In Skater's Time

Chapter 9 Car Wash

Finally Gordo acknowledged me inside the mall on Thursday. I was buying school supplies and not expecting to see him until Saturday when I'd go help him wash Brian's car. We didn't talk about it and that was fine. We had a coke and sat near the food court and he seemed quiet and reserved until a group of kids came past. Quickly Gordo was involved with them and they disappeared into the mall. I still had shopping to do and I finished my coke and went on my way.

I wasn't big on crowds. Even in Phoenix I had a select circle of friends that I was most comfortable with. We sometimes grew into a larger group but mostly it was people I knew and I had adjusted to being around. I was the total outsider when it came to groups in my new environment. I was meeting the people I wanted to meet and I was fine with that. It was better than the way it was when I first showed up. I finished my shopping and went home to arrange my supplies.

On Saturday morning I made an excuse to get out early. Dad was out back trimming hedges and mom was in the basement doing laundry. I took out the trash and kept going. Why I didn't want them to know I was going to be washing a cop's car, I don't know. I didn't want them to get the wrong idea about it. There are some things you just don't tell your parents.

When I showed up there were three cop cars parked where the one had been parked before. I headed up the steps and Brian answered the door in his shirt and a tank top. He was even bigger than I remembered and he had blond hair flowing out of the top of the shirt. His arms were as big around as my chest. He stood to one side and I went in expecting to see Gordo, but there were two other guys sitting at the small dinning room table. They were drinking coffee and eating donuts. I wasn't surprised.

"Gordo isn't here?" I asked, standing in the living room.

"No, he usually shows up before nine. Want some coffee?" Brian asked.

"Coke?" I asked.

"No problem. That's John and Ed. They brought their cars."

"I thought he just did yours," I said.

"Nah, I couldn't afford him on what I make. We get an allowance for this. I talked a couple of guys into contributing. I furnish the coffee and donuts."

Brian brought a glass filled with dark liquid but mostly ice cubes. I rejected the idea of sitting at the table and took my old spot in the living room about ten feet away. The three of them sat chatting about different stuff but I mostly thought about my own stuff. I wouldn't have wanted to be there alone with Brian but with three of them it was fine. I guess that sometimes crowds were better than at others.

"Hey, kid, come here," Brian said.

"Z," I said.

"Couldn't your parents afford any more letters?" One cop asked, chuckling at his own humor.

I ignored both.

I followed Brian down the hall as he opened one of the doors to let me look inside.

"What?" I said.

"The wall," he said.

"So?"

"They're Glenn's."

There were paintings on two of the walls. One was blue and black, one was green and black, and there were three with various shades of yellows, reds, and oranges. Some looked like he had kicked over a paint bucket, but a couple were more identifiable, although I wasn't able to identify them.

"Gordo did them?" I asked, being very impressed that his mind slowed down long enough for him to be artistic.

"Yeah, he's a talented kid. He's smart too. He's had a rough go of it. That's why I don't pressure him. I mean he can't be pressured. I think doing this helps him to release some of his anger."

"What anger?" I asked. "I've never seen him angry."

"It's more like rage. I think perhaps if there is too much pressure.... Well, I don't think it would do him any good for me to be on his back. He needs to be emancipated so he can get somewhere so he's going to school and learning to be part of some kind of structure. Time is running out for him."

"I've never seen him angry at anyone. He's always happy go lucky. You got the wrong guy."

"Yeah, I know. He hides it pretty well. One day he might go off and I wouldn't want to be there. I don't want him to be there. Some times you feel helpless when you know where a thing is going and you are powerless to stop it."

"Why are you telling me this stuff? I don't want to hear it. Gordo's totally cool."

"I don't know. I want you to know him the way I know him. He's a good kid but he doesn't let anyone get too close. He doesn't trust anyone that much. Maybe if you know him you can be his friend. I think you're the kind of guy he needs to be around."

"I am his friend," I said.

"Maybe," he said, closing the door. "Maybe not."

"What's up, dude," Gordo said as I walked back into the living room.

"Not much."

"I was just showing him your art work," Brian said.

"I don't want guys knowing I do that shit," Gordo protested. "That's why I didn't want one out here. Why don't you stay out of it. Bry?"

"Arts good for you. Cultivates the brain," one of the cops at the table said.

"Right," Gordo said sounding dismissive. "The keys in the cars?"

"You kidding?" One guy said, tossing his keys at Gordo who picked them out of the air.

Brian held out two more sets and we were off down the stairs. I was surprised they let him have the keys but I don't guess we'd have gotten far in a sheriff's car. We stood beside the building and washed and wiped down each of the cars with the supplies that were in the trunk of Brian's car. It took about an hour a car once we swept the floors and cleaned out the trash.

Gordo came back with a twenty-dollar bill after we'd finished the cars and they had been returned them to the front of the apartment building.

"Half's yours," he said as we skated out of the driveway.

"You keep it," I said, not wanting the money.

"Get real. Half's yours."

"I didn't do it for the money," I said.

"Why then?"

"I don't know. To be with you I guess."

"To be with me? Why would you want to be with me? I ain't nobody."

"I don't know. I like you. I like being around you. You're never around enough."

"Leave them wanting more, that's my motto. You like what I do for you is all," he said. "I'll take care of that later on unless you can't wait. I always take care of you. You know that. I got to go somewhere first though."

"I don't want you to take care of me," I complained. "What I want is to be around you more. It's not just about that one thing."

"Oh, you don't want me to blow you any more. Cool. Other guys appreciate my talent even if you don't."

"I didn't say that," I said. "Can I go with you to where ever you're going?"

"I suppose. This is my personal stuff, Z. You don't come up here unless I bring you. Got it?"

"Up where?" I said as we skated.

"It's not far," he said, leading me up to Arapaho and zipping along until we went up an alley and stopped at a fence behind a house.

A boy sat at a picnic table in the middle of the yard. He had similar blond hair to Gordo but he had these soft green eyes and really dark lashes and brows that I saw when he looked over at us. There was no expression, no recognition, and no joy in the little boy face I saw.

Gordo jumped the fence and went over and sat on the tabletop behind the kid. He put his chin on top of his head and his hands on the boys slim shoulders before he let his arms slid down the boys chest and he held him in a relaxed hug with his hands on the boys stomach. I wasn't sure what to do.

I reluctantly jumped the fence and stood at the corner of the table. They're physical contact made me feel uncomfortable as I looked at the house and the many windows and wide open backdoor. The boy couldn't have been more than ten or eleven at the most and I knew Gordo had little inhibition about guys of any age. This seemed pretty risky to me but I didn't know how to suggest he shouldn't be hugging on such a small boy.

Then came a voice from inside the house.

"Glenn Michael, don't you take that boy out of this yard again. Robert, you aren't to go off with your brother. He's not supposed to be here."

"Yes, Ma'am," Gordo said loudly, hugging the boy tightly to him and putting his face next to his and whispered in his ear.

"It's okay, Bobby. One day I'll have a place for you. We'll live together and there won't be anyone to fuck with us. No adults."

The boy said nothing but he had moved his hands on top of Gordo's hands as they sat together. He seemed to be comforted by his brother's touch and he made no attempt to slip the hold.

Robert looked distantly beyond the yard. Gordo was the only one that talked and it wasn't like anything I had heard him saying before. All of his words were pleasant and reassuring and about them being together again one day. The big green eyes stayed wide open but his expression never changed. I felt hollow inside because I didn't understand what I was seeing but seeing it made me very sad.

We were there about fifteen minutes and the last five Gordo said nothing at all. He just held his brother close. When he got up he seemed hesitant, but then I was sure he was ready to go.

"Well, I got fish to fry, Bobby. You going to be okay here?"

The boy nodded his head and looked up at Gordo.

"They treating you okay."

There was another nod as they looked at each other.

"Just remember I won't leave you, okay. I'll be back for you."

There was another nod and the eyes seemed to brighten.

We jumped the fence and I followed him to the first fast food restaurant back on Arapaho going toward Grossmont. He ordered us food and carefully divvied up the change, keeping one more penny then he had given me.

"I don't want this," I protested, knowing he wouldn't listen.

"Yeah, well you got it," he said with impatience in his voice.

"He never said anything the whole time we were there," I said.

Gordo turned his head to look at me and gave me a long hard look. He finally relented and looked away. I could see him pondering my observation.

"He doesn't talk anymore," he said in a soft sad voice.

"Why not?"

"You think I'm the only one got kicked town the stairs? I should have busted the old man but I was too scared ah him. Then he hurt my little brother. It was my fault cause I wouldn't let them put him away. They took Bobby out of the house after that. It wasn't hard to figure out what was going on even if no one copped to it."

"He can't talk?" I asked curiously.

"He don't talk," Gordo corrected with another stare. "He don't trust no one either. He don't have anything to say to no one. You learn to keep your mouth shut when you live with my old man. Bobby learnt real good."

"Who's he living with?"

"My Aunt Helen. She's harmless. A bit of a bitch but she's cooler than most. She pretends she don't see me when I go up."

"Why don't you live there?" I asked.

"'Cause I live in Santee. 'Cause I'm a lost cause. You ask a lot of questions, you know," he said, giving me the long hard look yet again. "I don't want to talk about this shit. Nobody else knows about Bobby. You keep your mouth shut."

"I worry about you. Could you live there with them?"

"She asked once. I said no. I don't want people telling me what to do any more and she would. I been on my own too long by that time. Once you get out here, you can't never go back."

"What about Brian?" I asked.

"What about him? He didn't try nothing with you did he?"

"No, what's that supposed to mean?"

"He says all gay guys don't want my tight little butt but most I met can't ever get enough. He just ain't got around to it yet is all."

"Brian is gay?"

"Never mind," Gordo said. "You ask too many damn questions. It's none of your business what he is or isn't. You don't ask questions like that if you're smart."

"I still worry about you."

"Don't. I've been doing fine without you worrying. Worry about yourself and leave me out of it. I'm a big boy."

"Why don't you live with Brian? He seems cool."

"Z! I'm going to take off if you don't shut up. I can take care of myself. I don't need anybody nagging me."

"I can't help it," I apologized. "I like you a lot."

"You'd be surprised what you can do if you give it half a try."

"I can show you where I live," I offered.

"What for?"

"Well, I'm not an adult and I won't tell you what to do."

"What's that mean?" He said, turning his head to give me a softer look.

"You could come over when you need a place. Just when you want."

"Right, like your parents would let me hang around. Bad idea. Whenever adults get involved, I get screwed big time. No thank you."

"They wouldn't have to know," I said, looking at him across the table. "I got a tree outside my window. I can show you."

"Why would you want to do that for me?"

"I told you. I like you. I worry about you. We could sleep together one night if you want."

"You can get what you want without me living in your room, dude. You're fun, you know," he said, looking past me with a sly smile on his lips along with some ketchup as he looked into his cup at his chocolate milk shake. "You get off like Dart, you know, and that ain't half bad."

"What's that mean?"

"You lose control once I get you going good. Just like him, except when he's driving and then he can't. That always pisses him off. You been with him. You know how he is."

"Not enough," I said.

"Yeah, I know how that goes. He's hard to pin down, but if you can get his dick hard, you got him. He's a push over once he's on a bone. Boy's like that bunny on TV."

"Energized Bunny!"

"Yeah, that one. He just keeps on going and going."

"Is that all you think about? I'm not talking about you coming over to fool around. You'd be safe and have a bed to sleep in."

"Oh, you want me to come over so we don't get it on? That it?"

"I didn't say that."

"You can't fight it, Z. It's bigger an both of us."

"Size isn't everything," I said.

"Sex is."

I have to admit it was better than anything else I'd found up until that time, but I was figuring there had to be even more to it than I had found out about. Running around and getting off with everyone that looked at you that way was fine but that was only half of it for me. There was definitely more and I was going to find out about it.

The day Gordo and I held each other, that was everything. If I had a choice of holding him or having sex... it would be a close call, I guess. Maybe a mixture of both would work.

"So where is it?"

"Where's what?" I asked.

"Your house."

I smiled broadly and we gathered up the trash and jammed it into the nearest can as we skated toward my house. My mother was doing garden work in the driveway when we skated up.

"Hi, mom. This is Gordo."

"Hello," mom said, standing and wiping her hands but not offering one to Gordo.

"Hi!"

"I'm going to show him my room," I said, and we escaped into the house.

I left my board by the front door but Gordo tucked his under his arm as we dashed up the steps.

"Awesome, dude," Gordo said, looking around at all my Phoenix gear that was all that was left of my former life and former friends.

"I never had a room this nice," Gordo said, examining the pictures on my dresser and the two NASCAR models on top of my nightstand beside my bed. "I did a model once. My old man smashed it. These race cars?"

"Yeah, Mark Martin is 6 and Jeff Gordon is 24. My favorite drivers."

"You into racing? That ones like a rainbow."

"As much as anything," I said.

He sat on the bed and tested it with his butt. He kicked off his shoes and leaned back, putting his head on my pillow. I could see him thinking as he looked up at the ceiling.

"Man, you don't know how good this feels."

I sat on the foot of the bed and I watched the hyper boy fall asleep almost immediately. His hand dropped over the edge of the bed and hung down toward the floor. His innocents came back into his face. I wondered how come life was so unfair. Gordo was one of the neatest kids I'd ever known but he had nothing and no one, but the worst part of all was, he didn't want anyone because life had taught him that's how you got hurt.

I watched him for awhile and then I kicked off my shoes and shorts and climbed up beside him after locking the door. I put my arms around him knowing my parents never came up stairs to check on me if they knew I was in the house. This would not have been acceptable to them but what they didn't know was fine with me. I probably wouldn't approve of some of the stuff they did in their bed either. In fact the thought of them doing anything in their bedroom but sleep was frightening.

I really hadn't been tired but with Gordo in my arms, I slept like a baby. Smelling him, feeling him, and I felt all of him, was an amazing experience. I kept my face up near his and I kissed his ear and felt his warmth before slipping off to worlds away.

I dreamt that I was floating on a big ocean and the water caressed me and warmed me wonderfully. My body was alive and full of incredible feelings of joy as I drifted on the waves. Then it became more turbulent and it was harder to breath as my body tensed and tightened with anticipation. I was looking at the ceiling when I realized I was back in my bed.

Gordo had slipped down between my legs and my underwear was around my knees as he worked his lips down until they were on my pubic hair. I was already on the top of the wave as he washed and massaged me to the peak of pleasure. He held my hips tightly as he sensed my impeding climax and I held his head just in case he had any idea of deserting me in my hour of need. I tried to hold off and delay for as long as I could, but then, it was out of my hands.

He kept his face below my waist as I gasped and gulped big air. My heart felt like it might explode even after I had exploded down his throat. He licked and washed me with his ever-active tongue. I couldn't believe how much pleasure he had given me in the short time I had known him.

I hung there for what seemed like a long time as he lavished love on my groin in every way imaginable. I just hung there watching his talented lips do their magic dance. He seemed devoted and determined to give me all the pleasure he could.

I could feel myself rising and hardening in a way I never remembered before. I felt my hands on his head as my hips got into his motion. That incredible mellow expression of warmth turned into a desperate search for more pleasure. I watched as I fed my angry arousal to his anxiously awaiting mouth. I was sure I could last forever with him hanging onto me with his lips that way, but forever isn't as long as it sounds. Before I knew it I was rolling on top of him and force feeding him for all I was worth.

I had never been that hot before. It was usually a peaceful meeting that ended with my grateful satisfaction and it was all quite friendly until he got me on the homestretch for the second time. If he hadn't held me so tightly I would have been worried, but there was little time for that once I was on my second trip to bountiful. It was a hard drive but one I gladly made.

Once I'd started to shiver and shake he took special care to milk every drop into his throat. I felt the constriction of his throat on my throbbing passion. He stayed with it until I was not only done but collapsed back on my bed, covered in sweat and spit.

He jumped up and pulled on his shoes without tying them.

"Don't go," I said, observing his bulging Spandex. "You never let me do it to you."

He had already started to open the window, but he hesitated and leaned his board below it. When he peeled down the Spandex the hard pink flesh stood straight up at a forty-five-degree angle. I could see the sticky knob at top and his hand flailed on it as he stared at himself. His hips moved and his hand pumped away as he gave himself the pleasure I wanted to give him as he bent to the occasion.

In yet one more sudden quick move, he was standing at the head of my bed and pulling my mouth down on him. I tried to use my tongue the way he used his. I tried to suck, and lick, and blow him all at the same time. His hot hard flesh was throbbing against my lips as he leaned his thin body over my head, gently holding my mouth as far down on him as it would go. He started to shake and tremble as his undulating hips got in tune with my lips.

"Oh! Oh! Oh!" Each gasp had another exclamation mark attached.

He continued to moan softly as his hand caressed my hair and his hips jerked uncontrollably at my mouth. The warm liquid spewed into my mouth with bittersweet drops of joy. He collapsed over me while still holding my head down on him. I was happy to stay that way for as long as he allowed.

"Damn! That was a hell of a ride. Thanks," he said, using his shirt to dry his dick once he had taken it back.

"Thank you," I said, watching him as he put himself away and straightened his clothes.

"We're cool?" He asked, with one leg out the window and one leg in as he turned to find out.

"We're like totally cool, dude. That was great."

"Yeah, well, I don't let guys do that to me," he said, leaving the opening for me.

"Why not?" I said.

"That's only for someone I like. I mean, really like."

"Me too," I said, knowing what he meant. "I feel the same way about it."

"Who else has got you," he said, looking very serious all of a sudden.

"You mean blown me?"

"Yeah, like that," he explained.

"Gee, I'll have to think about that. Well, only you, Gordo. No body else ever has. Dart is the only other guy I been with."

"Really! Cool!"

He had no trouble with the tree and I stood at the window and watched him head for the street. All the daylight was gone and it wasn't dark yet but it wouldn't be long.
