We did sleep in a little bit here on Tuesday morning. A liesurely breakfast was had and then we got into the car and started to explore a little bit.

Our first stop was the Animal Kingdom Lodge. When I was looking for our accomodations the description of the place had gotten my attention. The main lodge looked just like you would expect it to from more "jungle" movies than were needed.

The real feature here however was the ability to walk out into the savanna, to some extent, and watch the animals roaming around freely. We made our way all the way from the main lodge all the way down to the Kidani village complex and the last savanna overlook.

Along the way we saw giraffes, wilderbeast, gazzelles, zebras, and even a couple of what I assumed were water buffalo.

We got a snack at one of the many little plaes to eat and then spent some time at the Zawadi Marketplace. There were several things that caught my eye, but I was going to wait until we actually hit the Animal Kingdom.

Next stop was the Wilderness Lodge, the very epitone of a vast hunting lodge, all decked out in wood motifs as one would expect. We wandered the pool complex and genreally looked the place over.

From there we moved over to Yatch club area and walked the Boardwalk from one end to the other.

We did take our time and looked at the all of the little free standing sales stalls. The were several hotels along the Boardwalk, each with its own style.

We were well into the afternoon by this time and we decided to make our last stop Fort Wilderness. First thing we did was to make reservations for supper at the Hoopdy Doo revue. We wandered the grounds and found they had horseback riding available. We took an hour trail ride amongst the Florida greenery.

Soon enough we were waiting for our dinner time. While we were waiting there was a "cowboy" out there to entertain us with his rope tricks. I thought that a nice touch on Disneys part.

We were finally called to supper and Karl and I ended up near the front of the hall and right in front of the stage. What followed was the western equivalent of dinner and a show. The performers were as irreverant as they could be and there was a sing along with it all. Near the end of the show the perfomers made their way down into the audience and asked where different people were from and then proceeded to make some type of funny remark. Needless to say a good time was had by almost all.

We exited the revue and found that there were carriage rides available. We took one and our driver had the good sense not to give us any type of running commentary. We snuggled in the back of the carriage as we went around the grounds of Fort Wilderness.

Eventually we got back to our starting point and Karl and I made our way back to the car and our own hotel. After walking for most of the day we went sraight to our room and fairly well conked out.

We were up fairly early on Wenesday as we were headed for the Animal Kingdom.

Once we made it to the park we had to wait for it to open. We immdeiately headed to the left and towards the back end of the park as we were intent on getting to the Kilimanjaro Truck Safari early,as Carlton and Devon had advised.

Once aboard the truck we moved on out into the animal area. First thing we saw was and alligator and then we moved out onto the "savanna", and were almost immediaely stopped. There were some giraffe on the road and animals obviuosly had the right of way around here. They weren't afraid of the truck, or its load of humans. In fact that walked along the side of the truck and stuck their heads in as if to say hello. The multitude of clicking and whirring cameras didn't seem to bother them either.

Once we were able to be on our way we quickly came across rhinos, elephants, zebra, several types of gazzelle, more giraffe, water buffalo, wilderbeasts and a multitude of dangerous animals.

We also passed an "escartment" that was home to a pride of lions. I was lucky enough to get a picture of the male as he was moving about.

We were soon enough back to the loading point and as we were leaving the attraction we were presented with the option of a walking trail. We decided to explore this trail and were rewarded with up close and personal with several different types of herbivores. Further along the track we came to an enclosure where we were privileged to see some silverback gorillas. They are considered to be very dangerous, but I found it hard to believe when I saw one sitting at the window actually playing with a small child on our side of the observation glass. They may be called dumb animals, but at that moment you couldn't have proved it to me.

Further along the trail and we encountered the most beautiful Bengal tiger who was quite comfortably swimming about the small pond of its enclosure.

When we got to the end of the trail we were back in Harambe village. It was one of the central shopping districts with African themed merchandise. There was also a gentleman here who was crafting walking staffs and sticks. To me it was fascinating to watch. I don't know what possessed me to do so but I picked up a rather elaborately colored shirt in a native style.

We moved on from here and came to the center piece of the Animal Kingdom, the Tree of Life. It was, to say the least, a wonder to the eyes. Animals of every kind had been carved into the trunk of the tree. Hundreds of them over the truck, limbs, and roots of the tree. What was even more unexpected to me, ws that there was a theatre built into the base of the tree.

The show was "It's a Bugs Life." featureing the characters from the movie, complete with stink bug stink.

From here we moved on into the Asia part of the Animal Kingdom. The Kali River Rapids beckoned us and we went. A large circular craft and we were off and running down the rapids. Nobody told us that we would come under attack by water pistol from our fellow park goers. Needless to say one way or another you ended up getting wet.

We got off of the ride and made our way back out to the main plaza area here. We grabbed our lunch at the Yak and Yeti and simply decompressed for a few minutes. After lunch we shopped around for a little while before getting in line for "Expedition Everest." While making our way through the que to get to the boarding station, was passed a display of fruit bats, which were a hell of a lot large than I cared for.

We climbed aboard the train sytle ride and started the climb up the mountian at the top of which was ran into a yeti. The train car started to move backwards before we ended up going forward again in a wild descent back to the boarding station. I was very glad we had taken the time to give lunch a chance to settle before getting on this one.

We took the time to check out the other areas of the park where they had exhibits of how they took care of the animals here as well as what amounted to a petting zoo and things that we could do everyday to help keep animals hibitats healthy.

The last place we ended up seeing was Dinoland. The main attraction here was the Dino institute. It was another motion control ride and you were being sent back to the time just before the Dino killer asteroid struck the earth. We did make it back safely, but apparently had a little stowaway with us.

The afternoon was wearing on at this point and Karl and I started to make our way back towards the main gate of the park. We did pass Monkey island along the way. Watching the various breeds swinging all over the "ruins" of the temple was fun for a few minutes.

We stopped at the main gift shop on the way out and I loaded up on pins for the different rides we took today. We got back to our room and simply relaxed for a couple of hours before we once again got into the car and made our way over to the Old Key West resort where we had resevations for supper at Olivias. After supper we did stroll around the resort a little before heading back to our room.

"We've got one more day left on our tickets love. What do you want to do with it?"

"I'm thinking we go back to the Magic Kingdom and hit some of the small stuff we bypassed to get to the major attractions."

"Works for me Karl."

We once again watched the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom tonight before we finally fell asleep.

Thursday morning we were up up and out of the hotel and took the monorail over to the transfer station for the Magic Kingdom. Today, as we were not in that big of a hurry, we took the ferry across the lake to the Magic Kingdom.

Today we did like the guide books said and went down Main Street and into Adventureland and worked our way around the park. Lunch was had in Liberty Square, where we did take the time to ride the paddlewheeler, and then we moved back on through Fantasyland and took in the smaller attractions. We even stopped and took a ride on the Grand Carousel, and then over to the Flying Dumbos. We moved on down the concourse and eventually came to "Mr Toads Wild Ride." and the twirling Teacups.

We were now at the crossover into Tomorrowland and just had to take a turn on the international raceway. Wings of Man was a gondola type ride theough a number of travel experiences.

We were back in front of Cinderellas Castle at this point and it was well into the afternoon. We headed back up through Main Street an decided to take the train around the whole of the Magic Kingdom.

When we got back to Main Street we ducked into Town Hall to see if we could get a reservation anywhere in the Magic Kingdom for dinner. We ended up at the Diamond Horseshoe Revue in Frontierland. Similar to the Hoopdy Doo Revue, but a bit more "upscale" but no less irreverant.

We decided once we had supper, to stay around once again for the night parade and fireworks.

We made our way back to our hotel and Friday was spent simply lounging areound the pool and making sure that everything was packed for our departure the next day.

Friday night we spent at the top of the Contemporary Hotel and watched the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom one more time. The rest of Friday night was spent in each others arms.

Saturday morning it was making sure everything was packed. Karl had left the room to bring our bags down to the car. I gave the room once over, checking all of the drawers and under the beds and going through the bathroom to make sure everything was gotten.

We fought the traffic on I4 all the way back to the airport and I dropped Karl off at the terminal while I returned the car. I had made sure that we had plenty of time before our flight so we did have to sit in the gate for a while. Finally we were boarded and we were on our way home.

It was after dark before we were back on campus. Karl stayed with me in my room as we were both pretty sure Pete wouldn't be back tonight.

I've gotten a few comments on these last chapters and I feel I owe some of you an apology. To me Spring Break seems almost a "right of passage" for all college students. I never had the oppurtunity to visit any of the "regular" Spring Break hangouts so I thought it better to write about somewhere I knew about.

If these chapters have offended you I apologize for it, but in the end it was my call to make.
