Previously

Justin sat down on the bed beside Michael and just watched him for a while. His movements subsided when Justin sat down beside him.Justin gave him space, he didn't want to crowd him.Michael needed rest, not loving. Justin picked up Michael's novel off the nightstand. Well, might as well finish this.Only about 30 pages left. Justin started reading and in a short time he was finished the book. What a wonderful novel. It has so much for anyone to take into their hearts, Love, hope, inspiration, atonement. Justin realized that there was an author's note after the end. He proceeded to read the notes. when he came to the paragraph about the real Daniel, the tears swelled up in his eyes. The words took on a real meaning for Justin. Justin re-read them again:

" He was a tortured youth who had hardship, denial and suffering all his young life.

But through it all he keep a shining optimism about life.

His was the belief that hope can keep you going.

Hope can keep your dreams alive, even if ,finally, they remain unfullfilled.

Life charters us a course that we must take, our feet move on their own, our lives flow

forever forward on the river of time.

Daniel had one belief in life.

Life is for the living.

There is no point in going through life without opening your eyes to the living.

His life was short, but through it all he kept his eyes open, and his smile gave me

the faith to see that I too, was living life.

In some ways it sounded so much like Michael. A troubled youth,a hard life.Justin didn't know if Michael had unfullfilled dreams, but he hoped with all his heart that Michael had taken these words to heart. MIchael stirred in the bed beside Justin.Justin put the book down and relaxed back into the bed, sliding down till he was laying flat beside Michael. In a matter of moments,Michael rolled over and snuggled up against Justin's chest. Justin put his arm around him, and Michael sighed. This was what it was all about, this was what Justin had been seeking his whole life. He sighed himself, closing his eyes, feeling Michael's body against his, knowing he was safe.

Life was living, and Justin was going to make sure that Michael lived that life. Never give up on hope, my love. All your dreams can be fullfilled. Starting with you understanding that love is the greatest dream of all.

Chapter 8

Vicky quietly walked into the bedroom.Justin and Michael were asleep on the bed, their arms wrapped around each other,Michael resting his head on Justin's chest. Vicky thought they looked so right together.Justin looked like he was protecting Michael, Michael holding on to him as if he were a lifeline. Vicky leaned down gently and shook Justin lightly. He opened his eyes slowly, looking up into her smiling face. "Comfortable, are we?"Vicky chuckled. Justin looked down seeing where Michael was laying, feeling his arms around him and his body against him. "Yes,very."Justin smiled at Vicky. "Its after 3,and we're heading to the airport to pick up Nana.Is there anything you need before we go?" "No, I have everything I need right here."Justin replied, hugging Michael closer to him. Vicky smiled, seeing what Justin meant. She started to get up to go, and Justin caught her arm. Justin gently pushing Michael back onto his back, Michael stirring a little as if he knew Justin was getting up. He's already missing him, Vicky thought. Justin got out of the bed and walked over towards the door with Vicky. He looked into her eyes, a look of happiness on his face. "I wanted to thank you ,Vicky." Vicky could feel the love in Justin's eyes. "For what,Justin?" "For being there for Michael. For being his friend these past few years. You have been an anchor for him,he loves you so much, And so do I.I am so glad he had you to make him feel loved.Don't ever worry about how he feels about you, you'll aways be his friend, and I am so happy about that." Vicky could feel the tears forming in her eyes. "Yes Justin, he is my friend.I have always felt blessed for that.I have never met anyone with such a giving heart. There is something very special about Michael.I believe he has some very special gifts, I saw him use one of them recently. I hope he can trust you enough to open up all of that to you.Just give him time, Justin. He needs to know he can trust you.I think thats whats most important to him.Trust. He has to be able to trust you first, before he can ever think of opening up completely to you,Justin." Justin smiled at Vicky, tears forming in his eyes.He looked over at the sleeping form. "Your right Vicky, he is special, in so many ways. And I promise you I will win his trust.I want him be happy,to find that happiness with me.I already love him." Vicky hugged Justin, feeling that he was the one person who might just be able to make Michael happy. "I got to get going.Nana awaits."Vicky smiled at Justin. Justin's brow kind of lowered,as if he was thinking of something serious. "Do you think she will like me?I want her to,so much.I want her to feel that I am just what Michael needs. She's so important to him,I want her to like me." "She's a wonderful woman,Justin. When she sees how much you care for Michael, you will win her heart.Don't worry, she will love you." Justin smiled, Vicky giving him a final hug.She walked out of the room,Justin seeing Steve and Lonnie waving goodbye to him from the living room. Justin waved back and watched them go out the door. Justing turned back into the bedroom, walking quietly over to the bed. Michael had moved around a bit, his sweatpants were all bunched up , twisted around his legs. That looked really uncomfortable. Justin wanted Michael to be comfortable and relaxed.Justin sat down on the bed gently and tried to turn the material around to make it more comfortable.Michael started stirring, mumbling in his sleep. His pants were getting even more twisted. Justin decide he needed to get them off Michael. Justin lightly shook Michael's shoulder, he stirred very little. Wow, that shot must of really knocked him out. Guess I will have to do this myself. Justin lifted Michael up a little until his torso was elevated on the pillows.Michael mumbled a little but didn't move much. He then slowly undid the drawstrings on the top of Michael's sweatpants.Justin's fingers rubbed along Michael's stomach. His skin felt so smooth and warm, like a baby's, soft and gentle. Keep your head together Justin, this isn't fair to Michael. Justin thoughts were roaming. He wondered what it would feel like to have his body naked against his, feeling his smoothness against him.Justin was starting to blush, and he was starting to get aroused. But he didn't want this to go that way.He wasn't ready for that aspect of their relationship. He knew Michael was gay, he had probably experience those feelings.Justin felt naive and inexperienced. But he knew that he wanted Michael to be his first, and in his heart, his only. But that can wait, he has to be willing and he has to love me first. Justin gently pushed the pants down Michael's legs , pulling them off his feet in one quick gentle motion. Justin folded the pants neatly and place them on the ottoman at the foot of the bed. He turned back to Michael and gazed at his sleeping form. His body looked so beautiful.Blemish free, hairy, but just the right amount to accent his muscular chest and perfectly proportioned legs. Justin removed Michael's socks also. Justin's eyes followed over every inch of Michael's body, taking in every curve, shape and toned muscle. He was so perfect, well to Justin he was. Then Justin started to notice small things he had overlooked. Justin saw the scar on his right hand,it looked like a burn mark. There were also a couple of scars on his left thigh and on his left forearm. Justin also looked at the large bruised area on Michael's left side. Justin blamed himself for that, he should of been quicker, he should of sensed Michael's unsteadiness. He thanked god that Michael hadn't broken his ribs. Michael rolled over onto his side away from Justin. His full back was exposed to Justin. Justin took in a deep breath. At the base of Michael's torso, just above his ass was a long scar about six inches in length. It had been hidden before by Michael's briefs when they were in the shower earlier. What happened to Michael? How did he get that painful looking scar?It looked like he had been slashed or knifed. It looked like a deep cut. Justin's eyes began to water. Oh Michael, you must of been in so much pain from that.To think that his Michael had been hurt like that made Justin want to cry. Then something uncomfortable dawned on Justin. What if those marks had been done by someone? What if someone had hurt him intentionally? How did Michael get those marks? If someone had physically hurt him, Justin would make sure they paid for it. Justin could never understand how someone could hurt someone else on purpose. He had always believed in being a kind gentle person, so when he heard about abuse or torture it always confused him. Is this why Michael is so remote, so scared of trusting someone. Was he hurt that much by someone. Justin stared long at Michael, watching him sleep. His heart overflowed with tenderness for this beautiful man sleeping beside him. A yawn escaped Justin's mouth. He pulled the covers up over Michael. Then he crawled up the length of the bed and lay down beside Michael.Michael turned back onto his back, mumbling again.Justin thought he heard his name briefly. Justin closed his eyes, his thought on what he had seen. Was Michael a victim of abuse? Was he hurting that much inside?Justin needed to find answers.Maybe the woman coming here today could shed some light on those questions. Justin found himself needing to talk to Michael's grandmother. Michael's body shifted again, snuggling up against Justin, almost like he had sensed Justin's proximity. Justin smiled in his heart, knowing that Michael needed him close. They lay together.Justin lifted up a little ,pulling the covers over both of them. In a matter of moments Justin was asleep again, Michael laying against his chest, his head laying on top of his heart.

Helena Stavros looked out the airplane window at the passing clouds. She leaned back against her seat, her greying hair flowing down her shoulders. She was going to see her Mico again. It had been almost 3 months since he had been home. She missed her special angel. She missed his warmth and caring smile. He was more than her grandson, sometimes she thought of him as her child. She had been there for him since that fateful day when she found him again. She sometimes thought back to that day, when her life had changed. For the good ,she thought. She hadn't seen him for almost two years, but she hadn't been prepared for what she found that day. The moment she laid eyes on him that day ,she knew she would there for the long haul. She knew that she could never leave him. He was like a walking ghost, white, thin, quiet, and lost. His eyes looked so lost. His once smiling demeanor was gone.he looked totally alone, like everything he cared about was gone. Like he had no hope. It had taken her almost eight months to find him, several detectives and a posse of lawyers. Two weeks of legal wrangling, and finally getting legal custody of Michael. Helena thought back on those lost days. Her husband had been dead almost a year.Shortly after he died she had tried to find her daughter. She wanted to make peace, she was all she had left, her and her beautiful baby boy.Diana had walked away from her ten years before that, she had run away with an uneducated young man who captured her heart. Her parents had been crushed, they had had such hopes for her. She was well educated, an aspiring writer. She could have made so much with her life, but she tossed it all away for love. Helena could understand that, she had done the same. But her husband couldn't.He loved his daughter faithfully and he thought she had deserted him.He couldn't break down and give in to seeing her again. So Helena had to suffer. She only saw her a couple of times through that ten years. The last was when Mico had his accident and had lapsed into a coma. They had called her, needing money to pay his hospital bills.Helena had given Diana her own money, her husband hadn't known. Helena had spent four days with them, meeting her grandson for the first and only time.Until that fateful day. Until the day he had won her heart. How could she not love him, he needed love so much. He didn't talk at all about what had happened in those two years since she had seen him last. She had learned from the authorities how her daughter had died. How Michael had been found with her, in an incoherent state. They couldn't get him to talk. They had searched for relations with no success. So he had been put in a foster home. And Helena learned that Michael had received abuse in that home. Helena brought charges against the couple, eventually a conviction was obtained and they lost their foster children.Something good had come out of it,in the end. She had taken Michael home with her, back to her quiet loving home.He needed love, love that she thought she could give him. It had been a rough start, Michael had constant nightmares, long nights of holding him, when he'd let her.So many nights of terror for him. But through it all she never waivered in her love for him.He needed her.So she was there for him.And gradually Michael came to need her.He and Silas hit it off really well, also, spending a lot of time together. She felt he needed that, a mature figure to guide him. And Silas was a good man.Helena had gradually fallen in love with him.She could never agree to marry him,she felt she couldn't.She loved her husband, but she had grown to love Silas too. Silas never pushed her about that, he was content to just be there for her. And so the two of them became Michael's anchor. Through all the early years, through the teen age phase, and now finally here, a young successful man. But Helena knew that Michael was always haunted by something. She thought it had a lot to do with his mother, what had happened to her. She didn't press him.She knew he wouldn't talk about it.Mico was a free spirit, with a deep heart.A wounded heart. All his pain and suffering he held inside himself. That reminded her so much of her late husband. She wasn't surprised when Michael confessed to her that he was gay when he was fifteen. She had suspected, but it didn't change her feelings toward him.He was himself, the warm, loving, caring young man she loved. And always would. And now Michael was hurting again. Vicky had tried to downplay things, that Michael was ok,but Helena knew something wasn't right.Thats why she was on this plane. She felt he needed her.She always knew when she was needed. And nothing would stand in her way when her Mico needed her. The captain came on the speakers, informing everyone they would be landing in Chicago in about ten minutes. Helena closed her tired eyes. She had been having her own troubles lately, her health was sporatic at times. But that didn't matter.Michael was what mattered. She had to make sure he was alright. She only wished she could see him happy, see him find someone to make him feel loved. She smiled.Hope, Michael needed hope. Soon Mico, soon your Nana will be there to take care of you.

Vicky,Steve and Lonnie stood waiting in the lounge, Nana's flight was scheduled to land momentarily. The three of them had chatted on the ride to the airport. The main topic being Michael and Justin. All three of them agreed that they had seen something special happen. Two people who needed each other had opened their eyes, and maybe their hearts to each other. They knew that Michael needed Justin, someone to show him love. But Vicky had also said that in his own way ,Justin needed Michael even more. Justin needed someone to love him for himself, for the gleeful, kind young man he was.A kid at heart. Michael wasn't pretentious. Justin's fame didn't overwhelm him.Sure, he was shocked when he met him.Who wouldn't be. But Michael always had an independance,a calming nature, a maturity.Maybe it came from being a writer. And the way he had been viewing Justin was as an equal, not a star to be worshipped. Justin had surprised them last night. His mature handling of Michael's illness, he caring for him, for his needs. It was heart warming. Little sensitive Justin had grown up. Sure he had a stage persona, a flashy, sexy, charismatic ladies man.He had always been the outgoing one of the group. The star, the center of attention. But that wasn't the real Justin. Not too many people had seen that Justin. The kind, quiet, sensitive boy, who needed approval. And Vicky felt there was an even deeper Justin hiding underneath. Maybe Michael would learn who that person was. There was so much hope for the two of them.So much to learn together. They all smiled when Vicky said that. Yes, something special had happened.A new beginning for both of them. The address system announced Nana's plane had landed and would be de-boarding shortly. They patiently waited as people started filing out through the doors. Michael's grandmother spotted Vicky first and started waving.Vicky rushed up to her and pulled her into a hug. "It's so wonderful to see you again, Mrs.Stavros."Vicky smiling warmly at her. "Now child, I've told you before, its Nana."smiling back at her just as warmly. "This is my brother Steve, and this is Lonnie. He's a good friend." Steve and Lonnie both smiled and shook hands with her.She pulled both of them into hugs.Helena looked strangely at Lonnie. "Don't worry Nana, his bark is worse that his bite." Lonnie chuckled lightly. "If your ready,Nana, I will pick up your luggage and take you back to the hotel." "Hotel? Aren't I staying with Mico?" "Michael isn't at home."Nana tensed. "Oh lord he's in the hospital!" Michael had been right, she was getting upset that he wasn't here. "No,Nana, he's staying at the hotel.Lonnie's employer is letting Michael stay there in his suite. Its more quiet and restful for him, plus my parents are at our place." Helena let out a small sigh. Thank god he's not in the hospital, she thought. "Then lets get going, I need to make sure my baby's alright." She headed off towards baggage ,everyone following at a good speed.

They reached the hotel in about thirty minutes. On the way Vicky explained everything to Nana. All about what had happened to Michael, his accident, and basically everything that had taken place in the last twenty four hours. Vicky left out the part about Justin and Michael's budding relationship. She felt it was Michael's decision to tell her about that. Steve and Lonnie noted Vicky's quiet skirting of that issue. They both were thinking the same thoughts as Vicky. It was up to Michael how much Nana learned. They piled out of the limousine, and headed to the front desk.Vicky explained to Nana that Justin had booked her a room next door to his,so she could be close to Michael this evening. She needed to check in. It also gave Steve a chance to sneak ahead of them to make sure that Justin was presentable when Nana walked in.Vicky didn't think it would be appropriate for Nana to walk in on them in the position Vicky left them. "Thats very kind of him.He sounds like a wonderful young man.But my place is with Michael, until hes alright in my eyes." There was that directness that Vicky loved about this woman. She was focused on one thing, her Mico. Vicky always found that name cute. Mico. It was Nana's special name for Michael, no one else ever dared call him that. Special names.Vicky had picked up on something today.Something that had surprised her. Justin had already started developing a series of names for Michael. Mikey, for when he was being flirty with Michael, and when he was being romantic. Babe, he used when he was trying to get Michael to calm down or comfort him. And he called him Michael when he was serious about things. Justin probably didn't even realize he was doing it.Ah, to be in love.

Steve quietly walked into the suite using Lonnie's key.He walked into the bedroom finding Justin and Michael asleep in each other's arms.Man they looked so happy together, although Michael was murmuring a little, a serious frown on his face. Poor guy, I hope he shakes this illness soon. They need to spend some alone time together, when Michael was healthy. Steve bend down and shook Justin's shoulder.Justin's tired blue eyes looked up at him. "Hey handsome, where's you pick up the huge bed bug."Steve smiled, pointing down at Michael asleep on Justin's chest. "He's not a bed bug, he's my bed bud!"Justin smirked. "Well, you better pull your ass out of that dream bed, Nana is on her way up.You don't want her to meet you like this,do ya?" Justin gently rolled Michael over onto his back, he stirred some more,a smile changing his face again. "Jus? Whats going on?"Michael slurred slowly, trying to open his eyes. "Just go back to sleep, babe." Michael smiled a small smile and settled down again. "Man, he is so in tune with you.Even in a drug enduced sleep, he listens to you." Justin smiled at Steve. He was right.Justin felt that he was in tune with Michael too. Justin quickly got up,pulling his wife beater off and his sweatpants.Standing in only his boxers, he started pulling a shirt and slacks out of his closet. Steve stood back admiring Justin's physique. Yeah, Justin was a man now.He had a toned athletic body from constant dancing, excercise and gym time. No wonder the ladies admired him so much. And a lot of guys too. Steve was straight, his girlfriend was his life. But he could see where Justin could be loved by both men and women. Justin didn't seem to take much notice of himself in the mirror, he kept making quick glances towards the bed. Steve walked up to Justin, placing his hand on his shoulder. "You got to relax, chum.Nana doesn't know about you two yet.We thought it was best if Michael told her in his own good time. So you got to tone down the constant glances at Michael, those puppy dog eyes of yours are going to reveal too much." Steve started chuckling. He also picked up on Justin's nerves. He was nervous?Justin Timberlake.Mr.Smooth.Nervous about meeting a nice lady. Well, she was more than that. She was Michael's whole family. Yeah, Steve could see where the nerves were coming from.Everyone who has ever been in love has been in this spot. The first meeting of the family. Steve smiled. His heart went out to his friend. Justin finished dressing, turning to look at Steve. "How do I look?"He turned slowly for Steve. "Like a handsome young suitor, Justin.Ready to meet the in-laws?" Justin blushed a deep red. "My nerves are that obvious,Steve." Steve gave Justin a big hug. "Just be yourself, bud.Thats what matters most. She needs to see the real you." Justin smiled, took a deep breath, and headed out into the living room, taking one final look at Michael sleeping quietly in the large bed.

There was a knock on the suite door and Justin answered it hesitantly. What greeted Justin was a surprise. She wasn't what he expected. Before him stood an attractive mature woman, grey haired but still beautiful in a classic way.She was confident in the way she walked into the room. She had a commanding presence. As soon as she entered, Vicky made the introductions. "Justin , this is Helana Stavros, Michael's grandmother." "Nana, this is Justin Timberlake, he is one of Steve's and my best friends." Helena smiled, and gave Justin a big hug.Justin immediately relaxed, he felt comfortable with this woman. He's so nervous, thought Helena.I need to put him at ease. "Well Justin, I hear you've been taking excellent care of my Mico." "yes, its been no bother. He needed some help, I wanted to make sure he was alright."Justin smiled warmly at her. Mico? What an unusual spin on Michael's name, thought Justin.I like it. Vicky gave him a brief smile of encouragement. "He's sleeping at the moment, Mrs.Stavros, please relax and make yourself at home.Is there anything I can get you?"Justin was playing the part of good host. "Please Justin, call me Nana. And yes, there is something I need.My grandson.Where is he?" Justin smiled. She was direct and independant, just like Michael. "Let me take you to him." Justin took her arm in his and led her into the bedroom, carefully looking around to make sure everything was clean and presentable. As soon as Nana entered she walked directly over to the bed, sitting down beside Michael, putting her hand on his forehead. Justin stayed a respectable distance away from her, his eyes never leaving the tender scene in front of him. "My Mico ,my angel.Nana is here now child.Everything is going to be ok."She was looking at him with such love and compassion, Justin was overwhelmed.A tear was slowing moving down his cheek. She loves him, she loves him so much. I want that, I want that kind of love. She pulled down the blanket a bit ,checking Michaels bruise, inspecting his body, and finding everything was satisfactory, she tucked him back in and kissed his forehead gently. "Justin, Mico is my special angel. He is my reason for life.I live life to make him feel loved." Justin looked tenderly at her, she was looking at him directly. Justin didn't look away, he saw tenderness in her eyes, and he felt it was directed at him. "Thank you for taking care of Mico for me Justin." Justin smiled again. She could see the wetness of his eyes. "It was my pleasure.Michael deserves to be cared for." Nana smiled, looking back at Michael. "Well he's sleeping deeply, he should sleep for a while undisturbed. How about you make me a nice cup of tea." She quietly got up and Justin gave her his arm again. Such a gentleman,Helena thought. They walked back into the living room.Everyone getting up as she sat down. "I'll make you that tea now,Nana."Justin replied heading into the kitchen, Lonnie in tow. Vicky and Steve asked Nana about Michael's condition, she relaying her opinion. After a few minutes,Justin and Lonnie came back in , carrying two trays of snacks and tea and coffee. EVeryone helped themselves, Justin taking care of Nana's tea himself. He handed her a cup of tea, laced with honey, as she had asked for. She took a few sips and light conversation ensued. She kept looking over at Justin. He seemed to be more relaxed now,she liked him this way better. Then she secretly smirked a small smile. Time to rock his world. She sat her tea down gently and looked over at him. Justin smiled. "Is there something you need, Nana?" Yes Justin, I need to know why your in love with my grandson?"

End of Chapter 8

Well looks like you can't pull the wool over Nana's eyes. Lets hope Michael is ok.

Stay tuned, more to come.
