Dancing with the Dragon Chapter 54: Celebration by Tripp Savidge

  • Scene 1 *

Skye collapsed onto the bed beside Mattekin and closed his eyes.

"That was awesome. Thanks for including me, Bro," River said.

"Mm-hm. It was, wasn't it? The sex is so much better when they want it that badly and believe me, he wanted it."

"I picked up on that from how he sucked me. Did you forget to mark him? I can feel the bond, but most of the wing has a mark."

"Crap, crap. I forgot to do that for Jhaeros too," Skye muttered.

"If you didn't, do it the next time. It's just symbolic anyway, right?" River asked.

"I don't know. No one has ever said. Maybe it's in one of those scrolls Grand Priest Seatha was having translated. Usually, Mistral pushes so hard for it that I have to think it's more than just symbolic. Can I tap your magic again when I mark Mattekin?" Skye took River's hand. The magic came easily, and he wove his together with River's before he gripped Mattekin's ass cheek and bit as he filled the druid with power again.

"Hey, don't forget to do your 'mate thing.'"

Skye sat up and looked at Mattekin spread out on the bed. There was an obvious puddle of jizz dripping from his ass. And a clear imprint of his bite on the perfect globe of his backside. Within a few hours, it would fade and not show to the naked eye when Mattekin was in his human form. When he shifted to his stag, he'd have a platinum spot of fur on his flank in the shape of a dragon's scale.

River helped Skye roll Mattekin onto his back. Skye laid his hand on Mattekin's pec and teased his nipple until it pebbled. The magic still coursed through Skye as he opened his other sight. He looked for the spot where the bond-mate connection would tether. It was there but blocked. He concentrated on starting the change, and his magic burned away whatever had hidden the glowing core that would enable him to bond with a dragon.

"I hadn't noticed it before, but now that Quanta pointed out what to look for, I can see that the anchor is already there. I don't know if it works the same for all of them, but the potential was almost...dormant? My magic didn't add anything to Mattekin; it's more like I uncovered it or released it."

"Cool, but not sure that it matters as long as they can bond to a dragon. That's the whole point of this, right? More bond-mates means more dragons," River said.

"I guess. And if I don't do it while we're having sex, the changes won't start until they find their mate and the bond forms." Skye saw another dribble of cum leak out of Mattekin and drip down his still hard cock. He leaned over and lapped it up and then sucked the cock into his mouth. "Mmmm."

"Good, isn't he? Told ya. But I suppose we should check on our mates and get this one back to the hold. I could be wrong, but I think he'll want another round or two once he wakes up."

"You're right. He may not be quite as determined as Jhaeros, but I think he'll at least want a couple more. I'm still surprised he didn't get what he needed from the elves. The elves in our wing are pretty amazing."

"Maybe that's because your magic only notices the good ones."

"Should we put the robe over him?" Skye asked as he grabbed his pants.

"Why bother?"

"Sorry, this wasn't quite the reunion with Grandma B I hoped for you."

"I'm not complaining. I think it's been great, and it's pretty obvious she's going to be a part of our lives, so we have time," River finished lacing up his vest. "You want me to carry him?"

"I'll get him. Only seems fair." Skye was glad that River was developing the same dragon strength that he had. It might upset their mates a bit, but he liked knowing River was getting as many benefits from his dragon form as he did. The last thing he wanted was jealousy to put a wall between him and his brother.

Skye lifted the limp druid over his shoulder and smirked when he felt the hard dick poke into his chest. He adjusted him so it wasn't awkward and realized that was impossible because he'd still be gripping his pert ass to keep him in place. Skye watched as River stripped the bed and then gave him a nod that he was ready.

When they got downstairs to the living room, the guys were all awake and engrossed in looking at the photo albums. Grandma B was there answering questions and pointing out her favorites.

Garrett? Skye nudged nervously.

Hey, babe. Your grandma explained everything. All is good. I see you had another successful bonding? I could feel it as soon as I woke up.

"Hello, boys. I'm glad to see you listened to your grandma. I suppose it's time for you to go, but you have to promise to bring back these lovely men for another visit. I'll be glad to cook for you. Maybe we could do a picnic outside. It's lovely in the garden."

"That would be great, Grandma," River hugged her and kissed her cheek. "Sorry, but Skye's got his hands full."

"Yes, he does. Now you take good care of him and remember he's not nearly as tough as he pretends."

"We've got him, and I promise the wing will take very good care of him."

"Thank you all for coming. Keeper said you can use the door to get back."

Skye assumed she meant the broom closet, so wasn't surprised when she led them back into the kitchen and opened the door.

The guys all took turns giving her hugs and kisses on the cheek. Mica and Garrett held back until all the others were through.

"Goodnight, Grandma, and thank you for helping with Mattekin. He really needed this," Skye said and then stepped through.

It was only moments later when Mica and Garrett were with him back in the hold. The door had opened into Skye's bedroom, so it was easy to lay the druid in their bed. Mattekin stirred as the door closed.

Garrett pulled Skye into a kiss. "Why don't you go rest in River's room? Nik and I have a druid to fuck. No fair hogging him to yourself, you know?"

"I'd never-" Skye's words were cut off as Garrett pushed his tongue deep into Skye's mouth. I'm proud of you, baby. Don't worry, Nik and I will be gentle with him, and when we're done, if he wants more, I'll get Mica and Kuai to top him off. That's probably good for his first night.

Not Jayce?

You'd know better than me, but I don't think our pretty boy is ready for that.

You're right. Maybe I'll keep him with me and River. That okay?

Of course.

"Come on, Jayce, you're with River and me. Mica and Kuai, you get cuddle time with Mattekin once you've done your duty. Take him back to your room and make sure he gets a good night's sleep."

"Yes, sir," Mica said with a big grin.

  • Scene 2 *

"You ready?" Quanta asked.

Skye noticed the master mage was smiling more than usual. "I think so."

"I thought we'd focus first on spells that complement your telekinesis and other abilities. Eventually I think you should master all of them, but if you can hold a person with your other powers, it would be a waste to use magic. The same with your strength, speed, or ability with languages because of the symbiot."

"Makes sense."

"We're going to start with the question you asked yesterday. While you have native ability to see magic, that doesn't always tell you enough. The spell we'll work on is an extension of that and is what I use to identify a dragon's magic. Likewise, it would work to see an elf's gifts or reveal an enchanted object's abilities."

"Enchanted object?" Skye asked. "Like the amulet you gave me or the ring I used to check for poison?

"Exactly. A strong enough mage or even a group of mages can take an object and infuse it with power. Enchanting can have many useful purposes, such as making a piece of armor stronger, a blade more deadly, a ring that protects you from poisons. The list goes on, but this spell lets you identify that ability. I have no doubts you'll eventually be able to enchant items, but that's a ways off."

Skye thought that sounded like a great ability. 'Mistral, it's like in that game we played, and it would be awesome if I could make sure my guys all had extra protection.'

'Then we must study and listen,' Mistral said.

"Another question... If elves gifts are magic, does that mean that the night elves who were trapped on hell world lost them?"

Quanta paused. "Their gifts don't work the same as mage power. They don't draw magic for those gifts to work-it's more a part of them. Like with Arnakkhor's mate Allanna or Revali's song. Her visions continued, even once exiled. The exception is those elves who were also born mages, like Mordish, or a healer like Itheral-they couldn't survive if they'd been on hell world with no access to magic."

"Which is why we found no mages among the dark fae." Skye was struck at how horrible it must have been when they had to watch their brothers and sisters die painfully after the exile.

"I've spoken at length with Arnakkhor, and they are hopeful that the mage and healer gifts will return when new dark fae are born."

"Yeah, but we still need to find them more permanent homes. I don't think staying in Underhill is the solution." Skye paused, looking at the Master Mage. "Quanta, there seems to be something different about you today." Skye was both curious and a little bit nervous at pointing it out. 'You don't think he'd turn us into a toad, do you? Is that a thing?'

Quanta smiled. "Blame yourself. Since Aksel and I have been spending time with your wing, my mate has become much more amorous. I don't know exactly why, but I'm not complaining. I swear, the longer he's in your presence, the better night I have. And without oversharing, let me just say last night was memorable."

Skye felt the heat rush to his face.

"Before we begin, we need to set up a circle and build our wards," Quanta continued as if nothing unusual had been shared.

"Is that like what I do when I shield?" Skye asked.

"Yes. But scribed wards and glyphs can be made stronger and don't require the same concentration to maintain or hold. If made properly, they can be set and don't require your attention while you do other spell work. Their strength and how long they last depends on the skill and power of the mage who sets them. A master mage with enough power can use the magic itself to scribe the sigils and circle, but most rely on physical markings," Quanta explained.

"Cool, sort of like in 'Dr. Strange.' So when we were removing the curses-"

"The elf mages are not well-versed in wards and shielding, so it takes much more concentration for them. Given what you can do already, I believe this will be very easy for you."

"Um... I'm not going to say I'm an expert or anything, but I can use what Kwill taught me to shield someone else and prevent them from attacking."

"He is an exceptional teacher. Think of this as an extension of what he's taught you. Another advantage is that the area protected can be much larger. We use marked lines and glyphs to define the spell and give it focus. I always carry chalk, but it can be almost anything that makes a mark."

Skye watched as Quanta marked an almost perfect circle, then a second inside the first. He drew symbols between the two lines at the four points of the compass. "These are the sigils for earth, water, air, and fire, the primary elements of magic. Some mages like to include a star or a pentagram, but that's unnecessary unless you're doing conjuring or working with spirit magic. There are additional marks that can be added depending on what you are attempting."

"Okay."

"I'll have you mark the circle the next time. It needs to become second nature. Whenever we're training or doing powerful spells, it's best to have wards to protect those around us."

Skye could see that and knew that even when they were working with the curse, the other mages had drawn something similar as well as additional glyphs on the walls.

"Master Quanta, I was wondering, is there a spell that would let a shifter magically remove and store his clothes and belongings while in his other form?"

Quanta sat back on his heels while he was putting away the chalk and then pulled a small box from his bag. He set the small wooden box in the center of the circle. "Hm... I don't see why you couldn't. Let me think about it and talk to the other mages. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the mage library while we're here. If it has been done, I'm sure it's been recorded in one of the many spell books."

"If you could, that would be great. I'd like all of the dragons and shifters who have magic to learn that if it's possible."

"I can certainly see why it would be useful. I'll do my best. But now, let's begin our lessons. Center yourself and draw your magic. Remember to stay inside the circle at all times. We're going to use every skill you have, including the spell I'm about to teach you to identify everything there is to know about that box."

'Looks like a pretty boring, plain old wooden box to me, Mistral.'

'I think that's the point. Even without a spell, I can feel the magic.'

Skye sighed, realizing Mistral was right and that if he was going to learn, he needed to be patient and pay attention.

  • Scene 3 *

"What do you sense?" Quanta repeated.

'That I'm friggin' tired and need a break.' Skye took a breath and concentrated. The poor elf who'd been roped into volunteering was practically vibrating. As soon as Skye finished the spell, the knowledge came to him.

"His gift is to work with plants and herbs and know how best to combine them in poultices and potions."

"Very good. Thank you, Dacket." Quanta said as the elf quickly left the room. "He's an apprentice apothecary if you didn't pick that up from his mind."

"I was trying not to cheat." Skye wondered how much longer they'd continue. Quanta had insisted that they have food brought to them at lunch so they could make the most of their time before the celebration.

"I think you've mastered it. I'm still fascinated that you can do the spells without speaking. That's both a blessing and a curse."

"I know, I know. Be careful when I practice and keep my mind focused on intent-"

"Or you'll be casting spells without meaning to," Quanta finished.

"You still think it's because of my telepathy?"

"While rare, the ability is not unheard of, and at least in the students I've trained, it has always displayed in telepaths. I'll need to test River and warn him as well. Though his gifts are not exactly like yours, he is a strong telepath."

Skye couldn't help grinning and then felt guilty about it. River "accidentally" catching people who angered him on fire probably wasn't funny to anyone else.

"How is he doing with his training?"

"Very well when he focuses. He's got as much magic potential as you do, but as with your other gifts, he leans toward different applications of magic," Quanta said.

"Not surprised. He was always more of shoot a fireball first and explore after."

Quanta gave Skye a puzzled look but must have chosen to ignore the comment. "He does prefer a strong offense. Fortunately for the rest of you, we won't let him get away with not being well-rounded. All of your wing-mates have done well, and I know that's mainly due to your support, so thank you."

"While we're talking about my wing-mates, I've never had a chance to ask how Rilien is progressing."

Quanta stopped wiping up the chalk marks and turned to Skye. "He's a natural, Skye. I don't know much about his biological father, but I think he's got the talent to be a master mage. Rilien is learning quickly and has already shown that he doesn't need chalk to set a circle."

Skye felt a wave of pride. He wanted Rilien to be successful and also powerful enough to protect himself. He watched as Quanta returned to wiping up the markings.

"Have you heard any more about the celebration?" Skye asked.

"Not much. Lady Telawynn said she'd send someone to escort Aksel and me when it's time. My understanding is that it begins at sunset."

"You know more than I do. I asked Noud to find out what he could. It's not like I have options on what to wear. Gee, I can wear the beige leather, or the brown leather, or the dark brown leather."

Quanta chuckled. "I can say I am relieved that Underhill didn't decide Aksel and I merited the...what does Venci call it? The savage look?"

"It's embarrassing," Skye grumbled.

Quanta turned and gave Skye a head-to-toe look. "You have nothing to be embarrassed about. You and your people look pretty damn good in leather. I think Underhill had the right idea."

Skye really wanted a quick come-back but couldn't think of anything, and sticking his tongue out at the mage didn't seem to carry the right message. "I'm somewhat dreading the celebration. My gut tells me this is a great opportunity for Underhill to get us all close to the delea grove."

"That's the place from the visions, isn't it?"

"Yeah. You got them too?" Skye asked in surprise.

"Aksel and I both have."

"Do you mind me asking what you saw? Not everyone had the same dream."

"Mine was more of a nightmare. Aksel and I got separated, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get to him. Through our bond, I could feel him and talk to him, but he was barely coherent. If I put that with what he shared of his dream, it may make sense. His was being caught in an orgy and not being able to control himself."

"I'm sorry. That's the most common dream and the same one that all the dragons in my wing got." 'Sounds like Underhill is going to pull Aksel in with us, doesn't it, Mistral?'

'He is a dragon.'

'But he's already mated. It's not like he's going to find a bond with an elf. None of this makes sense.'

"Can I ask a favor, Prince Skye?"

"Of course."

"Please do your best to keep my mate safe. He understands combat but magic..."

"If it helps, I don't think Underhill will harm anyone. I wish I could tell you why it wants this, but I can't figure it out. I know part of it is that I'm to use my magic on any elves who join so they can be bond- mates. But I see no reason for the orgy everyone's seeing in their dreams."

Quanta scowled but stayed silent for several awkward moments. "I hate to even suggest this..."

"You have an idea?" Skye asked, suddenly curious if there was something he'd missed.

"There are other types of magic. When you have the ability to tap the nodes or have built-in powers like the dragons, we don't usually even discuss them. For true mages, they are...questionable at best."

"You're saying blood magic is a real thing?" Skye had seen enough movies and read enough books that it came to mind quickly.

"It is, and as you'd expect, it's considered dark magic and tainted. But there's another option. Sex magic. It is a gray area because it can be dark and is sometimes even combined with blood magic. The power is erratic and hard to control but in Underhill..."

"Shit. When I was trapped in the delea grove before-"

"What happened, Skye? What did you notice? This could be important."

"The spot where the centaurs had sex with Caladwen-the plants and flowers grew greener and richer and sprouted before my eyes. When some of their seed spilled, the ground seemed to soak it up, and new growth formed."

Quanta let out a deep sigh. "Then I would postulate that Underhill can feed on sex magic. Whether it's to continue its healing or for some other purpose, I can only guess."

"You're going to think I'm crazy, but that makes me feel better. So much of what we've had to do since coming to Underhill was help restore and heal the magic; it would fit. And I think you'll agree that dragons and sex magic..."

Quanta burst out laughing. "A natural fit. I agree."

"Is that something I should learn about? I assume sex magic has its own sigils and spells?" Skye hoped Quanta would say no. Or maybe even tell him dragons couldn't. But he had a gut feeling that he had to ask.

Quanta seemed to think about it for a moment, crossing his arms and looking at Skye. A tingle of magic brushed across Skye's senses, and he wondered if the mage had cast a spell. He didn't hear any words, but Quanta never said he had to speak the spells out loud.

"Let's see how the vision plays out. Given your nature and the powers you have, it may be wise. Even if it is just to protect yourself from others using it on your wing. There's no question that your bond and the relationship with your wing has a very strong sexual element. I really wish we knew more about platinums and this father dragon concept, not to be confused with 'The' Father Dragon. Our lack of knowledge puts us at a disadvantage."

"Tell me." Skye didn't mean to sound sulky, but being in the dark about his powers and abilities was getting really old.

"We'll take a break for now and pick up again tomorrow." Quanta stood and brushed off his leggings.

"Can we make that a tentative? You know, depending on how tonight goes."

"Probably a good idea. When we do get back together, maybe invite Jhaeros to join us, and we can try your new spell-see what it shows you about his magic."

"Do you think it would tell us more about Revali's power? It's not like we can ask the other sirens," Skye asked.

"We can try. I did ask the other mages and even had a chance to speak to a couple of the elders who were working with Lady Telawynn. The answer was consistent if not helpful: no one had ever heard of a male siren before. I did have another thought. You could try asking Underhill."

"Oh yeah, because that's been so productive for all my other questions," Skye said.

"It was just an idea."

"Thank you, Quanta. I really do appreciate all you're doing for us."

"As my mate said, it's the adventure of a lifetime."

  • Scene 4 *

Skye was surprised when he returned to their rooms to find most of his wing gathered. All eyes turned to him as he stepped in, followed by Raphael and Corbin, who'd been his chaperones for the day. Having them together felt right and released some of the tension he'd been holding. He looked around at their expectant faces.

"Did something bad happen?"

"I don't know, is there something you need to tell us?" Venci asked in response.

"It's okay, babe. Nothing happened that we know of, but your anxiety and tension has been building all day," Garrett said from where he sat on one of the couches.

"What they are trying to say but failing at miserably is that you're making us all twitchy. Garrett didn't pick up anything specific from your bond, but we were wondering if maybe you learned something or...you know, something happened that you blocked from us," Gilian shared.

"Um...no..." Skye walked over and kissed his mate as Garrett tipped his head back. "I'm nervous about the celebration and have a gut feeling that tonight is when the visions play out."

"We should have a plan," Mica said.

"What are we planning for?" River asked as he stepped into the room.

Skye knew his brother and Nik were both training with the mages and must have finished just after he and Quanta, which reminded him to do a quick head check on who was in the room.

"The celebration and possibly the grove. All I know is that I'm supposed to make any elf who shows up a potential bond-mate. Many of you said your vision was of an elf orgy. Unless someone is holding back, that's all we've got." Sky paused, waiting for a reaction, but when no one spoke, he moved on. "Where's Mattekin? Is he okay?"

"He's in our room, resting," Garrett said. "And before you worry, nothing is wrong. He was up most of the night and wanted to be able to enjoy the celebration with us."

"How is he adjusting?" Skye moved around the couch and planted himself in Garrett's lap, wrapping his arm around his mate's shoulder.

"About as well as you'd expect. Somewhat freaked out to have all of us in his head," Garrett said.

"I think being around so many guys lusting after him and being able to pick up on some occasional details is throwing him off more. Hard to imagine a man that handsome questioning that we'd be attracted to him," Chaz added.

"Plan?" River prompted.

"I was suggesting that we need a plan so we're not completely at Underhill's mercy," Mica explained. "While we all know the gist of the visions, there's got to be more we can do. What is our obligation for the celebration? Do we all need to be there?"

"If I may?" Venci asked Skye, who gave a wave to proceed.

"The celebration is in our honor. Pretty much any of the fae who is anybody is expected to attend to thank the team for rescuing the dark fae. Any of you who went to hell world are expected to be there. It would be insulting to our hosts for any of us not to attend," Venci said.

"I don't want to offend anyone, especially Lady Telawynn," Skye added.

"And of course, Underhill conveniently made all of our armor and weapons disappear," Corbin grumbled.

"I still have Blossom!" Teak said.

"That's great, buddy, but it's also totally useless here in Underhill. It's no better than carrying a heavy stick," Mica said gently.

"Not sure that weapons are the answer anyway," Garrett replied. "None of the visions have been life-threatening, and no one has threatened us. I also hate the thought of harming someone who's under Underhill's control and doesn't have a choice. They'd be just as much a victim as we would."

"Good point," Mica said.

"Not so important now that you've decided that weapons aren't the answer, but Gil and I still have our knives. Underhill didn't take any bladed weapons," Kuai said.

"All right. So we all need to attend the celebration. Why don't we focus on the delea grove part. Pretty sure everyone's sending took place there. Perhaps we can at least control who gets pulled in."

"Correct me if anyone held any details back, but my understanding is that of our wing, the dragons are the ones who got visions of the orgy in the grove," Skye said. "Teak and Chaz both got visions of being changed so they could be bond mates. Gilian you didn't get a vision, right?"

Gilian hesitated, and before she responded, Jhaeros spoke up.

"I um... had a dream last night. I didn't get any of them before, but I was there too."

"Revali?" Skye turned to the siren, who was pressed into Chaz's side as if the were-dagger were protecting him.

He shook his head no.

"This gets more and more complicated." Mica sighed. "Best approach I see is at the first sign of trouble, Gilian, Teak, and Chaz return Revali to the hold. Maybe they take Mattekin with them as well. That leaves us with all the dragons, plus Jhaeros."

"Jayce, would you be more comfortable coming back to the hold?" Skye knew that Jayce was not as quick to jump in bed as his other dragons were.

'But once he's there, he's all in,' Mistral reminded Skye.

'True and he is stunning. But we're talking about elves and total strangers for this one, Mistral. That's not the same as being with a wing-mate.'

"If you don't mind, I'd rather not get pulled in. But do you really think Underhill will let us decide?" Jayce asked.

Skye opened his mouth to respond and stopped as Mistral's voice broke in.

'He's got a point. If Underhill sent him a vision that he was included, I can't imagine he'd be successful in evading.'

"I don't think it would hurt to try," Skye responded. He looked at Revali.

"I'll go wherever Chaz is," Revali said.

"Prince Skye, if you don't object, I'd like to stay with you and the team. Especially if you're sending Teak and Gilian back to the hold, it would be good to have someone with you who is familiar with Underhill," Raphael said.

"Not to be difficult, but..." Chaz looked at Teak who nodded. "Teak and I both had visions of being in the grove as well. Just not the same as everyone else's."

Skye wasn't sure what to say. They could still try to avoid the grove though he didn't hold out much hope that it would work. He looked at Raphael and wondered if there was any reason not to grant his request. Ever since Raphael had mentioned his vision, he'd been diligent about always staying close to Skye. Even when that meant sitting in the hallway outside Skye's magic lessons.

"I have no objections." Skye wished the ranger would share what he'd seen in his vision.

'We could look...' Mistral whispered.

'No, Mistral. I'm trying really hard not to abuse my abilities and I don't get a sense that it's a threat to me or the wing.'

"What can we expect once we're in the delea grove? How do we keep people safe?" Mica asked.

Skye glanced over at Teak. "Tell me if it was different for you, Teak. I remember the effects coming on slowly. I was able to keep my focus for a while. That's how I was able to deal with Caladwen and the centaurs-even after, I had time to shift and search for a way out. So it had to be hours. But by the time Teak showed up, I was feeling the pull and struggling to worry about consent. But the delea grove I was taken to was very small and had several withering and dead trees. If it has recovered like the forest..."

"So your prior experience may not be relevant," Mica surmised.

"I didn't lose the ability to think, but my need to be with Skye grew until that's all I could focus on. It was the first time I'd been with a man, and I stopped caring. I don't know if that was because of the blossoms or because I was there with Skye, and his magic had already noticed me." Teak turned bright red and stopped talking.

"Skye has that effect on people," Garrett teased.

"How different was the grove from the blossom shower Underhill sent?" Corbin asked.

"No comparison. I clearly remember everything that happened in the grove. What happened after the blossoms started falling is a blur," Skye said.

"Great. So we don't really know what to expect," River said.

"Maybe not, but we still need to try. It would be the perfect opportunity for someone to get to one of the princes. The buddy system may not work, but I think it's the best chance we've got. Corbin, you stay with Skye. Kuai, you're with River and Bryan, you stay with Nik. I'll stick close to Garrett. Venci you back up Corbin and help Skye," Mica ordered.

"I'll make sure you all have blades," Gilian added.

"What about at the celebration?" Nik asked.

"Let's use the same pairings. That also allows Venci to help Skye with protocol," Mica continued.

"I can help with that too. I may not be a prince, but I was raised in the court," Raphael said.

"Oh, please... You might as well be. Grandmother did her best to pair us up-for the good of the royal line and all." Gilian's response carried a wealth of unspoken words and feelings.

"Now you know why that wasn't such a good idea," Raphael muttered.

Skye knew the ranger was still nervous about admitting his sexuality.

'Didn't seem to bother Thillean. That man is as gay as they come, and while he may have been discreet, he didn't exactly hide his love of men,' Mistral said.

'True, but given what we now know about Caladwen, she probably drugged him.'

"I think Skye should keep his shields down and the group chat mode open. That way we'll all know immediately if anything happens to any of the wing. He'll also be able to detect if anyone has ill intent," River said.

"I think you should do the same, River. You'd likely notice any enemies before they tipped their hand, and we need every bit of leverage we can get," Mica said.

"Are you okay with that, Skye? I know it will be emotionally draining." Garrett asked.

"I agree that it's for the best. The magic isn't a problem; it's the emotional drain that wears me down. If I'm that open, I pick up on all the worries, fears, and everything else going on in their heads. But I'll do anything to keep you guys safe, so we'll make it work."

"Something you might want to think about, Skye. Maybe you should take care of Teak and Chaz before the party. You know, just in case?" Mica suggested.

'Crap, I hadn't thought of that, Mistral. Underhill might let them avoid the grove if it's already done.'

"He makes a good point, Skye. Especially if Chaz and Teak are going to try and avoid being pulled into the grove," Garrett said.

"If once wasn't enough, I'll say again that I want to be able to bond with a dragon," Chaz said.

Skye reluctantly crawled off Garrett's lap and walked over to Chaz. His were-dagger gave him a smile. Skye grabbed the back of his neck as he pulled Chaz into a kiss while he put his other hand on the dagger's chest. He pulled his magic and fed it into his wing-mate.

'Ridiculously easy considering what we just did for him,' Mistral said.

'I'm trying not to think how scary it is that I just changed his life.'

'Well, with that kiss, I'm not sure he even noticed.' Mistral gave a satisfied chuckle along with some images of what else he'd like to do with Chaz.

Skye pulled back, very aware of how red his face must be. No question that Chaz was a weak point for him and those thoughts...

"Okay. That's enough," Teak called out. "Do me!" Teak spread his arms wide and threw his head back.

"He's been spending too much time with Venci," River teased.

"Hey!" Venci huffed.

Skye gave another peck to Chaz's lips and stepped away. He took Teak's hand and pulled him to his feet and into his arms.

"You are so damned gorgeous," Skye whispered into Teak's ear.

"Yeah? Bet you wanna fuck me again, right?" Teak whispered back.

Skye claimed Teak's mouth, both because he wanted to and to stop the fairy from saying something that would push him over the edge. For being relatively new to intimacy with men, Teak was a natural, and he opened to Skye like a long-time lover. Skye slipped his fingers under the ties of Teak's vest and felt the warm skin.

You're sure? Skye mentally asked, not wanting to give up the kiss to speak out loud.

Positive. And you still owe me a good fuck or a hundred. Just so we're clear.

The magic was already there, and if it weren't for Mistral, Skye might have given the fairy a lot more than the gift of being a potential bond- mate. He so wanted Teak to come undone in his arms.

"Whew! Is it getting warm in here?" Venci said. "We might want to take a breather because if we don't, we probably won't make it to this gig. I'd suggest we eat. The celebration doesn't begin until after sundown, and while they'll have food, I got the impression they're more like canapes and hors d'oeuvres."

"Yeah. Break. Is it safe to eat and drink at the celebration?" River asked, his voice heated.

"It should be; we're the ones being celebrated," Garrett said. "Besides, if they were going to poison us, they've had a lot better opportunities before this."

You okay, Skye? Can I do something to help? Garrett asked.

Give me a minute. Skye took a deep breath. Mistral, I think we can be very thankful the vision was about strangers and not me being intimate with our wing-mates.

Mistral's laugh echoed in Skye's head.

  • Scene 5 *

"This is so cool," River said yet again as he ran his hand down his doublet.

After returning from dinner, all of them had found fresh clothing laid out for them in their respective rooms. Not leathers this time but in their place, rich silks and brocades that Skye could easily have seen in an epic fantasy adventure. River's were in shades of green, and the embroidery on the front of his doublet looked like spring leaves. Each of the princes also had a cape of sorts, with slits cut in the sides where sleeves would have been.

"I forgot what it was like to be covered," Skye said. His was in shades of blue with silver embroidery. His cape looked like a waterfall caught in motion. Garrett's was a deep shade of blue-almost black, resembling the night sky, and Nik's was in shades of deep forest green.

The rest of his wing was a rainbow of colors in similar doublets and tights. Even Gilian, although her vest was down to her knees rather than to her hips.

A knock sounded at the door, and Jayce opened it to allow Bram and Noud to enter.

"Are you ready?" Noud asked.

"Lady Telawynn asked us to escort you to the celebration," Bram added.

"We are," Garrett answered, giving Skye a nudge. No point in delaying. You've got me and the wing with you. It's going to be okay.

"You're right," Skye said in a low voice before pulling Garrett in for a kiss. I love you.

Love you too, babe. We got you, and you know you are my world, Garrett sent, deepening the kiss.

River cleared his throat and nodded toward the door.

Skye grinned at his brother and could feel the love through the bond. Even with as much as they teased each other, Skye knew that River always had his back.

They followed Bram and Noud out of the hold, following the tunnels that now seemed familiar. When they stepped outside, Skye paused to just take in the unusual world around him.

'We're not in Kansas anymore, Mistral.'

'Pretty sure from your memories that we've never been in Kansas.'

It's an expression, Mistral-as you well know. Difficult dragon.

'I will grant you that is very different from our memories of other forests,' Mistral conceded.

"Sort of hard to believe, isn't it?" River whispered reverently from beside Skye.

"If you see any blue elf giants, let me know," Skye teased. He did feel like there were more than a few similarities to the mythical Pandora, although it was likely that most of the strangeness was due to the glowing phosphorescent plants.

The path deeper into the woods was marked with glowing luminaries. Others from the hold were on the trail ahead of them. Skye remembered from their outing that the clearing wasn't too far-only a few minutes' walk from the exit of the hold.

"Wow," Nik said from behind him.

"Yeah, it's beautiful but at the same time, kinda scary. Skye can you feel the magic? The air almost seems thick with it," River asked.

"It does, but I'm not picking up anything threatening. Let's face it, Underhill is magic, so I'm not sure anything has changed so much as you've started noticing," Skye said.

"Huh..." River muttered.

"Probably from the lessons," Nik added. "You've been practicing how to see and feel magic."

"I wonder if you're here long enough if you get used to it?" Garrett said.

"No, you don't," Bram said, turning to look over his shoulder. "I guess maybe if you never left, but then you'd have other issues."

"We're almost there," Noud said.

Skye realized he could hear voices and the distinct sounds of music. There was also a brighter glow coming from farther up the path. Not sure I'm ready for this.

We got you, baby, Garrett responded as he took Skye's hand and gave it a squeeze.

As they grew closer, it looked as if the trees surrounding the meadow had been strung with twinkling lights. Skye had to quickly modify his thoughts as he drew closer and saw that the lights were moving and were more like super-charged fireflies.

"Quite a show," Garrett whispered.

"What?" Bram turned and smiled. "This is fairly standard for any outdoor gatherings. Though I expect the food and drinks to be much better tonight, and only the best musicians were invited to perform."

"Oh," Skye said, looking at his mate.

"We did bring back the dark fae," Garrett said.

"I wasn't sure they'd all be happy about that," Skye said. He was surprised by how many were gathered and how many different races. He hadn't realized there were that many people in Underhill and had thought it would be mainly the elves and a few night elves that showed up.

That any at all decided to attend a celebration for the "invading" dragons, as some described them, was hard to reconcile with the crowds. There were nymphs, fairies, night elves, dwarves, and more. No giants, thank goodness, he thought. But he did see a couple of ogres and goblins. Many more of the dark fae than he expected, and of course, he had to assume he wasn't seeing all of them.

The large meadow had open tents around the perimeter that at first reminded Skye of a craft show back home. No, that's wrong, he thought. It was like a renaissance fair, but real. Mage light gave a glow that illuminated the bright colors of the canvases. Other signs of magic were apparent everywhere he looked. Inside the tents, tables were heaped with food and others with tiers of drinks. The guests mingled and some danced in the open area in the center. The music reinforced the renaissance feeling with a Celtic-like sound.

"Welcome!" Lady Telawynn called out as she approached. She looked as stunning as always, but her ensemble was the most "elvish" thing Skye had ever seen her wear. Layers of long gossamer-type robes with flowers and beading. Her hair hung loose down to her waist with gold and gems braided into some of the strands.

A female elf accompanying her had floral necklaces that reminded Skye of Polynesian leis. She draped one over each of their necks as she greeted Skye's party.

Skye and the others bowed to the Queen Mother. "Thank you for inviting us," Skye said, breathing in the sweet scent of the flowers. Another elf came up with a tray of goblets, making sure each of them took one.

"Don't look so nervous, Skye. Even for the fae, this is very low-key. Food, music, and socialization. I promise there will be no speeches," Lady Telawynn assured him

Skye felt a weight lift from his shoulders. "Thank you." He did a quick scan of his drink and once he was sure it was safe, took a sip. Oooo...that's good, Garrett, he thought to his mate as Lady Telawynn continued. It was like a soda with a bubbly kick, more floral than fruity.

"There are many here who are hoping to at least get a glimpse of you and your team, if not get a chance to speak with you. That's all that is expected. Say hello and mingle with the guests. You can also expect some staring and a few gasps."

"Gasps?" Skye asked in confusion.

"You and your wing are not just attractive but glow with power. Your eyes might not be as bright as they were when you arrived, but they still shine. And for those who are sensitive to the magic, it can't be missed. It will thrill some and disturb others, seeing proof that dragons are indeed fae," Lady Telawynn said.

"But Father and the others have been coming to Underhill since-" Garrett began.

"They have, but very few of those here are of a position or rank to have seen them," she said, giving a wave to the crowds. "Please, enjoy the food, drink, and music."

Mica stepped up so he was close enough to Skye to keep his voice low. "It looks awkward if we all stay together. I'd suggest we break into the groups we talked about now. If anyone notices anything off or strange, we can meet by that tent asap. That okay?"

Skye took a deep breath. "Yeah." He opened up his link to the wing. Mica suggested we break into the Celebration groups now. I'll keep my link open so try not to broadcast unless you need to. If you see or sense anything off, we'll meet at the blue striped tent that has drinks near the path to the hold. Skye let Mica fill them in on the rest, including a reminder of who was to stay with whom.

I'm not going too far, brother. I'm not comfortable being separated, River sent.

I appreciate it, but I do understand why we can't all stay together. Skye replied.

Are you doing okay? Garrett asked. There's so much magic in the air it's making Rett twitchy. I can only imagine what it's doing to you and Mistral.

Skye took a moment to think about it and feel the magic. Garrett was right; there were enough spells and magic being used that the air hummed with power. Adding that to the base layer of being in Underhill and surrounded by the fae...yeah, a little overwhelming.

'Do you feel the pull, Skye?' Mistral asked. 'If we were anywhere else, I'd say there was an unclaimed wing-brother nearby. But there is so much interference...I can't be sure.'

I agree, Mistral.

You're right, Garrett. It is messing with my ability to separate or identify what I'm sensing. If Underhill used magic against us, I'm not sure I'd even notice until it was too late.

All the more reason to keep our brothers close. Garrett put an arm protectively over Skye's shoulders.

"Skye, Garrett! Good to see you and what? No leather?" Quanta teased as he and his mate joined them. Quanta had a huge smile on his face, and his eyes sparkled. "Isn't this amazing?"

"Forgive him; this much magic is making him giddy," Aksel added.

"I'm glad you're enjoying it. It's making me nervous," Skye said.

"Nonsense. For someone with your rapport to the heartstone, this should be nothing," Quanta said.

"Yes and no. The heartstone is one mind and purpose; this is hundreds all moving in different directions."

"Have you had a chance to mingle? I can't believe I'm getting a chance to see this!" Aksel looked as excited as the Master Mage. "Centaurs even! They keep to themselves on Draga, so while I know they are there, I've never met one in person before."

Skye had a discomforting flashback but felt Garrett's calming energy almost immediately. He leaned over and kissed Skye's neck as his grip tightened. Breathe.

"I suppose we should make our way around and probably at least try some of the foods. I'd hate to give offense," Skye said.

"Everything we've tried has been amazing-different-but good," Aksel said, and Skye could tell the dragon was ready to move on.

"Enjoy yourselves," Garrett said as the couple walked away.

"Bram and Noud, I'm relying on you to tell us what we should and should not eat or drink," Skye said, catching Noud's eye. He would have asked Raphael but noticed the Ranger had joined River's group. Odd...maybe he wants to be with Bryan.

"Of course. From what I can see, they have most of our delicacies and favorites, but they also have catered to all the fae. Might want to skip the ones made for ogre or goblin tastes."

Skye knew he went a little green at the thought and nodded in agreement. He felt the magic tug again as Bram pointed to a tent.

"They have one of my favorites. Would you like to try?" Bram asked.

They had just reached the bright yellow tent when Skye spotted two familiar faces with the look of pure delight as they held plates from the tent they were about to enter.

"Kavide, Zade, it is good to see you again. I hope Underhill is treating you well and that you have settled in well." Skye didn't know much about what had been happening with the night elves since their arrival, but these two had been crucial in helping them rescue the dark fae.

"Prince Skye!" Kavide greeted loudly. "Have you ever seen so much food? It has been amazing. We can never thank you enough."

"Underhill has been wonderful to us. We have enough to eat, we can sleep without fear, and anything we've needed has been provided. It's almost too good to believe," Zade added. "And look at you, Jhaeros! You've never looked better."

"Being with the dragons must be good for you, yes?" Kavide said.

Skye looked at his wing-brother and paid attention to his thoughts and feelings. He knew not all of the night elves had been kind to Arnakkhor's son, and he wanted to be ready.

"Thank you. I've never been happier," Jhaeros said with more confidence than Skye had expected.

"You deserve it. But please, enjoy. We don't want to keep you from trying everything...though I'd skip the orange and green striped tent if I were you." Kavide made a face showing his dislike of whatever they were offering.

"Thank you for the warning," Garrett said.

Jhaeros, you okay? Were they among those who mistreated you? Skye asked privately.

No and no one really mistreated me. There were just a few who were more clear that they thought I was beneath them and only good for being used.

If any of them are here, please point them out to me, Skye sent and felt Jhaeros's affirmation.

The pastries were definitely worth the visit, and it made Skye wonder what else they'd get to try before the evening was over. A few more tents and savory treats later, Skye saw Arnakkhor, his wife, and a night elf Skye assumed was his brother, Kazemkhor.

"Prince Skye, Prince Garrett," Arnakkhor called.

"King Arnakkhor, Lady Allanna, and I'm assuming Kazemkhor?" Skye greeted.

"You are correct. Thank you again for saving my life. I didn't have the opportunity to thank you properly at the time," Kazemkhor said with a bow.

"I'm glad we were able to help, and I must say you're looking much better than the last time I saw you."

You mean not on death's doorstep, Garrett sent to Skye.

"Yes, and feeling much better as well."

Now that the night elf was healthy, he could see the strong resemblance to Arnakkhor and guessed that Kazemkhor was a younger brother. Both were very handsome men.

"We hope you enjoy this evening's celebration," Garrett said, and Skye could feel the wave of pride from Venci that they were showing their manners.

Arnakkhor and Kazemkhor entered the tent Skye's group had just left, but Allanna held back. She watched as the others entered and then turned to Skye and Garrett.

"Prince Skye, I wanted to thank you for what you've done for Jhaeros."

"Mother, please. I'm right here," Jhaeros started, and Allanna gave him the "Mom" look, immediately silencing the night elf.

"It has been my pleasure, Lady Allanna. We are glad to have Jhaeros as part of our wing, and I promise I will always watch out for him," Skye said.

"Oh, I know you will." She smiled. "But know this as well. You have my support, and if you think it necessary, my permission to open up an opportunity for Arnak. He won't admit it, but I know his heart. It would be a good thing." Allanna winked at Skye without saying more. She walked over to Jhaeros and gave him a hug. Skye was pretty sure she whispered something to him as well, but he didn't catch it.

"Enjoy your evening." Allanna turned and entered the tent.

Was there a whole lot of unsaid but implied shit going on? Garrett asked.

Yes, Mica, Venci, and Corbin echoed.

Jhaeros? Skye prompted and could feel the embarrassment from his wing-mate. He was sure if his skin were lighter, he'd have seen him blush.

Nothing important.

They visited a few more stalls, trying some sweets as well as a couple of new beverages. Raphael had assured them before they left the hold that everything would be safe for dragons. Skye and his men greeted a number of elves and dark fae as they moved along. Skye had stopped to enjoy the music while Noud and Corbin went to fetch them the latest treat. Skye again felt a pull which had him glancing around at the other dancers and revelers.

While he waited, Skye did a quick check-in on his wing-mates. Once he'd assured himself that they were all well, he focused on River. **You okay, Bro?"

Yes but Storm is getting agitated by the amount of magic. And this is going to sound crazy, but I'd swear there was a potential wing mate somewhere among us in the crowd. Every time I think I'm getting close, someone sets off some display or trick of light and sound, and I lose them. Did you see the dragon someone made appear over the dancers? It was pretty amazing.

I did, and I'm getting the same feeling. I also have this feeling that something's about to happen.

I got your back. I've been trying to keep my line of sight on you and Garrett all evening. Nik might be a little peeved that I've been making him go in and get the food and drinks and bring it back to me.

You'll have to make it up to him later, Skye sent.

I plan to. Stay safe and keep Corbin closer if you can.

"This is so different than anything I've ever seen before," Jhaeros said as he moved up beside Skye. He seemed to be watching the dancers with a curious and yet confused expression.

"I doubt you had much to celebrate, and it seemed pretty clear it was a hard life without food to spare. Always on guard and watching for the next attack," Garrett said.

"It wasn't always that bad. It got that way over the last season when the tremors got so much worse. Not that there was ever food or drink like what they have here. But we got by," Jhaeros said as a familiar-looking elf waved and gave him a big smile.

"Someone you know?" Skye asked.

"Huh?" Jhaeros turned to Skye. "You mean Fionn? Not really, but I've seen him a couple of times. Pretty sure he's one of the mages."

"Oh, you're right! I thought he looked familiar," Skye said, realizing that's why he knew him. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

"Very much. I like it better being with your wing and having people I can ask. There's so much that is new and different or that I don't know how to interpret. Sometimes I also don't understand what they're saying. The language is similar, but some words..."

"Sorry. When we get you home to Draga, we'll make sure you get a symbiot that will help with languages. Until then, maybe I can ask the mages if they have a spell or talisman that will help you," Skye said.

"Is that how you speak my language so well?" Jhaeros asked.

"It is. I don't even realize when I change languages sometimes. I'm sorry I didn't think of it sooner."

"I'll add it to my list for you, Skye," Venci said. "We'll need to do the same for Mattekin and Revali. I'm assuming full royal protocol like we've done for the others?"

"Yeah, and upgraded bio-comms," Garrett added.

Skye saw Jhaeros's confused look and realized that even with the symbiots some words wouldn't translate. "Don't worry about it, Jhaeros; we'll take care of you."

"Um... I think that big guy is coming our way," Jhaeros said in a nervous whisper.

It wasn't hard to figure out who Jhaeros was talking about. The ogre chieftain, Thockta was hard to forget-though Skye really wanted to try. The crowd parted in front of the lumbering giant without a word.

"Dragon," Thockta said with what sounded more like a thundering growl.

"Chief Thockta." Skye bowed his head in deference, very glad that the fae didn't shake hands.

"You did good. Underhill is much better than other place. But will need more space soon, more things to hunt."

"I understand, Thockta. I am working on looking for places for resettlement for all of the dark fae. Unfortunately until the gateways reopen, our options are limited."

"Mmph. You think hard, Dragon." Thockta turned and strode away.

"That was...different," Venci said from behind Skye.

"But so much better than it could have gone," Garrett said.

"I'm guessing that having seen what goes on at court makes this nostalgic," Skye said.

"Can't ever recall an ogre coming before the Assembly before, though it might be an interesting spectacle." Garrett looked far too happy with the idea, as far as Skye was concerned.

"Well, you may yet get a chance. If the dark fae are repopulated into the Empire, that makes them citizens, and I expect they'll want representation beyond Thilleon."

"It will take a while for there to be any trust between the dark and light fae," Venci said.

"They seem to be keeping the peace for now," Corbin added as he handed them a treat that smelled of nuts and cinnamon.

"Where's Raphael?" Skye hadn't seen the elf in a while or even noticed him from a distance.

"He's still with River and Nik." Corbin put a hand on Skye's arm. Something's up with the ranger. He's acting strangely. He says he needs to stay with you but has been doing his best to put as much distance between you and him as he can.

I don't get any sense of danger or betrayal. His thoughts are directed more inward, and I'm betting it has something to do with the vision. I don't think he got the same sending as everyone else.

Is there something we should do? Maybe let the others know so they can keep an eye on him? Corbin asked.

My gut says let it be, and Mistral agrees. But thank you for watching out for us.

"Would you like to dance?" Garrett asked as Skye finished the pastry.

"I'd love to." Skye took Garrett's hand and moved closer to the musicians and out of the pathway by the booths. Not exactly The Lust Factory, but this is nice.

Anytime I get to hold you, it's nice. Garrett tipped Skye's head down and kissed his forehead.

What? No lips? Skye objected.

I was trying for romantic. Garrett grabbed the back of Skye's neck and pressed their mouths together, teasing Skye's lips with his tongue to get him to open for him.

Mmm...much better. Skye deepened the kiss and for a few minutes forgot about everything but how much he loved his mate. They danced and enjoyed the music until the performers took a break. The drinks might not have been strong enough to get a dragon drunk, but Skye was feeling pretty mellow.

"Come on, there's more food to try," Noud said.

They'd hit a couple more booths when Skye turned at a commotion nearby.

"Please! You have to let me through," a voice demanded. At first, Skye thought it was a woman, but the voice seemed too deep and then he saw why.

"Prince! Prince Dragon! I need to talk to you," the female dwarf called. At least Skye thought it was a female, the beard made it hard to tell, but either that or the man had some serious pec challenges.

It's okay, guys. Let her through, Skye sent to Mica, Bram, and Corbin, who were holding her back.

She didn't look all that different from the male dwarves he'd seen on hell world, though fortunately, it appeared they'd taken to wearing more clothing here in Underhill. She was maybe four and a half feet tall, with dark curly hair, dark eyes, and a full beard.

When she reached Skye she attempted an elaborate curtsy, which to Skye's mind looked more comedic than respectful. Fortunately he was successful in not letting it show. He bowed his head in return.

"Greetings, I'm Prince Skye D'Or Drakken. Were you looking for me?"

"You're the one. The one who rescued us from exile?"

"I and my team, along with King Arnakkhor." Skye gestured to the wing who was with him.

"You're the right one. You were in my dream. You have to take my son! Please, the dreams showed me!"

"What's going on!" a deep voice shouted, and soon several more dwarves joined them, pushing through the crowd, including their Chieftain, Gramthor, who they'd met at the entrance to their caves on hell world.

"Kabli! How'd you get loose? I told you no and made it clear you were not to bother the prince," Gramthor shouted.

"You don't understand, Chieftain! The dreams. They showed me. Kibli has to go with the dragons!"

"The naked rat? Are you out of your mind, woman? Bad enough you birthed that thing, we're not going to let you bring more shame on our tribe. You've done enough." Gramthor turned to Skye and Garrett and gave a poised bow. "My apologies for this intrusion."

Skye listened and felt Mistral nudging him to look further into Kabli's plea. It didn't take much when his shields were mostly open, and the dwarf was practically shouting her thoughts. Her love of her son and belief in the dream that Underhill had given her came through strongly.

'What do you think, Mistral?'

'We need to meet this Kibli and decide for ourselves. I don't care what he looks like, and so far, Underhill hasn't steered us wrong, even if its approach is questionable.'

I gotta say, I agree, Skye. Something about this strikes me as odd and too similar to what we ran into with Revali and the sirens, Garrett said.

"Gramthor, no apologies are needed. Bram, would you be so kind as to make arrangements with Lady Telawynn to have Kabli and her son meet with us at the hold tomorrow?"

"Now listen, Dragon-" Gramthor began.

"Please, Gramthor. Perhaps there is a way that I can rid you of this embarrassment. We want your return to Underhill to be focused on your future and hope for your tribe."

Gramthor's mouth opened as if to speak, and Skye could feel the thoughts tumbling through his mind. He was struggling to determine if he'd been insulted or if Skye might be of like mind and could solve his problem.

"Being part of the Imperial Court, I can assure you that we are well versed in the difficulties of leadership and may have solutions that you wouldn't have access to or that might not be politically judicious for you to pursue," Garrett explained.

Impressive, Garrett, even if I'm not sure what you said. Now Skye knew Gramthor was confused. Fortunately the Chieftain decided that it was likely they'd make Kabli's son disappear and possibly Kabli as well, so he was on board.

"Of course. I just hate to impose when you and your men have already done so much for us," Gramthor said.

"I'll be in touch tomorrow to give you details, Chieftain," Bram said.

"Very good." He gave a signal to his fellow dwarves, and they physically maneuvered Kabli to follow them. Skye hoped that they did not treat her harshly or take out their frustrations on her or her son. Still, he was limited in what they could do without causing more of a scene.

No, what we did was the best. Garrett assured him. "There's a new group singing. Why don't we dance some more and forget about short, squat dwarves with attitude problems."

"Garrett!" Skye was glad Garrett was at least speaking in low tones - but he could have mind-spoken and not risked embarrassing them. What if someone heard?

The music and Garrett's arms soon had Skye forgetting about the dwarf. He knew there was a lot of magic in the air, but he couldn't help but think the elf singing had some bardic gift. He could feel the emotions down to his bones and wasn't sure he could keep his body from responding to the rhythm.

You doing okay? Garrett whispered into Skye's mind.

I am. Guess it goes without saying, but everything feels magical and bigger than life. The music, the food, the illusions, and the light shows. I can understand how the legends built of humans getting pulled in and never leaving.

Our wing-mates are enjoying themselves as well. Okay, maybe not Mica and Corbin-they're way too serious, Garrett sent.

They take their roles very seriously. I'm afraid River isn't doing much better. I've checked in on him a couple of times, and he's on edge. The rest of the group seems to be dipping their toe in but wanting to stay on guard. Venci and Jhaeros might be the exception, though Gilian seems pretty relaxed. Chaz is focused on Revali. Teak is dragging Jayce to try his favorite fairy delicacies. The image of the two together and the picture they must present sent a wave of heat through Skye.

'It is a pretty picture. Both so handsome and all done up in their elf finery,' Mistral mused.

Someday we'll be somewhere that they can all relax and enjoy themselves, Garrett said.

It may sound strange, but I really miss the cabin when we were all together. That-

Skye. Lady Telawynn is approaching. She appears to be looking for you, and Mordish is with her, Mica sent, interrupting Skye's conversation with Garrett.

Skye gave Garrett a quick kiss as they pulled apart. The good part of keeping his mind open was he didn't have to explain to Garrett as he'd heard Mica as easily as Skye. Realizing how easily he mind-spoke with his team or privately with individuals, he sent a quick mental "thank you" to Kwill for training him so well. It no longer took concentration or effort; he just did it without thinking.

"Oh, Prince Skye, Prince Garrett, I'm glad I found you. Mordish has a concern he wanted to speak to you about," Lady Telawynn's whiskey voice carried surprisingly well, even over the music.

"Of course," Garrett said and led them closer to one of the tents.

"I don't want to alarm you, but something is odd," the elf mage, Mordish began.

"Go on," Garrett encouraged.

"The magic... It's too...I don't know, strong, and it's fluctuating. I asked Oisin and Fionn to check the perimeter of the meadow. It's almost as if reality is fading in and out."

"What did they report back?" Skye asked.

"That's why I asked Lady Telawynn to help find you. They haven't. I walked the edge of the forest myself just now. I don't see them anywhere, and I had a very strong sense that I shouldn't try to leave or enter the woods. I've used similar spells enough to know that it wasn't just my imagination," Mordish said.

"Do you think someone is in danger?" Garrett asked.

Skye felt Corbin press into his side protectively, and he knew without looking that Venci was right behind him. Even Bram and Noud had moved in closer while Mica stood to Garrett's right.

"I don't know what to think. This much magic..." Mordish waved his arms around at the celebration. "Is unprecedented. I've never felt so much power in my life, and it's not just the heartstone."

"Maybe we should seek out Master Mage Quanta?" Mica suggested.

"I'm afraid he's unlikely to be able to help. Remember Underhill and the fae magic is somewhat new to him. Correct me if I'm wrong, Mordish, but I don't get the feeling this is spell casting by a mage," Skye said.

"No, not even several mages. This is more like the heartstone but perhaps... I don't know, Underhill itself?"

"Since your first visit, things have been changing in Underhill. We've discussed how it seems to be coming back to life. And I've certainly seen more magic and activity than I ever have in the past," Lady Telawynn said.

"Mordish, do you sense any intent - especially ill intent from the magic?" Skye asked. He concentrated on his own senses and prodded Mistral to pay attention. Between the set up for the celebration and the entertainers, the magic still felt chaotic, and there it was again, a subtle tug.

"No, Prince Skye. I didn't pick up any purpose or intent," Mordish answered.

"Everything okay?" River asked as his group joined them.

"Not sure. Mordish was alerting us that the magic is unusually strong, and there may be a spell of sorts keeping people in the meadow," Garrett responded.

"Duh. I could have told you the magic was juiced up. It's making my skin tingle, and Storm is agitated," River said.

"Maybe it would be prudent to send Gilian and the others back to the hold. They've all shown face, and I don't want to push our luck," Mica suggested

"Agreed." Skye said and made sure the link was open to the group for Mica to reach out to them.

Those of you planning to return to the hold should do so now. Please meet up at the tent we talked about earlier and travel together. Mattekin, have you decided if you wish to return or take your chances? Mica sent.

I'll return with the others, Mattekin said - his mind-voice still somewhat weak through the new bond.

"Skye, you and your wing have made a suitable appearance. If you wish, I don't think any would take issue with you leaving. Our celebrations often last until morning, and guests will come and go all night. If you're concerned, walk one more circuit before you depart," Lady Telawynn said.

"I think we could manage that," Skye said, giving his wing-mates a chance to tell him otherwise through their bond if they had any objections. When he got several agreements, and no one dissented, he decided it was the plan. "Thank you, Lady Telawynn, it has been a lovely evening. We're all agreed to make one more pass in case I missed greeting anyone who was looking for us."

Rather than separate, River and Nik and the rest of the group stayed together. Skye noticed that Raphael was hanging back again. The whole need to be with you then keeping a distance was starting to make Skye wonder.

'Don't worry about it. I'm sure he'll explain when he's ready. I'm more surprised that Bryan hasn't been stuck to him. Did you notice he keeps looking at him and clenches his fist when anyone else talks to the ranger?' Mistral asked.

'I noticed, and if it's meant to be, it will probably happen pretty quickly. I'm glad Kuai had a chance to get it out of his system before this happened. That would have been awkward.'

Maybe they'd have been a throuple, Garrett sent, jumping into Skye's conversation with Mistral.

'Oh, they had some heat, but I don't think they have enough in common. We'll find Kuai a mate that's a perfect fit.'

Eventually, Garrett added.

They began to make a circuit around the dancers and musicians, who were in the center of the grounds. Skye figured if anyone did want to speak with them, it put them in view without interrupting the revelry. He couldn't help but carry on a private dialogue with River as the spectacle was too much not to deserve comment. A couple of observations he'd made so far were that goblins creeped him out, ogres were not only big but scary, and that he had to have serious respect for dwarves. Because really, if they could look at a female dwarf and still make little ones-

Centaurs... Want me to go give 'em what for and make sure they stay away from you? River teased, interrupting Skye's thoughts.

I'm good. Though it reminds me, I'll have to deal with Caladwen and also meet with the Centaurs when we return to Draga. Skye knew his brother was trying to keep it light just as Skye had done when several nymphs had fangirled over River and offered all kinds of services that made Skye blush just thinking about. Fortunately, River had taken it in stride, and Nik had made sure they didn't get within touching distance.

He had to admit that he didn't have near the trauma with Centaurs as River did with female nymphs. His memories were already fogged by the drugs, and he also knew the Centaur had no more choice than Skye did at the time. He would have to make sure Kwill and Beck continued to help River with his reaction to nymphs when they returned.

Nah, I'm good. OH. MY. GOD. Are those pixies? Skye stared and may have stopped abruptly, causing Garrett to run into him.

That group dancing in a circle? River asked.

I think so? Skye had never seen a pixie, but from Teak's description... The human-sized dancers were similar to nymphs but more petite with over-sized pointed ears and larger eyes. They somehow looked more "other," and from the artist renditions he'd studied in school - more "fae." That could also be accentuated by the varying skin tones from tans to blues and greens. They also didn't seem to go for a whole lot of clothing. Can they shift like Teak? I sort of assumed they'd be little like he is in his fairy form.

Ask him. Or maybe the elves know?

Anyone know if pixies can change size like fairies? Skye asked to the group, making sure to include Raphael, Bram, and Noud.

Bram responded. They can but don't do it often. Actually, come to think of it, I've only ever seen them take a larger form in Underhill.

Same, Noud added.

I don't think pixies have as much magic as the fairies. I could be wrong, but I think that's why they typically only shift here, Raphael added.

You okay, Raphael? It's almost like you're avoiding me, Skye sent privately to the ranger.

I'm fine, and why would I avoid you? I need to stay close, remember.

But- Skye began when Gilian's mind-voice interrupted them.

Guys. We can't leave. We've tried several times, and I even tried to lead them through the woods and not take the path. Which incidentally, isn't there anymore.

If Gilian couldn't find it when she'd grown up coming to Underhill, then Skye thought he had reason to be concerned.

Wait there. We're just finishing our loop and will join up with you. Skye sent.

  • Scene 6 *

I'm not imagining it, am I? Garrett mentally whispered to Skye as they drew close to the rest of their team.

I don't think so. Sure looks like the path is there to me, Skye responded.

"I swear it wasn't there moments ago," Gilian said as soon as they were close enough for her to speak out loud.

"I'll vouch for that. I even cast a seeking spell, and it's as though it was never there," Mattekin added.

Skye looked at the druid and realized he hadn't taken time to see him in his finery. Like River and Nik, Mattekin was in shades of green and brown. He looked good, really good.

"Since the path is there, let's return to the hold while we can." Mica cautiously moved to the edge of the meadow where the path began. He put his hand forward and didn't appear to encounter any resistance. "I'm not sensing a barrier. Mattekin, do you sense anything off about the pathway?"

"No. There's so much magic in the air, it's hard to be certain, but I don't sense the 'move away' magic that was here when we tried before."

"All right. Everyone find your buddies and line up," Mica said. "Bryan, you're on point. Chaz and Jayce, you cover Nik. Bram and Noud, you step in where you want."

They walked along the path, and to Skye everything seemed right. Thick forest with bio-luminescent plants sprinkled throughout. Flowers that glowed and odd "creatures" that fluttered in the foliage. The magic luminaries were still there, lighting the path. By his memory, they should almost be at the hold.

Does everyone else notice how quiet it is? Shouldn't we be hearing trills, croaks, and chittering? Teak asked the group, getting brief agreement from the other wing-mates.

Skye paused and listened. Teak was right, there wasn't a sound, and usually the nighttime sounds bordered on deafening. 'Shit, Mistral. That can't be good.'

Everyone stop! Hold your places, Bryan called out, giving the hand signal as well. His image wavered a bit as he stepped forward, and then he was back and not looking happy.

The delea grove, he shared with a shake of his head.

How, we've been going in the right direction? Gilian's disbelief was clear in her voice. She walked up to Bryan and stepped past him. Just like Bryan, her image wavered before she turned back to the group. He's right.

Do we head back to the celebration? Nik asked.

We can try. And not to be a wet blanket, but I'm afraid we'll likely end up in the same spot. Skye had that sinking feeling again and remembered all too clearly how Underhill could herd you with ease.

I suggest we at least try. What do you think, Mica? Corbin asked.

Skye took a moment while they talked to privately make sure Bram and Noud knew what was going on. Without being bonded as wing-mates, their ability to mind-speak with the team was limited and not always reliable.

The path was too narrow for them to easily change order, so that put Corbin in the lead for their return trek. They'd barely gone any distance when Corbin's hand went up, signaling them to stop.

"Hold!" Corbin called out loud.

Skye couldn't see anything but the path ahead and wondered what had caused Corbin to stop. Then he saw Corbin's image waver and he knew.

Let me guess, delea grove? Garrett said.

Corbin nodded. Yeah...

We're wasting our time fighting this. Maybe if I go in, Chaz and the others can try going back the other way. Before you complain about splitting up, it's the only way I know to not all end up in the orgy.

Well, if none of them got visions of being in the grove... Mica started before Jayce interrupted.

No, I definitely got the vision, Jayce said, and Skye could feel his wing-mate's embarrassment.

Me too, Teak and Mattekin said at the same time..

Mine wasn't like the rest of yours, but I was in the grove, Chaz said.

Revali? Mica asked.

No. I don't remember any dreams or visions. I promise.

I know it isn't what we planned for, but I doubt any escape is possible for those who had the visions. I'd recommend that Gilian should be the one to try and take Revali back to the hold, Mica said. That gives them the best chance.

After a brief discussion, the group agreed Mica's suggestion was the best course of action. Skye looked at Gilian but couldn't see her face clearly in the near-darkness. He felt an odd mix of apprehension and nervousness but trusted Gilian enough to say if something was wrong.

Good luck, Skye sent as Gilian put her arm over Revali's shoulder and led him away from the group.

"Everyone ready?" Mica asked out loud to the group.

"As I ever will be," Skye felt Garrett's warm arms wrap around him in a hug.

We got you. Garrett kissed Skye's neck.

Skye followed Mica and Corbin. Though it looked as if they were just proceeding along the same path, their forms wavered-like the effect heat had rising from a highway. Then they were gone. Skye gritted his teeth but continued to follow, taking some comfort from Garrett's strong grip on his hand. He also wasn't too worried since he still felt Mica and Corbin through their bond as clearly as he had before they disappeared.

The only indicator Skye had before the grove appeared before him was a tingle of magic. He moved forward so as not to be in the way as the others came through. Not feeling any immediate threats and knowing Mica and Corbin were already there, Skye took time to look around.

Like the trees around the meadow, firefly-like creatures twinkled in the trees, and there was enough clearance that moonlight made it seem more like dusk.

'Wait...moonlight? Mistral, I don't remember seeing a moon before in Underhill.'

'And we still haven't. Look at the sky-stars but no moon.'

Then where is the light coming from?

'Magic?' Mistral replied.

The grove of delea trees was substantially larger than on his last visit. Big enough that he couldn't easily see the edge where the forest began. So many trees, and all of them in full bloom-heavy with the sweet pink blossoms. The ground between the trees was lush with thick moss and hillocks and bumps covered in fallen petals. He turned and was surprised to see neatly stacked blankets and pillows next to a table-like surface laden with foods and drinks.

"Garrett," Skye whispered, drawing his mate's attention.

"Guess we were expected, huh?"

The rest of the wing had now joined, and Mica was coordinating the others in doing a sweep of the area. Skye knew River and he were expected to stay still and with their mates until Mica gave an all-clear.

"It smells amazing," River said, taking a deep breath. "And even more gorgeous than the cherry blossom festival."

"Yeah, but remember these have a kick," Skye reminded him.

"This is where Caladwen-" Nik started and caught himself.

"Yes and no. The grove wasn't nearly this large or healthy when I was here before," Skye said as he saw that Teak had shrunk down to his fairy form and was flying over to him.

"I was just saying it changed," Skye said when Teak landed on his shoulder.

"You can say that again," Teak said, wrapping a hand in Skye's hair to steady himself.

"Why'd you go fairy-sized?" River asked.

"Because that's the way I was in the vision. And no offense, but wild pixie sex with a bunch of elves really doesn't do it for me. I'm saving myself for my brothers, thank you very much."

"Why do you have to be here if you're not having sex?" Nik asked.

"I get to play Venci," Teak responded as if he'd laid out a complete and detailed explanation.

"Say what? You're going to play with me?" Venci seemed rather confused.

"Nah, I get to direct the horny elves to Skye for their treatment, then to the next available wing-mate for a good banging. That's usually your job, but since you've got to be plowing elf tush..."

"Ugh, you make it sound so vulgar. I'll be helping them realize their secret desires and letting them have a glimpse of how wonderful it will be when they have a dragon mate," Venci responded.

"Uh-huh, yeah." Teak nodded.

"Now what?" River asked.

"We wait for the okay and then check out the food," Nik said.

"Are you still hungry?" River asked.

"Always," Nik responded.

The time waiting gave Skye the opportunity to look around and check his link with all his wing-mates. He didn't sense distress from any and wasn't picking up anything from Gilian and Revali so he was taking that as a good sign. A scream from off to his left had Skye spinning around and drawing his magic.

"Well damn, how'd we get here?" a voice called out.

Seconds later Mica was leading a disgruntled looking pair of elves, Oisin and Fionn, to where Skye was waiting.

"Perimeter is clear, but there appears to be a barrier of some type. You can see through it but neither Corbin nor I could pass through. Though... maybe it's one way since these two popped out of nowhere-right in front of us."

"I have no idea how we got here. We were walking a circuit around the meadow because something felt off, and then I swear someone pushed me. Oisin felt the same. And we've been wandering in the woods for who knows how long until all of a sudden we took a step and were here," Fionn explained.

Skye remembered the two from when he was healing the mages from the curse. They were mages assisting Mordish. Fionn had stuck in Skye's memory. Whether from his bright blond hair or the large blue eyes, he wasn't sure.

I think it was because he looks so adorably fuckable, Garrett helpfully added.

And then Oisin, also somewhat of a twink, even for an elf, with his dark blond hair, pale skin, and emerald green eyes. Okay, Garrett, I'll grant you that may be why I remember them. They give off the same vibe as those young dragons at the Lust Factory.

Ready for an adventure? Garrett suggested.

Well, regardless, I think they just fell into one.

Seconds later, before they'd even had time to check on the two elves, there was another shout, but from a different part of the grove.

"I'll check it out," Corbin said before sprinting off in the direction of the yell.

"Skye," Teak tugged on Skye's hair to get his attention. "In my vision, our wing-mates each took a blanket and found a spot they liked. And I know this is going to sound weird, but if there's any spillage, it needs to go on the ground, not the blanket."

Skye snorted as Teak's words connected some dots. Skye quickly relayed the message to the wing. 'So sex magic for the win, Mistral.' "I'm not surprised, Teak. Do you know where I'm supposed to be?"

"By the fancy throne." Teak's words drew the attention of several of those around him.

"Uh...what throne?" Skye barely got the words out when a fancy chair on some type of base moved into sight, near the next row of trees. It took some concentration for him to see the brownies that were guiding it. Yet, he was also relieved to see the throne wasn't just floating in by itself.

"Brownies..." River whispered.

I'm on my way back. Everything's okay, Aksel says he was pushed through, and he's freaking out a bit, but he's not hurt. Corbin shared with the group.

'Again strange, but I'm not surprised, Mistral. Especially with what Quanta shared with us. I have a feeling the elves will be showing up soon.'

'We need to find out more about this "throne." It may be symbolic somehow,' Mistral replied.

Skye looked back to where the brownies worked to get the chair set in place on the rough ground. He had come to think of them as the unsung workers in Underhill. Hiding out of sight but doing much of the work to keep everything going. It wasn't bright enough to see clearly but from the distance, it reminded Skye of the chair that was set up in the grand hall. The one he'd brought back to life on his first visit to Underhill.

"I have to sit on that? It's a bit over the top, don't you think?" Skye asked.

"You did in my dream. But you didn't stay there, you also moved around, and I brought the elves to you." Teak was moving from foot to foot as if nervous, making Skye's shoulder muscles twitch.

"Can I ask, are we supposed to be feeling something? 'Cause I'm starting to feel funny," Jayce asked.

"It's nothing like when they rained down us, but I do feel like it's getting warmer," Nik said.

Skye was going to ask Bram, Noud, or Raphael if they knew more, but not one of them were in sight. Where'd they go?

Mica has them watching the perimeter in case anyone else comes through, Garrett sent.

"If it's safe for the moment, I'm going to check out the food," Skye said. "Come on, guys. I'm sure you're still hungry."

"About time," Nik said, dragging River with him as Kuai followed close behind.

Skye looked over the selection and smiled. He wasn't sure how, but they'd provided all his favorites from the meadow. And it looked like there was enough to feed not only them, but any elves who got peckish.

A dark head popped up on the other side of the food, and Skye let out a surprised "eep."

"Master Skye?" the brownie said, looking nervously at River and Nik.

That's a brownie. Awe was clear in River's mind-voice. They never let us see them this close up.

"I'm Skye. How can I help you?"

"I was asked to give this to you." The brownie held out something hanging from a leather cord.

Skye took it and could feel the warmth of magic in the small stone chit. He recognized the rune carved into it as the sign of "earth" with an embellishment. "Who asked?"

"He said his name was Quanta and that you had to wear that." The brownie pointed at the chit.

Skye put it around his neck and took a deep breath. It was the first time he felt like he could breathe since they'd left the hold. He felt calmer and more grounded already.

"It's good?" the brownie nodded excitedly.

"It is, thank you." Skye looked at the spread of food and gestured. "Tell me, what is your favorite?" When the brownie pointed, Skye took a cloth and wrapped up several of the pastries and handed it to the brownie.

"Thank you! Thank you!"

Before Skye could say or do more, the brownie was gone. River reached out and rubbed his fingers over the small stone-or maybe it was ceramic? Skye wasn't sure.

"I can feel it. Nice." River smiled.

"I should check on him. Let him know his mate is here." Skye reached out to see if he could connect with Quanta. It wasn't as easy without a bond, but after the number of times they'd spoken mind-to-mind, Skye knew what the master mage felt like. Quanta?

Thank the heavens. Aksel said he is with you, Quanta responded.

He is. He just arrived in the grove. Please let Mordish know that Oisin and Fionn are here also. Thank you for the talisman.

Good, you got it. Took me forever to catch a brownie to ask. It should help your mind stay clear, but I need to warn you, I have no idea how long it will last.

That's okay, Quanta. Every minute helps.

Please look out for my mate. I'll stay near the barrier just in case. Good luck, Quanta sent.

I will and thank you. Skye pulled back and saw that Aksel had joined them. Aksel was a gold, and Skye guessed of a similar age to Darius, given that he could grow facial hair. Aksel wore a short-cropped beard that was a shade darker brown than his hair. Overall he was a handsome dragon, and as a human, no one would look at him and believe he had full- grown sons.

"What's going to happen?" Aksel asked.

"You probably know more than I do. I expect your vision to play out. Perhaps not exactly as in your dream, but close. Since I didn't get a sending, I don't have anything I can add. Quanta is staying as close as he can. I'm assuming your connection to your mate is strong and you've been able to talk, or I guess mind-speak?"

"We have. I'm afraid my military training and time in HealthCorps did not train me for magic or this." Aksel waved his hand around, indicating the grove.

"Are you going to be okay with this?" Skye asked, feeling apprehensive that the buttoned-up dragon might not be too happy about things.

"Are you kidding? Sex with as many elves as I can handle? Oh, son, this is a dragon's wet dream. I just hope I have the stamina to keep up."

'Good dragon. And you doubted?' Mistral whispered into Skye's mind.

Skye turned when he felt Mica's mind brush against his before the words came.

It has started. Several elves have come through, not from the same place either. Arnak and his brother as well a few of those who fought with us. Some other elves I've seen but don't know.

"I guess it's time to get to work, babe." Garrett pulled Skye in for a kiss. It's going to be okay. Accept that your dragons are more than okay with this, even if it makes you uncomfortable. I won't judge if you resist but know that I'm okay with you joining in as well.

I love you so friggin much. Skye wrapped himself around his mate and hugged him tightly. Be careful.

Garrett winked at him before stepping back and saluting.

"Let's go try out that throne, Bro." River grabbed Skye's arm and tugged him to follow. It wasn't far, but the ground was so uneven, he had to watch his step and take a roundabout path. The chair did indeed resemble the one from the great hall, but this one was decorated with fruits instead of flowers. It sat on a wooden dais, and Skye had to wonder how the brownies had managed to find a large enough flat space to set it down.

"Pretty fancy," Nik said, running his hand over the gilded arm of the chair.

"You seem to have found it," Arnak's voice said from behind Skye.

Skye turned and gave Arnak a questioning look.

"Remember I told you there were a pair of thrones. That is the one you were missing." Arnakkhor pointed.

Skye was surprised to see Arnakkhor here, but then Allanna's words came back to him and made more sense, given the situation. "I wasn't expecting to see either of you here." Skye gave a nod to Kazemkhor.

"I'd like to say we gave it great thought and consideration, but that would be a lie. The dream was enticing, but I still had or rather have doubts. But I guess the decision was made for us because Kazem and I stepped behind one of the booths for a quiet word, and then we were here."

"We are somewhat guessing that if you got the vision, you'll end up here one way or another," Garrett said.

Skye froze as he felt a wave of strong frustration.

Goddess! Why? Gilian's mind-voice echoed through the bond.

I'm on it, Skye, Bryan's voice came through almost immediately.

Skye, if you hadn't guessed, Gilian just appeared in the grove. Revali is not with her, Kuai sent.

Skye wondered if Gilian had been honest about the vision when he'd picked up conflicting emotions. He guessed that now they had the answer.

'We should check on Revali,' Mistral reminded him.

Revali, are you okay? Where are you? Skye concentrated on the bond and other than a little trepidation, didn't get anything to cause him concern.

I'm fine. We were almost in sight of the hold when Gilian disappeared. I made it the rest of the way without any problems, and a brownie helped me find our rooms, Revali said.

Take care of yourself, and we'll be back soon. Skye quickly let the rest of the wing know about Revali.

"Everything well?" Arnakkhor asked.

"Yes, thank you. As you discovered, if Underhill wants you here, you don't get a choice. Fortunately, our recently bonded siren was given a pass and is safely back at the hold."

"Prince Skye, not to rush you, but may I ask? What does it feel like to be 'changed'?" Kazemkhor asked.

"If I may?" Chaz asked.

"Of course." Skye hadn't even realized that his were-dagger had joined them.

"Skye used his power on me earlier today. I felt a tingle, and then a warmth spread through my body. Best way to describe it is to say it felt as if a weight was lifted from my shoulders. Otherwise, I don't feel any different," Chaz explained.

"Are you sure you want to do this, Kazemkhor? It doesn't mean you have to mate with a dragon, nor will it guarantee that you find a mate. The change makes it so you are compatible, nothing more."

"I'm ready." Kazemkhor stepped forward, closing his eyes and clenching his fists.

Skye resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He placed a hand on Kazemkhor's chest and drew his magic. Like with the others, he found the night elf's core blocked and burned it away. "It is done."

"Really? That's it?" Kazemkhor opened his eyes in disbelief.

"Sorry, for what it does, the change is rather anti-climactic."

"Prince Skye?" Arnakkhor stepped forward.

Skye could see the hope in the dark fae king's eyes. This seemed like an even bigger change for him, and Skye hoped it didn't put him at odds with his people. But surely the fates would be kind. The man had been through so much. Mated to the Queen of Air and Darkness, exiled, watched his people fade, it was a lot for anyone to endure. But then again, the universe was changing.

He put his hand on Arnakkhor's chest and pulled his magic. With Allanna's words fresh in his mind, he didn't need to ask again. He trusted her sight and belief this would be a good thing. It happened quickly, and Arnakkhor stepped back, blinking, and then he smiled.

"Please, there's food and drink, and you know several of my guys. Enjoy yourself." Skye said as he saw Teak flying ahead of a couple of elves he didn't recognize as well as Kavide and Zade, two night elf warriors who had helped them with the rescue.

Skye, three more dragons just came through. Hanan and the two other silver mages who came to Underhill with Master Mage Quanta. Also thought you should know, I think the blossoms are starting to get to me... Not sure how long I can hold out, Corbin sent.

Skye thought about it and even asked Mistral for an opinion, but they came to the same conclusion. There is no point in fighting the pull. This is what Underhill wanted from us, and unless you have other objections, I say go for it. Skye communicated his answer to all the wing, acknowledging that they were all likely feeling it if Corbin was.

Teak had a queue formed in front of the throne. There were so many that Skye wasn't sure he could keep track of them all. He recognized a few, but many were strangers. He wondered if he'd see any other races, but so far only the elves-both night elves and the light elves. He paused and turned to look at River when he felt a hand on his arm.

"Sorry, brother. I um... I need to..." River struggled to form thoughts.

Skye reached up and cupped his brother's cheek, following their bond. The delea blossoms had done their work, and River was succumbing to the overwhelming lust and need. Skye was surprised at how strongly it affected the others when so far, he hadn't noticed anything.

'The amulet,' Mistral suggested. 'The earth grounds us and keeps our thoughts clear.'

Skye watched as River and Nik grabbed blankets and headed deeper into the grove. Surprisingly, they weren't going in the same direction.

'Underhill must be influencing them more than with just the blossoms. River and Nik always stay together. And from what I feel from the others...'

'You don't need to say more, Mistral. I may have to shield myself from Garrett or I'll get pulled under. And Venci... Not that he never tops, but, yeah, this is not his normal.' Skye needed to sit and reluctantly planted himself on the throne as he put up a barrier between himself and his mate. Feeling everything that Garrett did and the pleasure he was taking was not something Skye could deal with at the moment.

"Skye. Drink this," Chaz said, handing him a goblet.

"How are you still functioning?" Skye asked and then noticed Teak continuing to herd the elves and keeping impressive order as those changed were led off for carnal pleasures.

"I have no idea, to be honest. Though in my vision, I was by your side and was your protector until..."

"Until?"

"If it plays out, we will both succumb to blossoms eventually, after the elves have been changed."

Skye wanted to ask more because he could feel that Chaz was holding back, but the line continued to grow. Teak drew the next elf up to the throne, and Skye leaned forward, changing another man's destiny.

  • Scene 7 *

'Oh my God, Mistral. Are they finally done?'

'It appears so. There's no one waiting, and Teak said he was going to fly a quick search to see if any more had come in,' Mistral said.

"I brought you another drink and something to eat," Chaz said, handing him a plate of his favorites.

Skye leaned back and sipped the sweet wine.

"I didn't realize there were so many single elves in Underhill," Chaz said, sitting at the base of the throne.

"Me either. How are the others doing? I've been blocking them out and pointedly not looking."

Chaz laughed. "It's an orgy of dragon proportions. Thankfully the elves aren't demanding multiple turns with our wing. They seem to be happy taking each other after they've had some dragon D."

"Ugh. The air is thick with the scent. Has it gotten worse, or am I just noticing?"

"I think whatever resistance Underhill gave us is wearing thin. I notice it too," Chaz said.

Teak flew in and perched on the arm of the chair. "Don't see any more. Probably a good thing because I'm not sure where to put them and our dragons have to be running out of cum by now. Though I gotta say, pretty impressive recovery and endurance."

Skye wasn't sure whether to laugh or sigh. "I hate to ask, but how's Gilian?"

"Um...well...she'd do a pixie proud. She does seem to have enough control to be picky and usually takes the elf while one of the wing-mates is plowing his ass. I didn't expect her to join in so enthusiastically-not being a dragon and all," Teak said.

"I think there was some pent-up need," Chaz said.

"I should walk around. Maybe check on them myself. Would you come with me?" Skye asked.

"Of course," Chaz said, and Teak flew up to perch on Skye's shoulder.

It felt good to move, but Skye couldn't help but feel awkward at seeing the elves in what he thought were private moments. The concept of an orgy wasn't foreign, but somehow what he'd done with his wing-mates didn't compare to this. It also made him squirm to see some of his wing behaving so out of character. Even Jayce, who was giving it to the night elf Kavide with everything he had. It seemed that even Jhaeros had turned the tables on his former fuck buddies, giving it to them rather than taking. Even Bram and Noud were balls deep in a couple of night elves Skye didn't know.

He couldn't help but look. His wing-mates were all handsome. 'Oh, Mistral, does Corbin not have an amazing ass or what?'

Skye reluctantly turned away from Corbin and saw Aksel pounding a pretty blond elf and wondered how much Quanta was picking up from his adventures. Not all bond-mates shared quite as much as he and Garrett could. He again turned away, somewhat embarrassed, and felt Chaz's hand take his and give it a squeeze.

Remember, for dragons, this isn't so unusual.

But I'm a dragon now, and I don't... Skye started and felt Mistral bristle.

Maybe you should? Chaz said.

'He's right. You've got to stop fighting me,' Mistral complained.

He stopped when he saw his mate. Skye didn't feel jealous or bothered by seeing Garrett with the cute elf. He knew to his core that Garrett loved him above all others, and while he might enjoy Fionn's tight little ass, he'd always come back to Skye-his forever mate. Skye made sure to keep his distance so he didn't disturb him. But he wasn't sure he'd get the image of Garrett's large cock in that cute ass out of his mind anytime soon.

'Maybe Fionn will come by for another round after tonight, and we can join?' Mistral's voice sounded so hopeful, Skye knew he probably wouldn't be able to deny him.

Skye stepped into the next row, careful not to trip over the uneven ground. Seeing all the couples and threesomes in action, he better understood the benefits of the topography. The hillocks worked like sex cushions and furniture, allowing for more interesting positions. He looked up and bit his lip as he saw Gilian. She was mounted on Kazemkhor while Bryan used his amazing dick to show the night elf a new world of sensations.

"Skye..." Gilian rasped, holding her hand out in his direction.

He knew what she wanted without her saying more. They'd argued over it several times, but seeing her here and knowing that Underhill made it happen caused him to rethink his hesitance.

"It's what she wants," Teak said into his ear.

"I know." Skye walked over and steadied himself with a hand on Bryan's shoulder as he put his other hand on Gilian-trying very hard to ignore the feel of her breasts as his hand slid between them. He pulled the magic and burned away the barrier, just as he had with the others.

Before Skye had a chance to form the thoughts, Mistral spoke. 'Worry about it another time. Gilian is the only female here, and just because she will be able to bond with a dragon doesn't mean we have to do the change for others. Don't borrow trouble, wait and see.'

"Thank you," Gilian moaned.

As Skye pulled his hand back, he heard a crack and looked down to see that his rune pendant had shattered.

'Oh, Mistral, that doesn't bode well.'

Skye felt the loss of the stone and knew he wouldn't last long. He wondered why Bryan wasn't with Raphael, but before he formed the question, he realized that Bryan was too far gone in his lust. There was no coherent thought left to respond.

"Looks like someone is waiting for you, Skye," Teak said, giving Skye's hair a tug.

Turning around, Skye saw Raphael-a very naked and aroused Raphael- beckoning to him. Skye caught his breath as the ranger looked exactly as he had in his first vision. His raven black hair hung loose, and Skye knew if there were more light, he'd see the dazzling green eyes.

"You've been avoiding me, and yet, you said you needed to stay close," Skye approached Raphael Night Blossom and felt heat filling his body, lust building.

Raphael ducked his head. "It wasn't time. My vision said I had to wait until you changed Gilian."

'That's a little too prophetic, Mistral.'

'Not so prophetic if you remember how Underhill has maneuvered us at each turn.'

As soon as Skye was close, he felt it, that pull he'd been noticing all evening.

'We knew it could change. Like it did with Corey or Simeon and Frankie,' Mistral said.

'But why, Mistral? Why does my magic now notice him? What's changed?'

'Does it matter?' Mistral asked.

Skye wanted Garrett's opinion, but his mate was too lost in the power of the delea grove to be of any help. Skye felt a hand on each arm.

"We can feel it too," Chaz said.

Skye realized that Teak had returned to his human-sized form and was pulling the cloak from Skye's shoulders as Chaz began unfastening his doublet.

"What?" Skye asked in confusion.

"This was in Teak's and my vision. We know what needs to happen, please don't resist. We don't have much time before we won't be able to think." Chaz pulled the doublet off and knelt to help with Skye's boots.

"Don't worry; we'll be staying with you. You and I get to re-live our last visit in the grove, but this time Chaz will join us." Teak pulled off Skye's shirt.

Skye was having trouble keeping his thoughts clear, but he was sure of one thing. He wanted Raphael. He lay back on the moss and watched as Raphael straddled him, giving Skye a perfect view of the ranger's ripped body and perfect pale skin. His cock was hard and leaking.

"Are you sure..." Skye started but was silenced as Raphael kissed him. A jolt, like electricity, surged through his body and he moaned. No question, his magic knew this elf now.

"I've never been more sure of anything in my life." Raphael slowly lowered himself, taking Skye into his wet heat. "Yessss."

It was so like the vision. The feelings, how stunning Night Blossom, who Skye now knew better as Raphael, was as he took him in. 'Bryan is going to be one lucky dragon. Damn, does he feel good.'

"I've wanted you since I first met you." Raphael began moving faster, using Skye to slake his need.

'We owe him more. A wing-mate and likely bond-mate to our Bryan,' Mistral said.

'He's so tight.' Skye struggled to concentrate but managed to pull his magic and began stimulating the elf. He found his pleasure spot and made sure it was getting the massage of a lifetime as he teased and tugged on Raphael's nipples. He poured as much pleasure into the elf as he could. Raphael's tight channel squeezed and stroked, and then Skye felt him constrict even more as hot cum splashed across Skye's chest. Seconds after Raphael's orgasm began, Skye joined him, filling the gorgeous elf with his seed.

A poke from Mistral reminded Skye of what he'd forgotten. While still in the midst of his release, he pushed his magic into the ranger, forming the bond. He pulled him close and bit into the tender flesh where his neck met his shoulder.

Raphael let out a loud moan and shot another load between them.

Skye leaned back, taking the elf with him. They lay still for a few moments as Skye caught his breath. He felt Raphael being lifted away and missed the warmth of his body. But miraculously, this time, he wasn't falling through the ground afterward.

"You still with us?" Corbin leaned in close and gently pushed the hair from Skye's face.

"We have a new wing-brother," Skye murmured.

Teak laughed. "Yeah, we kinda know. Having seen it and felt it."

"Bryan is already with him. I don't think you need to worry about Raphael." Chaz leaned closer and laid a kiss on Skye's forehead.

"You are so sexy." Skye reached up and wrapped his fingers in Chaz's dark curls and pulled him in for a kiss. He moaned as he felt his were- dagger's tongue dip into his mouth. Skye startled for a moment when he felt a warm tongue begin lapping at his spent cock but knew without question that it was Teak. "What?"

"It's our turn. I'm going to fuck you while Teak rides, and then we're going to switch." Chaz bit at Skye's bottom lip as his hands found Skye's nipples.

"Mmm...okay..."

Chaz was inside him, making him feel so incredibly good as he watched Teak's perfect body milk his cock like a pro. Teak rivaled Jayce for beauty but his dark lover, Chaz, being one of the few with body hair, did something primal to Skye's libido. He'd gotten to the point that just having the were-dagger in sight got him hard.

"Even better than I remembered," Teak said as he leaned back and let Chaz wrap his arms around him. One of Chaz's hands was squeezing a nipple while the other stroked the fairy.

"So good," Skye moaned. He knew he was close to losing his ability to think. But he desperately wanted to remember this time with Chaz and Teak. It was perfect. A memory to be cherished.

"UGH!" Teak's cock erupted, sending hot jets of cum over Skye's chest and face, and then he felt the wet heat and knew Chaz had released inside him, his body already absorbing his were-dagger's seed.

When his wing-brothers changed positions, Skye was worried he'd need more time to recharge. Then he saw Chaz's hard cock surrounded by a dark bush with a treasure trail that ran up to his perfect pecs, and he was ready.

"I like the way you look at me," Chaz leaned forward for a kiss.

"I like the way you look. My sexy were-dagger. I'll never be able to refuse you. You know that, right?"

"A man can hope."

Skye groaned as Chaz took him, and then he felt the wonderful fullness as Teak slid inside him.

"Make sure you make lots of noise so I know when I'm doing it right," Teak said over Chaz's shoulder.

"Oh, God. I don't think you could do it wrong, Teak." Skye felt the rumble build in his gut as Mistral began purring in satisfaction. 'Maybe this much sex wasn't so bad after all.'

Skye lost track of time. He'd also long since lost the ability to think or plan. His existence was to find as much pleasure as he could. He wasn't sure, but he thought most of his partners had been wing-mates and not the other elves. If it was true, it made him feel warm and snuggly inside. He loved his wing.

"Need you," a voice rasped so deep that Skye didn't recognize it. But his mind cleared, and he felt the presence of his mate.

He pulled away from Jhaeros, who had fallen asleep, and looked up. Garrett was standing beside him. His muscled body fully on display, his large cock hard and dripping. Sometime during the night, he'd lost the braid, and his hair hung loose, delea blossoms caught in his waves like a fertility god come to claim him. Skye held up his hands, and Garrett fell on him, holding him like a lifeline.

"Please, please, fuck me. I need to feel you inside me." Garrett pulled back and got on his hands and knees, waving his ass in the air. The lust had cleared enough that Skye could think. Skye opened himself up to his mate, no longer holding him back. Even with the power of the delea blossoms, Garrett had sought him out and found him. Garrett needed to connect with Skye, needed his bond-mate to ground him.

'I guess the bond of true mates is even stronger than the blossoms, Mistral.'

Skye didn't need to think to know how to take care of his man. He could do this in his sleep, and as he pushed inside Garrett's tight dragon hole, Skye knew he was home. This was his dragon. His mate. His forever.
