Adam 47
Maxieplus
It was a short nap and I felt refreshed when I got up I wanted to start washing and put some stuff in the fridge. He was still sleeping and it took him ten minutes to follow me out. He kissed me checked on Sammy, then started unloading his computer and paperwork. I looked at his law books and thought they would never be used again as he stacked the paperwork on the table. He had taken his few books and placed them on the floor, I was once again let down.
"I have to be in court next Thursday Adam."
"Oh yes, and what would this be for?"
"I'm going to sit in on a case Luca thinks I might have some thoughts on, a murder case."
"Have you read the trial minutes already?"
"Yes Adam I want to see the man in person, he is testifying on Thursday."
"When did you read them?'
"On the plane coming back here, they were emailed to me. Luca isn't sure he has the right man and he wanted my thoughts."
"So you are working for him also."
"Just for this case baby."
"Yes, just for this case, how long do you have to go with your studies?"
"About two years."
"That gives you plenty of time to read all those important books then." I was being sarcastic.
"I'm sorry Adam, but all this extra stuff is really interesting. I know a lot of what's written in the books, don't ask me how I know I just know. I promise I will get back to them by the end of the week." He stopped what he was doing and pulled me in.
"I don't want you to crash and burn Kasey, I want you to concentrate on one thing. How many problems are you working on anyway?"
"I finished the Indonesian one, and this pile is for Malaysia, the court case, and my study plus some time in class but that's not important."
"Okay, you will let me know if you're struggling won't you?"
"I want you to tell me if you think I am doing too much, and I promise I will listen and stop some of it. I rely on your observations to do that for me." he kissed my wanting lips.
"I promise I will then, but I don't think you should be doing Luca's work."
"Just observing Adam, he has doubts in his mind and I will see if that doubt is founded if I can."
"He thinks the guy is not guilty then?"
"I can't say. But I can say Luca wasn't the arresting officer and he has doubt, where doubt is involved there is no case."
I made coffee and then hung the first wash on the clothes horse in the spare room, then I attended to my son. He was playing with his puppets and watching tv at the same time. I asked him if he wanted anything and he indicated a piece of chocolate would be most pleasing. I grabbed him some then sat at the table to watch my man. I then saw something I thought I had thrown out, the piece of paper I had drawn on at the cabin. He had smoothed it out and left it in plain sight. Later on, I spied it had been moved and placed in one of his volumes on the floor, I would make a great detective.
I ran the bath because Sam's hair needed a wash and I needed to relax. He likes his bath but I sometimes think he might be better off under the shower, mum said kids hate all that water on their heads. When he does shower with us either I or Kasey hold him up but in the bath, the water is only warm and I hate that.
What the hell am I complaining about, he's my son and he needs a bath with an adult in the room, so get over it Adam I chastised myself.
I washed and pampered him for some time then he wanted to get out, his program will be starting soon and he has to ring Billy.
I got out and dried him then I called Kasey who took him to the bedroom to put his pyjamas on, moments later I was drawing more steaming hot water while Kase humped me from behind. He left for a short while then came back with the sarong, placing it around me.
"Fantasies of island life Kasey?"
"Yes some of those guys looked so hot in them, but you're hotter." He rubbed his hands all over my body the I stepped into the bath, now that's better. I had to leave it on so it got soaking wet as I languished in my awesome bathtub, it had to be washed anyway.
Sammy was dead tired by the time he finished his programs and he's got kindy tomorrow so I talked him into going to bed earlier than usual. Kasey did read him part of his story and I kissed his forehead because he was asleep almost immediately.
Kase sat up and I went to bed, I was tired and he wanted to finish something he was reading. I worry that he's going to overload his brain and it will burst, and I still worry that his memory may not be fully back. The door opened and he slowly and quietly stripped, I know it was late because I opened one eye and looked at my bedside clock, one am. The bed moved and he pulled me around and the last thing I heard was.
"Thank you."
I let him sleep in and went to get coffee, Sam was still asleep and I thought I might just have a little read of Luca's paperwork. I know he doesn't want me involved but I had nothing better to do.
I had to chuckle to myself when I saw it, only the first page and the inventory of the murder scene solved the case. Kasey didn't see it and neither did Luca's men. The husband had stabbed a neighbor in the kitchen while his wife was at the supermarket. He stated the neighbor had threatened him with a knife and after a heated argument they struggled and somehow the man had fallen on his weapon to die later in the hospital. He was charged with involuntary murder.
Sammy walked out and I grabbed him and kissed him good morning, he was still a little tired so I pulled him onto my knees and he laid back.
"Have some more sleep baby, you haven't quite finished." He smiled closed his eye's and dropped off. I was now stuck with an empty mug and the paperwork I had read in front of me. I tried to stack it up again and push it over to where it was, but my man came out and caught me.
"Adam."
"Good morning baby no shouting please, Sam's still asleep."
"Umm, coffee?"
"That would be awesome, baby."
I was watching how peaceful Sammy looked laying in my arms, he's a great little kid and we do love him so much.
The coffee was placed in front of me followed by a morning kiss then he grabbed his paperwork and made the stack more presentable.
"How much did you read?"
"Not a lot only two pages."
"Good."
"I solved the case by the way." He giggled and replied.
"Oh? And how did you do that my Adam, get a reading over the phone from Rhoda?"
"The wife did it."
"Yeah, right she wasn't even at home when it happened."
"She was, he wasn't, he's covering for her." I placed an evil grin on my face.
He didn't believe me and started looking at it again, I let him go.
Sammy stirred and opened his eyes.
"Good morning daddy."
"Good morning son, do you feel better now."
"Yes thank you daddy." He sat up and looked at Kasey.
"Good morning poppa."
"Good morning son."
"Can I have some toast daddy?"
"Sure you can, why don't you go sit on the sofa and watch some tv, do you want some spaghetti on your toast?"
"Yes please." He slipped down and I went to get him his food.
"So you say you solved it where?"
"The first page and the inventory Kasey." He shuffled the paperwork and started reading.
It's not very often I have a win with Kasey unless it's in the bedroom but I think today's win will be epic, and maybe I will be consulted in the future.
"I can't see anything Adam, what the hell are you talking about?"
"I am very glad you asked me that question councilor, where's the shopping?"
"What shopping?"
"She went to the supermarket, where is the shopping, there is no mention of it?"
"In the car."
"When I take the car to the supermarket, I always unload it and bring the shopping up here. I struggled until you gave me a very nice shopping trolley. They lived on the third floor and she would have bought it up with her so she didn't have to make two trips. So I ask you again councillor where is the shopping?"
"She left it outside the apartment."
"No mention of shopping anywhere, even in the car when they searched it."
"That's too easy."
"I'm easy too councillor, want to see how easy I can be?" I battered my eyelashes.
The paperwork went flying as he put them back into order then he started reading it all again.
"I will get back to you later Adam, and hold that easy thought,"
I made Sam some warm milo he likes that the best in the morning then I went to make the beds and get ready for my day.
It was when I turned the shower on he appeared, his shorts were off within seconds and he was rubbing up against me a moment later.
"You are so good for me my Adam with an a, thank you."
"So you concur with my findings councillor?"
"I certainly do, it was a simple clue I couldn't see, and neither could two lawyers and four detectives."
"Sometimes it's the simplest of things that confuse us, Kasey, can you reward me now?'
"My pleasure." He knelt.
"He's covering for his wife Luca, you need to talk to her about the shopping trip." Kase was on the phone while I dressed Sam.
"No Adam did, he looked it over and saw it immediately."
"I will tell him, but I doubt he will join the police force anytime soon."
"I will come to see you around ten." He hung up.
"He wants you to join them."
"I have a job."
"Thank you."
"It's okay, fresh eyes and all that. Want a hand with the Malaysian stuff?"
He started laughing and grabbed Sammy tickling him to the floor, I didn't get an answer.
I walked up to the salon with a spring in my step, stopping at the bakery and then dodging the traffic to cross the road I stood at the front door once again. The most exciting time of the day is when I step inside and the salon embraces me with its smells. Today I stood there for ages taking it all in and remembered the disaster that had befallen it. Thankfully that's just a memory that tries to haunt me occasionally. Pushing it away again I went to do my little chores.
I bought croissants today, I sometimes like to have them on offer. Gloria was first to arrive, she looked beautiful and when I asked if she had a call she put on a sad face and said no.
She wasn't too worried about it, if it happens it happens if it doesn't then no harm is done.
Anne, James, and Marko arrived together, they looked well so no big raging parties on the weekend I guessed. Tim was in a great mood and grabbed a croissant to graze on as he sat with me.
"How is it all going?"
"Good Adam, can I ask you if we can borrow the cabin for a night?"
"Sure you can just let me know when because we are going to have it renovated."
"Thank you I need to get Keith out of town, he works too much."
"He will love it up there why don't you go this weekend, I have left instructions on the kitchen counter, just reset the fire and turn the hot water and fridge off stuff like that."
"I will comply with your wishes, Adam." He smiled.
"Don't frighten the kids next door either." I laughed.
"Adam do you know what the Malaysian government has Kasey looking into?"
"No, but I presume it's smuggling Tim, why?"
"Just something Keith said, he said Kasey is out of his depth on something, then he mentioned Malaysia."
"Well it's a lot of paperwork, but I haven't a clue what's in them. If Keith thinks it's a big case then it must be."
"It's just that I don't want Kasey to spend all his time on it, from what Keith said it sounds futile."
"I will ask him Tim, but he doesn't tell me anything much only that when he did the Indonesian one he was up all night, a lot."
"Maybe have a word with him, Keith sounded like he wasn't too confident."
I winked at him and then I made a coffee to take to my station.
I was missing a staff member and looked around for her, Trish hadn't arrived, which is unusual for her. I asked Eva when she came in and she pulled me aside.
"Give her a few hours Adam, she's not coping with Evans moving out."
"She was fine about it on the weekend we talked for ages, and she said she was fine, now I'm worried."
"Don't be, she just wants to be on her own in the apartment for an hour or so. I think she's going to be lonely for a time, but you know Trish she will bounce back."
I grabbed my first customer and started talking haircuts with him, he wanted a Kasey look, that's what I call it now, so I set about doing that small job for him. He also mentioned that he would like to come in and have it tipped but was too shy.
"How about we do it gradually? I can do some light tips now, and next week we can place more into it. People won't notice the new look so easily then. When your next cut is required we can do it all then, not so obvious." I smiled at this rebel.
"Good Adam thank you I didn't want to turn up with a shocking head of blonde tips."
"Leave it to me, I have this." I smiled.
Lynnie walked in looking well, I think she's over her cold and I will talk to her later on.
My soldier looked terrific when I finished with him, subtle, but much lighter hair, he won't have any trouble at all. My man called in on his way to Luca's office he had dropped Sam off, and now he wants a croissant to munch on.
"Kasey this Malaysian thing you have to look over, do you think it will go anywhere?"
"I don't know at the moment Adam, it's a bit of a mess, why?"
"I was only thinking baby, there is a lot of paperwork to get through."
"Yes, and it's not in any order which makes it a bit harder for me."
I left it alone, if Keith has doubts then they would be fact-based, but how, I don't know.
He kissed me and thanked me for his treat, I played with his awesome ass then he left just as Trish walked in.
"Good morning gorgeous, how are you today?" I greeted her with a hug.
"Good Adam, sorry I had something to do."
"That's fine Trish, as long as you're okay I won't worry, if you want the rest of the day off just let me know."
"I will, but it's all out now nothing else to do except move on."
I gave her a long hug and then I went to find another customer.
At lunchtime Kasey came back and we sat in the tea room, he said Luca sends his thanks and they will investigate the supermarket problem, maybe look at some tapes. He ate his salad roll and was looking at another croissant so I put some cheese on it and he was happy to eat it.
"Do you know if Evans moved out?'
"Yes Adam, I gave him a hand with the rest of his stuff this morning. Sadly it's all over, and funny enough he's not all that fussed about it."
"I see, so Trish wasn't there when he moved?"
"No she went for a long walk I think."
"Did he tell you why?"
"Yes he's moving closer to work and he knows the romance didn't get off the ground with Trish, they are good friends mostly. He told me to tell you not to worry they both will be ok."
I had my doubts I think Trish is taking this harder than she lets on.
"Now I have some reading to do and I will see you at three." He kissed me deeply and didn't let me go until Gloria arrived for lunch.
Another pat on the bum and he left with a big grin on his face.
"I liked your set earlier on Gloria."
"It's easy Adam."
"If you say so, but it was nice." She grinned and I left.
I grabbed another customer and settled in to do a new style.
He arrived back at three and I said my goodnights to everyone and invited Trish for dinner which she accepted.
Kase walked me up my alleyways and was trying to hold my hand but I kept pushing it away, then he started laughing.
It's a game he plays and I guess it tickles his fancy a bit.
Sam jumped up into his arms and leaned over to kiss me, then he started telling us about his day. He talked about his friends by name and insisted we knew them by sight, but we didn't. On and on he prattled away sitting on Kasey's shoulders, I only heard bits and pieces of it but I did hear he was going to tell Billy when he rings. I wanted to order in tonight so I made them wait for me while I looked at the specials board. They have shanks tonight so I will get them, and wings for Sam. Arriving at the lift there was no one around so I went up on my own. I could hear the giggles as I approached our door.
"Very funny guys."
"We left you, daddy." Sam laughed.
"Go watch tv son, you in the bedroom," I ordered Kasey.
When it was all over I made coffee and sat watching him sort through the paperwork, he was confused but I couldn't help him because I don't know that stuff, only detective work.
"Kase, Tim said something today I think you would be interested in."
He stared at me and I went on.
"He said Keith said something about the Malaysian case being futile and wasting your time."
"Did he?"
"Well, it was only in passing but he did say you won't find anything that makes any sense."
"I'm starting to think they gave me a lot of nothing, none of it makes sense, the hardest part is deciphering some words the translation is not very friendly."
"That would make it harder and a lot longer to read."
"It is already. I have to sit and think of a word they mean, not the translated one."
"You need to have it all copied into an edited document on the computer, then it will throw up all the bad words and give you alternatives."
"I was just about to ring your dad and ask him if I could borrow his office staff, they can type it all out."
"Then when they save them they can number them and when you read them you can renumber them in the right order. It will be a long painful process but better than doing it manually."
"And how did you know all this my Adam?"
"I did some computer studies at school, I didn't learn much but I remembered using word edit a lot." His shoulders slumped and he sat down taking his coffee in hand he replied.
"You are so good for me Adam, the way you explained that was awesome. I was trying to figure out how to do it easier but my brain wasn't engaged."
"Maybe that bump on your head has something to do with it. Kasey, have you ever done any computer studies?"
"A little Adam, just the bare minimum but that was all school and military stuff, I didn't use it that often. I know how to use a computer because I have had a laptop since fourth grade but I only did schoolwork on it and played games." He grinned.
"There's your answer, you didn't forget you just don't know how office edit works, all good."
"If it's all on the computer in a folder your computer should pick up the wrong words for you, Kase get it all typed out onto a memory stick then look it over."
He picked his phone up and rang dad, while he waited he kissed me.
"You can show me how it all works later."
I am glad I can help him in a small way, doing it this way he won't have stacks of paperwork on my table, win, win.
Trish arrived and I asked her if shanks would be okay for dinner, she said yes so I will order from downstairs. Sam was talking to Billy and he looked at me.
"Wings okay for you son?'
"Yes daddy, and some chippies."
"How was the business when I left?"
"Good Adam, I have the totals, Glorias are the biggest she certainly gets through a lot of clients."
"She very good Trish, but not as good as Marko."
"Well, I think she has a hot date tonight someone rang her today."
"Really? He took his time."
"She's upbeat and hopeful he's right up her alley she said."
"He is gorgeous."
"Yep, but still comes with three kids and an ex."
By this time Kasey had finished his call and sat with us.
"Who are we talking about?"
"Admiral Peters, he rang Gloria today for a date."
"Oh." He started shuffling his papers.
"Anyway three kids and an ex will put her off I think Adam, but he would be fine to hang with for a while."
"He hasn't."
"Hasn't what Kasey?" I asked.
"He's never been married, he's a player."
"Then why did you tell us that?"
"I told Trish that because he's not for her, maybe Gloria will be able to tame him but not you Trish."
"So you lied because of me?" Trish's face went red.
"Yes, he's not for you. As I said he's a player, you deserve better, even if the guy has two heads he would be better than the admiral."
"Don't you think that's my choice?'
"Just saving you a lot of heartache Trish, as I said he's a player there's a lot written about him on the net, he dates then uses then leaves."
"We had better warn Gloria then." She said and added.
"Thank you, Kasey."
"My pleasure Trish, don't worry I will find you someone that's nice." He laughed.
"How did you go with dad?" I changed the subject, Kasey has Trisha's love life organised so we will leave it to him.
"He said to drop it all off tomorrow morning and he will get the staff onto it."
"They will breeze through it Kase, hopefully, it will read a lot better when it's done."
The food arrived and I opened a wine, the shanks were delicious and we talked about the cabin and work while Kase had one eye on his paperwork.
Trish was laughing a lot tonight, she was in a good mood but a little bit lost without her man, so I told her to have a shower grab some magazines, and sleep in the spare room. She said she will sleep with Sammy, he's good to sleep with he doesn't snore. That got his attention and he wanted to know what time she was going to bed. I told him seeing he has a guest he might consider cleaning his room up. He didn't like that idea and went back to watching the news.
As it turned out she went to bed when he did and she read him a story then spent the next hour flicking through the magazines, she said in the morning it was the best night she has had for a long time.
I didn't have to offer breakfast she had it all in the oven ready to go in the morning.
"Sam will have fried eggs won't he?"
"Yes, baby thank you for this, saves me from cooking." She laughed.
"You're a good cook Adam, you just don't like to do it."
I agreed with her, sometimes take away is so much easier to do.
We showered and Trish got Sam ready for kindy, then she walked with me into work. She was telling me she will be ok and I was to give her some time to adjust to single life again. Thank god she wasn't fully in love with him I couldn't stand the drama again.
We bought buns today and as soon as we stepped through the door the smells were ours again although we both also love our own personal perfumes. The gang arrived and I ended up talking to Lynnie about her cold, she said she still has it, but it isn't infectious. She apologized I didn't accept it, because there was nothing to be sorry for we all get them.
When Gloria arrived I looked at Trish, we said our good mornings she looked okay, so I guess the big date went well.
She made a bun up and grabbed her coffee then sat with Eva Trish and me.
"Before you start with the questions, I would like to say something."
"Go ahead baby," I said.
"We had a great dinner, he's bloody gorgeous I couldn't take my eyes off him, I wanted to fuck him on the spot. He took my breath away and showed me a fabulous time. The wine was awesome, the meal delicious but the company, unfortunately, wasn't."
I put my surprised face on and stroked my neck.
"My friends I am sorry to say he's a player, not my type at all."
"That's disappointing Gloria, I thought you had scored yourself a babe," Eva said.
"No my friend, he's a player, it was his eagerness to know me better that brought him undone. That sort of conversation doesn't occur until the third date."
"Smart thinking kiddo,"
"Well I know my men and after I took him home and fucked his brains out I told him to lose my number." She started laughing.
"You what?" Trish barked.
"Just kidding, no saucy kisses or gropes Trish, he's a dud and I bet he will ask you for a date next time."
"If he thinks he's going to screw all my staff members he can think again, it's not happening." Trish groaned.
"What if he asks you, Adam?"
"What?"
"He said he likes the way you smell, clear indication he's also bi."
I started laughing at Trisha's face then she joined me.
I will leave everything in Kasey and Gloria's capable hands, if they had their way I would be put out to pasture not having experienced the admiral's lovemaking technique.
We laughed a lot in that tea room I had no worries with Gloria she was a great lady. I made coffee and sat at my station waiting for my next appointment, a lady I loved dearly and who makes the best biscuits in Brisbane.
"I am here Mr. Adam you can do what you want with me today." I heard her creep up behind me with a biscuit tin in hand.
"What no Marko today Zena?"
"No I am wanting to go back to my old style, my Luca is missing me."
"I see, so you want your usual without the bright color?" I laughed.
"Yes Adam, my Luca said last night he wants to get to know you a lot better, so I thought I might just beg you not to take him off me."
"There's no doubt he's a handsome man, and he would warm my bed every night while I messed with him. But he loves you my lady so I will bow out if I may."
"Thank you Adam he thinks he may sleep with you and then tempt you to go and work with him."
"Oh well if that's what he wants then count me out." I smiled.
I grabbed a biscuit before Marko and James took them all, they are delicious.
"Now Adam I seriously want to talk to you, is your man doing well?'
"Yes, he's fine Zena I don't see any grey areas, he's pretty much back to normal now."
"And you?'
"I am good, all the drama has left my life once again and I am happy to carry on as usual."
"That makes me happy Adam, I was worried you know."
"I know."
Then I apologized but once again I was told to not mention it.
"Adam, do you think some extra curls on top would suit me?"
"No." I dried her hair.
"Some waves then."
"No, you get the same hairstyle you have been having for years it suits you better."
"Thank you it's nice to get a compliment now and then."
"Your husband has that job, Zena."
"He is only interested in one thing, my body Adam, he thinks it's a playground just for him."
"Good."
"He's a big boy Adam."
"Stop it!"
"Stop what?"
"Trying to entice me to sleep with your husband."
"Sorry but I have my orders."
"Sit down and shut up, there's an order for you."
She smiled.
It was pure luck Kasey came in, he headed my way and kissed me deeply, I could hear Zena groan.
"Did Sam get off okay?"
"Yes baby, I'm on my way to the general's office and I want to drop in on Luca to see if he has any updates.
I winked at Kasey and said.
"Give Luca one for me baby, tell him I will be in later."
He looked at me strangely, then got it and grinned.
"I will Adam, he likes my ten inches, see you soon." He kissed me again and left.
"Mr. Adam can you hurry up, I haven't got all day to sit around." She was very eager to get out of the salon today, she even left her biscuit tin behind. I laughed and grabbed another lady who needed a good trim.
"Sorry, Adam I have left it too long again." I had Kasey's sister Maree today.
"Well it doesn't take too long to fix Maree, how have you been?'
"Good, just work and home that's my life and I don't want to change it at all." She's going to be a great mum when she has a baby I am blessed I have so many normal people in my life. Did I say normal, I meant characters.
Kasey came back to say hello to her, we had been sitting in the tea room just talking about him. He kissed me then her then he grabbed a bun and coffee.
"How did you go with Luca?" I giggled.
"She was quick we didn't even have our pants down."
"It was so funny Kase, but seriously how did you go?"
"You were right she wasn't in any of the supermarket's security footage, he's having her picked up now."
We worded Maree up on the case then Zena, she was laughing along with us when Trish popped her head in and asked if I could do a set. That was the end of our catch-up, but we will go up to their place on the weekend to see his mum and Chris, I like him also.
They didn't need a key for the cabin yet, they were still renovating their house and doing the gardens, which is what they love to do.
I won't see Kase for lunch today, he said he was going to read some more of his books, and he also said that dads staff will have something for him tomorrow. They will email the file or dad will drop it off.
I wanted to ask him if he had found anyone for Trish yet, but I shouldn't expect miracles from him although sometimes I think he can conger them up.
