This is a work of mostly fiction. Some characters and events are real, and some aren't. All rights are protected and the story cannot be reproduced without permission. Come on, you wouldn't want to steal something as crappy as this would you?

I am but a boy. And yet, they say boys have power over some. Almost constantly I feel alone, it is during these times I seek refuge in other worlds. Space, kingdoms, massive cities, the future, the past, any game or story I can get my hands on.

Some call me different. Some people accept me and some don't. Some use their words to slash and some to heal. There are many I love and a few I hate. I live with my mom and my brother, and I swear I couldn't feel more oppressed. But, one day it all changed. Into my darkness came a beautiful shining light. His name is David. This is our story.

It was just another September day. I was still clinging to the shattered remains of an online "relationship" that ended a year ago. See, I'm the kind of guy who goes into a relationship expecting it to last forever, and then I end up getting my heart ripped out. That being said, I have never had a boyfriend, in real life. It had been a year since me and Jared broke up, and I still hurt. I had had a few small online "boyfriends", Zane and Greg, but none of them really felt like or made me better about Jared.

I sat there in school. Staring at the clock, oh ring you bloody thing, sitting in third period biology, waiting for lunch.

"Jack, focus dork," Brad whispered. "Your gonna cut off a finger." We were cutting out paper for a lab demonstration. Brad moved here about a year ago. Brad is super tall. About six and a half feet, curly brown hair. We're both into video games. Last November we waited in line at Wal-Mart together for twelve hours, just to get Wiis. The bell finally rang.

I grabbed my bag and zoomed out the door into the blazing North Carolina sun.

"OOF!!!" I grunted as I land on my back, glasses flying. I looked up at a dark silhouette against the bring sunlight shining in the top of building three. In my rush to get out, I ran in to someone. A guy? He reached down to help me up.

"Whoa, you ok dude?" the figure asked. I grabbed his hand and got up. Hmm, he looked taller than me, not by much. I'm five foot nine, he must have been around five eleven? As he came into focus I noticed he had scraggly dark hair.

"Yeah, just a scratch" I smiled. I looked down at my elbow. Oh my god it was more than I scratch. I went white at the sight of my own blood.

"You sure you're ok?" he asked me. I winced in pain, and that apparently was answer enough. "Come on...guy." He grabbed my glasses off the ground and motioned me to fallow as he walked towards the nurses office.

"Oh, sorry. I'm Jack. I'll be ok. I'm a sophomore, I know my way to the nurse's office,"

"I'm Dave. I'm a junior, so I have seniority, so, let's go Jack." My rescuer insisted. My eyes met his. For a second, my brown eyes were locked into his almost glowing hazel eyes. I followed. I walked behind him and I noticed his shirt. Na...nano-mugen fest 2005. Wait a sec...

"Cool shirt! Did you really go to the Nano-Mugen?!" The Nano-Mugen fest is this big rock festival held in Japan every year, hosted by one of my favorite bands.

"Sweet! You actually know about that? I didn't think anyone else at this school liked real music. No, I didn't go, can't afford the tickets to Japan, I just got the shirt online" he grinned at me.

We arrived at the nurse's office. I waited in line behind all the other misfortunate kids trying to get out of class. Dave stayed with me the whole time. When it was finally my turn she got be a band-aid, cleaned my elbow, and wasted my lunch period. Dave sat there and we talked about the Japanese music scene. He loved ELLEGARDEN, a j-punk band. The nurse stared at us.

"Are you two brothers?" she asked

"Huh?" Dave gasped. "No ma'am, I just met this guy. Why?"

"Oh, nothing, just, could have fooled me. You're free to go Jack"

"Oh, yeah, thanks. See you...soon? Jeez, I hope I don't end up here again" I clumsily said. Dave giggled and left the office. I followed. "So, what class do you have next? Algebra II for me" I asked.

"Well, some sophomore had to go and throw himself at me, then make me go to the nurses office with him, so in essence I just skipped my third period, so I guess I shouldn't skip my fourth also, which is chemistry" he smiled at me.

"Oh no! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make you miss class; I thought you had lunch too!"

Dave giggled at me. "It's cool, J. I made you go to the nurse, so you missed lunch. We're even. Oh, hey, who do you have for Algebra II?"

"Uhm...Mrs. Dew. Why?" I asked

"Oh, just wondering. I hated her. Did you have to do that lame graph project yet? I'm lucky I passed that class. I suck at math" Dave had this really cool grin on his face that didn't seem to go away.

"Oh my god, me too. All the math teachers like to get together and see who gave me the lowest grade. No lies" I smirked

Dave opened his mouth to talk, when suddenly the bell rang. Students rushed all around us as he mouthed "See ya around"

He walked one way and I walked the other.
