I stood him on the dining room chair both of us made a fuss over his shorts, shirt, and his new shiny shoes and socks. The smile on his face was priceless as Kasey took more photos. I had fixed his hair the way he liked it, and he looked so adorable. First day at school and the nerves had gotten the better of me. Kasey tried to calm me down earlier on, but it was futile, our little boy was banging on the bedroom door telling us to get up because he might miss school.

Hair gel a flip front and a hat hanging down his back to top his look off, he did look so cute. I checked his backpack, his lunch box was in it with some pencils and an exercise book. Attached to the side was a small brown bear hanging off a key ring. Chloe had bought it for him for good luck and he wasn't going to leave it at home. His papa attached his front door key, then it was clipped on and pushed inside the pack. Spiderman (courtesy of Joe) was blazing across the front so he would know which bag was his.

We are toning down the military stuff a bit, and now he is known as class one Sam Casey. He was so happy with his look, he did go to the bathroom several times to check everything was good.

"Okay class one Casey, are we ready to go?"

"Yes, poppa ready when you are." He saluted.

I made a silent sniffing noise Kasey looked at me and said.

"It's six hours Adam, almost the same as kindy.

"I know, but I'm still going to miss him." Sam laughed and told me I was being silly, he was more than good to go.

"Are you going to miss me too baby?"

"Yes Daddy, very very much." I hugged him again.

"Ready?"

"Ready Daddy, are the other kids going to be there?"

"Yes," I said for the tenth time this morning.

Down in the lift we went and we were met by Uncle Jimmy who was going to help us walk him to school. Trish and Joe were at the ready and as we passed the salon all my crew came out and waved him good luck. The fed building was littered with guys waving to him and he marched up the street as proud as punch in his new uniform.

The school was only three streets away so it was past my salon and the fed building then another street, then his school. It was tucked away in a back street, not on the main road, thank god.

I knelt and explained the lolly-pop lady's job and he understood he had to take orders from her and he's to do what she says. We got to the other side and Jimmy kissed him then Trish and Joe, then me. Kasey picked him up, and I saw moisture coming from my potential husband's eyes.

"It's only six hours Kasey." I nearly screamed laughing in his ear.

"Sam, Sammy, over here Sam." The kids yelled out he looked at me and I said.

"Go, your mates are waiting for you." He ran off like lightning dodging everyone and not saying farewell to us, and he joined the other excited kids. Okay, we five were almost in tears and so were most of the other parents as we stood there and watched our kids excitedly go into the playground.

We walked silently back to the salon, Kasey kept looking at his phone but I doubt Sam would have anything newsworthy to say so early in the day. I made coffee and talked to the staff, there were some sniggers and smirks, and I understood we were the ones being the babies. Sam had been so excited to go to his first big school.

"What have you got on for the day Kase?"

"I thought I might do some work from Joe's office, some milk board stuff."

"The office that overlooks the school."

"Yes, Adam that one, but I will be working."

"Sure you will, don't get caught taking photos it's illegal," I smirked and looked at Gloria, who had been eating a bun. She was called into the salon for a client and then I looked at Joe and said.

"No fancy ideas about your desk and Kasey's ass either." He blushed. He did go overboard to procure Kasey's business, only because he didn't understand how clever my husband was. Joe's work is minuscule compared to what Kasey has done in the past, a walk in the park he said.

"Adam you have Aunty Mary waiting, just a wash and set, I have Lynnie onto the wash." Trish came in and said.

"Up to no good again Mr Joe?" She looked at him and he blushed once more.

"What would you like for lunch, my lovely lady?" He did a flourishing bow. Trish was putty in his hands, he certainly knows how to charm the ladies, and some men.

"Just a tossed chicken salad thank you, Sir Joseph."

"I love it when you talk dirty." He laughed.

Kasey kissed me and left for work, his ass looked so good in those hipsters and he knew it, he wags it at me all the time. Today there was no jacket just a shirt tie and hipsters because it's a nice sunny day, so he could tease me some more. Joe left and I went to do my client, she was telling me she had twenty-four family members for Christmas lunch, and on the side, she said it was the best Christmas she had ever had. I wouldn't expect anything else from Aunty Mary she never says a bad, or a cross word.

I worked on her hair and was watching Gloria, she was talking to Ethan who looked smashing today, he had purchased a pair of Cody's hipster jeans, and they suited him with a big chunky belt to go with them. She was laughing and it was nice to see she had settled into her relationship with the admiral.

Kasey is still working on the Federal lofts, he and Mick's film crew have many hours of footage, they even had Billy and Sam silently running through the halls, it looked magic when I saw the rushes. Adele's TV show is up to episode four and number one on the most-watched list worldwide. At the moment Chloe is working on the jewellery part of things then she starts on the contracts and designers. Kasey said there may be either a movie or more episodes, like a second season. The possibilities are almost endless in Adele's life, there was so much collected and so much going on back then. When I look back she only told me a fraction of what her story was, there was so much more we had found.

Trish's wedding dress is finished and being stored at Cody's shop, we took half a day to go and be fitted, Trish was on the brink of shedding tears all day it was so beautiful. The dress was almost a copy of Adele's, a double circle calf length stiff organza, beads, crystals, and pearls glistened with every movement, and Cody had done a scarf that draped down to the hem all in white and heavily beaded on the ends. It had the stiffest petticoat I have ever seen under it and Trish looked so beautiful almost doll-like. She insisted it is stored at Cody's shop because she doesn't want to arrive home one day and find Joe trying it on, he could do anything because he was on top of the world.

"Did he get there okay?' I heard a familiar voice.

"Yes, Chloe he will be out at three."

"Can I pick him up?"

"Yes along with the others." I laughed.

"Oh Aunty Mary, do you watch Being Adele Banks?"

"Oh yes, my daughter-in-law and I never miss an episode, we love it so much. I remember Adele Banks from when I worked at the cafeteria at Myers, she used to come in for high tea sometimes, she was such a beautiful genuine lady."

"We must talk more then. This is Chloe Merchant she plays Adele in the show, Chloe our dearest aunty Mary." Well, she had to look twice then she looked at me and said.

"A very good choice, Adele and Chloe are very similar in looks. I am so pleased to meet you young lady what a lovely treat for me Adam, thank you." Chloe shook her hand and then she said.

"Would you like a photo of you and me?"

"Oh my god it is my lucky day, thank you I would love that." She set her phone up and I took several photos, then Chloe signed a big promotional photo for her.

"I can't wait to show my girls, thank you, you are so very kind."

"That's okay Aunty Mary anything for a wonderful fan like yourself."

Well, that made her day, and someone's day was going to get bigger when she appears at his school to 'help' pick him up.

She said she would meet us there she had to go and see Joe about something then she would make her way up to the school. She gave Mary a peck on the cheek, then she left. I followed her out the front and the wolf whistles started coming from the fed building. I was secretly jealous, at one time I was at the other end of said wolf whistles, but for other sad reasons.

She took it all in her stride as she walked straight past the building, everyone knew it was her because she was sort of in costume and her heels were fabulous not even Gloria could pull off that look, well maybe she could.

Later in the day, it was like a production when Kasey arrived looking like he had been posing for modelling photos all day. Mick was with him and there was no Joe in sight. Trish walked up with us and we picked Joe and Chloe up on the way, there was no Jimmy, he had business to attend to. It was warm as we stood there waiting nervously with fifty other parents. Kasey had inched his way to the curb, so he would be first across the street. The bell went and kids came from everywhere, all excited to see their mums and dads or grandparents.

I watched Kasey because he was the biggest adult and when he threw his arms in the air I knew he had spotted Sam. His arms were full of a little kid and his backpack before we even got across the road.

"Aunty Chloe," He screamed, which started a sea of mums wanting autographs, maybe I will get him to tone it down next time. I had waited at the back there was no need for me to rush in with the others. Kasey was slowly walking over to us and as soon as he saw me he screamed again.

"Dad!." He fell into my arms and collected his hugs and kisses, his backpack was passed to Kasey and I said.

"He wants me." I laughed into my son's face as he started telling me about his day.

"No daddy, our teacher Mrs Thomas told us to write our names and do some numbers I was the best at it and the fastest. I like her daddy she and I are kindred spirits she said, what's kindred daddy?"

"You are like-minded, you think the same."

"Oh okay that is good isn't it?'

"Very good son."

Kasey was hanging onto every word as he almost pushed Joe out of the way to walk next to me. Chloe and Trish came up the rear giggling and they had drawn a small crowd but that petered off after fifteen yards, because the ladies had kids to look out for. We ducked into the salon where Sam collected more hugs and questions. Gloria sat him at her station and the barrage of questions started. I knew it wouldn't be long before his eyes started drooping, he has had a big day, so I quieted everyone down and told Kasey to take him home for a nap. He was happy to do that little job. I stayed at work because I knew they would have a small father-and-son talk before he dropped off for ten minutes.

I was working longer nowadays and would walk home with Trish and Joe, but today I was a bit eager to get there. I left a little earlier and I found both of them fast asleep on my grandpa sofa. I looked at my son then Kasey, he was sporting a boner, so I changed and grabbed a wine and sat on the balcony, which hasn't changed much but I did love the tiles and windows. I will do his lunch box later on but for now, I was looking at the iPad to see if there were any Banks Trust business, or emails, which there weren't. After a half hour, the TV went on and Sam was looking for a drink in the fridge.

"What would you like to drink baby?"

"Some cold milo I think Daddy."

"Okay, I'll bring it over."

He ran back to his spot and started his afternoon viewing. Kasey had woken up because I could see his arm raise as he rubbed his face. He took his time but when he saw me place the drink on the coffee table he sat up messed Sam's hair, stood up, and then herded me urgently into the bedroom. After he took advantage of me, and he took his time about it, he showered and then he sat at the table.

"What are we doing for dinner baby?"

"I have some chops in the fridge, with veggies?"

"Nice, can we do that later I need to speak with you, apparently it's important family business." He winked.

"Sure what's up?"

"I got a message from Jimmy today, he wants me to tell you something before it hits the newspapers."

"What would that be Kase?"

"He wants me to tell you I love you, and will you marry me before the news tells everyone we are not married?"

"Why does he want you to tell me?"

"Because he thinks if we are married things would go a lot better in his life." He kept looking over at where Sam was sitting.

"Yes I will marry you as soon as possible Kasey Casey, do you have a ring?'

"I do have rings, Jimmy gave them to me." He fished around in his pocket and bought out a band of gold with diamonds then slipped it on my finger. At this very moment, Sam rang Jimmy and I heard him say.

"He said yes." Then he hung up.

"Come here Sam, papa and I have something to tell you." That was it, no expensive restaurant, no down-on-the-knee proposal, nada. But I didn't need that because I was very happy. It has always been our plan but with everything going on it slipped our minds to get legally married. I found out it will happen at the cabin apparently, and we will invite the whole town. All we have to do is be there on the day the rest is all done...apparently.

"When?"

"As soon as possible so I am told." he grinned and then passed a ring the same as mine over for me to place on his finger. These are just engagement rings we will use Johnny's and Jimmy's wedding rings for the day, I am in two minds about using them now, but a promise is a promise.

We sat with Sam and he already knew the date, and because we have been fitted for Trish's wedding, we don't need to hire any suits just wear the ones we have hanging in the wardrobe, although Sam's may need a little adjusting, he has grown a few inches. His day was complete, he rang Billy to compare schools, ate dinner, then went to bed early because he might miss school tomorrow if he slept in. We both read him a story and he dropped off peacefully, it wasn't so peaceful in our bedroom as Kasey needed an engagement present and he wanted one with the lot, his hard-assed chest was shoved in my face to lick, as he did his hip moving thing to perfection.

The next morning was very much like yesterday he was very excited to get going early because, if he gets there early he can play a bit.

So that was it, we had spent an hour on his homework because he had to get it right, this is school, not kindy he reminded us. He talked to Billy about his day for one hour then he watched some programs. I think he's trying hard to cram everything into his day. I will have a word with him about the way he organises himself, he doesn't need to ring Billy every night, they have the same or similar conversation each time. His homework isn't hard and could go quicker but Kasey has to explain everything to him, which takes up his valuable time. I will try to talk to them both, and then make up a schedule.

The wedding was in two weeks and pizza was requested. Along with the pizza came casseroles salads desserts, sandwiches, and a lot of country party fare I hadn't seen for a long time. We had three tables full of food and we didn't have to do a thing, the community page did it all for us.

Kids played in the zoo, Sam got dirty and Kasey almost threw up with nerves. It was a kid's party organized by a kid, so there were clowns and magic acts for his guests, horse rides out the front, and a very excited cow that was teaching the kids how to milk her. He did very well under Uncle Jimmy's supervision. He made sure Sam and his mates had everything to entertain themselves. We adults got a lady who sang with a guitar, some choral singers who did a show, and a lot of dancing with a DJ wherever we could find the room.

Kasey looked amazing he stood there and waited for me to arrive, but I had my instructions. I did a circle at the back of the crowd and ended up behind him, then I tapped him on the shoulder.

"Special request to amuse you." I looked down at Sam who was giggling. Kasey picked him up and kissed me.

"Any more surprises son?"

"Maybe." He's not telling us it's all a secret, but he is having a great day.

The service was real and we said our vows which were the expected sort of loving tones we speak to each other all the time.

"Don't forget me."

"Oh yes and our son Sam, the boy we love with all our hearts and the best grade one student in the country. We thank you for this wonderful wedding you will make a great organiser in the future son." The smiles started again then the yawns. The house was eventually full of kids having a nap and Billy and Sam curled up in a corner with their bears. Of course, bears were all invited to the wedding, alive or stuffed. While they napped it gave us a chance to thank everyone and to have something to eat. Trish and Joe were the talk of the town they can't wait for them to get married, and I did overhear Joe saying they should get Sam to organise it for them. I was a little put out that we didn't use Jimmy and Johnny's rings and when I asked Kasey he said we will talk about it later.

Jimmy was the official photographer and although he got many beautiful photos of us and our guests, he also got plenty of Sam with his animals playing in the forest, and loads of his mates. At the end of the day, everyone was tired, and our son had done a great thing for us. We probably would be still thinking about it if he hadn't heard at school most daddies and mummies are married. He sat up with Billy, mum, and dad while Kasey and I showered and went to bed. I could hear people leaving but was too bloody tired to hang around, I will make a big thank you announcement on the community page tomorrow. Kasey was half asleep and half horned up, his sleep won in the end, and I wasn't able to perform at all, but I still did some gentle touching.

There were many requests for us to open up the forest for weddings and birthday parties, but we declined because it's our and Sam's getaway. If the locals want to do something there are plenty of public parks for them to use. I wasn't being mean it was just a matter of preserving the area from crowds of partygoers running in and out of a kid's playground.

Anyway, in the morning we did make love and by the time I appeared breakfast was ready and we ate a lot of leftovers. My ring sparkled and Jimmy smiled.

"They are a lot better than Johnnys and mine Adam. Do you love them?"

"Yes we do, and we are still going to use your rings as our wedding bands."

"I know you are, I had them remade and added a few stones from Adel's collection, you are wearing them now."

"What, you had them melted down?"

"Yes Adam, they were a bit old-fashioned the way they were, so I had them updated."

I held my hand up and felt a lot better wearing it, I thanked him and Kasey smiled then took my hand.

"Dad, can I have some of that white stuff with the fruit on it?"

"The pavlova son, is there any left?"

"Of course there is Dad."

"Two pav's coming up, two sugar rushes to be dealt with me thinks?" I got up and found a half-eaten one in the fridge and cut two slices, no I cut three, no I cut it all up, and placed it on the table. Looks like everyone wants a piece. I have food to last another week in the fridge, I must get onto that community page and thank everyone.

Kasey was huddled with dad most of the afternoon, Jimmy went back to town and Trish and Joe were at the farm. Mum and I took drinks down to the chill area and we sat watching the kids play. I could have opened presents but they were all done yesterday at someone's insistence. There were too many for us and a lot of double-ups. Trish and I will divvy them up and give them to people we know who could use them. I asked mum what they were talking about and she said she overheard a drop-in centre for the vets, she added.

"Kasey's working on something to do with the vets in the area Adam, dads just guiding him, and I believe he will get involved."

"That's good, he's been wanting to do something for a while now. I wonder what he has in mind."

"If I know Kasey it won't be small, and it won't be cheap." She giggled.

I settled in for an afternoon of relaxation. My son and his friends were still finding glasses and plates hidden in the forest, but I didn't mind it kept them occupied. Mum was telling me that Billy will start his art classes soon, and he has to make up his mind about which of the arts he is going to be doing, drawing or stage, she said it's a small class, and not many of the parents steer their kids down that road. But he's happy to do it, it gets him out of schoolwork for an hour now and then. I think she said he starts with the choir and then works out what he wants to do after that, he may not want to do anything but she said he has the talent. I don't think he will be a hairdresser he has never been interested in what I do, only to his hair, that's important to him. I will leave it all up to Mum, but she did say the military presence has dropped off significantly and Billy hadn't noticed.

I started reading the comments on the community page they were all positive and the folks all had a great time along with the kids. The happy couple were delicious and many a poster wished we were still single and straight, except for one or two guys in the area who didn't mind if we were gay.

I wrote a heartfelt thank you note and said I will leave plates and tins on my doorstep before we leave on Monday. I didn't wait for a response I shut the computer down because I had taken it into the bedroom and a certain Lieutenant was playing in my crotch, which was very nice.

"I want to ask you something?"

"Anything Kasey, threesome no problem group session, I can do that." He laughed.

"Well, the threesome I could handle don't know about being the meat in the sandwich in a group though."

"You will do very well Kase, now what is it?"

"I need to get Chloe a minder, she has them when she's doing events, but I am thinking of a permanent one that can either follow her around or walk with her. She's so famous now, and she doesn't realise how vulnerable she is to the public's craziness. The school was a wake-up call she was surrounded by the mums and I saw a little moment in her eyes."

"A moment?"

"Like she was scared, or panicked. So I think we need to hire a bodyguard, nothing too butch just someone that looks like a natural escort."

"Who have you got in mind?"

"I will know him when I see him, and he will be ex-military that is for sure."

"Maybe we could invite him for a threesome."

"Not what I'm saying Adam, and stop trying to turn me on."

I knew what he was saying we needed to find Chloe a partner and bodyguard like Kasey does with me, dad does with mum, and Wilson does with Eva that kind of guy.

"And the Vets?"

"Dads looking for a warehouse, we can set up beds and a soup kitchen. I hate the word soup kitchen, maybe change it to chill out kitchen."

"Sounds good to me, do you know where?"

"Over near your north side shop, I can get a warehouse at a reasonable rate there."

"No freebies?"

"Not this time but if he pushes the vet idea maybe they will come to the party."

"They should, they caused it." I wasn't being nasty it was just that's the way I see it personally.

He was hard and I put the computer aside and started working on him.

"This threesome, who would you like to include?"

"I have no idea Adam, but it's sexy just to think about it." I noshed down and showed him how sexy I can be, it's called distracting him.

We cleaned the cabin up and placed all the dishes out the front then we drove home, it had been a big weekend for all of us and Sam has school tomorrow. He fell asleep on the way home and I was so proud of him doing that for us. Our certificate was carefully stored away and I will place it in an album when I get a wedding day one. Kasey took him upstairs and I filled the trolly and followed. I was just coming out of the lift when I bumped into Joe, he was going downstairs for coffee because Trish was resting, he wiggled his eyebrows. After inviting him in for one he made himself comfortable next to Kasey at the table. Sam was in his bed and I looked through the fridge for something for dinner.

"Pizza tonight Adam, special request," Kasey said.

Joe was talking to him about some investment or other I could see Kase wasn't interested.

"Leave it all to me, Joe, it's okay the way it is."

"But we may improve it by shifting it."

"Leave it alone."

"But Kasey."

"But Kasey nothing, how would you like to have a threesome with us?" He stared at him. Joe's face went white, he didn't know what to say so I started laughing my ass off.

"Got you there Joey," I said.

"You were joking, I knew that."

"Well stop being a pest and drink your coffee." I placed it in front of him and then sat.

"Bodyguard Kasey, where are you looking?"

"I haven't decided yet but I want ex-military, or someone that knows the business."

"Bodyguard?" Joe looked at me.

"For Chloe, she needs one now, things will get out of hand quickly as she is seen out and about more."

"I don't think she cares much Kasey, she's always looked after herself, or her mouth has."

"You don't see the fear in her eyes Joe, I see it plain as day and she needs someone to step up for her. What kind of guys does she like?"

"You're setting her up?"

"Not really, but if the guy became a friend he would be more inclined to protect her more, like you do with Trish, they have to be compatible."

"I know what you mean Kasey, she's only had a few boyfriends and even I didn't know them that well, maybe Mum is the one to talk to."

"And James and Marko she does go to the clubs with them a bit, maybe she's talked to them." I offered.

"You are right, Joe talk to your mum you can tell her what it's all about. Adam talk to the boys tomorrow and Gloria goes to the clubs too."

Trish arrived and I wrote down the pizza orders.

"I will look like a pizza soon we have had so many this past weekend." She said.

Joe replied.

"You look fine my lady have you ever thought about a threesome?" She screamed laughing and when she settled down she looked at me.

"Why do I get the feeling this was your doing?"

"No his." I pointed to Kasey.

"Oh that's better, yes Joe I would love a threesome with you and Kasey."

Once again Joe went white and then he went quiet.

We told her what we were thinking with Chloe the production house will pay for a minder, and she said out of the blue.

"That's easy she likes Wilson's look, of course, she wouldn't do anything because she loves Eva."

"I see, well tall military sandy blonde and not gay."

"That's it, she likes the light-haired boys," Joe said.

"Do we know any strawberry blondes or blondes?"

"Not yet we don't," Kasey whispered as he punched at his computer keyboard.

Sam came out he was very slow and still groggy, he veered for me and I placed him on my knees. I looked straight into his beautiful brown eyes and he started closing his eyelids. He will have another ten minutes and I placed my cup in front of Trish and tapped it. She huffed and looked at the others they all did the same.

Kasey tapped away and I guess he has a list of possibilities he can call on. I don't know why he doesn't ring a security firm and order one to measure, they do have different-looking guys, don't they?

Sam woke.

"Feeling any better baby?"

"Yes, Daddy can I watch TV now?"

"Of course, you can, drink?"

"Just milk daddy."

"Okay, one cool glass of milk coming up.

He jumped down and went to sit on the soft sofa. Trish got him the milk and Joe was still very quiet so I nudged him.

"She got you there buddy."

"I was thinking about two females Adam."

"She knew that, but you did leave it open to interpretation." I giggled.

"So it's pizza again tonight?"

"Yes, I can't be assed cooking."

"That's fine I might order a two in one." He smirked as Trish walked by and slapped his head.

"Behave." She laughed.

Sam was still as excited as his first day, he was dressed and already sitting at the table watching his papa, who had a slight smile on his face because he knew it was nearly time to go.

"Right class one student, is it time to go?" He finally said.

"Yes, poppa I have been ready forever."

"Have you, I didn't notice?" He laughed at Sams's face.

We took his backpack and went down in the lift, no Trish or Joe this morning but a big wave coming from the salon. The army guys saluted him and he returned the gesture then he almost ran to greet the candy lady.

"Oy, Sam get back here," Kase yelled.

"Yes, poppa?"

"How about a hug for me and Daddy."

"Oops sorry, I forget." He did that job then he waited for his brightly coloured friend to see him across the road.

We walked back to the salon where he kissed me and then left to do his day job.
