Chapter 7.

Sunday. Normally a day Kyle liked to kind of use to relax for the next day of school. His parents weren't big on church, but they'd instilled an idea that Sunday WAS a good day to recharge for the coming week. So normally he'd just relax, go over his homework, maybe hang out with friends, but nothing REALLY big. No amusement parks, no yard work, nothing like that. Just a day to relax. It really did help monday not seem so bad.

But this Sunday was different. He'd gotten up and checked his email, then he'd called Jason, who was being dragged to church by his aunt and mom. he'd wished Jason had said soemthing last night at the pizza place before they'd dropped him off.

And now he was being a hero, he thought as he soared over the ocean blue. He'd stopped at several islands in the south pacific, helping clean up and dig out survivors of another psunami. It was awesome to see the faces of those he'd saved. he'd had to hold back tears several times as he'd pulled up large walls, and pieces of debris as he'd helped.

So now after helping that island, he'd grabbed a map and soared off to the next island to help. It was amazing how calm and peaceful the air over the open ocean was. the bright sun reflecting off the water, the air over his face. All of it was awesome.

Soon in the distance he spotted a small dot on the horizon. must be my next stop, he thought as he zoomed low above the water, playfully leaving a wake of foam and wetness behind him. Fuck it was great to be able to fly.

Coming to what remained of a harbor, he found nothing but devestation. He saw people working, and digging, and he saw several units of relief agencies working as well. Kyle felt a wave of hope and respect washing over him as he landed.

The first time he'd done it, he felt self conscious as the people had stared at him. now he was getting better with dealing with the mixed looks of fear and wonder as he walked to the first building and began to remove large walls of debris.

The work was going smoothly and he'd even developed some great working skills with the locals. once they saw what he could do, they'd help him. he'd grab something big and pull it up, then they'd jump in and help who ever was there, then he'd drop the item.

"Hello!!" a voice called out to him as he was working. english? Kyle turned to see an older man, in a loose shirt and pants. he was balding on top, and looked as if he really needed a hat.

"Oh hello." Kyle replied, offering his hand.

"Well you certainly have been blessed with some extrodinary abilities." The man said, shaking his hand with a firm handshake.. Kyle blushed. it wasn't like he'd asked for them.

"I guess." he said, feeling embarrassed. "I sorta just... fell into them."

"Nonsense. you are the boy that walked into the reactor are you not?" He countered.

"Yes. But.." Kyle replied, suddenly feeling very modest. Why was this man talking to him like this?

"Well, I would love to speak with you more after the clean up." he said, then went back to work.

All through the rescue and clean up effort, Kyle thought. Did the man want something? probably. was it for his relief agency? if it was Kyle would probably do it. But what if it was something else? He wouldnt. do it. but still, all of a sudden his entire mind was very confused about what that man wanted.

But Kyle forgot about that when he suddenly realized that some local news had somehow arrived on the island, and was now interviewing the local relief crews. Damn it. Kyle didn't want to be interviewed. But he couldn't leave the island. not tell he got more stuff done. This super hero business was harder than he thought. he knew that he couldn't be everywhere, but at the same time, it was hard. he'd also learned another thing while working today. working was a great way of letting someone think.

He'd had lots of time to think. about himself, this hero thing, Jason. it was all so muddled. being a hero was fun, but he knew he couldnt' be everywhere at once, and he knew that he needed to accept that before doing this anymore, or the sense of failure would crush him. he'd read enough comics to know how super heros felt about that kind of thing. super man.. all of them. And Superman had super hearing so he had a better way of helping. All Kyle had was internet, and any news breaking stories.

Kyle was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didnt' hear the news anchor person trying to talk to him the first time. Startled, he turned around, to see a news camera crew in his face. Suprisingly, this was some brittish news woman from some cable channel.

"I'm here on the spot with the current News item. Sir may I ask you a few questions?" she asked, and Kyle was impressed she had restrained her eagerness. Any reporter would die to interview him, he guessed.

"I guess. I mean.. we are trying to get things done here." Kyle gestured at the mess. yes, he'd been working very fast, but still so much to be done.

"Right." she said, not flustered in the least bit. "First, did you save the shuttle? people are still out on that one."

"yes." Kyle nodded, hands in his pockets, nervous. Why did he

not wear a shirt today? because he'd wanted to show off his chest. And

now he was on international news.. in his levi cut offs and mask.

"And wear do you get these super powers?" She asked him. He'd been wondering that himself.

"well to tell you the truth.."

"from God." A voice interrupted. huh? Kyle turned to see the volunteer worker standing there.

The newswoman looked flustered, then recovered while the camera turned to the man. "And I'm also here with Mr. Robert DelFurio, who's head of the branch of the red cross here helping the relief effort." She introduced. "Now as I was asking.. where do your powers come from?" She asked again to Kyle, who was happy to have a name to the old man's face.

"well, I really don't know. I found that I had them several weeks ago." Kyle explained, as he watched the face of Mr. Delfurio blink, then correct itself.

"Well God works in mysterious ways. But I can definitely say he has a purpose for you." Delfurio replied. "just as he has a purpose for all of us."

the newswoman looked perturbed. "So you really don't know?" she asked.

Kyle hesitated. how would it sound to the world if he explained what had happened? Oh well. might as well get it done now.

"Well see, I was hiking in the mountains." he began.

Jason was watching TV, when an international news bulletin came on about an eyewitness interview being broad cast live curtesy of some cable channel feed.

There on the screen was the boy. Jason sat down, next to his aunt and mother who were talking about it.

"First, did you save the shuttle? people are still out on that one." Jason watched the boy figit nervously, then reply yes.

"And wear do you get these super powers?" She asked him. he looked quite uncomfortable as he replied.

"well to tell you the truth.."

"From God." A voice interrupted. huh? Jason watched as the cameraman swung around to see a older looking fellow, balding, and had a quite look of excitment on his face.

The newswoman looked annoyed. "And I'm also here with Mr. Robert DelFurio, who's head of the branch of the red cross here helping the relief effort." She introduced. "Now as I was asking.. where do your powers come from?" She asked again to the boy, who looked just as confused.

"Well, I really don't know. I found that I had them several weeks ago." The boy explained. Jason wasn't sure but he thought that red cross guy looked angry for a moment.

"Well God works in mysterious ways. But I can definitely say he has a purpose for you." Delfurio replied. "just as he has a purpose for all of us."

"oh please." his aunt huffed.

"SHH!!" he shushed her. he wanted to hear what the boy had to say, and wished he could tape this. perhaps he could download it later and enjoy staring at the boys shirtless body.

the newswoman looked perturbed. "So you really don't know?" she asked. Jason watched the boy looking quite uncertain as he thought.

"well see, I was hiking in the mountains." he began. "and I found this cave, that I'd never seen before. I went inside.. I know that much. then I woke up outside. near where the cave HAD been."

"So this cave. what was inside?" she asked. a cave? wow. the boy gulped. "well I know this sounds really really stupid, but I don't remember. it goes blank. i'm outside the cave, going in, then Im out- side again."

"and did you not go back?" she asked.

"the cave wasn't there after. and while I can use this.." Jason watched with tingles in his back as the boy flared that aura thing around his fists, " I didnt' want to destroy anything that might have been there."

"Well that seems to be an.. interesting story." she said, and Jason was sure she wasn't impressed. fuck, he wasn't impressed. It was the lamest super power story he'd heard. But the boy had a nice body, similar to his and Kyle's.

"Look, no offense. But we have work to do." he finished, then turned away from the camera to begin levitating large chunks of debris with his aura.

"Can you believe he's real!??" Jason said excitedly to his mom and aunt who were looking just as stunned.

"well apparently he is." his mother said, giving him a strange look. But jason didn't care. There was a Real superhero. no doubts, no one could argue it.

"kind of a lame story for his powers though," Shannon said. "I mean who doesn't know where they get their powers?" she asked. "But he does have a nice body for a boy."

"I guess so." Jason said before he could stop himself. was he talking about the powers or the body? Suddenly he didn't know. The boy was good looking. but he wasn't Kyle. Jason was probably so far out of that boy's league it wasn't funny.

"speaking of boys, where is that Kyle friend of yours?" asked his aunt. Ever since she'd heard about Kyle she'd been encouraging him to hang out with him.

"He went out after he found out we where going to church." Jason moped. Why his aunt and mom had dragged him along he didn't know, but by the time he'd gotten home, Kyle was out skateboarding or something.

"Oh dear. I wanted you to get out and meet some of the kids at the church." his aunt defended. Jason felt bad as she really seemed like she was sorry. Kyle liked his aunt. she was more laid back than his mom. she had on levi shorts, and a yellow tank top that seemed to fit her personality completely.

His mother on the other hand, didn't. She was dressed very modest all the time. "It's just one friend you missed. And didn't you tell me that you'd met some new kids at church?" his mother asked. yeah. as if they counted.

"I guess so." It was that stupid girl from school. he didn't like her. she'd immediately attacked his hair again, and tried to cozy up to him all through the class.

Then there was that wierd preacher's kid. he was like so brain- washed it wasn't even funny.

"what about that Dave boy?" Dave, that was it. Jason didn't like him. He knew every answer to the questions, and came off as kinda preachy.

"I don't know. I didn't like him much." Jason said. screw this. He got up and decided he'd go out on his skateboard. *************

Who was this guy? and why was he so.. stupid? Everytime Kyle found a way to get away from this guy, he'd show up again, having something to do in the area.

"So what do you want?" Kyle asked, finally having enough of this guy following him around. Obviously the man wanted something. he'd been going on about charity, service, and other things.

"I just wonder if you realize that these are the end of days?" the man asked. end of days? oh yeah. Kyle saw that movie. it was kind of stupid.

"I saw that movie. it was dumb." Kyle replied. The man gave him a look of irritation.

"And not what I am speaking of at all. The bible indicates horrible natural disasters and nightmarish wars will bear down upon this world with unrelenting fury."

"you mean more of this will happen?" Kyle asked, indicating the destroyed buildings, and working natives. it impressed Kyle how well everyone was pulling together.

"Yes. but one must not worry, for He who guides all is in control." the man replied as he continued to dig. at least he helped. Kyle had to give that much to him. he'd been working nonstop, with only very short breaks, and not too many of them either.

"well I'll help as much as I can. you wouldn't happen to have the time would you?" Kyle asked, wondering what time it was. "I mean new york time." Kyle added, when the man went to look at his watch.

"Well let's see. about 6 oclock." He said. oh shit. Kyle was going to be way late.

"Damn. I gotta go." Kyle said, flaring his energy, and taking off. He looked back to realize he'd put a little too much energy into his take off, and had sent Mr. delfurio reeling into the mud.

"SORRY!!" he yelled behind him, feeling kinda bad. he hadn't meant to do that. well that was enough super heroing for today. he needed to get home and help with dinner.

Jason had been skate boarding around the neighbor hood, his bare chest revealed in the late summer sun with his shirt flapping behind him. He'd been all over, especially Kyle's neighorhood, hoping to find someone to hang with. and hoping that Kyle might be home soon. but no luck. he'd gone by the place several times, and each time Kyle's mom had been very nice, even going so far as to offer him some light snacks.

He wished he could figure out how to deal with his new interest in Kyle. yesterday had been really fun, just being friends. but what if they took it to something different? Jason wasn't sure, but he thought he might be getting something more from Kyle than just let's be friends. but Jason didnt' want to ruin anything.

Finally Jason decided to stop by one more time. feeling kind of dumb, he knocked on the front door. Again. Then after waiting for what seemed like forever, he began walking back down the steps, when the door opened.

"Oh hey Jason." it was Kyle, standing at the door shirtless. "I just got back a while ago." he said, his bare chest just as hot as ever. It took Jason a moment to realize Kyle was addressing him.

"No problem. I've just been exploring the neighborhood." Jason explained. Suddenly he felt very awkward that he'd been by the house that many times.

Kyle scratched his chest absentmindedly. "come on in. or we could go to your place." He offered. " that's funny. I just realized that I haven't been to your house yet." Kyle said with a grin. It was kind of funny. Jason had to agree.

"yeah. lets go." Jason said. Kyle grabbed his skateboard, then they were off, the two boys quite a sexy sight as they rushed down the street, Jason's shirt flapping in the wind, and Kyle's chest glistening in the sun. Of course, neither boy realized that the two together made a hot pair, they only realized that the OTHER one was good looking. *************

Kyle followed Jason into his home, thinking that Jason's aunt must have a nice job. it was white on the outside, had a nice sized garage, and the lawn was kept very well.

"nice house." Kyle said as they walked in, wanting to say something nice.

"Thank you young man." a nice looking woman said. "I do try and keep it up." she grinned. this must be Jason's aunt. Kyle thought.

"you have nice taste in boys, Jason." she said, then laughed at the blush on Jason's face. wait. was she saying that...? or was she just teasing? Kyle wasn't sure.

"yes, they'll both be the lady killers someday." another woman said. she was dressed more modestly, and Kyle guessed she was older than Kyle's aunt.

"oh Kyle. this is my mom. and this is my aunt Shannon." Jason introduced, stilly blushing.

"nice to meet you." Kyle said, suddenly conscious he wasn't wearing a shirt. maybe he could borrow one.

"So I guess you didn't see that news clip about that hero guy did you?" Jason asked, happily changing the subject.

'No. My mom told me about it though. I was just going to download it later off the web." He wondered what Jason had to say about it.

"Yeah let's do that." Jason said excitedly. "It's wierd, cuz he said he doesn't know where he got his powers. he just like woke up with them." interesting. Kyle knew what he said, and already it was kinda being twisted.

"So he just woke up one day and he was hovering over his bed?" Kyle asked, as Jason logged into his computer. His room was the same as Kyle's. messy, and he had several super hero comic posters on his walls.

"Oh no. not like that. he said he found a cave or something. Just watch." Jason pulled up google, and googled for hero news. suddenly several web pages popped up about Kyle, from fans. They had pics, footage, and some had alraedy started making drawings, stories, and animated cartoons.

"Wow. I just used the news sites. I didnt' realize there was a fan base already." Kyle said, feeling a little overwelmed. What had he started?

Kyle sat on the bed and watched the clip, interested in how his aura was going to look. it was strange, as if he was behind some sort of filter. But other than that, nothing was new, until the conversation ended.

The TV news reporter was speaking. "and that's live from an exclusive interview. We now go to several prominent figures who have this to say." Then the clip ended.

"what did they have to say?" Kyle asked, suddenly realizing he'd had his hand on Jason's shoulder the whole time.

"I don't know. that was from a different channel than the one I saw." Jason replied. "but can you believe it?" Jason said, sounding so excited.

"Yeah. a real super hero." Kyle said, feeling just as awed. He was still getting used to the idea that he, in fact, had super powers. and that he'd stopped that reactor, AND he'd helped with the clean up. So it was with that emotion he was feeling that he spoke with.

"I know. oh guess what? lots of sites are taking polls on what his super hero name should be." Jason said, still just as excited. He clicked to another site, where it was flashing a large banner. Kyle quickly looked over the names.

"what kind of name is blue thunder?" Kyle laughed. he didn't even do thunder.

" I think it has to do with the sound thing someone said he left behind." Jason explained. "check this out. super boy." Jason laughed.

"But isn't that copyrighted by DC?" Kyle giggled, flopping on Jason's bed. Kyle liked to stretch, and it showed. and it was nice getting that light musky scent of Jason's body on his sheets.

"Yes it is." Jason said. "but if this guy is worried about copy rights, he's going to have a hard time coming up with a name."

"so what else is there?" Kyle asked, now very interested. he'd not really thought about a name much, but he couldn't just go by boy or that boy.. could he? The boy. hmm. it had a certain ring. like The batman.

"Let's see. blue phoenix, azure phoenix. blue lighting, blue sky. curealean sky." Jason read off. Kyle had to laugh. sure were some funny names. some of them were cool though.

"oh and get this. the government still wants to talk to this guy. they want him to come forward because it's important." Jason said while still surfing.

"Really? does it say why?" Kyle sat up and pulle his legs under him to see the screen better. He'd forgotten all about the government thing. what if it was important?

"Not really. if it was confidential, the government wouldn't want to say it out loud." Jason explained.

"Wow." Kyle scratched his chest absentmindedly as he thought. He wasn't any closer now to knowing why they wanted to talk to him than he was the last time it had been mentioned. The problem was that they hadn't given him any way to talk to them directly, only that they wanted him to come forward. well screw that. He wasn't going to do that unless they gave him better directions.

"I wish I had super powers." Jason sighed, as he watched a vid of Kyle flying through the power plant and busting the doors.

"what would you do?" Kyle asked feeling kinda curious.

"I would.. make sure noone could ever hurt me again." Jason said under his breath. what was that about? Kyle didn't like pain either, but that sounded kinda serious.

"huh?" he asked, just to make sure. Did something happen to Jason at some point? Or was he just being his usual wierd self?

"Oh, I don't know. fly around in the sky, help the people I care about." Jason said, recovering from his weird thought. At least Kyle hoped so.

"What about you?" Jason asked, turning around to stare at Kyle as he stretched out on the bed.

"Flying would be so fun." Kyle said wistfully. Jason had to agree. He hoped Kyle was having fun.. cuz he looked kind of bored, laying out on the bed. suddenly Jason was very selfconscious. what if he WAS bored? what if he was turning into some stupid fan who had nothing better to do?

"so. what do you want to do?" Jason asked.

"huh?" Kyle said, looking confused. Jason loved the way his face ruffled up when he was flustered. but why did it suddenly seem familiar? yeah he'd seen Kyle do it before, but it seemed familiar in a different way.

"Oh. I was just enjoying laying here.. and listening about the hero stuff." Kyle said. really? he liked doing this? sweet. But Jason eyeballed him, just to make sure he wasn't lying. then he realized that Kyle was lying on his bed with no shirt on. oh fuck. that thought made Jason almost instant bone. Yep. he definitely liked Kyle.

Jason turned back, and flapped his bare chest, thinking he it was hot. "So. what else you wanna hear?" he asked. he'd gotten several different copies of the power plant footage, each from different new sources, all with slight different angles, and ideas on this hero. He'd downloaded several segments on what different religons were saying, and articles he'd saved. and that wasn't the half of it. not even a quarter.

"What do you have?" Kyle asked eagerly. " I didnt' realize there would be so much."

"Of course. You know how many comic book fans are following this dude?" Jason replied. He had several articles from different comic sites, discussing this kids angles, his views, how it would affect government, religion etc.

"I guess I didn't think about it. so what DO you have?" Kyle asked.

"lots of stuff. several different versions of the power plant. all from different stations. its wierd how they play up different angles. I'm working on downloading some different versions of the disaster aid right now." Jason continued.. his throbbing hard on gone in the excitement. "I've got some discussions on how this will affect religion, I've got several articles on the same thing.. articles on his angles. "

"wow." Kyle said. "you really are following him. well you got the computer down. maybe I can work on a scrap book or something?" he offered. Jason was taken by surprise.

" so why do you like him?" Jason asked, wondering why Kyle would be so interested.

"He IS the FIRST superhero ever." Kyle said as if it should be obvious.

"Yeah. but if he is real, what about all those like ancient myths and things?" Jason argued. He'd been reading up, and several internet articles had spawned some interesting debates over the fact that if THIs boy was real, it stood to reason that ancient myth may not be as wrong as previously thought.

"what about them?" Kyle asked.

"well if this guy can fly, and do super hero things.. maybe some ancient myths aren't so unreasonable." Jason explained. " If this kid can catch a shuttle and save it.. Hercules can definitely do some of the things he did."

Kyle looked thoughtful as he rolled over to stretch out on his bare stomach. Jason took the opportunity to stare at Kyle's shapely back, and his bare legs. Jason felt a shiver run through him.

"Maybe. But I don't remember any specific myths do what this boy can do." Kyle replied after a moment.

"I guess so." Jason admitted, wanting to cuddle up behind the boy on the bed. He was so cute. Jason turned back to the computer to hide his regrowing hard on.

Thinking that more news might calm him down, he went back to MSN. oh wow. "check this out Kyle." Jason said. the web page had come up with more news about the ocean quake. secondary tremors were going off, with an expected tidal wave reaching more of the islands.

"Wow. That will be horrible." Jason said, feeling a strange tingle of quiet distress.

"Yeah. Look, I just remembered something. I should probably be getting back home." Kyle replied, sounding kinda stressed. "sorry. I'll call you when I can." he added as he rolled off the bed.

"Um ok. Keep up on this new tidal wave." Jason replied. But Kyle was already in the hall way.

"Bye." Jason said quietly to the door.

OH!! before I end this chapter. I need feed back. Kyle needs a super hero name!! any feed back plz tell me. Thanks!! I think I have some Im working on. not sure yet. In any case. thats all for now!!
