AUTHOR's WORDS: After the ahem demise of JC Dreams, so many people asked me to keep writing and so I shall. Well, here's the start of another series, about JC. It's going to be, again, dedicated to Brendon... I know JC Dreams was, but this is going to be just as much his story as well.

FEEDBACK: jellybeanking@hotmail.com

AUTHOR THANKS: Nifty... all I can thank at the moment - no one else has written in on this one... though I should thank the readers who have followed me across. Of course, I can't go without thanking my twin for all his help, love and companionship over the voyage of the net. Evan, I don't know what to say, a friend until the last.

DEDICATION: This series is dedicated to Brendon Alexander James. 10 - January 1980 to 20 - August - 2000. Eternal rest grant unto him Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace. Amen.

Hearts of Ash 03

All the way to dinner, the group travelled in silence. JC finally spoke up

"Guys, if you don't mind, Asher and I are going to eat alone tonight." Chris looked at JC and cocked his head, eyebrow arched. Though he stayed silent, there were a million questions he would have liked to have asked. The others all just nodded, not asking, not commenting. Asher looked out the window as the scenery went by. Asher felt a little less uncomfortable though an unsettling sadness echoed throughout his entire being. As though he was now missing an arm or leg and was no longer about to function properly. JC sat back, quietly observing Asher in his silence. Joey looked at the pair and wondered what kind of relationship was developing between the two. Lance didn't give it a whole lot of thought as he was busy concentrating on the road, while Justin quietly sat there watching Asher. To him, Asher was a nice looking guy, but was he and JC doing something that normally wouldn't be seen on the disney channel. Chris had given up on thinking purely because he knew it would drive him mad. He'd get a chance to discuss it with the guys when they pulled over to let JC out.

Finally, Asher broke out of his pity and mourning trance and looked at where they were, he called out to Lance.

"Can you pull over here please? There's a nice place to eat just around here." Lance nodded and pulled over to the kerb where both JC and Asher climbed out of the mini bus. Closing the door JC looked in and spoke to Justin.

"I'll catch a cab home Juju." Justin nodded and smiled.

"Okay, well have fun and I'll see you in the morning." JC nodded and turned and stood beside Asher.

"Ready to go?" He asked. Asher smiled and nodded his head. The pair walked off.

As the other four drove off, they all started to speak at once, apart from Lance, who was still watching the road.

"What do you think the deal is?"

"Didn't Asher's boyfriend have cancer?"

"How long have they known each other?"

"Do you think they'll get it on?"

"Did you see the way JC looked at him?" All the questions tumbeled out of them until Lance finally called out to them.

"You guys gossip more than Britney and Christina when they're together." Lance told them. The other three fell into silence. Lance continued

"Also, if something is going on between them, shouldn't we be supporting them. Even though it is none of our business. Besides, I thought JC was straight."

"But hanging around with a gay guy?" Asked Justin dubiously.

"Why not? They're just other people." Chris commented. Justin shrugged and said nothing more. They all returned to their own thoughts and said nothing more.

JC and Asher made their way along the street, neither one game enough to talk first. Walking in silence, JC figuring out how to be a friend for someone who had just lost a loved one. Asher walked along tryng to figure out how to talk to an international superstar. Eventually they walked into a nearby resteraunt and were led to a back table at JC's request. Sitting down, JC looked over the table at Asher.

"So how are you feeling at the moment?" Asked JC.

"Like the person I loved more than life has just died on me." He said sadly. JC looked down at the table feeling foolish. Asher put his hand out and touched JC on the arm.

"Thanks for asking though, it means something to know that I have a friend who cares." JC looked up at Asher and smiled sweetly.

"Glad to know I can help..." JC was going to continue when the waitress walked up with menus in hand.

"Good evening, my name is Tracey and ... you're JC!" She squealed. JC's head snapped up as she started to squeal.

"Please keep it down, I'm out to dinner with a friend and not wanting to widly advertised." He told her. Tracey stopped squealing and looked down embaressed.

"When we order, give me something and I'll sign it for you." JC smiled. Tracey nodded, deposited the menus on the table and walked away quickly. Asher looked at JC.

"You get that a lot?" He asked. JC nodded and sighed.

"Fame... everyone knows you and never leaves you alone. That's why I hate fame, I mean, I love and adore the fans, but I don't have a personal life anymore. Sometimes, I close my eyes and wish it all away, just so I could have a normal life and find a nice guy and settle down. It's never likely to happen though because I always wonder if they are in the relationship for feelings or for cash. It's a totally miserable way to be." Asher nodded, he couldn't understand what JC could be feeling, but he knew the feeling of being alone very well.

Tracey came back and took their orders and JC, as promised, signed a small note book for her. Asher and JC sat there looking at each other again, a steady silence between them. Asher suddnely spoke up.

"What's really upsetting me, I don't think I can really feel pain for losing Rob. I've been dreading this day for so long, I can't feel pain. Sure it hurts that he's gone and sure I still love him, but I can't feel any pain over what has happened."

"Sounds like what someone would say if they were getting over him." JC commented quietly. Asher;s head jerked up.

"How could I be getting over him, he only died this morning." JC blushed.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say it out loud or to upset you but that's what it sounds like to me." Asher looked down then back up.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I think I am getting over him. Looking back, I think I've been getting over him since he was diagnosed. I stayed because I loved him. I never wanted it to end, but it has and that's just something that I have to live with now I guess." JC nooded and half smiled, taking Asher's hand.

"From dust and ashes we rise, to dust and ashes we return, waiting for the heart to realise where it really stands." Asher looked at JC tearily.

"And from Ash our hearts are made."

After they finished eatting, JC went and paid then headed off with Asher at his side. They walked for a time and talked a little. Eventually Jc flagged down a cab and he and Asher climbed into the back.

"Would you like to stay at my place tonight?" Asked Asher aand JC at the same time. They looked at each other and laughed. Asher repeated himself and JC looked at him.

"I certainly would." JC told him, concern in his eye. He still wasn't sure that Asher wouldn't do something stupid in the night, despite their talk of how he seemed to be over Rob. Pulling up at Asher's, JC paid the driver and tipped him and got out of the car.

Once they were inside, Asher went around and turned on a few lights, then led JC into the lounge room. They both sat down on the couch and started to talk. As they talked, Asher could feel himself moving closer to JC and he could have sworn, JC was moving closer to him.

"Josh, what is going on with us?" Asher asked out of the blue.

"What do you mean? We're sitting here talking." JC told him confused.

"What I mean is, you've taken me to dinner, we've come back here to my place. What is going on with us? I will be honest and say I ferel attracted to you." JC looked at Asher.

"Well I'd be lying if I said I didn't find you attractive to me either, but I don't know that this is really..." JC's words were cut off as his mouth was covered by Asher's.

--- Well, there's chapter 3, disgustingly short I know, but that's life now deal with it. Love yas, and feedback pappreciated. SunChild.
