The guys and Dale's and Charley's Moms got to Dr. Mom's house with all ten children and no mishaps. The children slept a fair bit of the way, and when they were awake, Dale and Charley kept them smiling and giggling. They did stop for lunch so the babies could be fed their formula and have their diapers changed. They found a Shoney's restaurant and took the children inside with them as the adults ordered lunch. Every employee and every customer in the restaurant had to stop and see the babies. When they found out who the guys are, they got excited at meeting the families that were so famous across the country. The brothers and Moms got a kick out of the people's excitement at meeting them.

When they arrived at Dr. Mom's house, the first thing they did was change all the diapers. The Dr. Mom and the other grandmothers started spoiling the babies rotten. After Dr. Mom got home, Becky, Angie, and Carol arrived at the house to meet Charley's and Dale's Mom and the children. A surprise guest came into the house a few minutes later and had a very emotional reunion with the guys. The guest was Laurie, whom the brothers had not seen since Mark's death. When a gentleman came in behind her, she introduced him to Jaiden, Peyton, Dale, and Charley as her boyfriend, Rodger. The guys became overly emotional as tears flooded from their eyes. They hugged Laurie and Roger as they all cried together.

Jaiden and Peyton, especially, had prayed she would get somebody in her life who would love her and wouldn't cheat on her. They talked about college and how things were going for the brothers, and how the medical practice was going for Jaiden and Peyton as Physician's Assistants. When Jaiden asked Laurie how she and Rodger met. Laurie said, "There was a dark-haired, stubborn Jewish lady who was the matchmaker." Jaiden looked at his Mom, who was smiling from ear to ear.

When Peyton asked Rodger what his profession was, he told the guys he was an orthopedic surgeon. Jaiden walked to the French doors in the den and stepped out onto the patio. Laurie could tell something was up with him, so she walked outside and asked Jaiden if he was OK. He looked at her with tears in his eyes and told Laurie he was OK. It was just the fact that Hashem had answered every prayer he had davened on her behalf. Laurie teared up and embraced Jaiden for several minutes until they both calmed down and were able to walk back inside the den. That is when Rodger stood up and embraced Jaiden, a simple gesture of love that was totally unexpected.

Rodger looked at Jaiden and the brothers and said, "Guys, I know everything about everything that occurred. Jaiden, your Mom introduced me to Laurie, and I fell head over heels in love with her the first time I saw her. I simply couldn't let her live her life alone, and I couldn't let the hurt she had felt to keep affecting her. If you guys and Dr. Mom hadn't helped Laurie the way you did, I might never have met her, so thank you." Jaiden had his elbow on the arm of the couch and his hand across his mouth. He couldn't say a word. If he did at the moment, he would totally lose his composure -- and so would Peyton and their brothers.

There was yet another surprise for the guys when the doorbell rang. Jaiden went to answer the door, and there stood Tony. He had brought enough Italian food to feed an army regiment. He and the guys had a Tony-huddle. Tony said, "enough, I want to meet my nephews and my niece." He walked down to the den where the babies were and was amazed at how much they resembled their Dads. Tony asked if he could have some pictures of the Dads and their children made standing by the new van's side for the new restaurant murals. He told the brothers that Pete and Rabbi Rob were sending him a picture of Jason and David, and the photographer would photoshop their pictures in with the photos of the babies. The new mural would be added to every current restaurant and placed on each new Tony's entry wall that opened in the near future. The Dads said that it would be awesome to do that while they were in Abingdon. Tony called his photographer, and the photo session is set for Monday morning, so it will still be cool outside.

Since the families arrived on Friday evening, they would be taking the babies to Jaiden's home synagogue the next morning.

All the diapers were changed after the babies were fed and burped, and their grandmothers bathed them before they fell asleep and were put in portable cribs Dr. Mom had purchased and put up in their Dad's bedrooms downstairs. When the babies went to bed, all the adults moved downstairs to have a cup of Dale's coffee and sit on the deck and talk.

Charley, Dale, Peyton, and Jaiden spent several hours talking to Rodger and Laurie. They were beside themselves that Laurie finally had someone in her life that was faithful to her and loved her beyond measure. Mom excused herself to go upstairs to relax and read the newest journals that had come in. Rodger and Laurie excused themselves and went home about thirty minutes after Dr. Mom had gone upstairs. Moms Anderson, Jacobs, and Riley went upstairs to go to bed since they were tired from the drive down.

Dale looked at Jaiden and said, "Jaiden, you have to be exhausted after driving the entire way to your Mom's." Jaiden replied, "Actually, Dale, I'm not tired at all. That van is very comfortable and easy to drive; it was like riding in the Navigator's to me." Charley said he wasn't tired either and suggested they all go out on the patio and drink another cup of coffee and shoot the bull. So, that is what they did. Peyton cuddled up to Jaiden, and Charley cuddled up to Dale. They were enjoying the first night of their break to the max.

The guys said they were glad the ladies from the office had come to the house. Since they did, they wouldn't take the babies by the office and expose them to any germs that might make them sick.

Suddenly Jaiden stood up and said, "Guys, do you smell the musky scent in the air?" They said they did, and Jaiden said everybody is smelling bears in the area and that it might be a good idea to go inside and lock the doors, and that is what they did. Jaiden let his Mom know there were bears were in the area, and then he got the shotguns out of the closet and put some shells in them in case the bears tried to get into the basement den. The second shotgun went in Dale's bedroom. As an extra security measure to protect the children, Charley and Peyton locked the closet doors.

Saturday morning, the brothers arose at the usual six am and changed all the wet diapers. Peyton and Jaiden heard Dale gagging, and they couldn't help laughing heartily. One of the children had a dirty diaper, and Dale was the Dad fortunate enough to change that diaper. Dale was gagging so severely that even Charley was laughing. Once the babies were changed, they were bathed off with a soft, warm washcloth while Dale and Peyton were upstairs getting their bottles ready.

The grandmothers got up early to help feed and burp the children. They all intended to spend as much time together with the babies as possible. As they were feeding the babies, the Dads were getting dressed to go to the nine-thirty synagogue service. After the babies' feedings and second diaper changes, their Dads dressed them for their first visit to Jaiden's home synagogue.

As expected, the first person to approach the children was Mrs. Schwartz. Surprisingly, she didn't pinch their cheeks, but she did kiss each child on the forehead and then say, "How nice, ten future doctors." Then she turned and walked off.

Rabbi Eichmann asked the Dads to bring the children into the temple with them. They did. As the service started, the Rabbi addressed the congregation to tell them the babies were there with their Dads and grandmothers this morning. When the services were over, the Dads rolled the babies outside, where every member of the temple came by to see and meet the children. Jaiden said afterward that he didn't think he had ever received so many hugs.

Jaiden and the guys noticed that instead of getting in their cars and going home to have lunch, all of the members headed into the fellowship hall. The Rabbi asked that they do likewise. When they got inside the fellowship hall, they saw a beautifully decorated Chuppah. Everybody was seated, music started playing, when the bride and groom entered the room and went to stand on the Chuppah. It was Rodger and Laurie. For once, Dr. Mom had kept a secret hidden from her boys. When the brothers saw Laurie and Rodger ascend the steps to the Chuppah, tears flowed from their eyes. They could not have been more pleasantly surprised.

After the wedding was completed, Dr. Mom took everyone to the country club for lunch. While there, Laurie walked over to the guys with an elderly couple they did not know. Laurie said, "Jaiden, Peyton, Dale, Charley, you have not yet met these wonderful people; I'd like for you to meet Mark's parents. All the guys stood up and gave Mark's parents a hug, said how nice it was to meet them, and thanked them for their love and support of Laurie. They talked with Mark's parents before they totally broke down as Mark's parents thanked them for what they tried to do to help Mark. Jaiden was able to squeak out a "you're welcome." Peyton and the brothers were so emotional they couldn't say a word.

After dinner, everyone went to Dr. Mom's house, and Dale made several pots of coffee for everyone as they sat on the patio and talked for several hours. The babies slept the entire time the adults were talking outside. The week and a half the guys intended to stay in Abingdon went by quickly. Thursday morning, they headed back to Erie. Mom Riley and Mom Jacobs would fly home Saturday afternoon. Mom Anderson would stay in Erie for another 8 weeks before returning to Pensacola.

When the brothers got back to Erie, Jaiden and Peyton checked in with Dr. Brannen and the hospital. Jaiden would make hospital rounds on Monday morning and Peyton on Monday evening.

Monday morning, Jaiden was checking patients on the surgical floor. As he was walking down the hospital hall, he heard a parent unleashing a hellish argument with their child, who was a patient. The controversy centered on the fact that the child had come out as gay, and the parent acted like the two preachers had in the restaurant incident. When Jaiden got to the room's door, he knocked on the door, went inside the room, and closed the door behind him.

As soon as he closed the door to the patient's room, he looked at the parent and asked, "What was the purpose of the argument you just started? The parent made the mistake of saying it was none of Jaiden's business. That is when Jaiden let that mother know he was a Physician's Assistant employed by the hospital to provide health care to patients. Part of his responsibility was to ensure an environment that made recovery possible, and starting a vehement argument with her child was not conducive to his recovery. He was not going to allow the fight to continue. He turned to the teenager lying in bed and asked what precipitated the argument.

The young teen looked at Jaiden and said he was in the hospital because his father had beaten the hell out of him when he came out as gay on the day he entered the hospital. Jaiden asked if the police had talked to him and was told that the parents wouldn't let him call the police and that they had told the nurses in the emergency room that he had been jumped by a group of boys in a local park. He told Jaiden that was not true. Jaiden looked at the parent and could tell she was getting furious with her son and was about to explode. He was so angry the veins in his neck had become very pronounced.

With the boy's mother looking on, he picked up the phone and called for police officers in the hospital to come to the room stat. When the announcement was made, two police officers ran into the room within minutes. Jaiden looked at the patient and told him to tell the police what he had told him.

The teen related to the police exactly what he had told Jaiden, that he had come out as gay, and his father beat the hell out of him. The officers noted massive bruising of the teens face, that he had two breaks in one arm and six broken ribs. Jaiden told the officers about the argument he heard and witnessed before he stepped into the room and stopped it. The teen told the policemen that the fight had happened, and that was when Jaiden intervened.

The police officers called for Child Abuse Detectives to come to the hospital. After the detectives arrived, the officers gave them a preliminary report, after which they began their own investigation. During their questioning of the teen, one of the officers stepped into the hallway and called for a Department of Family and Children's Services agent to come to the hospital to take custody of the teen. Based on a code the detective had given to him, the officer also called for a unit to go to the boy's home and place his father under arrest for child abuse, assault of a minor, and felony battery. The boy's Dad was in custody within 30 minutes.

When police dispatch notified the detective the father was in custody, they asked the boy's mother to step into the hallway. When she did, she was placed under arrest for child cruelty, child neglect for failing to protect her son, and abandonment for failing to call the police after her child had been beaten so severely by her husband.

The DFCS agent had arrived and immediately took steps to place the child into the agency's custody. The parent's insurance would pay for the child's injuries, and he would be put into foster care. His parents would not be allowed to visit him or to have any say in further treatment of the boy.

Jaiden was told the preliminary hearing would be held at nine am the next morning. The police officer told him the hearing would be in Judge Stanislauski's Courtroom and asked Jaiden if he was familiar with the Judge and where his Courtroom was located. Jaiden smiled from ear to ear and simply replied, "Yes."

When the mother had been carted off to jail, Jaiden sat down and talked to the teen whose name was Jeremy. He told the boy that what happened to him would never happen again. He explained to the teen that he was created the way he is, that being gay is not a choice. He then told the child about him and Peyton and how both their families had accepted and loved them, and that is what he wanted to make happen for the boy. When he completed his conversation, he gave the teen a soft pat on the arm and said he would see him later that afternoon before going home and that Peyton would check on him around seven pm.

As Jaiden was walking out the door, Jeremy asked him if he could ask a question. Jaiden said, "sure," and walked back to the bedside. "Mr. Jaiden, I noticed you had a big smile when the officer said the hearing tomorrow would be in Judge Stanislauski's Courtroom. Why did you smile like that? "Jeremy, I am very familiar with Judge Stanislauski, and I know what his reaction is going to be when he sees pictures of your injuries. I can promise you he will make sure you are taken care of until you attend and complete college and get set up in your career. Thinking about college, what are your grades like at school?

"Mr. Jaiden, I have always been a straight-A student." "Interesting. I will talk to the Judge about that and see what we can do for you. I may be able to arrange for you to go to college on a full-ride scholarship." "Mr. Jaiden, please don't joke with me about that." "Jeremy, I am not joking about that; I may be able to make that a reality for you. My uncle is Dean of Men, and my aunt, his wife, is Director of Housing at Wellstone University, where Peyton and I and our brothers attended college." "WOW. Mr. Jaiden, I don't know how I could ever repay you if you can make that happen." "Jeremy, I have already been rewarded by God for helping people that way. Besides, seeing you happy for a change will be my repayment."

The rest of the day was uneventful for Jaiden, and when Peyton came in a six to do a chart review, Jaiden told him about Jeremy. Peyton stood up and said, "Let's go to his room now!" When they got to Jeremy's room, Jaiden introduced Peyton. Peyton talked to the teen for a few minutes, examined him well, and they sat and talked to him for at least thirty minutes. He told Jeremy he would see him again around nine pm and told him to watch some television and relax.

When he got back to the conference room with Jaiden, he got so angry every vein in his head bulged. He told Jaiden he would like nothing more than to tie in with that boy's Dad. If Jaiden thought Rostenkowski got his butt kicked, it would be nothing like what Peyton would do to Jeremy's Dad.

Peyton and Jaiden completed their chart reviews, and Peyton asked Jaiden to call Don when he got home and fill him in on the case. Jaiden said he would call Don as soon as he got home and spent some time with the boys. They came first.

When the boys had been fed, and their diapers were changed, they were put In their rockers until they went to sleep. After Jaiden got his sons in their beds, he called Don and filled him in on Jeremy's case that was to be in his Courtroom in the morning. When he had told the Judge everything, Don exploded in anger and told Jaiden, "I'll get that son-of-bitch in the morning. Don't tell anybody we talked.

Ginny and Granny arrived at the house promptly at 7:30, and Jaiden let them know about the case yesterday and told them he had to be in Court at 9 am. Ginny was furious at how Jeremy's Dad and mother had abused him, and Granny said she would like five minutes with the mother. Jaiden told them Peyton had asked for five minutes with Jeremy's father. Ginny said, "Jaiden, Peyton would make him wish he was dead." Granny asked, "Martha, what do you mean by that?" "Geraldine, you know how meek and mild-mannered Peyton seems?" "Yes, Martha, I do." "Well, that mild-mannered, meek young man is a nationally known, ranked, and recognized martial arts expert. He was the one who disarmed and then beat the crap out of the robber at the beach a few weeks back." "Martha, that young man?" "Yes, mam, that young man was Peyton." Jaiden was laughing hard as he walked out the door and headed to Court.

When Jaiden got to Judge Stanislauski's Courtroom, he was asked to go to the Judge's chambers for a few minutes. When Don saw him, he looked at Jaiden and asked if he brought pictures of Jeremy's injuries with him. Jaiden told Don that not only had he brought pictures, he had copies of the x-rays he could show and explain in Court. Don said, "Good! Let's get that bastard and his bitch. I'll give you some time to get in the Courtroom, and then I will come in. Jeremy's parents will be the first case on the docket so you can get to the hospital and make your rounds."

Jaiden got to the Courtroom and seated himself. The detective and officers acknowledged his presence. Don came into the Courtroom and told the clerk to call the first case.

The Court calls the cases of State of Pennsylvania versus Anthony Bronowski and Gerry Bronowski.

Judge: Deputies, please bring the defendants before the bench.

Judge: Mr. Bronowski, Mrs. Bronowski, you each stand before the Court having been charged with one

count each of Felony Battery of a Minor, Aggravated Assault of a Minor, and Failure to Protect a

Minor. Felony Battery of a Minor carries a sentence of 20 to 40 years; Aggravated Assault of a

Little carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years; and Failure to Protect a Minor carries a penalty of 5

to 15 years. You may enter a guilty or not guilty plea in this case. If you enter a plea of not

guilty, you will have either a bench trial where the Court hears the facts of your case and renders

a verdict if applicable, or you may choose to have a trial by a jury of your peers. If you are found

guilty by a jury of your peers, the Court will then sentence you accordingly.

You need to understand that if you enter a guilty plea to the offense you have been

charged with, you will give up your right to appeal. On advice of your attorney, you may elect to

testify in your defense or avail yourselves of your fifth amendment right to remain silent and not

testify. Mr. Bronowski, do you understand your rights as they have been explained by the Court?

Mrs. Bronowski?

Mr. Bronowski: yes, I do.

Mrs. Bronowski: I do.

Court: Madam Public Defender, have you explained your client's constitutional rights to them?

Public Defender: I have, Your Honor.

Court: Madam Public Defender, in your professional opinion, do you believe your clients understand

those rights?

Public Defender: They do, Your Honor.

Court: Mr. Bronowski, how do you plead in the cases before the Court?

Mr. Bronowski: I plead guilty.

Court: Mrs. Bronowski, how do you plead in the cases before the Court?

Mrs. Bronowski: I plead guilty.

Court: Will the State's Attorney, please outline the facts of the cases before the Court?

State's Attorney: Your Honor, on or about June 15, 2020, the son of the Defendants came out to his

parents as being gay. Mr. Bronowski became enraged and beat his son severely,

causing massive bruising to his son's face, broke his left arm in two places and broke

six of the 16-year-olds ribs. Mrs. Bronowski was present and did absolutely nothing to

protect her son. She did call an ambulance and their son was admitted to the hospital

where surgery was performed to repair his arm and his ribs.

Court: Does the State's Attorney have anyone from the hospital to testify as to the injuries of the minor

child?

State's Attorney: The State does, Your Honor. Mr. Jaiden Riley-Reynolds, a Physician's Assistant at the

hospital is present.

Court: Mr. Riley-Reynolds, it is good to see you again. Can you add anything that the State's Attorney

had not mentioned regarding the minor child's condition or treatment.

Jaiden Riley-Reynolds: Your Honor, I was making rounds at the hospital when I heard a violent argument occurring between the minor and Mrs. Bronowski. I stepped into the room and stopped the fight, after which I asked the minor what happened to him. He related he had come out as gay to his parents, and, in his words, he said when he came out as gay,his father beat the hell out of him, causing the injuries we are treating at the hospital. At that point, his mother was becoming enraged. I asked if police had been notified, and the minor said no and related his parents had lied to emergency room personnel telling them their child had been jumped by a group of boys. Your Honor, I have photographs and x-rays of the minor child's injuries.

Court: Madam Clerk, would you please hand the Court the pictures Mr. Riley-Reynolds has in his

possession?

**Clerk hands the Court the requested photographs.

Court: Damn. Mr. Riley-Reynolds, did you take these photographs.

Mr. Riley-Reynolds: I did, and the Police Department did, Your Honor.

Public Defender: Your Honor, we object to Mr. Riley-Reynolds testifying as to what the minor child told

him. The child is not present to verify his words.

State's Attorney: Your Honor, we anticipated the Public Defender's objection to Mr. Riley-Reynolds'

testimony, so Mr. Riley-Reynolds made arrangements to have a computer placed in

the minor's hospital room, and he is standing by to testify via Skype if the Court so

desires.

Court: Son, have you been listening from your hospital room to what has been said in Court this

Morning?

Minor Child: Yes, sir, I have.

Court: Is what Mr. Riley-Reynolds said correct?

Minor Child: Yes, sir, very correct.

Court: Objection overruled.

Court: What is the State's recommendation in these cases?

State's Attorney: Your Honor, the State recommends that the Court sentence the Defendants as the

Court deems appropriate.

Court: Mr. Bronowski, Mrs. Bronowski, it is the sentence of the Court that on the offense of Felony

Battery of a Child, it is the order of the Court that you each be sentenced to 40 years in the

Pennsylvania State Prison System, consecutive to all other sentences; On the offense of

Aggravated Assault of a Minor, it is the sentence of the Court that you each be sentenced to

serve 20 years in the Pennsylvania State Prison System, consecutive to all other sentences; and

that on the offense of Felony Failure of a Parent to Protect a Minor Child that you each be

sentenced to serve 15 years in the Pennsylvania Prison System, consecutive to all previous

sentences.

Mr. Bronowski, Mrs. Bronowski, the Court wishes it was possible to sentence you to life without

Parole, but it can't. It is well known that persons incarcerated in the prison system for

abusing a child are not well received by the other inmates. Please watch your backs for

the next 75 years should you live that long. The pictures the Court has reviewed are

atrocious, and it is doubtful your son will ever mentally get over the injuries inflicted

upon him. As a further condition of your sentence, if you are granted Parole at any time

within the next 75 years, you are to make full restitution to the insurance company for

any funds they expend on your son's behalf. That is the sentence of the Court.

Court: The Court will take a 45-minute recess. Deputies, do not allow anyone waiting to plead or be

sentenced leave the Courtroom.

Jaiden anticipated the Judge would want to speak to him after Court, especially given the 45-minute recess, so he walked to the Judge's chambers. As he entered the chambers, the Judge's secretary smiled and told him to go on back.

As he walked into the Judge's office, Don said, "Jaiden, I have been on the bench for a long time, and that is the worst case of child abuse I have ever seen. Thank you for what you have done on Jeremy's behalf. Have you heard anything from the university on the scholarship?"

Jaiden said, "Judge Jeremy, got the full-ride scholarship I asked for. Peyton and I will take him down to Wellstone at the beginning of the next semester. He will get my and Peyton's old room, which they have been giving out by lottery. Seems the Director of Housing made an immediate decision; I wonder why?"

Don said, "so do I. Between you and me, DFCS will place Jeremy in Jay's custody until you and Peyton can take him to Wellstone. He will be well taken care of. "Thanks, Don. Do you think you and Jay could visit him this afternoon or tonight and let him know what is happening and that he has been accepted at Wellstone. I can meet you in his room at 6 pm?"

"Jaiden, Jay, and I will see you and Jeremy at the hospital at six this evening. Then maybe we can get some chow at the hospital before you go home."

"See you and Jay at six."

At six, Jaiden was in Jeremy's room when Don and Jay walked in. When they closed the door behind them, Jaiden introduced the Judge and Jay to Jeremy. Jeremy looked at them and then at Jaiden as he smiled from ear-to-ear. Then he smiled. He knew what Jaiden had done for him.

The Judge looked at Jeremy and told him he couldn't say anything to anybody about who was assuming his custody. When Don told him he was accepted at Wellstone on a full-ride scholarship at the beginning of the next semester. Jeremy started to cry as he asked Don what he would do about high school. Jaiden told him his college studies would count toward his high school graduation. That is when Jeremy really cried.

Jay teared up as he sat and held Jeremy's hand and let him get his emotions out. Even Don had tears rolling from his eyes.

Don and Jay hugged Jaiden and said, "thank you so much for what you have done for Jeremy. We will make sure he is healthy and happy from here out. Jaiden gave Jeremy a kiss on the forehead and told him Peyton would see him in about an hour or two. Don and Jay stayed with Jeremy for the rest of the evening. When they left, Jeremy would have round-the-clock police protection until he was released from the hospital. Don and Jay now had the son they always wanted; and that son was thrilled and proud.

When Jaiden and Peyton did their chart reviews, Peyton kissed Jaiden and, with a twinkle in his eye, said they would celebrate when Peyton got home. Jaiden said, "Damn, Babe, couldn't you wait until you got home to kiss me. Peyton laughed very hard at Jaiden's comment.
