Entering Harmony Chapter One By: Inanimate_Transformer

I know it's been said before, "Life is a road with twists and turns", with the latter giving us all the differences we experience in our world both personally and as a species. The fact is that many think there is no way off this road, as each person's own path connects to the main road of existence. This is where we are gravely mistaken.

It has been noted through the annals of history that there are places that are set aside for the "special". Places where no person can reach without first experiencing something so life changing, so horribly unthinkable that person's very psyche threatens to shatter. This is one of few ways to enter just one of the "special" places. Oh yes, don't be fooled these places are infinite, no one being knows of every place, but to be sure a great number of them are open.

For this tale we are looking at one of many "special" places connected to a tiny planet in the Sol System. The self proclaimed ruling class of this planet is known as humans. These humans have two distinct genders, with a very limited lifespan. Most of the species worship some fantastical being known to most as "God". The intriguing thing is that instead of worshiping this supposed god together, over time the creatures splintered off into different ways of worship. Each group believing their own so called truths, most placing themselves above all other species on the planet, showing their narrowed primitive views.

No life is more important then the next, they all play a role. This rudimentary truth has been lost by humans. They commit some of the most heinous crimes imaginable in the universe, and write it off as done for their fantastical myth. However there seems to be some hope. In the last few Universal ticks some of their population has striven to learn about their world and its surrounding universe. The humans seem to have managed a basic level of scientific knowledge based not on lore or fantastical stories, but on fact. Along with this, certain subcultures are sprouting in the soil of this movement.

For this tale we will focus on what the humans call "Homosexuals" . This subset of humanity differs by their natural attraction to others of the same gender. This natural evolution is looked upon as a negative occurrence by an abundance of their population. Those other universal species that observe humans are just as baffled by humanities derogatory look on one of their own subsets. Humans are but one of thousands of Native species in which homosexuality occurs, yet they view this as unique to themselves.

It is that view, and their derogatory aim at this subset that created one of the aforementioned "Special" places

Back when humanity was still young, and had just reached it current evolutionary state, the first homosexuals came about; at that point the silly notion of myths and legends had not interred the minds of these simple beings. The difference was noted, but passed over since it was more important to survive then to turn on themselves. It was not until religion, the human's word for their myths, which the first heinous act occurred. In 5000 B.C, human time, two young human males named Ballard and Kaithan became the frist victims of their subset, to be killed by religious fanatics.

It was a week before when they came, men clothed in dark robes, followed by ranks of soldiers. They called the elders of the village to a private commune and proclaimed that their leader had sent them to teach them the evil of their ways, and correct their audacious behavior. The elders attempted to explain to the outsiders that they were a good people, worked together to gather food, raised the children with each other, and led decent lives. The robed men demanded to be shown around the village so that they themselves could judge what was "decent". The elders escorted the men to their storage area, to see the food they had gathered, and the other products the village produces for the good of the whole. It was when they reached the middle of the village that the robed men made their voices heard. This was the village children's play area, dozens of children of all ages, were playing with makeshift cloth and wooden toys, in various states of dress, just doing what any child would do. Some were play fighting, some digging a random hole in the dirt, while others just horsed around.

The robed men took this sight in and asked why these children were not fully dressed or better controlled. The elders tried to explain that this is what the children did until they reached the proper age to be able to help with the gathering. It was during this explanation that Ballard and Kaithan came out of the shack that was attached to the play yard. Both were around nineteen years of age, and both had workers builds. Both had dark brown hair, and while Ballard had light brown eyes, Kaithans' were a brilliant dark green. They came over and welcomed their guests. The robed men eyed them wearingly and asked who they were. Both introduced themselves and said they watched over the children during the gathering season while their parents worked. The robed men silently fumed during this explanation and told the elders they had seen enough and asked them back to the commune. As they were walking away, one looked back just at the moment Ballard leaned over and gave Kaithan a kiss before heading inside to check on the babes. The look of shock on the robed mans face was quickly replaced with one of disgust. He made a mental note to "discuss" this with the others.

It was well after the moon had reached its highest point, when a loud ruckus was heard coming form the elders commune. Ballard and Kaithan were awakened by the pounding on their thin wooden door. Kathain pulled a wolf skin around his waist and went to the door. The door flew open allowing Elder Ruzmas into the main room of the shack. "Kaithan! Ballard! Get up now. Quickly gather your things we must get you away from here." Both young men had looks of total disbelief, finally after watching Ruzmas throw some of their belongings into small leather satchels Ballard went to him and grabbed his arms "Ruzmas, what is this about, what is happening." Both watched as his face took a grim expression, "Those men who were with us earlier, they have come to change the way we live." "WHAT!" exclaimed Kathian "Who are they to say we have to change, they have no right, nor do they belong here" he stated. "Of that we are aware young Kaithan, but from what we understand, this is not voluntary. They have been sent by their ruler to teach those across the land in their own way. In essence make us live the way they do. And I am afraid; they are not opposed to using force." At that, Ruzmas's resolve wilted for the briefest of moments. "Elder Talmos tried to explain about our life, and why we did not want their opinions, and when he would not back down from his speech, one of the men...he...sliced off poor Talmos's tongue." Both men stepped back, all blood draining form their faces. "Luckily Elder Jolice was quick and grabbed a hot cinder from the fire, and while holding Talmos down, managed to seal the wound before to much of his life leaked out of him." Both men sighed a little and that "But now is not the time for this, you two must go, take only what you can carry and still move quickly. You must get as far from here as possible. One of the men asked about your shack, and why you and your wives lived all together here." Ballard blinked "We are not with wives Ruzmas, you know we have chosen each other to be with," Balled stated. Ruzmas's face grew grim "Yes that is what we told them, and they asked why we allowed such an evil in our simple little village. When they realized we didn't understand what they meant they explained that to their king, your kind of bond is considered evil. " Kaithan sat down with a shocked expression "I managed to slip away, but come we cannot wait, every moment is important right now. As I slipped out I over heard one of the robed men telling the soldiers to capture you to, that they would use you as an example to the rest of us; Now Hurry," and Ruzmas started stuffing things in the satchel again "we must get you out of here, your both young and strong you can handle the wilderness, you done it many times before, go and do not return unless one of the elders comes. It is no longer safe for you here. "Ballard jumped up and grabbed another satchel as did Kaithan, just as a large group of soldiers rushed inside.

Later, when reviewing the events after their capture we realized that a new "special" place had been discovered. As both men were tied to posts in the middle of the village, the robed men walked to them, proclaiming that this was the will of their God, that these evil beings were to die, the villagers surged forth trying to protect their own. A soft sound could be heard. Its intensity grew and the villagers tried to overcome the soldiers, who were killing left and right. The sound, like a solid wave washed over the group. As it grew enormous in volume, the robed men closed in on Ballard and Kaithan, just as the sound reached its highest peak, both young men were gone.

Ballard and Kaithan collapsed against each other, and look out, upon a vast expanse of green and blue. They had entered Harmony.
