The rest of the summer, Patrick, Mark, Jett, and Tyler along with the brothers who were available to help out led weekly trips down the river with disadvantaged or LGBTQ2 young people from the city.

Tyler returned to the police force in September. He was transferred to traffic services along with Adam. The traffic services position allowed both of the men to work with youth groups as well as indigenous groups. The first part of the first meeting with an indigenous group had been a little tense until both Adam and Tyler donned their peacemaker chokers and then brought out their eagle feathers. Although it didn't solve the problems being discussed, it did create a bond of cooperation between them.

By the end of the summer, Jett was drafted into the NHL. Before he accepted, his dad asked him, "Are you sure this is what you want to do? Do what your heart and spirit lead you to do." Their relationship had only strengthened since that weekend at the cabin. Jett was grateful to have his father back, and his father was grateful to have a second chance, not only with Jett but his other sons as well.

Conner is doing well in the ambulance service, especially as his partner is Marci. Troy is working as a field trainer, so he is on shift working with a partner and a trainee who is completing their schooling practicum. Depending upon the trainee's level, it's anywhere from four weeks to six months of supervising the trainee.

Trevor and Nikita are still working at the centre and enjoying their life together.

Tyler and Troy did bring Luke and Logan to live with them at the village. They are doing well at school and have begun to learn about the family's gifts. Both will be completing their vision quest in the late summer with the rest of the new family members. Tyler and Troy have become parents very easily and are enjoying the new challenges.

Colt has been rapidly assimilating the ancient knowledge and enjoying spending time with his grandfather in the middle world. The badger is definitely keeping Colt on his toes, but he's also keeping his human well grounded. He has met a man who is just like the prediction which had been made of his potential future husband. The relationship has been difficult in many ways, but they always seem to sort things out. Right now Colt's boyfriend is away playing hockey for the season but gets home on a regular basis.

Zane continues to run the drop-in centre successfully. Jesse has a light schedule at times as a provincial court judge. That allows him to be more active in the McAdam Construction side of the business. He's been spending time visiting the various projects to talk with both the clients and the employees. He always shows up during dinner or supper hour with a ton of free food for the workers. They sit and talk with Jesse doing a lot of listening which has resulted in some changes in the way things were being done. He quickly gained the reputation of being a very honest and fair man who liked to do the right thing but don't ever try to con or mislead him if they liked their job.

Carter and Clifford have become very serious in their relationship and have moved into one of the houses in the village. Cliff has reorganized the structure of the company as well as the responsibilities. He has added an expectation that 10% of work time for executives is to be in the field with their clients and employees. They are learning the operations of their departments from the lowest seniority person up to the top. Carter has become even worse than Liam at pranks on the brothers. Carter is also considering retiring from the police to move over to McAdam construction to be in charge of Risk Management. The potential paycheck is a real draw, but he would like to keep helping young victims of abuse.

Jared and Liam returned to work at the ambulance to everyone's relief. Jared continued in his role as the training officer with the support of Liam. The biggest change was that his role was 95% in the field, responding to calls. Melanie had Ryan moved into the administrative side of the training department to look after everything Jared hated, paperwork.

Liam is still by the side of his husband and closely monitoring their time at work and the cabin. He makes sure his husband has the time to regain strength and heal when necessary. After he had completed a medical physical exam, Melanie had created a document issued by a fake doctor from the hospital which identified Liam as having an increased sensitivity to milk, milk products, and cream cheeses. Because of the possibility for anaphylaxis, Liam was ordered to stop the intake of all dairy products. She let it go on for a week, ensuring a constant supply of cheesecakes were in the staff coffee room at the base the entire time. Liam hadn't slept well for the entire week causing Jared to step in to end it before his husband had a nervous breakdown. Liam has sworn vengeance.

The military, police, and any law enforcement group, as well as uniforms, are still banned from the Pride Parades, including the LGBTQ2 members. No one seems to notice the absence anymore (or care) and most of the social justice warriors are still creating more friction than real contributions to any resolutions. Many of the people in uniform have found it easier to continue or return to the denial of their sexuality so they will be included in the regular activities of the enforcement community. Maybe someday it will be resolved, but none of them are holding their breaths in anticipation as the community they were rejected from uses their tax dollars to celebrate their Pride without them.

Shadow is still at the village, coming and going everywhere at his convenience. He has now removed the ass from everyone's jeans at least once but has also managed to get the ass out of a few pairs of Liam's jeans. The big wolf brought two kittens home one night. Both were dirty, hungry, starving, and in rough shape. They survived and are growing stronger every day. Liam keeps wondering how they had lost their tails at such a young age which has caused a lot of laughter from Patrick and Shadow. Max is a frequent companion with the kittens, teaching them the way of the hunter. Shadow also brought two wolf pups home one night, again they were in rough shape. Both survived and are now learning from their new dad how to tear the ass out of jeans or chew Liam's shoes to pieces.

The young men continue on their paths in life, to the best of their ability, as a close-knit family of brothers. That's all Nimanitôm, the Great Spirit, the Ancient One, Chad Running Squirrel ever wanted of them.

"The rules I gave to mankind are reasonably simple to follow.

Remain close to the Great Spirit, in all that you do.

Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect.

Show great respect for your fellow beings.

Work together for the benefit of all Mankind.

Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.

Do what you know to be right, but do not to fall into self-righteousness.

Look after the well-being of mind and body.

Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.

Be truthful and honest at all times, but especially be truthful and honest with yourself.

Take full responsibility for your actions."

The End of Jared the Paramedic III: Redemption

This story has been amazing to write. When I started it, I had no clue that it would end up as three volumes over 4 years. I also had no clue that the story would impact people in the way it has. If something I've said in this story has helped or made a difference, I consider it an honour to have been able to do that. Most of the time, I felt as if I was just the person doing the typing and the story was being given to me to share. It appears the story has come to end, but I hope people continue to read it into the future.

Thank you to Aquenon my editor and my friend since the middle of the first volume.

It was Storylover and Daryl the Radio Rancher who convinced me that I was actually writing something which was worth reading. I didn't believe them at first. Actually, depending upon the day of the week, I still don't believe them. 😉

If anyone reading this wishes to watch a profound film which challenges the way in which we think of history and religion watch 'The Man from Earth', 2007. Don't waste your time on the sequel.

Just like an hourglass where the sands on the bottom continue to grow as the ones on the top diminish, I grow older. Now I just need to figure out what to do next with the time remaining.

I wish and pray for everyone to be blessed with their health, with undiminishable hope, happiness in everything done and unconditional love in their lives. Peace be with you all.
