CHAPTER FIVE
"Carrie knows your gay?" Todd asked, not sure if he had heard what Keith had said.
Keith just nodded his head.
"How," Todd asked. His head was starting to pound from all the alcohol he had drank and he wasn't sure if he could stay awake for very much longer.
"She kinda figured it out on her own," Keith replied, "especially when I was kind of unable to fuck her, at first I thought she would be pissed off and would tell the whole world I was gay, but she kinda just laughed it off and said that know she didn't have to worry about putting out just because it was what I wanted. We agreed to stay boyfriend and girlfriend, to at least protect my image, even though we probably never will have sex..."
"Do you love her?" Todd asked, unsure of what Keith's answer was gonna be.
"Yeah," Keith said, "I do love her, and would do anything for her, but I am not in love with her." There was a complete silence in the room, when Keith said, "I am in love with somebody else."
Todd quietly asked, "Who?"
Keith leaned into Todd and softly said, "You."
Their lips touched for the first time, as the electricity flowed between them. It was the first time that either one of them had kissed another man, but Keith knew beyond a shadow of a doubt it was a million times better then any kiss he had ever recieved from any girl, and knew deep down in his heart that he had found the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He was about to go in for another kiss, when he noticed that Todd's eyes were closed, and he was breathing steadily. He's passed out, Keith thought, too much to drink. He took off Todd's shoes and socks, marveling at the beauty of his feet, just the right amount of hair on his toes, just like the rest of him, Keith though his feet were the most beautiful feet in the world. He took off his own shoes and socks and fell asleep right next to Todd. They didn't touch or anything, but just the closeness of Todd, helped Keith have the best night's sleep he had ever had.
Todd opened his eyes slowly. The whole night before was kinda fuzzy, he remembered going to Sinclair's party. He remember, oh my god, he thought, the blue pullover and who was wearing it.
He remembered his reaction to it, and how easily Keith pushed it aside, he even remembered the first Cannon, but after that nothing. His head was pounding something fierce, and it felt like he had swollowed a whole bunch of sand, not to mention the burning sensation in his chest. He knew without a doubt he was hungover. He noticed he had on all his clothes expect for his shoes and socks, and began to wonder how he had got home. Did he drive, well if he did, then he thought that was kinda stupid. He stretched, got out of the bed, and walked into the bathroom to get himself a couple of Tylenol for his headache, and an alka-seltzer for his quessy stomach and heartburn. He couldn't quite remember all what he had drank, but knew if he had heartburn then Tequila was involved somewhere. He popped the Tylenol and drank down the alka-seltzer, checked his face in the mirror, splashed it with water and then stepped back into his bedroom.
"Fuck," he said, when he saw Kieth sitting on the edge of his bed, putting on his socks.
Keith laughed, "Boy, I hope you don't feel as bad as you look."
"Do I look that bad?" Todd asked.
"You know that old saying about falling off the wagon," Keith said, "Well I think you fell off the wagon, and it backed up to see what fell off and ran over you."
"What happened?" Todd asked.
Keith looked at him. "Do you remember anything about last night?"
"It's all kinda fuzzy. I remember the most important thing though," he said.
"What?" Keith asked.
"Blue Pullover and that you were wearing it," Todd said, a smile sneaking across his face." "I don't remember coming home then, did you drive me?"
"Sure did bud," Keith said, "Do you remember what happend after we got here?"
"Nothing," Todd said.
He didn't remember the conversations they had, he didn't remember Keith telling him that Carrie knew he was gay, he didn't remember talking about his homophobic father. But what hurt Keith the most was he couldn't even remember the most magical moment in Keith's entire life up to that point. He couldn't even remember one fucking kiss. Keith grabbed his wallet from the nightstand, he didn't want to turn around he didn't want for Todd to see him cry, and headed towards the door. He was about to reach the door, when he felt a hand touch his shoulder and turn him around.
"What's wrong," Todd said, "did I say something to make you mad, or is it...something happened last night that your upset about...did we..."
"No," Keith said, "we didn't have sex, hell you passed out on me, even though I don't think that sex was an option last night."
"Then why are you upset?" Todd asked
Keith ripped Todd's hand from his shoulder and said, "We kissed okay, and it was the most magical moment of my life, and you were so goddamn drunk that you can't remember it. I thought that it meant something to you too, but I quess it really didn't."
Todd started laughing, "come on bro, hell Prince William could have kissed me and I wouldn't have remembered it, but I can assure you I will remember this."
They kissed for the second time, and it was a trillion times...no infinity to the second power...better then the first time. The taste was a million times better then butter toffee Ice cream, which just happened to be Todd's favorite thing to eat. Better then the fourth of July and Christmas rolled into one. It was magical and powerful, and they both knew at that moment that they had taken the step beyond friendship into something that neither one of them could deny.
"Keith," Todd said, "I think I love you."
"I don't think I love you," Keith said, "I know I love you."
They were about to kiss again, when their was a loud rap on the door.
