I figured that this had something to do with the investigation, so I went back with the Commissioner. As we walked into his office, his receptionist just gave the Commissioner a quick nod.

There was a man waiting inside the office as well.

"Mr Sawyer, it is my pleasure to present you with your broker's license."

The other guy passed the Commissioner my framed license. I took the license with one hand and shook the Commissioners with the other. Naturally, there was a picture taken and the guy scurried off.

"Now then before you get on the road, is there anything you haven't already told me about this whole thing with Mr Adams?"

"No sir, I believe I've given you all of the information I have. Was the college at all helpful?"

"Oh yes, your Dean was most forthcoming with every bit of information that they had."

"If I may be so bold as to ask, what does the outcome appear to be?"

"I'd rather not speculate at this point Mr Sawyer, but you shall be informed when an outcome is reached."

"That's all I can ask for sir. Thank you."

"Well then a safe trip home Mr Sawyer."

"Thank you, sir."

We shook hands once again and I left the office. On my way out the guy who had taken the picture handed a copy of it to me already framed.

I got on the road home and made the trip without any problems. I pulled into the garage and transferred both the license and the photo to the Toyota so that I'd have them when I went to work tomorrow.

It was into the house and it was still early afternoon.

"Well?"

"I am now a licensed broker Mrs Ohanlon."

There was nothing else to do so I hit the pool. I was out and changed before Karl got home.

"Well?"

"I have my license in the car."

"Out frigging standing! And what about Adams?"

"No news on that front, but the Commissioner said I would be informed."

"Guess you can't ask for more than that."

"Nope."

"So, we going out to celebrate?"

"I'd just as soon not, mainly because it is the middle of the week and we both have to work tomorrow."

"Yeah, I suppose."

We shortly after sat down to supper.

The rest of the night was spent cuddling in front of the TV and then early to bed, but not to sleep if you get my drift.

Thursday morning and the routine kicked in. We were on our way down to the park for our laps.

"Well?"

"Well, what Aaron?"

"Did you get your license?"

"Yes of course I did."

"So now you can get to work."

"Not like I've been sitting on my thumbs, Roland."

"No of course not, but now you really get to do things."

We finished our laps and then headed home. Once Karl and I were showered, dressed, and fed we headed out.

An uneventful drive to work and I headed in with both the license and the picture in hand.

"Nothing in the overnights Dennis."

"Well, I guess I can hope for a quiet day for my first one as a licensed broker then."

"They gave it to you right away?"

I just held it up for Stan, along with the picture.

"Tanks lost weight since the last time I saw him. Any news on the investigation?"

"Not a word, but he will keep me informed. Why do I have the feeling that however this investigation turns out that I'm going to be paying for it for a long time?"

"Because history repeats itself."

"I hope not."

People started showing up for the day and soon enough it was time for the morning talk. Stan had his say and when he turned to me, I just held up my license. The place broke into applause.

When I got them quieted down I spoke.

"Let's make some money!"

The opening bell was rung a few minutes later and everyone got to work. For me, that meant reviewing Harrison Bartlet's portfolio. That took me right up until noontime.

I did a quick review of the morning while I had my sandwich and found nothing startling.

I did take the time to call the realtor who was handling the "Y" building. The earliest time we both had available was Monday morning, so I set it for then.

The afternoon finally wound down to the closing bell and folks started shutting down to go home.

"I didn't see anything to be concerned about today Stan."

"Neither did I Dennis. It should be a quiet night."

"We can only hope. See you tomorrow."

It was an uneventful drive home, other than heavier traffic than normal, which resulted in Karl and I getting home at about the same time.

There wasn't time for a swim tonight before supper, but afterward, we did hit the pool and then it was a bit in front of the TV.

Friday morning and we did it all over again.

I spent the morning going over any new offerings to see if there was anything worthwhile. about 11 my intercom buzzed.

"Harrison Bartlett line 3."

I had been expecting Mr Bartlet to call to review his portfolio once it was known that the current round of licenses had been issued.

"Good morning Mr Bartlett. I'm ready to review your portfolio."

"Not why I'm calling Mr Sawyer. Have you by any chance heard from Gordon or Aiden in the last week?"

"No sir I haven't, and from the tone in your voice, neither has anyone else."

"You are correct Mr Sawyer. Authorities have been alerted so you may well hear from them as well."

"Have they been talking about going anywhere?"

"Not to us he hadn't, nor anyone else as far as we can determine."

"If I hear anything I will be sure to call you. Please keep me informed."

"I will."

There was only one reason that I could think of that the guys had gone "off-grid". They had eloped. Something that would likely see Harrison off the deep end. Why did I think that was too easy a solution?

I got back to watching the markets, but the fact the guys were missing stuck in the back of my mind.

The closing bell finally sounded and people started getting ready to head out.

"I hear Harrison Bartlett called today. Anything come out of that?"

"Not as far as the business is concerned. His son and his boyfriend have gone missing for about a week. He was just asking if I've heard from them."

"Is that unusual for them?"

"Very."

Patrick walked up to us at that point.

"Usual time tomorrow?"

"Absolutely. I'm outta here as well."

"Have a good weekend Dennis."

I drove home and got there before Karl. When he did come in he knew something was bothering me.

"What the hell now Den?"

"Gordon and Aiden haven't been heard from in at least a week. Harrison called looking to see if I had heard from them."

"Crap."

"To say the least."

"And I know you're going to worry about them until they turn up."

"Well, yeah."

"It's going to be a long weekend."

"More than likely."

At which point we were called to supper. Once we had eaten Karl and I settled in front of the TV for the evening.

Saturday morning saw us up and out with the guys and then on our way over to Edgeton. I didn't get changed up though today.

"What's wrong Dennis?"

"Too many things on my mind Coach. It wouldn't be safe."

"Anything I can do?"

"Not that I can think of unless you know of any issues with the "Y" building or facilities?"

"None I can think of, why?"

"Because I'm seriously considering buying the place and turning it into a gym for the public and a gymnastics training facility."

"That works out for you, let me know."

"Sure thing Coach. Should I keep my eyes open for your resume?"

"You never know."

Coach went to the floor to work out with Alex. I got to really pay attention to the workout today.

"I think Alex is going to be tough to beat Karl."

"Looks like it to me. I bet he could even give you a run for the money."

"I'm not doubting that in the least."

When he was done Alex came over to us.

"You didn't work out today Dennis. Are you ok?"

"Physically fine, mentally distracted. If you're done hit the shower and let's get on the road."

We got our regular drive-thru lunch and then headed home.

Karl and I spent much of the afternoon out by the pool. Bobbie came over, but even he could see I wasn't in the mood for horsing around.

At about 4 the doorbell rang.
