Heart Breaking Love 8
Beau sat on my bed, his back against the wall. My head lay on his chest. He sipped at a beer I snuck from my dad, giving me a taste every now and then.
"You know Beau, we really don't have any friends." I said. He grunted.
"Your former friends are assholes." He replied.
I sighed. "Yeah, I guess. I gotta go to the bathroom. I'll be right back." I got up from the bed and made my way to the bathroom across the hall. After flushing and washing my hands I walked back. As I opened the door, I walked forward and the doorframe hit my eye.
"Ow!" I cried out. Beau shot up from the bed and was immediately at my side. I cradled my eye as it swelled.
"Are you okay babe?" He said, removing my hand and assessing the damage. He clicked his tongue.
"Doesn't look too bad. Let's go get you some ice." Beau led me to the kitchen. He found a ziplock bag under the sink and filled it with ice. I held it against my eye. My mom walked in at that moment.
"What happened?" She said, tenderly removing the pack.
"I accidentally hit myself with the door." I said.
"Oh." She seemed disinterested almost immediately. She looked at Beau and made a face.
"It's getting late, why don't you go home Beau." It was more of a statement rather than a question.
"But mama, it's only 8:30!" I protested.
"Well I'm sure Beau's father is worried." She retorted. I was about to argue back, but Beau placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Your mom is right Aiden. I should be getting back. I'll see you tomorrow morning. I love you." Beau kissed me and quickly left. My mom glared at him until he disappeared into the night. She turned to me.
"How can you still be with him? After everything he's done?"
"I love him." I said quietly.
"Hmph!" She huffed and walked away. I sighed and went back to my room and sat on my bed, alone. **********
Beau had to complete a test in math, so I sat alone during lunch. I sat and leaned against the wall where we usually ate. I plugged in my ear buds and picked through my food. I was so engrossed in my menial task of sorting fries that I didn't notice Wade walking up to me. But I did notice his shadow looming over my food. I looked up, he looked down. I paused my music and unplugged my ear buds.
"Hi Aiden." I immediately shot up with my backpack, my food forgotten. I began walking away.
"Aiden! Wait!" Wade called. He grabbed my hand and spun me around. "Just listen, ok?" I sighed. "What is it Wade?"
"I'm sorry Aiden." He said tearfully. His eyes turned red as he went on, "I didn't mean to make you hurt yourself... I... Still love you." I bit my lip and looked at him. . "I should be the one apologizing. I kissed Beau whilewe were together. I made my own choices... I'm just sorry that I hurt you."
"Did you ever love me?" He asked.
"Yes." I replied, lifting my head to look him in the eye.
"Do you still love me?" I looked away, and hesitated for a moment.
"Do you still love me?" He pressed. I nodded.
"But I love Beau too." I said sadly. "I love you both." Wade growled, "I hate him."
"Don't say that! It's not his fault. It's mine."
"Aiden! There's so much you don't understand about him!"
"Then why don't you make me understand?" I asked quietly. He at looked me for a few seconds, then looked down.
"I love you." Wade said. I sighed and walked away, leaving him there.
Beau led the way to the last row in the theater. There weren't many people and they were all concentrated towards the first row. Beau and I were quite alone. I didn't pay much attention to the movie. It was some modern attempt to recreate the old western movies. For some unfathomable reason, Beau loved these kinds of stuff. He held me close but didn't pay me much attention except to hurry me along to the bathroom so I wouldn't block the screen for too long. When the movie was finally done, he hurried me along to the food court.
"I'm hungry!" Beau announced.
I looked at him in disbelief.
"What?" He asked innocently.
"You've just eaten a tub of popcorn! How can you still be hungry?"
He smiled and brought me in close.
"I've been looking at your lips." I blushed and pulled away. I took him by his hand and began pulling him to food court.
"I love you." Beau said. I turned my head back and smiled, "I love you too."
After eating some junk food, and Beau complaining about his stomach being too full, we decided to head home. It was dark out, reminding me of the first time Beau and I kissed. "Do you remember that first night?" I asked him. "The time we...?" He made obscene gestures with his fingers. "No! Geez. I meant the first time we kissed!" "Oh! Oh... Yeah." He chuckled. "What movie was it?" "I think it was... Catching Fire?" I said with uncertainty. "No, it was a horror flick cuz you were hanging onto my arm for dear life." "Was not!" I said defensively. "Did too love!" He laughed and gave me a kiss. "I don't mind though. I like being your hero." I smiled up at him and held his hand as we walked towards his car. He opened the door for me and I slid in. "Such a gentleman." I giggled. Beau got behind the wheel and looked at me. "Insidious." He said. "Huh?" "That's what we saw. Insidious." Beau said smiling. "Oh! It was, wasn't it?" "Yep." He nodded. He started the car and pulled out of the lot. As we began the drive home, we chatted about everything that's happened in our lives so far. I looked at him sadly. "Doesn't like very bright, does it?" "It will." He said, "There's ALWAYS a light at the end of the tunnel." "I guess... But it doesn't seem like it. My mom honestly hates you. I've got no friends. Everybody loved Wade and I hurt him badly. Now I'm public enemy #1." "Don't worry babe. I promise everything will be better. The end of the year is almost over, then I'll be a senoir and you'll be a junior. Just a month away. With new years come change. Maybe we can even get the rents to transfer us to a new school then." I nodded. "That'd be nice. We could get away from everything there." "Then it's decided!" He said with a smile. I giggled at his enthusiasm. "Well what if my parents don't let me?" He groaned. "No more negativity!" "Alright alright. I'll try to be more positive." "Good boy." We drove for a few more minutes in silence. It wasn't uncomfortable though. I liked it. Then Beau started swerving the car. "What's wrong?" I asked in alarm. "The guy behind, keeps trying to..." He trailed off, focusing on the road. I looked behind us. The car kept darting forward as if to hit us, then going back. Then suddenly, it just rammed into us. Beau's car just lurched forward and we lost control . It spun around and hit another car. At some point, we ended up upside down. Screeches of tires filling the air and the beating of my heart sounding like the mad beating of drums. I felt something drop down from my forehead and then my vision began to dim. I had trouble focusing, but I could hear people outside shouting. "Are you ok?" I heard to my a voice to my right ask. Before I could answer, darkness swept over me and my vision went black. ************ For the second time in my life, I woke up in a hospital. My mom was there and so was my father. But otherwise, we were alone. As soon as they saw my eyes darting around the hospital room, taking it all in, they rushed to me. They were crying and talking at once. I was soon gifted with water and was hydrated enough to speak. "What happened?" I asked slowly. Then I began remembering the accident. I tried to quickly sit up but my father held me down. "You need to rest!" He said. "Where's Beau?" I asked. My parents both looked away from me. My heart began to sink. "Where... Where's Beau?" "Mijo," my mom began, "Shh, it'll be alright." "Where's Beau?!" I screamed more loudly. I tried to resist against my father and felt tubes and needles coming out of my body. "Nurse!" My mom called. The nurse came in and injected me with something. Soon my shouts become whispers. "Where's Beau..." As the blackness clouded my vision a second time, I saw the look of pity in my mom's eye. Where's Beau?
