Kevin, oh my God! I miss you so much,"
"I know, I miss you too."
"So, how is New York?"
"It's okay, not as good as it would be if you were here, but it's all right," he said, and I could hear the disappointment in his voice.
"I wish I could be there too, honey, but just think.you will be here soon, so it's not that bad."
"I know, I know. Listen, I just wanted to say good night to you and tell you I miss you."
"I miss you, too. Have a good night,"
"Good night, sweetie. I'll see you soon,"
"Bye, Kevin," I said and hung up the phone feeling a little better.
I sat on my bed for a few minutes before I stood up and got undressed and into bed. I wasn't there for more than five minutes before I felt a small set of feet walking up my leg. Then a little lick on my face, as my cat came and laid down with me. Her soft purring had me asleep five minutes later.
The rest of the weekend went by slowly, as I spent my time learning my lines for the show that I would be taping in the upcoming week. This was going to be a hard one, too. I had to film a death scene with Alicia Silverstone, who has been guest starring on the show for six episodes as my character's girlfriend. Add in the fact that Kevin would be there watching! What he didn't know was what I had in store for him while he was watching.
I talked to Kevin every night. The concert in New York went great, as did the one in Washington D.C. He told me how excited Howie was getting about meeting David, and that all of the guys missed me, but not as much as he did. I wanted so bad to tell him that I loved him. I couldn't bring myself to do it yet.
Monday morning rolled around and I was up at five a.m. to take a shower and get to the studio by 6:30. Since it was Monday that meant that would not be taping; just reading through the script to work out any bugs there might be. And of course, Chad was there. I never called him back over the weekend. I just hadn't had the strength to do it.
I had met Chad Allen when I first moved to LA and was guest starring on his show `Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman'. That led us into a very rocky relationship, which ended just before I got the part on my show.
"Jordan, hi. How are you?" Chad asked.
"Hi Chad. I'm fine. Listen, I'm sorry I didn't call you back this weekend. I just had too much on my mind and I honestly forgot about it," I answered. I knew I was lying, but it wasn't all a lie; I was to busy missing Kevin to want to call him back.
"Sure, you were. Are you sure you weren't just too pissed off finding out that I was joining the show? And you decided to just ignore me?" he asked, and he was right. That was the one thing he could always do, tell when I was lying to him. It was so hard to do. I would just look at his eyes and melt. That was what had attracted me to him in the first place.
"Okay, Chad. You're right. I was too pissed off to call you, that's part of it. You know just as well as I do that things ended badly. I just didn't feel like bringing up a lot of bad memories," I snapped at him. I was starting to get pissed off again.
"If that's part of it, what's the rest?" he asked.
"It's really none of your business."
"Fine. Be that way. But no matter how much you don't like it, I'm on this show now, and you're going to have to deal with it." he walked away.
Whatever Chad, whatever, I said to myself as he walked away. Maybe I was wrong and things wouldn't be that bad. But I still had to tell Kevin about the whole thing. I had lied to him when he asked me if I had had any bad breakups. I had said no, and now regretted it. Yet one more thing that I was going to have to tell him about once he got here. Thank God he was getting here soon. I had less than 24 hours left before I would be looking at him again and holding him in my arms. I couldn't wait.
"Howie, let's go! We're going to miss our plane, and if we do, I'm going to kill you," Kevin yelled through Howie's door.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Howie yelled back.
An hour later, both were on a plane, jetting their way to LA.
"Now arriving at gate 15, flight 983 from New York." The metallic voice called out.
He's here, he's finally here, I said to myself. I stood around the gate area waiting for Kevin and Howie to get off of the plane. I watched people walk past me and didn't see them. Then I realized, when we were in New York, they were the last to board the plane, so it only stood to reason that they would be the last off of the plane.
Then I saw him. He looked even better than he did in Chicago. Maybe it was because I hadn't seen him, but I didn't care, I knew he was here and that's all that mattered.
"Hey gorgeous," I said as they walked up to me.
"Hey there yourself," Howie said.
"I didn't mean you."
"I know, but I couldn't resist."
"Well don't let it happen again," I said laughing.
"Hi babe," Kevin said while giving me a quick hug.
"Hi, I missed you," I said hugging him back, "let's go and get you luggage and we are out of here."
We made our way to the baggage claim, grabbed their bags and headed to the parking lot.
"What, no limo?" Howie asked.
"No, we're taking my car. Is that okay?"
"Um...yeah sure. I just don't know how I feel about your driving, that's all."
"Well, wait until you see the car I'm in, it may just change your mind," I said. I couldn't wait to see Howie's face when he saw my car.
"Oh...my...dude, that car is gorgeous!" Howie exclaimed.
I had to admit that it was.
"Honey, it's beautiful, what year is it?" Kevin asked.
"It's a '65," I answered, talking about my fully restored 1965 Mustang Convertible. "My step-dad and I worked on it for 2 years getting it to look like it does now. Howie, do you approve?"
"You had better believe I do. Can I drive?"
"Are you kidding? You think I'm going to let you drive my baby? I don't think so. Now get in," I said.
It took us about half an hour to get out of the parking lot, then another forty-five minutes to get to my house.
Once we arrived at my house, I had to wake up Howie, who had fallen asleep. We grabbed their bags from the trunk and headed in.
"Babe, this place is beautiful," exclaimed Kevin.
"Thanks, wait till you see the rest of it," I said, "now come here!"
I pulled Kevin up to me, and gave him the most passionate kiss I could. Our tongue's explored each other's mouths like it was the first time we had kissed.
"Geez, will you guys get a room or something," Howie said, interrupting us.
"Well, I'm sorry. Are you jealous or something?" I shot back.
"Yes, I am," he said, trying to sound hurt.
"Don't worry, you'll get yours soon enough. But, until then, come here," I said, as I let go of Kevin, and walked over towards Howie and tried to hug him.
"No! Get away," he said, as he pushed me away playfully. "Besides, you not my type."
"Gee, thanks."
"Your welcome. Now go back to your boyfriend."
"Well, if your going to be that way about it, I will," I turned away from him, and acted as snobby as I could as I did it.
"Now where were we?" Kevin asked, as he started kissing me again.
"Right here I believe," I said in between kisses. "Come on, I'll show you the rest of the house."
I took them on the five-cent tour of the house. We left the living room, went to the kitchen, then the guest bedroom, where Howie would be staying. Then I showed them the extra bathroom in the hall as we walked to my bedroom.
"And for you Mr. Richardson, here is my room," I said, as we walked in.
"Wow!" They both exclaimed in unison.
"I guess that means you like it?" I asked.
"Um...yeah...the bed is beautiful, Jordan," Howie said, referring to my antique sleigh bed.
"Thanks. It was the first thing I bought for this place when I moved in."
"And who is this little cutie?" Kevin asked as he picked up my cat off of the bed.
"That would be Diva. And as much as I like to think that she lives here with me, it's the other way around. But, I love her anyhow."
"Hey, Kevin, maybe you should bring Quincy out her and let them get together." Howie said.
"I don't think so!" I said.
"Yeah, Howie, I don't think Quincy would like the plane trip for one thing. And for another, I want him back in Florida," Kevin explained.
I finished showing them the house and we went into the back yard where the pool and Jacuzzi were. We stayed out there for about an hour, when we all said that we were hungry. So I called and ordered pizza. It arrived half an hour later. We all ate and seeing as how Kevin and Howie were still on East Coast time, so it was three hours later for them, we all went to bed. It felt good to have Kevin's arms around me. I didn't think I was that tired, but I was out in no time at all.
I awoke the next morning at 5:30, and rolled oover and looked at Kevin. He looked so peaceful. I hated to wake him.
"Kevin, honey, wake up," I said, as I gently shook him.
"Uh...hmmm...what...what time is it?"
"It's 5:30, and I have to get ready to go to work. Do you want to come with me now, or just meet me later at the studio?"
"I think I should just meet you later. That way I can get some more sleep, and get used to the time difference."
"Okay. When you're ready, call me on my cell, and I'll send a car to come and get you guys. Now go back to sleep, and I'll see you later," I said, and bent down and gently kissed his cheek.
I went and took a shower, shaved, and got dressed. I wasn't wearing anything fancy, since this was a shooting day, and I would be given something else to wear anyhow. This was also the day we were shooting the death scene.
I stopped in the kitchen to feed Diva and headed out the door to my car. As I was driving to the studio I tried to get myself in a depressed mood, so it would be easier for me to film the scene today. But, no matter what I tried, I couldn't do it. I was just too happy. Kevin was here, with me, and I loved him. I'd be dammed if I would let anyone take him away from me. Things changed once I pulled into the studio and parked my car. As I was getting out, Chad pulled up right next to me.
Well, shit, I thought. There goes my good mood. I immediately went on the defensive.
"Good morning, Jordan," he said.
"Morning, Chad. How are you?"
"I'm fine. Thanks for asking."
"Sure. No problem," I said and walked into the studio.
I was heading for make-up and wardrobe when the director stopped me.
"Hey, Jordan, can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Yeah, sure Mike. What is it?"
"I just wanted to say good luck with your scene today. You've been busting your ass these last few episodes with Alicia, and I just wanted to let you know that it hasn't gone unnoticed. I've been hearing rumors of an Emmy for you lately, and if anyone deserves it, it's you."
"Thanks, that means a lot."
"You're quite welcome. Oh yeah, and one more thing."
"Yes?"
"I love the piece of music you picked for this scene. I'll tell you though. It cost a pretty penny for us to get the rights to use it. But, if it works the way you say it will, it'll be worth it."
"It will. Don't worry, it will."
We talked a few more minutes about the song and I continued on my way to make-up and wardrobe.
By the time I was finished with all that, it was 8:30, and I wasn't due on the set until 10:00. So I went to my dressing room to relax for a little while. As I got to the door, my cell phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey, there sexy."
"Good morning to you too. Did you sleep well?"
"Like a baby."
"Good. What about D?"
"Him too. He was up half an hour ago. I think he's a little excited about meeting David today."
"Well, he should be. I don't know how David is, but I'm sure he's feeling the same thing."
"So, what's the plan for today?"
"I'm going to send someone to come and pick you two up, it'll probably be Phil, and bring you here. The scene we're filming today is scheduled to start at 10:00. So that gives you about an hour and a half to get ready and get here."
"Okay. Howie is in the shower now, so by the time Phil gets here, we should be ready."
"Great. I'll call him now and tell him. I'll see you when you get here."
"Okay. I'll see you in a little while."
"All right babe. I miss you."
"Miss you too. Bye."
"Bye."
I had walked into my dressing room while I was on the phone with him, and was searching through all of my CD's and tapes, looking for the one that had the song on it. I found it and put it into the stereo and started it, when there was a knock at my door.
"Come in." I called out to the air.
"Hi, Jordan."
"Good morning, Alicia."
"So, how was Chicago?"
"Oh, it was great."
"Good. I love that place. There is so much to do."
"I know. I had a blast. So what's up with you?"
"Nothing much. Just sad that today is the last day we will be working together. I've really had a good time."
"Me too."
"Hey, who is this song by?" She asked, as she noticed the music coming from the stereo.
"Well, believe it or not, it's the Backstreet Boys. Specifically, Kevin Richardson. It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"Yeah, it is. What's it called?"
"It doesn't have a name yet. He's said that it doesn't have one, and it won't until something strikes him to write the lyric's for it."
"Well, I really like it."
"Good. I'm glad to hear that. Because it will be playing in the background while we a filming today. And Kevin will be during that."
"Cool. I can't wait to meet him. I think he's the cutest one out of the five of them."
"Yeah, I know what you mean." I mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Oh...nothing. I said, I guess so." I slipped. I just hope she really didn't hear what I said. All I needed was for her to find out about us.
"Okay. I wouldn't mind going out with him either." As she said this, my eyes flew open with a look of astonishment.
"You want to what?" I demanded. And as I said it, I knew in my heart that I'd blown it.
"I said, I wouldn't mind going out with him. But I didn't think that would have such an effect on you."
"I'm sorry. I don't know why I said that."
"Jordan, you too do know why you said that. How long have you two been together?"
"Is it that obvious?"
"Yeah, it is. So how long?"
Alicia and I sat for the next half an hour talking. I explained everything to her, and she promised to keep the secret. Although she was a little jealous that I had him. She left my dressing room, and I rewound the tape to listen to the song again. I just couldn't get enough of it.
I was lost in my own thoughts when there was another knock at the door.
"Come in."
"Jordan, we need you on the set in five minutes."
"Huh? Oh...okay, I'll be right there."
I got up and walked to the door, and as I opened it there stood Phil, Howie, and Kevin.
"Hi guys. Come in," I said.
The three of them walked in, and Kevin came over to me and gave me a hug and a kiss.
We talked for about a minute, and I told them that I had to be on the set in a couple of minutes, so we walked out of my dressing room and to the set. I showed Kevin and Howie where to sit so that they could see everything, and I went to take my place.
"ACTION"
***** The shot is in a hospital room*****
Christopher (Jordan) is sitting next to a hospital bed where his girlfriend Lindsey (Alicia) lies dying. She has been in a car accident, and there is nothing he can do to help her. He's crying and begging her not to leave him.
She knows that her time is limited, and is trying to reassure him that when she is gone she'll no longer be in any pain, and that he can go on with out her.
It is a very emotional scene, and both Jordan and Alicia are crying their eyes out. In the background a soft piano can be heard playing. It is this song that Jordan thinks about, and it is what is making him cry. He realizes what Kevin has come to mean to him in such a short amount of time. He pictures Kevin in the bed where Alicia is and can only imagine what it would be like if he lost him.
Jordan couldn't believe how realistic and emotional the lines were. This was some of the best writing the shows writers had ever come up with for him.
Kevin is shocked, and crying. He never thought that anybody would know how to use the song he had written after his father had died. It was his way of dealing with everything he had been feeling then. It meant so much to him, and for Jordan to figure it out was amazing. But now it took on a whole other meaning. It was his and Jordan's now. It was at that moment that he realized how much he really did love Jordan.
"Howie, is that what I think it is?"
"Yeah, Kevin it is."
"Oh...my...God. How did he know?"
"I don't know bud, but he knows how much that song means to you, and he wanted to do this for you. Don't be mad at him."
"I'm not. I just can't believe that he was able to pull this off without me finding out."
"Well, I would say that it has had its effect on both of you. That scene was incredible. I knew he was good. But I didn't realize he was that good. It almost made you think that she really had died."
"I know what you mean."
At that moment something hit Kevin. It was a moment of inspiration. He needed to write. But he had to wait for Jordan.
"CUT. That is a wrap everyone. Good job."
There wasn't a dry eye on the set. The scene had effected everyone.
"Jordan, that's the best work I've ever seen you do," the director said.
"Thanks," I answered as I left the set and headed to Kevin.
"Well, what did you think?" I asked.
"You were fantastic. I couldn't keep from crying," Kevin answered.
"I hope you didn't mind me using your song like that. But I knew I had to for this. It is just so beautiful, I wanted everyone to hear it."
"Thank you so much, Jordan. You don't know what it means to me."
"Come on, let's go to my dressing room and talk, and get this make-up off of me, and I'm yours for the rest of the day."
We made our way to my dressing room not really saying much to each other on the way. When we got there, Kevin and I just hugged each other and started kissing. Howie left to go and look around and give us some privacy. Kevin told me about why he wrote the song and what was going through his head at the time. He also told me that it was no longer a song about death and sadness, but about hope and happiness. We stayed like that for what seemed like hours, when there was a knock at my door. I went to open it and it was Phil.
"I just want to tell you that you were right and that it was perfect. I'm glad you pushed for it as much as you did."
"Thank you for all of your help setting this up. I never would have been able to do it without you."
"That's my job remember. Oh, and before I forget, the director needs to talk to you for a few minutes."
"All right. Kevin will you be okay here while I'm gone?"
"Sure will babe. I have Phil to keep me company, and I'm sure Howie will be back in a few."
"Okay. I'll be back as soon as I can," I said, gave him a quick kiss and headed out.
"Phil, I need something to write on and to write with now, before I forget everything."
"Here is a pen," he said handing him one, and looking for some paper and finding some, "here you go."
"Thanks. Before I get this down, I have two questions. First, how long do you think Jordan will be gone? And second, will there be a chance where the song will be used again in a future episode?"
"Well, he'll probably be gone ten to fifteen minutes, and yes I know that there is another time when the song will be used again. Why?"
"I just needed to know. Once I finish, I'll tell you why."
Kevin started to write, and Phil looked over his shoulder to see what he was writing and only saw one line, it was a title and it read:
"IN THE DEEPEST HEART"
*A note from the author
There you go. What did you think? And if anybody can figure out what song it is that Jordan played during the filming, and everyone is talking about let me know. If you can't figure it out let me know also, and I'll tell you. That's all for now. I'm already working on Chapter 10, and it should be out soon. I also want to that everyone who has written for their support. You have made this much easier to write. Thanks.
