I Have You

Gay

"Good morning Jared," Mom came in and shouted! "Happy Thanksgiving!" She always wanted me to be up early. But when I looked at the clock I was surprised that it was eleven. And I was even more surprised when I didn't feel Tommy next to me.

"Um morning mom. Where's Tommy?" I asked drowsily.

"Oh yes, Master Chef Tommy. He is downstairs cooking." She said with a smile while opening my blinds letting the bright light seep into my room.

"What? When did he wake up?"

"Oh I'd say around ten. Then he came downstairs and noticed grandma and I needed some help so he volunteered. And let me tell you Jared that boy can cook. He knows almost as much as I do." Mom said. She knew almost all there was to know about cooking and has tried to teach me, but I almost burn the house down every time.

"Well it smells good that's fo sho!" I said enthusiastically. Mom just looked at me and smiled. She probably didn't realize that I was commenting Tommy more than her.

"Jared, will you please use proper English?"

"Sorry mom. So I guess grandma got used to Tommy and I pretty fast."

"Well we argued non-stop about you and him. I finally got it into her head and everyone else's head with the exception of your Aunt Jill and cousin, that you are still her grandson and Tommy means a lot to you. I also convinced her that Tommy could one day be her grandson-in-law one day. She seemed excited to hear that one. She got even more excited when I mentioned Stacy would be coming home for dinner."

"Wow mom thanks." I said as I got out of bed and gave her a hug. "So when were you gonna tell me Stacy was coming over?"

"Well I was hoping it would be a surprise but I guess not anymore. Now get up because Tommy made breakfast and everyone has eaten but you. Although, Jill left and picked breakfast up for her, Tim, and Danny because she didn't want to get a disease. God, the nerve of that woman." Mom said as she let out a heavy sigh.

"Mom she'll come around some day. Even if she doesn't everything will be okay."

"Yes well I was thinking of how this is affecting you. But apparently I don't have to worry about you anymore." She said with a smile.

"It's not affecting me at all. If she wants to be ignorant and a hater than she can. But I don't want her calling Tommy anything insulting. I couldn't handle that." My eyes narrowed as I looked at mom.

"Well good Jared. Nice way to think of it. But don't worry she will not be calling either one of you any names. Your grandmother and Aunt Mary put that into her head. As well as that cousin of yours."

"Thanks mom. Tell Tommy I'll be down in a minute."

"Okay sweetheart."

I was excited to hear Tommy and I got accepted just after the first night. That was relieving, well, except for Aunt Jill and Danny. But they didn't matter now. I'm happy with Tommy and that's what matters. The smells of different foods got me out of bed faster than I had planned. Before I knew it I was already standing in the kitchen.

"Morning dear." Grandma said. "I want to apologize for last night Jared. It just came as a shock is all." I looked at her then at Aunt Mary, Uncle Jerry, and grandpa. They each had apologetic looks on their faces.

"It's alright. I guess there could have been a better time for that though." I giggled as I said that.

"Now young man, did you know your boyfriend was such a chef? My goodness he almost threw us out of the kitchen and took over." Grandma said as she let out a small laugh.

"Yeah I kind of got a taste of his breakfast a week ago. And I'm dying to taste it again." I saw Tommy cooking in the kitchen. He looked up at me and smiled. Breakfast looked amazing. Tommy made omelets, toast, waffles, and fresh orange juice. My boyfriend served me and I almost didn't wait until he put my plate down. I engulfed everything. It must have taken me seven minutes to eat everything. Tommy, including everyone else, was laughing pretty hard.

"That was so good babe! I can't wait to try dinner!" I said enthusiastically.

"Thanks Jared. Your mom and grandma did a lot to. I just kinda...took over." Tommy laughed.

"Well what are we gonna do today Tommy?"

He was putting dishes in the dishwasher. After cooking always came cleaning. I was curious as to know what we were doing today because although it is Thanksgiving I don't wanna be bored all day.

"How about we just stay home and watch movies all day?"

"That sounds like a great idea Tommy." My mom said.

"Alright then, I'll grab some movies and we'll start." I said.

I ran up to my room and grabbed some movies ranging from The Terminator to Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. Jim Carrey was an idol of mine. He is very funny and I love all his movies. That also goes for Arnold Schwarzenegger, and although he is a lousy governor, he is a great actor. Anyways, I put the first movie in then went up to take a shower. When I'm in the bathroom I never lock the door. My parents are very generous on my privacy like I said before. My showers are always hot. Sometimes, though, I do take cooler ones. But hot water always relaxes me, usually. I stepped in and sighed relief as I felt the hot water running all over my body. The shower was pretty big itself. If I tried, I could probably fit six people with plenty of moving room. I heard the door shut and I got a little nervous as to who it was.

"Hi babe." Tommy said softly. "Can I come in? I'm a mess." And in deed he was.

I looked him over a couple times as he removed his clothing. His body was so cute. Daydreaming at his body, his voice brought me back to reality.

"Jared!"

"Oh, what? Sorry babe, I got...distracted."

"Yeah well can I come in then?"

"Of course."

He got in and didn't like how hot the water was so I turned it down for him. We didn't do anything in the shower but wash each other and kiss. After the shower we went back downstairs and watched the movie.

It's three and we managed to watch about four movies. But my Aunt Jill still hadn't come home. Maybe she hated me that much. Nah, she's probably visiting friends that she has out here or something. And maybe it was ironic but since she left Stacy arrived with her boyfriend. Everyone was so excited to see her. As was I, just not as much as everyone else. Tommy seemed to calm down around everyone finally. And before we knew it, it was time to eat. Tommy, mom, and grandma made a huge turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, salad, rolls, green beans, and four pies for dessert. They went food crazy. Before anyone dug into the food Aunt Jill, Uncle Tim, and Danny walked in and they looked somewhat happy. We finally got to put food on our plates and mom said that we were all going to say something we are grateful for. She, of course started, thanking God she had such wonderful family. Everyone said almost the same thing but then it was my turn. I did say thanks for my family, even the haters, but I also said thanks for my boyfriend. This made Jill and Danny's head turn towards me and just stare blankly. Tommy thanked God for me especially. Then we finally got to eating. I didn't know where to start. My whole family just started eating like animals. Jill then started talking directly to me.

"So Jared, what is it like being gay?" she asked questioningly. No one else really paid that much attention but did look at me in wonder. Mom slowly stopped eating and got a serious look on her face but didn't say anything, yet.

"It's fine. I like it. In fact, if I had to choose between gay or straight I'd choose gay. It just seems much easier than dating a drama case." That brought a few laughs from everyone. Everyone that is, except my aunt and cousin.

"So you'd rather displease God than please him I see?"

"Yes. If he didn't like gays then he wouldn't have put them on this earth. And even if he only allowed them because he wouldn't kill or destroy them then he still had the choice of banning us. But the way I see it is that he doesn't have a problem with gays."

"Good point. So how do you know you are? I mean have you dated a girl?" she asked while taking another bite of her food. Mom just seemed to get angrier.

"Well no but when I dated Matt I knew I was gay. It was a feeling at first and instincts told me to look for boys, not girls. And I have no regret of being gay. I still have the air in my lungs and have the best boyfriend I could ever ask for." I said. Tommy grabbed my hand under the table and squeezed it gently. I could tell her wasn't too comfortable with this conversation, but I was not going to let my aunt win.

"So dating boys is more of a choice really? It must be quite exciting to get rammed up the ass to continue with it."

I could not believe she just said that. Mom looked like she was about to explode, but kept her cool. Tommy looked like he wanted to leave.

"Yes, it is a choice. And no, I do not get rammed up the ass." I looked at Jill with a challenging look. Things were starting to heat up.

"Ah I see. So you must do the ramming on that thing then right? I don't blame you I mean if I was you I'd rather give someone else a disease also." She said sourly returning my look, but a worse one.

"No. We are both still virgins. Would you like to check?!" I was now getting angrier. Everyone slowly stopped eating.

"Of course not, you could still have a disease. I wouldn't want to catch anything and pass it along to my perfect son."

"Oh yeah really perfect. Torturing his cousin for years I'm sure counts as heterosexual fun at your church."

"Yes, as a matter a fact it is. Our church would never allow homosexuals in the church and destroy God's grace. So you and your toy can go back to ramming each other until your heads explode!"

Tommy looked sick. Mom looked pissed. Dad looked just as pissed. And everyone else sat in awe.

"If you were my son I'd let them bash you! Maybe it would knock some sense into you!"

Did she just say that? I couldn't believe that. If I was her son she'd let people bash me. Even if I'm not her son that's so wrong to say.

"Jill that's it! Shut the hell up or get the hell out of here! I will not just sit here and listen to you degrade my son and his boyfriend! How dare you! I allow you to stay here and you verbally assault my son like that!?" Mom screamed.

Suddenly Tommy bolted outside as everyone got into a huge fight. Mostly everyone was arguing at Jill. Actually, everyone was ganging up on Jill and Danny. They just didn't understand that gays aren't bad. People who hate gays are the bad ones.

"Stop it!" I screamed. "That is enough! Tommy is my boyfriend. I invited him over to spend Thanksgiving and you two decide to attack us?! I expected better from you, at least." I looked at Danny and Jill.

"And you, too! You didn't say one word! You act as if Tommy is just a Matt in disguise! Well he's not! He actually cares about me! Tommy thinks you hate him. That first night he was over you looked at him with distrust in your eyes. Well does he have your trust now!? Huh? Does he!? Getting insulted out of the house! Is that good enough for you!?" I looked at dad with disgust in my eyes. Everything I just said was true. He sat there with his jaw hanging down. His face turned pale. The whole family fell silent and just stared at me and him. Before he could say anymore I stormed out of the house after Tommy. I felt so embarrassed for the ay they treated him.

"Tommy...I'm so sorry. I didn't know she'd do any of that."

"It's alright Jared. Your right, it's not like you planned this. I'm sorry I ruined things today." He started crying lightly as he fell into my arms.

"Oh no Tommy, you didn't ruin anything. I had a great time with you today. And I really enjoyed your cooking. Really, you're super good." I said pulling him back and looking him in the eyes.

"Thanks Jared. You always know how to make me feel better. Should we go back?"

"No, lets just sit here and watch the sun go down for a while babe. They can handle things on their own."

We sat down the street form the house at a small park for the neighborhood kids. A cool breeze blew past us. It was a beautiful ending to a semi-good day.
