The first thing I did when I got into the house was to change into some sweats. The next thing I did was plop myself down on the sofa with my laptop. I'm gonna find out about these Backstreet Boys' if it takes all night.' I said to myself.

The next thing I knew, it was 4 A.M. and there was static on the TV I'd been so caught up in searches, and websites about the Backstreet Boys, that I'd totally blown a whole night that I could've been sleeping or doing some paperwork involving my job.

I shook my head and turned the laptop off. I got up and stretched, slowly making my way to the shower, I had to be at work in a few hours, so what was the use of going to sleep? I'd just wake up in 2 hours anyway.

Once in the bathroom, I stripped and turned on the shower. I turned and looked myself over in the bathroom mirror across from the shower. Even I had to admit that I wasn't bad looking. I had brown hair, brown eyes, nice body, and what some women would call `the most squeezeable butt in the world'. I got into the shower and thought about the guys that I had taken care of the day before. They were all cute, well, the four I'd met anyway, and they all seemed like pretty nice guys. Brian of course being the cutest. I couldn't get my mind off the smile he'd given me before he past out.

I shook my head and finished washing. After getting out I shaved, and took my contacts out and put new ones in. I'd worn glasses since 6th grade, but I had never looked right in them, I preferred my contacts because they didn't get in the way, I didn't lose them, and they were no trouble to put in.

Walking into my bedroom, I picked out my clothes and got dressed. Today feels just like yesterday.' I said to myself. It feels like it's going to be a good day.'

After getting dressed, I grabbed my car keys from the bed side table and started toward my car.

Halfway toward my car I was stopped.

"Oh, hey Dr. Ray!" said Tiffany, excitedly. I've never found out why she has had a crush on me.

"Hi Tiffany, I'm kinda busy, I need to get to the hospital." I said and tried to move pass her.

"I was just wondering, I heard that the Backstreet Boys' bus crashed yesterday. Do you know where they were taken?" Tiffany asked, shifting her legs so that her hip stuck out.

I was no fool, especially after my Backstreet 101 last night. "Nope, I don't know Tiffany, sorry, I'd love to help you, but, I don't know." I said shrugging and continuing to my car. Opening the driver's side door, I started to get in when I was stopped again.

"What are you doing tonight, Dr. Ray? I thought maybe we could get together and talk medicane." Tiffany said, leaning on my door so I couldn't close it.

"I'm sorry," I said with a fake frown. "I have a date tonight, maybe tomorrow." I pulled on my door as a hint that I wanted to leave. She didn't get the hint.

"Damn, well, that's to bad, maybe some other time." Tiffany said and finally backed off.

I closed the door and started the engine. Backing out of the driveway I turned on the radio to the most recent music I could find. It wasn't hard, cause the first thing I turned to was the Backstreet Boys. I snorted, they sure are popular' I said to myself and drove toward the hospital.

Once at the hospital I parked and headed toward the elevator. I was stopped again. `Seems everybody wants to talk to me today,' I said to myself as Kayla came up beside me.

"So, what happened to you last night? I was worried." Kayla said and hit the up button on the elevator.

"I was tired, I went home," I said and walked into the elevator.

"I tried calling, but the line was busy, all night long." Kayla said, not buying my `sleepy' story.

"I took it off the hook so I could get some sleep." I said and hit the 5 on the elevator panel.

"That guy from the band, AJ, I think, is doing better, had surgery last night for internal bleeding." Kayla said and walked off the elevator at the 5th floor.

"That's good, I'll tell the others later. I need to go get Nick, and make rounds." I said and went to the nurse's station to pick up my list for the day.

"Nick? New boyfriend?" Kayla asked.

"Nope, hardly," I said with a laugh. "He's part of that band, and I gave him the sleep room last night to get some rest."

"Oh, drats, you need another boyfriend." Kayla said and walked off to start with her rounds.

A smile came to my lips and a picture of Brian popped into my head. Softly, I began singing, "Get another boyfriend." I had to laugh at the irony of it all.

I walked to Timmy's room, and knocked quickly as I entered. "So, Timmy, ready to go home?" I asked. I signed his release form and wished his family luck and told Timmy to stay healthy.

I left Timmy's room and went into Lily's room. I knocked again and walked in. Her mother greeted me with a smile.

I sat on the edge of Lily's bed. "So what's this I hear about a birthday party?" I asked.

"It's gonna be great Dr. Chad! You wanna come? There's gonna be cake and ice cream and games and lots of stuff!" Lily exclaimed.

I laughed. "I heard that I was invited, is that right?"

"Yup! I want you to come and meet all my friends!" Lily said and bounced on the bed.

I quickly checked her vitals and signed a release form for her, too. "Well, I know it's on Saturday, and I'll come, okay? I wanna meet all your friends." I said and poked her in between her eyes. She giggled and pushed my finger away.

"Okay, Dr. Ray, see you Saturday." Lily said and went back to trying to fix a puzzle on the movable tray set up for eating.

I smiled as I got off the bed and left her room, I went to the end of the hall and opened the door quietly. I walked in and turned on the light. Walking over the bed that Nick occupied, I shook him gently and said "Wakey, Wakey".

Slowly he woke up and sat up. He shook his head, as if forgetting where he was and then put the pieces together.

"We are gonna go check on your friends now, that alright with you?" I asked Nick. I only got a nod in return. Nick got up and followed me out of the sleep room. We walked to the elevator and I pushed the button. I looked at Nick.

"Something wrong Nick? You don't look so good." I said and put my hand to his forehead.

"Just not a morning person, I guess." Nick said and pulled away from my hand.

I smiled and pulled him onto the elevator. Going down the third floor, where patients were held for a quick release, I got off the elevator pulling Nick with me to the nurses' station.

"Hey Leslie," I said to the nurse in charge of the 3rd floor.

"Hey Chad, how's your morning been?"

"Fine, just need to check on a few patients today, I've been worried about them." I said with a smile. I bent over the nurses' station to pick up the list of patients and felt someone grab my ass. I stood back up and looked at Nick. He looked back shocked and then looked down the hall. I saw the backside of Kaye, the head of OR walking away. I laughed and yelled "Next time, maybe."

Kaye turned and slapped her own ass and laughed. I laughed along with her and bent back over to pick up the list of patients on the 3rd floor. Standing back up straight, I said a thanks to Leslie and looked over the lsit. I turned to Nick again and found him snoozing on the wall. I shook him and then pulled him toward Kevin's room.

I knocked and then entered, pulling a sleepy Nick with me.

"Morning, Kevin, how are you this morning?" I asked and checked the notes Will had wrote on the clipboard at the foot of the bed.

"I'm fine, except for the brace on my left leg." Kevin said and looked at Nick curiously. "What happened to him?"

"Nothing, he's just tired." I said and replaced the clipboard. "I'm gonna go see the others, be back in a while." I said as I walked toward the door.

"Tell me how they are, later." Kevin shouted behind me as I left. I went to check on Howie next. He was asleep so I didn't want to bother him. I quickly looked at his chart and replaced it.

Closing the door behind me, I made a note of who was in each room. I checked on AJ next. He was awake, and on oxygen. He looked at me questioningly and tried to talk.

"Stop, don't talk, it will ruin your voice, don't worry, I'm only here to report on your friends. Kevin's fine, Howie's asleep, Nick's asleep in Kevin's room, and I'm going to check on Brian after I'm through here." I said and picked up his chart. It looked like he would be in some trouble later on, but nothing deadly. I saw him try and get my attention and I looked up. He pointed toward the chart and I got his message.

"You'll be here for a few days. You lost a lot of blood in the crash, because of internal bleeding. I wouldn't recommend smoking or drinking much when you get out. It will just cause more irritation to the area you are hurting at, which should be your lower stomach, am I right?" I asked.

AJ nodded and then pointed to the chart again. I laughed.

"It also says that you will have pains for a while and that you probably won't dance for a while.

AJ nodded again and waved at me, telling me to leave. I laughed and left. Walking down the hall passed Kevin's room, I headed toward Brian's room. For some reason, I began to get nervous. I knocked and entered quietly. He was awake, and watching TV. When he saw me enter, he shut off the TV and smiled at me. `A smile like that could met snow,' I thought and picked up his chart.

"How are you this morning, Brian?" I asked and looked over his chart.

"Fine, aches and pains, but fine, what's the chart say?" Brian asked.

I grinned at him and laughed, "A few bumps and buises, will mend soon without scars." I didn't read the rest of the note left for me that said that Brian was cute and that Donny thought I should ask him out, but Brian didn't need to know that.

"Sit, talk," Brian said as he patted the side of his bed.

I sat down on the edge of his bed and looked at him. "You're looking better than you did yesterday." I stated the obvious.

"I feel better than yesterday, `cause yesterday was hell." Brian said and scooted into a more comfortable sitting position.

"Yeah, I bet. Kevin's fine, Howie's asleep, Nick's asleep, and AJ's getting better," I said, "Just to give you a check up on your friends."

"Thanks, no one has told me anything, it's like they look at me stupidly and say with their eyes, `You're on a need to know basis, and right now, you don't need to know.'" Brian imitated.

I laughed and touched his hand, "That's just the way it is, you just can't change the codes of medicane." I said. I saw the look in his eyes and tried to pull my hand away, only to find out I couldn't pull it away, Brian had a tight grip on it.

"So, tell me about yourself Dr. Ray," Brian said.

"Well, my name's Chad, I'm a pediatric doctor, I love kids," I said

"What about family?" Brian asked, rubbing his thumb across my hand.

"Umm, parents live in Florida, along with my grandparents. My mom is a pre-school teacher and my dad is a college professor of chemistry." I said.

"Siblings?" Brian asked.

"I have a brother, but I don't see him much anymore, we decided it was best if we were on two different continents because of the trouble we cause when we are together, so he lives in England. I have a sister, a little sister, who I don't see much either, she lives in Florida with the rest of my family. I took off as soon as school was over and got a job here," I said and scooted unknowingly closer to Brian.

"Why don't you see your brother? What kind of damage could you do together?" Brian asked, curious.

"Well, he's really wild, and I usually calm him down, but the only way he agrees to calm down is if I do something with him... the last time that happened, we burned down the local grocery store in our town." I said laughing.

"Burnt it down?" Brian asked with his eyes wide.

"Yeah, then he spent the night in jail, and I got a good talking to, because I didn't do much wrong as a kid." I said. "And what about you Brian? What were you like as a kid?"

"Well, I was a good little boy, I guess. I never got into that much trouble." Brian said, resting our joined hands on his thigh. "Then fate chased and I got a call from my cousin, asking me to join a crazy idea that has changed my life forever."

"Well told, Brian. Now get back to the facts." I said sarcastically.

"I had heart troubles when I was 5, that was one reason why I never got into much trouble, I was in the hospital. But later on, it didn't bother me, and I joined basketball teams and everything all my friends joined. And in high school I did get a call from Kevin."

"Okay, that's more like it." I said. I looked into his eyes and got lost in their depth. I shook my head and came out of my trance, "Well, Brian, I have to go report all this to Kevin, and then I have to continue my rounds." I reluctantly pulled my hand out of his grasp and stood up.

"Come back and see me later?" Brian asked.

"Of course, maybe if your lucky I'll bring you back dinner." I said with a smile and ran my hand through his short hair.

"Bring me some macaroni and cheese, please." Brian said.

"With extra cheese on top." I smiled and ran my hand down the side of his face.

I smiled again and left quietly, almost skipping down the hall. I wasn't looking where I was going when I ran into Donny.

"Hey Donny, what's up?" I asked.

"Great, so, you read Brian's chart?" Donny asked with a grin on his face.

"Yes, I read it, and I'm going back later." I said and continued to Kevin's room.

I walked in and found that they had moved Howie into Kevin's room. "Hey guys, what's up?" I asked. "I'm taking requests for dinner, Brian wants Mac and Cheese, anything else?"

"I'll have a steak," Kevin said thinking that I wouldn't bring it.

"How would you like it done?" I asked taking orders.

"Medium well," Kevin said.

"Okay, AJ will want a Big Mac, I already know, but he can't eat it, so there is no use. What about you Nick?" I asked

"Pizza would be good." Nick said.

"Howie?" I asked.

"Tacos," Howie said.

After taking orders, I left on my mission to get the items requested. It was around 3:30 so I had time to get the food and be back in time for dinner.

I sighed, this was nothing like any other day, it was more...and I couldn't help thinking that it was only going to get better.
