We pulled into the Castanza's driveway and got ourselves upstairs. The first thing I did was to go over and get the AC turned on. We proceeded to unload the cars and then it was a trip out to the mall and groceries and the other necessities of fending for ourselves.
By the time we got back, the air was cool and freshly circulated. I looked around the apartment and quickly decided that Mrs. Castanza had been up here to clean very recently.
"Let's get this stuff put away and call it a night."
"No argument from me lover. Even if I don't go to the Frat with you tomorrow night, I've got a feeling it's going to be a long day."
We snuggled down for the night and bright and early we took our laps around the block as we were fairly certain none of the guys were back on campus yet.
After we got cleaned up and ate, we headed to campus. We got checked in and received our schedules for the year.
I got my schedule and it looked really packed until I realized that some of the courses were only for a half-semester.

Dean Evans had done a good job of seeing I could get to practices on time. I also scanned the names of the teachers and Mr Adams was not among them. I, in fact, didn't recognize any of the names, which I thought was a bit unusual after two years at the college.
"Looks like I'm good to go for both jogging in the morning and getting to practice on time. I don't recognize any of the names of the teachers though."
"Yeah none of my classes start before 9 so I'm good as well. Let me take a look. I recognize some of them. Guess you just never ran into them before. Guess we need to hit the bookstore now."
"That was the plan."
The bookstore was finally taken care of, we stopped off at the rec center and renewed our lockers there. I strolled down to the apparatus room and found the posting for tryouts for the team to be on Monday at 4. There was no mention this year about carryovers or not so I decided to bring my stuff and be ready.
By this time it was mid-afternoon and we headed back to the apartment. I had intended to put my feet up as I needed to be out in a couple of hours for Frat House Friday. What happened was Paul and Cam had shown up and we spent the time talking to them.
It was just a general conversation until we got to the new complex.
"You actually bought the old "Y"?
"Yeah sign papers in 2 weeks and I hope to have the place open by the end of the school year, Cam."
"That sounds pretty damned ambitious, Dennis."
"The contractor thinks it is possible. The building is in pretty good shape and I'm not adding much besides the gymnastics equipment."
"Well, here's hoping it all goes well, Den."
"Indeed. Will we see you guys in the morning for jogging?"
"Yeah, we'll meet you outside Cochran at 6. We'll keep an eye out for Aiden and Gordon when we get over to campus and fill them in."
Not long after that Karl and I grabbed a little supper and then I got cleaned up and headed over to the frat.
I had told them that I would probably be back this year, so they weren't all that surprised to see me. Everybody else was there well before time so Kurt called a quick meeting.
"Before things get started we have one piece of business to see to. I'll be graduating this year so we need to elect a new house president so I can train him. The floor is open for nominations."
I hadn't really spent enough time here last year to know the guys that well, but I thought it should be one of the sophomores. That gave them, Bud Green, Jake Ellsworth, or Alvin Sommers, and indeed those were the three names that eventually got put forward.
The only one I had even talked to was Jake, who seemed to have a good head on his shoulders. So when the vote came I voted for Jake. It seemed a lot of the guys agreed with me as Jake was soon announced as the new head of house elect.
When the time came, Kurt and Jake were right there at the front door and I was once again close at hand. I wasn't expecting to see anyone I knew this year, and I didn't. To be sure, there were some lookers there this evening. I even had a couple of guys ask to see my room.
Luckily there were no incidents tonight and along about 10:30 I made my goodbyes and headed back to the apartment.
"So, see anybody we know?"
"Not among the freshmen lover. There are still a few of the original crew hanging in there though."
"And what about the freshmen?"
"There were some lookers, even had a couple of guys ask to see my room, which they didn't."
"I should hope not. Well, if we're meeting the guys in the morning I suppose we had better crash."
"Yeah, it is about that time."
We headed into the bedroom stripped, and tumbled into bed. Karl spooned up behind me and we were soon asleep.
5:30 rolled around as it always does, and we were up and got ready to run with the guys. So over to Cochran Hall and Cam and Paul were there waiting on us. We could see Aiden and Gordon waiting for us in front of Corman Hall, the junior dorm.
We made our way over there and we all got our hugs in and we started off for our run.
"So, how did that whole kidnap thing end up Gordon?"
"Hell If I know Den. Everybody was cleared out by the time we got home."
"What the hell?"
"Easy Cam. Remember when we brought them out for a ride a few weeks ago? Well, they had gone off grid for about a week and nobody knew about it. Somebody submitted a ransom request right after they showed up at our place."
"I'm surprised nothings come of that."
"Well, I hardly think Dad would want it to be common knowledge, Karl."
"Yeah, I suppose not."
We waved at a few familiar faces as we made our way around the quad.
"Nobody seems real surprised to see you here Den."
"It was no secret that I'd be back here for Karl's senior year. When I show up for classes tomorrow, well that might be a different thing."
"Aren't they mostly freshman classes?"
"Yeah, so I'm not really expecting to see any familiar faces, but who knows who might have put some of these off as electives from other courses?"
"Yeah, I suppose."
We finished our laps and Karl and I headed back to the apartment.
"So, what do we do for the rest of the day Den?"
"Get ourselves organized. We pretty well know the campus and where our classes are going to be held."
"By this time I should sure as hell hope so."
"I suppose we could go back and hit the rec center, though I know the apparatus room will be closed."
"Let's do that after lunch."
I settled down to getting my computer set up with all of the new teachers' emails and whatnot. While I was there I did check the past couple of days emails. There wasn't anything there that needed attention.
Later, I got cleaned up and Karl and I headed for Ron's.
"Well, good to see you boys back again."
"Good to be back Gladys, but this should be the last year."
"Time sure flies. Seems like only just last year you two walked in here together for the first time. No lunch special, so the usual?"
"I'm going to have the Philly cheese steak if it's still on the menu, hold the peppers extra cheese, and a coke."
"Same for me Gladys, but I'll have the peppers on mine and a coke."
Gladys was off and our cokes were soon brought to us.
A few familiar faces showed up here today, but nobody stopped to talk to us.
We were soon enough fed and then we made our way back to campus and the rec center. We changed on up and headed for the weight room. We got our time in on the weight machine, spent a bit on the stationary bikes, and then headed for the pool for a few laps. Paul and Cam were on their way in when we were on our way out, and it struck me that we hadn't seen the Castanza's yet.
"Hey Paul, is everything alright at home? We haven't seen your parents yet."
