"They've done it again!" "Done what, Jaiden?" "Peyton, Illinois executed a man accused of killing another man under the presumption that it was premeditated when it wasn't." "How so?" Peyton, they were boyfriends, and one was in the closet. An argument ensued between the two about one being out of the closet and the other being afraid to come out of it. The outed guy told his boyfriend he would tell whomever he wanted that they were lovers and there was nothing he could do about it. That led to the boyfriend in the closet suddenly and viciously attacking his lover, knocking him to the floor, and punching him three times in the face, killing him. The strange thing is, he did not deny loving his boyfriend, although he hit his lover's nose and shoved the septum into his brain."
"I don't understand how two people who love each other could get into a fight bad enough to kill one or the other." "Me either. The only thing that is plausible in the case is that fear overrode the sensibilities of the guy who was in the closet. In many ways, the father of the young men in the closet was a lot like Dale's and Charley's dads before my mom got to them; the poor guy must have been petrified of his dad; that is freaking sad any way you look at it." "I agree, but it happens all too often, and I don't see it getting any better with the current political climate Trump created in this country. Why people can't love someone because they deserve to be loved... damn."
"Dale walked into the den when Peyton made his statement and asked what he was talking about. Jaiden filled him in on the conversation, and you could see the color drain out of his face and his legs go somewhat limp; he had to sit down. When Charley finally entered the den from the deck, he took one look at Dale and knew something had terribly upset him.
"Dale, love, what in the world is wrong; you are white as a sheet?" "Jaiden, please tell Charley what you told me." Jaiden did as Dale asked, and they then saw the color drain from Charley's face as he sat down and pulled Dale into his arms. "Dale, I know why that bothers you so badly, but we don't have to face that kind of fear anymore. Jaiden's mom took care of that for us, and our dads love us unconditionally now, and they love our children the same." "I know, Charley, but something happening that very well could have happened to us still kicks me in the stomach."
Jaiden spoke up and said, "they executed the young man who killed his boyfriend. He stopped all appeals, wouldn't cooperate with anyone who wanted to save his life, and, as he put it, he was going to take his medicine."
"And nobody tried to buck his wishes?" "No, Charley, they didn't. Whether or not an appeal would be heard on any court level, given the guy's wishes, would be an arbitrary guess. The father of the young man who was killed asked his son's boyfriend if he loved his son, and the answer was, `Yes, I did.' The parents of the guy who was killed traveled to the prison where the execution was to occur to see the boy take his last breath, and then they couldn't sit in the death chamber. At least the condemned guy asked for and was granted a favor by his lover's father; he gave the father a letter he had received from his dad and asked the gentleman to take it to his mother. After the execution, the man took the letter to the young man's mother and gave it to her as she was leaving her husband and her home behind."
"She traveled for some time before she stopped at a diner, pulled the letter from her purse, and read it. She had accused her husband of being unable to tell his son he loved him when he called home less than an hour before his execution. Needless to say, a big fight occurred between the mother and father. When she read the letter her son sent to her, she got back in the family truck and drove home where she found her husband in the wheat field trying to commit suicide. It amazes me how Hashem used a charging wild boar to stop the man from killing himself; amazing!"
"The man and his wife reconciled when she realized how wrong she had been about her husband. Still, the case was prosecuted as a premeditated murder when it was a crime resulting from the extreme passion of the moment. The state in my book murdered that young man. It wasn't a premeditated murder as claimed in court; the case, again, in my opinion, did not meet the criteria to warrant the death penalty. At best, it was an unintentional homicide, and the boy should have only been convicted of Homicide in the second degree. That sentence would only entail a sentence of up to twenty-five years with a chance of parole." "That case has you totally riled up, doesn't it, Jaiden?"
"YOU THINK, Charley!!! Two young men are dead because society and their families had a shitty attitude about them being gay and couldn't accept them without condemnation for who and what they were. Do y'all realize how blessed we are to have the families we have, for being the family we are?" "We all do, Jaiden, but we can't stress about all the problems in society; we can't prevent them, and we can't help everybody who needs help."
"I know, Peyton, but if we don't stand up for those who can't or no longer will stand up for themselves, who is going to do it?" "You know the answer to that, love; we will one way or another." "You're damned straight we will!"
"I'll tell you something else, Jaiden: I don't like violence, but like Herschel Walker running for the US Senate said, I won't shy away from violence when I need to stand up against bigotry and ignorance. And one more thing, God help anybody who messes with our children or you because I won't be very nice to them. And the same goes for anybody messing with Dale, Charley, and their children; it better not happen."
"Peyton, do you think you could kill someone and have a clear conscience?" "Love, if they mess with any of the children in this house or with you, Dale, or Charley, yes; I could kill them and have a clear conscience, go to bed and sleep like a baby. Could I do it simply out of anger? No, I couldn't and wouldn't; but that doesn't mean I won't break an arm, a leg, bust a shoulder, or dislocate a hip joint, and I particularly enjoy popping an ankle or two when people get totally out of line behaviorally." "Peyton, I love you, but you can be downright mean when you want to be." True, but you have to do something really heinous to get me that angry."
"Something like Leon's dad did to him?" "Exactly. I got so much enjoyment when Richard put that turd's shoulder back in place, and he squealed like a pig in the courtroom. When I saw the look on Dad's face, it took all I had not to burst out laughing." "Yeah, I kind of noticed the smirk on your face." "Babe, that wasn't a smirk; that was a look of pain: I nearly bit a hole in my lip to keep from laughing out loud." "Sweetheart, you're crazy." "Yeah, it's nice, isn't it?" "Geez, what are our boys going to learn, and how are they going to use what they learn?" "That's what makes life interesting, and the answer to that question is: we shall see." Peyton started laughing when he gave Jaiden that answer.
Jaiden and Peyton walked to the deck, their arms around each other. Jaiden remarked how much he enjoyed seeing the children playing happily together and going at a healthy ninety miles per hour. He also lamented how he wished he still had that much energy. Dale looked up and commented that went for the rest of the adults in the house.
Abraham Dovid, the quiet, gentle boy of the brothers, ran onto the deck acting incredibly excited asking, "DADDY, DADDY... can we have some ice cream?" Peyton started laughing and pointed to Jaiden to tell him to answer his son. Jaiden was also doing all he could not to start laughing. He looked at Abraham and said, "Son, are you and your brothers ready to go inside?" Abraham Dovid looked at his dad, smiled, and said, "Yes, sir, if we can have some ice cream!" His answer to his dad was a declaration that surprised all four adults sitting on the deck.
Charley was stifling a laugh when he quipped to the adults that the children were growing up and getting too smart too fast. Jaiden and Peyton agreed, knowing full well that there was nothing they could or would do to stifle their children's intelligence; after all, the children get their intelligence honestly through their family bloodlines. Peyton looked at Jaiden and said he thought he would call Jenny and tell her what happened.
"Rabbi Rothstein's residence." "Hello, Sis, this is your brother, the doctor." "Which one; I have two brothers who are doctors and a third brother about to become the fourth doctor in the family?" The good-looking brother who is a pediatrician." "Oh, hey Richard, how are you?" "Real funny, Jenny." "Well, you said the good-looking brother who is a pediatrician, Peyton." "OK, I fell into that one." "Yes, you did, and it was a funny fall. What's up?
"Your boys are very smart, so at what age did they start trying to pull something on you?" "Like what?" "Abraham Dovid, our most mannerly and passive child ran onto the deck excited like something had happened and alarmed him and asked Jaiden if the children could have some ice cream. Jaiden asked him if they were ready to go inside, and Abraham said they were if they could have some ice cream." "Yes, Peyton, they did that at about the same age as your children, so all I can say is get ready; life is about to get way more interesting for you guys."
"Oh no, I was afraid you would say that; I need life to stay on the duller side for just a bit longer." "Too funny, Peyton. It isn't your choice as to when the children grow up and learn how to play the two of you. And between the two of us, your boys should be very adept at playing you for all they can get." "Well, Sis, all I can say is you taught me well; you played Dad, and I played Mom."
"Yeah, and we are still good at doing that!" "So true, Jenny. Well, the children are coming in, so I better go and help Jaiden get the ice cream ready." "SUCKERRRRR! I'll talk to you later in the week." "I'll look forward to that, Jenny; maybe I'll have some more stories about the boys."
"What did Jenny have to say, Peyton?" "She said to get ready that life is about to get extraordinarily interesting for us." "How so?" "The boys are learning to play us for what they want, and she said that as smart as they are, she thinks they are going to be very good at playing us against each other." "I already figured that, but we are going to have to get on the same playing field and figure out what we will give into and what we won't. The only question will be is how we are going to tell the boys no and still maintain civility and quietness in the house."
"I know how to do that, love." "How?" "Bribery; we give them something special when they do something we want them to do when we tell or ask them to do it. That way, they'll get used to being rewarded for being good and be less apt to play us for what they want." "You know, that's not a bad idea. Let's get with Dale and Charley and come up with a plan on how we are going to accomplish that." "Good idea, Jaiden."
When the children were bathed and put to bed, Jaiden asked Dale and Charley to meet Peyton and him in the dining room. When Dale got to the dining room, and no coffee was on the table, he told everybody to hold on while he made a pot of coffee. While he was at it, he popped a few peach knishes into the microwave. Mouths started watering when he got to the dining room with the pastries.
"OK, guys, what's up?" Peyton said, "Dale, the children have started plotting how to play us for what they want, and Jaiden and I got played against each other by Abraham Dovid this afternoon." "How so, Peyton?" "Charley, Abraham came running onto the deck, acting like he was very concerned about something, and then immediately calmed down and asked Jaiden if they could have some ice cream. So, Jaiden asked him if they were ready to go inside, and Abraham said they were if they got some ice cream. The question is: how are we going to let them have something they want once in a while just for the sake of them having it, and how are we going to mastermind a plan for them to have to do something to earn what they ask for?"
Charley said, "that's easy, Peyton; just say no." "If we do that, Charley, we won't have much peace in the house, and we will have to listen to them whine." "True, Peyton; why don't we draw up a list of responsibilities they can accomplish, and if they complete their tasks successfully, they get something special when they ask for it? If they don't do what they are supposed to do, all we have to do is go to the list with them and ask if they did their chores. If they did, they get rewarded. If they don't, they aren't rewarded, and we tell them why."
"I hate you, Charley." "Why, Peyton." "Because your plan makes perfect sense, is infinitely logical, and it will work. If they start whining because they didn't get what they wanted, we remind them of their chore list and go about our way and let them sulk by themselves." Jaiden asked Charley if he had once worked on being a child psychologist, and Charley laughed and said, "no, I learned the technique from my mom; that's what she did to me." "Well, it's a great idea, so let's do that; deal everybody?" Everybody replied, "deal!"
"Now I beg the question: what do we do for the rest of the night?" "I vote that we go to our bedrooms, close and lock the doors, open the tops of the louvered windows, let the moonlight in, and then add some lightning to the skyline?" "Charley, are you hinting that you are horny and need some relief?" "I'm not hinting at anything, Jaiden; I'm flat-out saying it just like I did at Wellstone." Dale gave Charley a glancing smirk that made Charley say, "PLEASE, BABE?" "I'll have to think about it and get back to you. You could have asked me in private, so I wouldn't feel inhibited by Jaiden and Peyton knowing what we were up to."
Charley had a look of defeat on his face, and maybe a tear in one eye. Dale winked at Jaiden and Peyton when he said what he did to Charley. There was no doubt in anybody's mind that Dale was going to accommodate Charley's request; no doubt whatsoever!
Charley walked to Dale's and his bedroom, undressed, and climbed into bed – sulking the whole time. Dale waited about thirty minutes before Peyton said, "Dale, you better go `talk' to Charley so he won't upset himself thinking he did or said something wrong." "Yeah, your probably right, but I am going to let him sulk for a while, and then I am going to go into the bedroom and jump his bones – while he is asleep." "Dude, you're being mean." "Maybe a little, but things will be more exciting when I wake him up playing with him – if you know what I mean." "We know, and we intend to do the same thing when we get to the bedroom." "JAIDEN!!!" "Well, we've known before, so what's different now?" "Babe, you had to ask that question, didn't you?" "Yep."
Peyton started walking toward his and Jaiden's bedroom, dropping a piece of clothing every few feet. Dale got so horny watching Peyton that he literally flew up the stairs to be with Charley. Jaiden did the same following Peyton.
A few minutes later, it wasn't hard to hear a few phrases like `ride'em cowboy' and `hot damn, this is an awesome ride." An hour later, the guys were exhausted, and in need of a cup of coffee, so Jaiden made a pot and took it upstairs, put some on a tray for Dale and Charley along with the condiments they enjoyed, knocked on their door, and let them know the coffee was there and took the rest to his bedroom for Peyton and him.
He opened the windows in the bedroom, and Peyton sat in his lap in front of them as the cool air blew inside and across them. Jaiden planted his nose in Peyton's hair and took in the scent that has driven him mad since the day they met and moaned as he smelled his favorite scent. Peyton fell asleep in Jaiden's arms and snored ever so lightly – evidence that he was extremely tired after a long day. Jaiden propped his feet up on the hassock, closed his eyes, and joined Peyton in peaceful slumber.
The following morning, Jenny called Peyton around 12 in the afternoon his time, 9 am her time. "So, little brother, what did you guys decide to do when the children play y'all for what they want?" "A chore list, Jenny. They are going to know upfront what they have to do every day to earn something special, and if they do it, we will give them what they want – within reason; if they don't, they don't get what they want, and we show them the chore board, so they will know why we said no."
"That's a great idea; who came up with it?" "Believe it or not, Charley. He said that's what his mother did with him." "She's a smart lady, Peyton, and I like the idea. It's a smart training tool for the children to know the joy of earning what they get." "Thanks, Sis; I'm glad you feel that way; I thought the same thing when Charley proposed the idea." "Peyton, let me know how it works; I may propose the idea to some moms at the synagogue. Some of their children are driving them nuts, and I think the idea will work for them."
"Well, sleepy head, you finally decided to get up?" "Yeah, I stayed in the bed too long, which has made me stiff." "What would you like to do today?" "Maybe go up to the national park and sit by the waterfall and let the boys enjoy the mist, or maybe take them on a long walk at the beach." "I vote for going to the beach, at least there, I won't have to climb a hill, and we can enjoy a leisurely walk." "You know we can have problems if certain people see us holding hands."
"Peyton, if anyone gives me any gruff today, they will regret it, and you will get to see what I can do." "What do you mean by I can see what you can do?" "Love, I'm like mom; I don't talk about things people don't necessarily need to know. And I haven't shown you my championship boxing trophies. I'm pretty good at boxing, so I don't mind taking on someone – especially if I know I will win." "Why didn't you tell me about that before?" "As I said, Peyton, it wasn't something I needed to say anything about until today." "What else do I not know about you?" "Well, you know I love you, but I wonder if you know just how intensely I love you." "I hope I do because you have been incredibly loving to me since we met." "Then maybe you do know; I certainly hope you do, because I'm not sure how to let you know the depths of my love for you."
"Jaiden, I have no doubt about that; to me, you are the most amazing person I have ever met, and the glint I see in your eyes every day leaves no doubt in my mind." "Really?" "Really, love, ask your mom, or ask my mother; they'll tell you what they have seen and mentioned to me." "Peyton, you never told me our moms said anything about how much they think I love you."
"Actually, I have, and you blushed when I did. Remember when you held me all night in the swing on the rear deck at Mom's and Dad's place?" "Yes, why?" "Mom cried all day at the sight of you loving me so much that you would do that all night." "Wow, I didn't realize she cried all day."
"Well, she did, and then you broke down in the kitchen, and she held you, rubbed your back, and let you get things out of your system." "I didn't think about that day the way you just mentioned it." "Jaiden, you have done so many things to show me how intensely you love me and want to be with me – it's sometimes hard for me to figure out how to show you that I love you just as intensely." "Peyton, the glint you mentioned that I have in my eyes for you, you have that same glint, and I see it every day. I have never mentioned it because I didn't want to take a chance that it might wane." "Babe, that ain't gonna happen – ever! Now, shut up and kiss me."
Jaiden wrapped his arms around Peyton and gave him the kiss of the century. When he loosened his grip on Peyton, his eyes were filled with emotion. Peyton laid his head on Jaiden's chest for the longest before walking onto the deck with him and sitting in the chaise lounge chair on Jaiden's lap. They stayed like that until the children awoke and asked for breakfast.
After breakfast, they piled into the van and headed to the beach at the lake. The wind was coming in rather briskly, and the waves were large, like the ones in the Atlantic Ocean with strong winds coming ashore. They got the children out of the van, got their hands in their looped lead rope, and began a long trek down the beach. It wasn't long before they came to an outcropping set of rocks, and Peyton said, "you know, if it was dark and someone was watching the children, I would lay you on your back and show you just how much I love you."
Jaiden looked at Peyton and smiled in a most interesting way; it was as if he was saying, how about tonight, sweetheart?" They let the children walk in front of them as they stole little kisses here and there. Some people gave them a bit of a stare, but they didn't say anything, and Peyton and Jaiden didn't care what they thought – they were, always have been, and always would be in love, no doubt about that fact.
"You know, love, the seafood restaurant has a buffet today if you would like to take the children there for lunch." "Babe, I would like you to take me there for lunch today; I'm about to starve already." "I wondered if you would be since you didn't eat much breakfast." "That's true, but I simply couldn't take my eyes off of you this morning; last night was amazing." "Yeah, it really was, and you were awesome." Peyton smiled, and they turned around and started walking back toward the van.
On the way back to the van, the children eyed the seafood restaurant and started begging their dads to take them there for lunch. Peyton and Jaiden looked at each other, with Jaiden saying, "What say we use this as a teaching moment." Peyton giggled and said it was a good idea, so while they were sitting at their table in the restaurant, they talked to their sons about earning special treats by doing some simple chores at home, like spreading their beds up in the morning, making sure they put their clothes in the clothes hamper in their bedroom, and putting their toys away every day after they finished playing with them.
The children ate shrimp, scallops, and clams like they hadn't had a meal in a year. Jaiden wondered out loud where the children were putting all the food they were devouring, and Peyton said there was one thing for sure: what's going in must come out at some point, and they would have to help clean up the mess – pun intended. Jaiden looked at Peyton and said, "my stomach is in an uproar; I think I'll have to lie down when we get home." Peyton looked at him and told him he wasn't getting out of helping wipe the boy's butts that easily, and Jaiden pursed his lips as if to pout about having to do that chore.
"Jaiden, if the boys are going to have to earn the special things they want, don't you think it fair that you have to do the same thing? Last night was a lot of fun, but I need help to ensure I have enough energy to give you a special night like that again any time soon." "Babe, that is mean." "No, it isn't; you help wipe their butts, and I'll have more energy to let you play with mine."
"You know, Peyton, my stomach suddenly started feeling really good." "I thought it would if the incentive was right. You know, swapping off a weekend with Dale and Charley watching the children so we can get a room at the Hilton on the Bay overlooking the harbor's night lights and `exercise' to our heart's content without any interruptions would be incredibly fun." "Peyton, you're right it would, but since we are at the restaurant, you need to stop talking about a night like that." "Why, Jaiden?" "Because I am getting one huge hard-on, and I don't want the boys or anybody else to see it and start asking questions I don't want to and don't know how to politely explain."
"Awe, Jaiden, that is easy to explain. You tell the children that daddy's pee-pee is swollen and hurts. For anybody else, especially inquisitive adults, you simply say, "I am sexually excited, and my dick is so hard it hurts." "Peyton, you know I can't do that; what would people think?" "I don't know, love; let's find out." "What?" "Let's find out!"
Peyton whipped his cell phone out, called Charley, and said, "Hey bro, when we get home, take a good look at Jaiden. I've been talking to him about swapping out a couple of weekends watching the children and going to the Hilton on the Bay for a night of extremely amorous exercise, and his dick is so swollen and pronounced that he is having trouble hiding it; he's afraid the boys will see it or that someone will make a comment about it." "Peyton, hand your phone to Jaiden and watch his face."
Peyton handed his phone to Jaiden and said Charley wanted to talk to him for a second.
"Hey, Jaiden, I hear you're having a problem with a severely swollen and pronounced hard dick; what's up?" "Damn you, Charley, I am going to pay you back for that." "What are you going to do, give Dale and me a weekend at the Hilton on the Bay and take out clothes again, so we have to stay in our room and have raucous sex. Damn, that sounds really good right now. It's making my dick swell to epic proportions; we'll have to compare our dicks when you and Peyton get home. Just thinking about a weekend in the Hilton butt-bouncing had got me so erect and swollen it is starting to hurt. Are you hurting too?"
Jaiden handed Peyton's phone back to him and said, "Babe, you are going to pay for that, and that's a promise. Get ready for some loving, long-lasting butt-bumping tonight."
Nathan Robert looked at his dad and asked, "Daddy, what is butt bumping?" Peyton started laughing so hard, he fell out of his chair. Jaiden wrapped his coat around his arm, held it in front of him, and tried his best to help get the children cleaned up and into the van. He truly wanted to get home as fast as he could.
And wouldn't you know it, on the way out of the restaurant, he and Peyton saw Jay and Dan entering the restaurant with Pete Gray and his wife. Dan noticed Jaiden trying to hide an obviously huge erection and didn't miss the chance as he said, "What's wrong, Jaiden, is your dick trying to jump out of your pants." Pete and his wife died laughing as Jaiden turned seven shades of red, and ran to the van leaving Peyton to get the children into the van to go home. Peyton shook his head, laughing as he muttered to himself, "Damn, I'm going to be in so much trouble when we get home, but this was so funny it's going to be worth the butt chewing I am going to get."
When Peyton got into the van, Jaiden looked at him and told him that if he thought he was going to get a butt chewing when they got home, he was right; however, that was going to be the least of Peyton's worries. Jaiden was planning to do some serious butt-bumping after which Peyton was going to have to explain to Nathan Robert what butt-bumping is.
What Dale and Charley wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall of their bedroom!
