MAX
"God fucking dammit!" I shouted as I pounded my fists on the wall of our new safe house after a 5-hour drive in which nobody spoke a word. I personally just didn't see the point of going out of our way to stay safe anymore. They have Jordan!
"Max it's okay, we'll get him back, Sarah is working hard on locating him" reassured Dylan trying to defuse my anger.
"If he's not dead already then he'll be one of them by the time he gets his powers," I crudely said not really thinking. A gush of heat and pain swarmed to the back of my head, I lost my balance and fell to the floor to see Dylan looking down at me.
"You're giving up on him already? You're going to give up on another Giagm again?" Dylan yelled red with rage, how dare he bring her up!
While standing up I shot a streak of purple light into his chest knocking him through a wall – well, he would've gone through a wall had he not teleported behind me and put me in a headlock.
"Do you even care about him?" He said tightening his grip around my neck.
"Of course I do but it's hopeless I yelled back," as I grabbed hold of Dylan's arm and sent a surge of entropic energy into his veins causing him to let go of me and fall to the floor.
"We owe him!" Dylan shouted at me as I stood over him trying to figure out if I needed to hurt him more, but he was right, I was not prepared to sit back and let them take another person I care about. Although, I'm not going to let Dylan know that he is right, his ego being as huge as it is.
Sarah walked in at the perfect time. I thought she would have stopped our mini-scrap in a telekinetic manner but surprisingly she didn't, she just muttered 6 words.
"I know where they have Jordan"
You could momentarily have seen me relax as a flicker of hope ignited within me.
"Dylan, get your head together" Sarah said, "you are going to have to teleport us there."
We all stood in a triangle, readying ourselves and connecting our hands.
Sarah then spoke looking at Dylan and me very seriously. "Be alert. Guards will be in the room with him. Dylan, go straight for Jordan and get him out of there as quickly as possible" Sarah ordered. And I thought I was supposed to be the leader.
Dylan and I nodded at each other and in a flash we were dragged through piercing light and ending up in a dark cave-like prison cell. 3 guards were surrounding a metal table with Jordan sprawled across it. He had a number of lashes, bruises and deep cuts across his body and a machine beside the table was pumping black blood into him! Oh god we were too late. Jordan was twitching with a glazed look in his eyes.
It all happened very fast. We split up. I concentrated on my arms, which sprouted long, purple psionic-like blades that reached over my hands and plunged them into the nearest abominations back alerting the other two who were enjoying the pain-stricken Giagm on the table.
"Dylan! Get Jordan!" I shouted he took hold of Jordan's lifeless body and flashed away, an abomination had struck him with something just before he left and in the corner of my eye I saw Sarah pinned up against a wall and fire from the walls begin to seep towards her.
JORDAN
I couldn't feel anything; my entire body was numb with pain. The weight of my body was gone and I could no longer hear the spitting flames around the walls and the abominations talking in a strange language. I tried to open my eyes but only one successfully opened since the other was punched so hard I could not move it. My vision was blurry and all I could make out was a figure holding my shoulders, his lips were moving but I couldn't hear anything. I slowly craned my head around to find myself sitting up against a wall in a house I did not recognise.
"Jordan! Can you hear me? Jordan?" A voice seeped into my brain as my vision cleared enough to see Dylan was holding me up with one arm below me and one arm on my shoulder. Blood was trickling down the side of his face and curled around his perfect lips.
"Wh-wh" I tried speaking but pain ripped into my throat as I tried.
"It's okay Jordan you're at our safe house. I need to go get Max and Sarah so just hold on," he said setting me down on a chair and flashing away. My eyes grew heavy again as I tried to cling onto consciousness. I couldn't make out what was real and what wasn't and passed out trying to think.
Get him onto the bed I heard someone say. Two people were carrying me, fast and I felt the cold linen sheets hit my back as they lowered me.
We need to stitch these wounds I heard Dylan say in a panic. Dylan knelt beside the bed and I felt his hands moving around my torso looking for injuries. Max left the room and returned quickly with things clattering around in his hands.
"Okay" Max said as he sat on the other side of the bed and set his equipment down. "Jordan, you are badly hurt and we have to stitch up your wounds. This is going to hurt a bit Jordan, Dylan hold his arms for me."
"You said that about the process of getting my powers" I whimpered sarcastically. I readied myself for the needle pierce through my skin, though nothing could compare with the pain I had just been through. Dylan stood up and wandered to behind the bed taking hold my arms and holding them firmly against my chest. One of Max's hands held my hip to still me and slowly began to sew me together again like a broken teddy bear. Having a needle weave threw me still hurt enough to make me wince, and if I had the strength, I would have tried to shake them both off of me.
I slipped in and out of consciousness again and again until finally they were finished and let go of my hip and arms. I opened my eyes to see Max seated at the end of the bed looking solemnly out of the window.
"Max?" I croaked out, immediately he stood and moved his chair closer to my head.
"You okay?" He asked as he ran his fingers through my hair and felt my forehead with the back of his hand.
"I'm feeling just super" I said sarcastically while trying to force a smile but struggled to move the muscles in my face.
My mind was still trying to catch up with what had happened. I was still having trouble trying to identify whether being relentlessly tortured with knives, whips and the black liquid had actually happened. But it must have, or I would be able to feel my body.
"You have been out for 4 days now Jordan" He looked at me and smiled "it's okay you're back now and completely safe" he said as he moved his hand to the side of my face stroking my cheek lightly.
"I'm so sorry" I blubbered. "I shouldn't have broken off from the group, You would all be okay if it wasn't for me." Tears began to gather which stung my eyes.
"No-no-no" Max said as he moved closer. "I made the mistake and I lost hope. I thought that I'd lost you and I gave up too easily." he explained.
"B-but if I...-" I began to argue but was interrupted by Max pressing his lips onto mine while caressing my face. He put both hands on my face and angled my head to kiss me more deeply. I let out a small croak and moaned as he pulled away and gave me a reassuring look.
"Get some sleep okay? You need more rest" he whispered as he let go of my face, walked outside and closed the door.
Oh my god that was amazing. His kiss took a large portion of pain away, and the images of being cut over and over again by some abomination were pushed aside as Max flooded through my head, I rolled over and slipped into a deep sleep.
