Chapter 10

~Alex

I'd been standing at the airport for almost an hour. Finally I decided to get a taxi.

`If Chad didn't come get me he must be at the hospital.' I figured and got a taxi to take me to St. Mary's.

From past experience I knew where his office was and on what floor.

Walking through the hospital entrance doors I went to the elevator and waited. I got up to the 5th floor and put my stuff in Chad office. On the way back to the elevator a lady came up to me.

"Chad, what the hell are you doing up here? There was another wreck, you're needed downstairs again."

"Right, you lead." I said, she didn't know I wasn't Chad so, why not play along.

We went to the elevator and she looked at me funny.

"When did you get an accent?" She asked.

"Accent? You have the accent, not me, I've always had this." I said and stepped into the elevator and then off at the bottom floor.

Their hospital was set up much like mine. The lady grabbed some scrubs and some protective goggles and gloves and pushed me into line at the emergency door.

The man across from me looked at me oddly. "Chad I told you to take a break, you've been here since 5 this morning."

"I'm fine," I said and grabbed the bed as it rolled in the door. The tech's gave the stats and I listened carefully, following the nurses as they made room for the patient in one of the ER rooms.

We had been working on this particular guy around 5 minutes and I left, seeing everything was under control and went into the next room. It was like an episode of ER, the nurse put new protective gear on as I entered the room.

I walked over to the table and asked the doctor what I could do.

"Nothing Alex, it's..." He stopped and looked up. "Alex?!?"

"Chad, hi, weren't you supposed to pick me up at the airport?"

"Oh, damn, I knew I forgot something."

"Yeah, well, thanks." I said sarcastically and someone came to relieve us.

We both took off our scrubs and threw them away.

"Have a good flight?" Chad asked me.

"Yeah, I did, long, but good."

"I'd be scared to fly seeing as what happened in NY a couple of days ago."

"Well, didn't stop me. We didn't hit any buildings. I seem to be in one piece."

There was a pause. Then we reached out and hugged each other.

"I missed you." I heard Chad whisper in my ear as we hugged.

"Me too," I replied.

The lady came up to us.

"Chad, I need to talk to you," she said.

"Not now, I'm busy." Chad said and put his head on my shoulder.

"Chad..." she said.

"I rank above you Kayla, shut up."

So Kayla was her name.

"Chad Ray, how dare you." She said.

"Oh shut up," I said and pulled away from the hug.

Kayla gasped.

"We can't even get 5 minutes of quality time together and we get bugged." I complained. "I came here to see my brother, and from the looks of it, you all wore him ragged. He is now off duty, and off call. Don't bother calling him for at least a day." I said and pulled him to the elevator.

"Alex I'm so sorry I didn't pick you up, things got hectic here..." Chad tried to explain.

"It's okay, I know the business, it's understandable. I was a little disappointed though." I said. We got off at his floor and went to his office where we grabbed my bags and went back down stairs.

He led me to his car and he drove us to his house.

"It's been a while since I've been here, nothing's changed though." I said and looked around at what I could see through the darkening light from the sky.

"Yeah," Chad said and turned the engine off as he pulled into the garage. "There's a young girl who is utterly obsessed with me. She will be outside the car when I get out. How about we scare her?"

I smiled, "I love your thinking."

"You bring out the worst in me, what can I say." Chad said and grinned evilly.

Chad stepped out of the car and sure enough, there was girl waiting for him.

"Hey Dr. Ray, how are you tonight?" she asked.

I got out of the car. She turned around, but couldn't see me in the light.

"Fine," I answered for Chad.

"Fine," Chad answered at the same time I did.

The girl looked back and forth. "What's going on?" she asked.

"Nothing," we said.

"Tiffany, I need to get inside." Chad said and reached beyond Tiffany and pulled me away.

"But Chad," I whined. "I wanted to have some fun with her."

Tiffany looked scared all of a sudden.

"I need to go, I'll talk to you later Dr. Ray." Tiffany said and left.

We walked in the back door laughing.

"Chad? Is that you?" I heard someone ask.

"Is that Brian?" I asked after hearing the voice.

"Yeah, it is." Chad answered to both questions.

I heard feet down the hall and I pushed Chad into the closet and closed the door.

"Hey," I heard Brian say as he came into the kitchen.

I pulled Brian into a hug, "How's it going?"

"Fine, and you?"

"I'm good," I said.

Brian pulled out of the hug. "So, where's Chad?"

"How did you?..." I started.

"You smell different than him, you talk different than him, you hug different from him, you look different from him. It wasn't hard to figure it out." Brian said.

I smirked, "Well, that's rude." I walked over to the closet and pulled open the door. Chad sat in there reading the Windex bottle.

"Come on," I said and pulled him up. "My plan didn't work, he recognized me, he's a keeper."

~ Chad

I didn't know exactly what was going to happen. I remember Alex pushing me into the closet, obviously he was going to test Brian. It had happened before, with Timothy, and he didn't pass, so Alex didn't agree with the relationship.

I started reading the cleaning supplies, leaning up against the shelves.

Then the door pulled open and Alex stood with Brian smiling in the background.

"My plan did not work, he recognized me, he's a keeper." Was all Alex said.

I came out of the closet and walked over to Brian. "Hey honey, how's it goin'?

Brian hugged me.

Alex inturupted us. "So what's for dinner? I am going to put this stuff in one of the bedrooms, and I will be back in a few minutes.

After Alex left, the kitchen was silent.

"Sorry I didn't tell you Bri, I forgot to pick him up and he showed up at the hospital." I said quietly.

"That's okay," Brain said. "It wasn't hard to tell the difference between you two."

"Really? Most people can't tell us apart." I said, looking at Brian in wonder.

"Well, you're sexier, you're hair is longer, you are slightly smaller than him, you smell much better, you don't have an accent, you're eyes just light up when you see me, you have this cute little smile on your face, like you always have a secret. But besides all that, you look alike." Brain explained and put his arms around my waist.

"Well is that so?" I asked and played with the hair on his forehead.

"Yeah it is, I saw him and remember talking to him on the phone." Brain said and pulled me closer.

"Well, remind me to do something special for you `cause you are only the 3rd person outside the family who can tell the difference." I said softly in his ear.

I felt Brain smile. "I'll start making a list." He said.

I pulled back slightly and looked in his eyes. I'd only seen a look like that once before, when I looked at Timothy. I blocked out those memories and lowered my lips onto his.

Brian seemed shocked at first, but realized what was going on and relaxed in my arms. I parted his lips with my tongue and slipped it in between lips and into his mouth. Somewhere around 5... minutes... hours... I heard someone cough behind Brian and came out of our make out session and gulped. The only thing on my mind was pushing Brian on the floor and giving way to all that was sane. My hands stayed at Brian' hips and looked over his shoulder. Nick and Alex stood there with grins on their faces.

"I ordered a pizza, and some cokes, hope you don't mind." Alex said.

"Nah," I said and smiled. "I don't mind at all.

That's it, finally, I put up the next chapter. Thank you to all who waited, patiently I might add, for me to have free time to write, comments always welcomed, and loved... Tootles
