G. A. Patrick
Right at 5 p.m., there was a knock on the door. The Gray family arrived as they said they would and Jason was excited about his tutoring session with Peyton. Peyton had set up the breakfast nook as the study room. Peyton discovered Jason's class was studying addition and subtraction of fractions so he gave Jason a worksheet and some paper and had him solve the fractions on paper so he could see what was in Jason's mind. He very quickly found that Jason had a mental block on solving fractions; the question was why?
Jason told Peyton that his teacher was always calling him dumb, stupid, and lazy when he would ask her a question and he had become scared of her. Peyton told Pete to immediately find out what time math was taught in the classroom. Pete went to the Principal Monday morning after Jason had gone to class. He explained to the Principal what Jason had relayed to Peyton and him. A request was made to listen to what was said in the room by either standing outside the door and listening over the room's intercom system. Luckily the intercom system was one that did not alert the teacher with a red light when someone was listening in. As the time got near for the math portion of class to start, the Principal cut the intercom on to listen to the teacher teach math. The audio was being recorded for evidence if the need became necessary. Within the first 5 minutes of the math class, the teacher had called Jason lazy and dumb. A few moments later when he still couldn't grasp what the teacher was teaching, incorrectly at that, she called him stupid. That is when the Principal called Ms. Hawkins on the intercom and told her he had someone to watch the class and as soon as she got to her room that he wanted to see her immediately in his office.
When Ms. Hawkins entered the Principal's office, he told her to close the door and have a seat. "Ms. Hawkins, this is Attorney Pete Gray, Jason's father. He and I listened to the start of your math lesson and we listened to you being glaringly unprofessional and extremely unethical. Within the first 15 minutes, you called Jason dumb, lazy, and stupid. It is in your contract and it was covered at the beginning of the school year that such behavior would not be tolerated. Since you have violated your contract and since you blatantly disregarded my instructions, I had to call the Superintendent." Mr. Gray, if you would, please step into the hallway in front of the office until I can have you come back in.
Pete excused himself and went to the hallway.
The principal began: "Ms. Hawkins, effective immediately, you are suspended from teaching without pay until the full board can address your classroom behavior. Ms. Troutman will escort you to your room to retrieve your belongings and then immediately leave this campus. I am very sorry it has come to this, but you brought this action on yourself. The principal picked up his phone and asked his secretary, Mrs. Troutman, to come to his office." As Mrs. Troutman entered the office, Mr. Sims asked her to escort Ms. Hawkins to her classroom to retrieve her personal items and said that Ms. Hawkins was not to say anything to any student or mention what was occurring.
As Mrs. Troutman was escorting Ms. Hawkins to retrieve her belongings, Mr. Sims called Pete Gray back into his office. "Mr. Gray, I am extremely shocked and dismayed by what has been happening to your son. Please accept my apologies on behalf of the entire school system." Pete replied, "I accept your apology and I thank you for the quick action you have taken on behalf of Jason."
"Mr. Gray, I cannot tell you what has happened because of privacy laws, but I won't tell you not to look out that window for the next 15 minutes or so." Pete looked out the window for about 10 minutes when he saw Ms. Hawkins loading her things into her car and then leaving the campus. A broad smile came across his face and Mr. Sims looked at him and said, "I hope you enjoyed seeing your son's problem walk out the door." "Yes, Sir, Mr. Sims, It is like a heavy weight has been lifted off my chest."
"Tell me, Mr. Gray, how did you find out this was going on?" "Mr. Sims, we had a young man agree to tutor our son on Saturday afternoons. Saturday, he gave Jason some worksheets and he observed Jason struggling with the work and immediately asked Jason what was going on in his classroom and Jason told him. Peyton immediately came to me and Allison and told us what was going on and he advised us to do what I have done this morning."
"Mr. Gray, is this tutor someone you have known for a long time?" "No, Mr. Sims, I have only known him for about a week." He lives next door to my Rabbi. He, Jaiden, Dale, and Charley are members of my synagogue." "Are you saying he is `THE' Peyton Riley-Anderson who has been in the papers and on television news for the past year?" "Yes, Sir, the one and only." "I would love to meet those young men!"
"Excuse me for a moment, there is one last thing I almost forgot to do. Mr. Troutman, this is Mr. Sims, would you please send Jason Gray to my office?" "Yes, Sir, he is on his way." A minute or so later there was a faint knock on Mr. Sims' door. "Come on in, Jason." With that said, Mr. Sims got up and walked around his desk and sat on the floor with his legs crossed. "Jason, sit on the floor here with me." Jason sat on the floor and crossed his legs as Mr. Sims did.
"Jason, I want to tell you how sorry I am that Ms. Hawkins treated you the way she did in math class. She was not supposed to act like that and because she did, she will not be teaching at this school anymore. We are going to hire a substitute teacher until a permanent teacher can be hired. Since you have had a hard time in math class, I want to allow you to decide if you want to stay in your class and give the new teacher a chance or, if there is another teacher you like who teaches your grade level, you can choose to transfer to her class."
Jason thought a moment and then said, "Mr. Sims, it would be very rude of me to not give the new teacher a chance. My Mom and Dad have taught me not to be rude to an adult, or anyone else, and I won't disappoint my parents by being rude to any adult." "OK, Jason, you can go back to class with a smile on your face." Jason got up with Mr. Sims, gave him a `Jason hug' and said, "Thank you for helping me, Mr. Sims, I love you!" Jason was smiling from ear to ear as he walked back to class. Mr. Sims...his eyes had swollen a bit and turned red.
"Mr. Gray, please tell me, where did you get such a loving, polite boy as your son? I have never had any student act so respectfully much less say `I love you' as they left my office, I will never forget that, never. Excuse me for the way I am about to say what I have to say: I'll be damned if I am going to hire just anybody with a math degree to teach his math class. I just won't do it. When I am about to hire someone, I would like for you to question her like a lawyer would if she was on the witness stand and then get with me afterward and tell me what you think." That's a deal, Mr. Sims. Perhaps it would be nice if Peyton talked with the teaching prospect." "I couldn't agree more, Mr. Gray, we shall ask Peyton about doing that for us." "Have a better afternoon, Mr. Sims." "You too, Mr. Gray."
Mr. Sims, they started medical school today, so let me check with Peyton and see if it would be ok for you to go with me and Allison to their house so you can meet them. I'll call and let you know tomorrow. We go at 5 p.m. on Saturday after they have finished services and classes for Dale and Charley." That would be great Mr. Gray, thank you." "You are welcome, Sir. I will call you tomorrow."
About 7 p.m., Pete called Peyton to tell him that he was dead on target about Jason's problem and that he had watched the teacher take all her personal items to her car and leave the campus. He told Peyton that he and Mr. Sims had listened to the first ten minutes of Ms. Hawkins' class and heard her call Jason dumb, lazy, and stupid. He immediately removed her from the classroom and made her leave the campus. "That is great news, Pete, now we can get Jason on the way to recovery. Dale is very good at helping people restore their confidence in themselves, so let me see if he can fit in an hour or so one afternoon." "OK, Peyton, thank you so much for what you have already done. Maybe we can get together one evening and Allison and I can treat you guys to dinner at the Country Club." "That would be awesome, Pete, since we are members of the Country Club and haven't had a chance to visit the club since we got here." "Great, you four young men check your schedules and let me know when you can fit in a day." "We sure will, Pete. Tell Allison I said hello."
"Allison, Peyton was spot on about Jason's math problem being at school. Mr. Sims and I listened over the intercom for about 15 minutes and we heard Ms. Hawkins call Jason lazy, Dumb, and Stupid." "Pete, thank you for taking care of the problem, I hope they don't leave her in the classroom." "Not going to happen, Mr. Sims told me that since it was a personnel matter, he couldn't tell me what had transpired between him and the superintendent and then told me that he couldn't tell me not to look out the office window – for about 10 or 15 minutes. So, I followed the inference and looked out the window. About 10 minutes later I saw Mrs. Hawkins putting her things in her car and then leave the campus. It took all of 20 minutes to have her off the campus"
Then he called Jason into his office and apologized for how he was mistreated by Mrs. Hawkins and gave him the options of staying in the class or changing to another classroom. You would be so proud to have heard what Jason told Mr. Sims, "Mr. Sims, it would be very rude of me to not give the new teacher a chance, that we taught him to always be respectful to everybody and he wasn't going to disappoint us by being rude to anybody. I was so proud of Jason!" "I can tell, Pete, by the tears in your eyes."
Mr. Sims asked where did find such a loving, respectful son, that he'd never had a student say `I love you' as the student left his office. I didn't get to answer that question, but I will when I see him again.
I called Peyton and filled him in on everything that had occurred. He said he was glad Ms. Hawkins was out of the classroom, but he hates to see someone lose their job; even so, the student always comes first. I told him Mr. Sims wanted to meet him and his three `brothers' and asked if it was ok if he came Saturday evening with Jason to meet you. Peyton said that was fine, but he didn't know if Dale and Charley would be there. The visit with Mr. Sims is on.
Jaiden came into the den and Peyton told him what had occurred with Jason's teacher. Jaiden said "homerun!" And with a sly grin, he asked Peyton if he wanted to celebrate. Peyton looked at Jaiden and said, "I don't know, what do you have in mind?" Jaiden started unbuttoning his shirt and before he could finish Peyton was undressed and lying on the bed. Jaiden came hopping through the bedroom trying to get his jeans off. Peyton died laughing. Jaiden finally got his pants and briefs off and with his flag pole at full mast, he jumped in bed with Peyton. Game on.
They made out as if they had just met; sweat pouring everywhere, French kisses, and heavy petting. Peyton went down and sent Jaiden to the moon with the most exquisite BJ ever. Jaiden was edged over and over for almost an hour before Peyton gave him his release. It looked like Jaiden had a snowy lake in the middle of his stomach. He pushed Peyton on his back and began to send him to Mars making him squirm every way he could. Peyton lasted maybe 30 minutes when he had a bone-shaking orgasm. Jaiden moved up and lovingly embraced Peyton then asked him, "Did you enjoy that my love? " "You bet, Jaiden. We've got to do that more often." "Yep, babe, we do. Guess what we have to do now." "Dang, let's hit the books again."
After revisiting the books and what was covered in class today, Peyton and Jaiden prepared for tomorrow. What the professor is teaching, they both had learned from their parents as they grew up.
Dale and Charley hadn't gotten home yet, so Jaiden and Peyton could spend some quality time together. They cuddled up on the den sofa and pulled out their cellular chemistry book, reviewed the day's lesson, and then read the next chapter. This is going to be the most butt-kicking course of the semester, but they are up for the challenge.
Charley and Dale came in 30 minutes or so after Peyton and Jaiden started on their studies. Charley said, "Afternoon, Bros, did your day go ok?" "It did, Charley, how'd your and Dale's day go?" "It was long but we feel good about what we studied today. The professors were awesome and the material we knew pretty well, so I'd say it was a great day. If you will excuse us for a while, we have some celebrating to do.
Charley went to his and Dale's bedroom and closed the door. If Jaiden didn't know better, he would say he saw fireworks from under the door and heard one huge celebration. He and Peyton were about to die laughing because Dale and Charley weren't trying to be quiet. About an hour later, Dale came out of the bedroom looking like hell but freshly showered and asked what everyone wanted for dinner. Peyton said something quick and low-fat. Dale said, "well, chicken and broccoli crepes it is – in about an hour."
"Peyton, why am I thinking dinner is going to be over the top?" "Jaiden it is probably because it is going to be over the top. Dale is obsessive-compulsive about his cooking. I feel like we have three years at most to learn his techniques and recipes so we won't be in trouble when he and Charley move to where ever their careers take them." "I don't want to admit it, Peyton, but I think you are right.
When Jaiden and Peyton were about to leave for classes, Peyton told Dale that they had labs in the afternoon so they probably would be late getting home. Dale replied, "OK, we'll see you when we see you. Have a good day." "You, too, Dale."
Peyton didn't tell Dale that labs would be on cadavers, or that he would probably be real green when he got home. Jaiden, he wasn't sure about since he had not expressed any reservations. It would be what it was when they got home.
The four Amigos headed to classes. Jaiden figured he and Peyton would get home around 7. They walked through the door about 7:30 and Jaiden went straight to the bathroom and threw up profusely. When he came out, he looked at Peyton and said, "You know I don't drink, but damned if I wouldn't give a hundred dollars for a bottle of Bourbon right now. He turned around and headed back to the bathroom and spilled his guts one more time.
Peyton was stifling laughing as hard as he could. He thought it would be him, not Jaiden who was in Jaiden's current situation. When he came back into the den, he went to the kitchen to get something to drink and when he saw Dale cutting up some chicken, he started to gag and ran back to the bathroom for another round of puking up his guts.
Meanwhile, Peyton called Dr. Mom to let her know Jaiden's condition and to ask her how he could best help Jaiden. When he told her Jaiden's predicament, we could hear her laughing. She said she wasn't laughing at Jaiden being a bit green after working with a cadaver but what was so funny is that Jaiden's father did the same thing when he had an anatomy lab. Peyton had a bit of a laugh at that point. Dr. Mom told Peyton to get some regular Coke, not diet, and slowly heat it in a pan just until the bubbles stopped, and then make Jaiden sip it. If that didn't work, to call Dr. Brannon around the corner. Dr. Mom told him to call her back in an hour and let her know how Jaiden was doing.
The coke trick worked like a charm and Jaiden regained his composure and stopped vomiting. Charley told Peyton that what Jaiden was doing was not vomiting, it was puking. Crude, yes, but it got a laugh out of Dale and Peyton and a mean stare out of Jaiden.
Charley came into the den and handed Jaiden a mug of warm chicken broth and told him to pay no attention to the jackasses in the room. That comment got a chuckle out of Jaiden and a frown from Peyton and Dale. On his way back to the kitchen Charley turned around and said, "Oh, on behalf of Jaiden, TOUCHE!" One more chuckle for Jaiden who yelled out, "I love you too, Dale, much to the chagrin of Peyton who told Jaiden, "I'm sorry love, I deserved that."
When Peyton told Jaiden that, Jaiden wiggled his finger for Peyton to come to him. When Peyton approached his spouse, Jaiden took Peyton's face in his hands and drew Peyton in for a big kiss – before he brushed his teeth after `puking' as Charley would say. Peyton turned several shades of pale green as Charley said, "on behalf of Jaiden, TOCHE!" Dale got the message but that wouldn't be the end-all of end-alls. Charley bent over and whispered something in Jaiden's ear that drew a large smile from him. Dale came into the dining room and sat dinner on the table and went back into the kitchen to finish a side dish to go with the chicken and broccoli crepes. Peyton went to help.
When Dale and Peyton reentered the dining room, they sat down and everybody began eating. After Dale and Jaiden took a few gulps of tea, Charley looked at Dale and said, "Sweet Stuff, you know how much I love you, so I have to tell you, "While you were in the kitchen with Peyton, Jaiden poured a bit of Syrup of Ipecac in your tea. Dale turned green knowing what was supposed to happen. He stopped eating and poured out his tea rinsing the glass well before re-filling his glass with tea. You could tell Peyton was wondering if his tea was adulterated as well. Dale looked at Jaiden who was shaking his head yes without being asked any questions whatsoever. Peyton didn't say a thing, he got up, poured out his tea, rinsed his glass, and poured himself some more tea. Charley and Jaiden smiled through the meal without saying a word. They had won the moment and they knew it.
Dale asked everyone how they liked their dinner and all replied "very well." Charley spoke up and said, "that Syrup of Ipecac should start working right about N-O-W. Peyton got up and ran to the bathroom as did Dale. They were surprised when nothing happened. They came back to the den and found Jaiden and Charley smiling from ear to ear. Jaiden asked, "So, who won this little escapade?" "Peyton said, "Damn, I knew this was a scam and I fell for it." "Dale said, "So did I, Peyton, so did I."
Peyton went to the den to call Dr. Mom back and let her know Jaiden had recovered' and was doing pretty well right now. While he was talking to her, he told her about the get-even-escapade." You could have heard Dr. Mom laugh a mile away. She said, Peyton, that is the funniest thing I have heard in a long time. I can't wait to tell Becky, especially the part about the vomit kiss. How hilarious! And the way Charley and Jaiden paid Peyton and Dale back, that on will go down in the classic book of `get-evens'. Peyton, you have made my day. Thank you. Mom, I know it is about your reading time so we'll talk to later. Love you! "Love you too, Peyton. Kiss Jaiden for me! I surely will Mom, good night." Mom could hardly say good night she was laughing so hard at her request to me. That's one kiss Jaiden didn't get.
We hit the books for more study time instead of watching some television. Around 11 p.m., we all called it a night. Dale and I were in the hallway when we heard Peyton say, "Jaiden brush your teeth before you come to bed or don't even think about it." It would take Dale and me a while to stop laughing at what Peyton said to Jaiden before we could go to sleep.
Yeah, I would say it has been a fun evening. Now a bit of frottage for the four of us with our mates and a couple of cigars to smoke, and the day would end rather nicely!
