Chapter 15: Three weeks later
I walked from elevator to my room, I was beginning to get sick of staying in hotels all the time. I walked into my room and over to the phone I was going to call Heather, my assistant, but it started to ring.
"Hello?" I asked as I picked it up.
"Don't hang up, Mike," I heard Brian on the other end, "listen, you keep hanging up on me and ignoring me. Everyone who knows you that I talk to you about keeps saying how emotionless you've become lately, what's wrong?"
I hung up on him. Maybe he's right, but why the fuck should he care? He broke my heart and I really didn't see the point in doing anything anymore. I went onto talk shows and put on a show, good thing I can act to cover up how I really felt. I never really thought I believed in love, but Brian changed all that...then he made me believe it again. Fuck him, fuck the whole world.
I picked up the phone and called Heather, telling her to cancel everything I had the next day. She told me I had the day off anyway and I told her thanks and hung up.
I picked up my notepad and realized that my house would be ready tomorrow. I had bought a $400,000 house in the suburbs of NY and decided to have it redone. All the furniture would be in it tomorrow. I couldn't wait.
There was a knock on the door. I walked over and opened it...it was Matt...
"What?" I asked harshly.
"Can I come in?" he asked.
"If you must..." I said flatly as he walked in and closed the door.
"Mike, I was wondering if...well..." he started.
He put his hands behind my head and pulled my head towards his and kissed me. The man was gorgeous, I'll give him that, but I didn't feel the electricity that I had had with Brian.
I pushed him back after a couple of minutes of making out.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"You're what's wrong, Matt," I said, "you're constantly flirting with me and its getting on my nerves..."
"Then maybe we should cut to the chase..." he said flirtatiously.
"Alright," I said, "put this around your eyes..."
I handed his a sash, which he tied around his head.
"Ooh, kinky," he said.
"Don't take it off..." I said erotically, "it'll ruin the surprise..."
I lead him over to the door and quietly opened it, led him into the hall, and quietly closed it. I changed my clothes, got into bed, and turned on the TV, `Friends' was on. I started to watch it.
After twenty minutes I heard a knock on the door.
"Very funny!" Matt yelled sarcastically.
I figured he'd left so I continued watching the show, but just kept pounding away. I decided to call security and five minutes later I heard two other voices outside the door and the pounding stopped.
I figured that Matt would get the message sooner or later, but he kept coming off like an annoying little brother that wouldn't leave you alone...
Chapter 16: The next day
I knew as I walked from the elevator to the room that I was going to regret this. I knocked on the door, and a couple of minutes later Matt answered it.
"Sorry for yesterday, Matt," I said and turned around. I wanted him to think I was sorry, but not think that I was losing sleep over it, which I wasn't.
"Come on in..." he said cheerfully.
I walked in and looked around, there were pictures of me everywhere...I mean EVERYWHERE!!!
"Wow..." I said, "this is...really...creepy..."
"Like it?" Matt asked enthusiastically.
"No, not really," I said, "I don't like seeing my picture on magazine covers, let alone the walls of where I'm living..."
"Listen, Matt," I said, "you are really weird and I think that you should know that I find you attractive physically, but I find you annoying when it comes to personality. And before I date someone I have to like them personally and find them somewhat physically attractive...sorry, kid, but I just don't like you..."
He looked crushed, maybe he had FINALLY got the point.
"I'll let myself out..." I said as I walked out.
I walked to the elevator and began my journey home, well to my hotel anyway.
I didn't do anything the rest of the day, but I went out to dinner with Heather and when I exited the elevator and headed towards my room after dinner I noticed someone standing in front of my door.
"Who the hell are you?" I asked, I really couldn't make out a face.
"It's me," I heard a familiar and Brian stepped out of the shadows.
"Brian?" tears came to my eyes, but I didn't know why.
"Listen, Mike, baby, I'm truly sorry for what I've done," he said crying, "and I want to start over..."
"Hush," I said as I put my finger on his lips, "I thought you were on tour."
"I left," he said "I didn't tell the guys, they would've made me wait another week until the tour was over, but Mike I couldn't wait that long...I really love you."
"Brian..." I said wiping the tears from my eyes, "...I love you too..."
We embraced one another and kissed.
I led him into my room and didn't notice that there was someone standing in the shadows at the other end of the hallway.
"Brian," I said as I took off my coat, "I don't want to have sex with you right now. I know that sounds weird because I want to rip your clothes off of you and taste you again...but, if we turn this reunion into a sexfest then our relationship will become dependant on it. It'll take a while but I want to rebuild our relationship on love..."
Just then there was a knock on the door, not thinking I opened it without looking to see whom it was.
A man wearing a black ski mask rushed in and pushed me onto the bed, he closed the door behind him and locked it.
"What do you want?" I asked him.
"I wanted you," he said angrily.
"Matt?" I asked as I recognized the voice.
"Yeah," he said taking the mask off, "I loved you with all my heart and soul and I wouldn't given anything for. I would have loved you forever, but NO you had to choose him! He was the fucking asshole that cheated on you and you still chose him over me! WHY? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HIM?"
"I love him..." I said, "and he loves me."
"I love you TOO!" he screamed, "why don't you love?"
"Because there's something missing," I explained, "Brian and I grew into our relationship naturally, yes it was fast, but it was natural. You threw yourself at me with no regrets, that isn't gonna work. Now please give me the gun."
I took a single step towards him and aimed it at Brian.
"You're not that kind of man, Matt," I pleaded with him, "give me the gun..."
He pulled the trigger and a single bullet made its way through the machine and towards Brian, hitting him in the thigh.
"BRIAN!" I screamed with tears in my eyes.
Matt looked on curiously as I took Brian in my arms, he had fallen onto the bed and I sobbed uncontrollably.
"I..." Matt began, "I think I understand now...love links you two in such a way that...that you can actually feel his pain..."
"Please stop this, Matt!" I pleaded as I stood and moved towards him again.
"But..." he continued, "if I kill him...the bond between the two of you will be broken, that will make you love me!"
He pulled the trigger again and once again a bullet moved towards Brian, I jumped quickly and the bulled slammed into my left shoulder, I was thrown back and my head hit the floor hard as I fell.
"What?" he asked suddenly, "what are you doing, don't you understand, Mike, I killed him you'll love me!"
"NO I WON'T," I screamed as I pulled myself to bed and lay on across Brian in case he fired again, "I will NEVER love you and I never want to love you. If you kill him...I'LL ONLY HATE YOU!"
He looked stunned.
"Even if the one you love is gone..." Matt stuttered, "E-even th-then you still won't love me. I understand now. You're taking pity on him...you don't love him, you only pity him because he's hurt. Well if I get hurt then you'll love me."
Matt brought the gun to the side of his head and pulled the trigger.
The bullet made its way through his skull and out the other side, his brains splattered across the wall. It sickened me incredibly. Then I noticed it, the pounding at the door, I'm not sure how long it had been going on, but it finally stopped when it was knocked down and hotel security along with the NYPD stormed in.
I closed my eyes as a police officer ran over to Brian and me, who still lying on the bed.
"I'm not sure whose blood is whose," the man yelled, "but either one of them or both of them have lost a lot of blood."
I closed my eyes as more people rushed into the room and that's the last thing I remember...
