Dancing with the Dragon Chapter 52: Visions by Tripp Savidge
- Scene 1 *
Skye did his very best to ignore the knock at the door.
'It's Mica. Could be something important,' Mistral whispered in his mind.
Skye growled and buried his face in Corbin's neck while wiggling his ass to adjust Garrett's morning wood. Realizing that he was now awake whether he wanted to be or not, Skye reached out to Mica.
Is there a problem? Skye asked, not even bothering to open his eyes.
I thought you'd want to know that the master mage sent word that he'd like to speak with you as soon as you're available, Mica replied as he remained outside the door. Also, Lady Telawynn has joined us for breakfast and asked of you.
I would much rather stay in bed and pick up where we left off, Skye grumbled to himself
'I agree, but...'
We could make Corbin promise to come back, Garrett suggested as he began rubbing his dick against Skye's ass.
True. Skye hugged Corbin tighter and kissed his neck. "Good morning, handsome."
"Mmm," Corbin muttered into the pillow.
"Yeah, we don't want to move either. Garrett and I were hoping you'd agree to come back another night. We could finish what we started."
Corbin laughed. "Hard to believe there's something we didn't already do."
"Maybe, but there are a few worth repeating," Garrett added as he released Skye and sat up.
"Who was at the door?" Corbin asked.
"Mica. Nothing wrong. Just letting me know people wanted to talk to me."
"About the visions?" Corbin asked, turning over to look at Skye.
"I don't know. Garrett didn't get a sending the other night. What did you see?"
"I'm grabbing a quick shower while you two talk." Garrett leaned in and kissed the top of Skye's head before leaving.
"It wasn't very coherent. The wing was in the delea grove-I don't know how we got there or why-and we'd been there long enough that we weren't thinking clearly. Some elves showed up, saying they'd been looking for us. Then everything went sort of hazy, and this handsome elf was begging and pleading for me to take him, and fuck, he was hot. You told us not to fight it, and this voice in my mind kept whispering suggestions of what I should do. When I let go, the vision morphed into one partner after another. I like sex as much as the next dragon, but this was like I'd lost control. I can't say I remember any of the elves enough that I'd recognize them. It was more feelings and sensations without details and the overwhelming sense that I had to do this. I'm sorry there's not more."
"Shit. That sounds so much like Underhill. I hate being manipulated and wish he, it, whomever, would just tell us what they want and why! I can be reasonable, right?" Skye looked at Corbin to see if his wing-mate agreed.
Corbin snorted, then took a deep breath. "Okay, I get it. We might be a stubborn bunch. And sorry, Skye, but you're more obstinate than the rest of us put together."
"I am not!"
'You kind of are. Should I list those you've delayed bonding? Even though you know it is inevitable.'
"Mistral and Corbin are right, Skye." Garrett stepped back into the room, wrapped in a towel. "Doesn't mean you can't still ask Underhill, but maybe if we know what's coming, we can better prepare."
"And how do we prepare? Abstain until it happens so we're already horny?" Corbin detached himself from Skye and stood.
"Hell, no. I'm done with abstaining. Hell world was aptly named," Garrett grumbled as he pulled on his leathers.
Skye smiled at his mate. He never got tired of admiring Garrett's body, and when he turned back to Corbin, he had to bite his lip. Corbin's muscled, round ass looked so fine, and Skye's mind offered up possibilities along with a soundtrack and tastes provided from the night before.
"Fuck, don't look at me like that unless you're going to do something about it!" Corbin groaned.
"That's why you need to come back." Garrett fastened his vest, not even hiding his smirk.
"Last night was great, thank you." Corbin gathered his clothes as if he was planning on leaving.
"Shower in our bath, Corbin. If you want, I'll wash your back for you," Skye offered.
"Ahem. You sure that's a good idea?" Garrett asked.
Skye looked back at Corbin. "No, probably not if I want to get out here soon."
"It's okay. You can go first," Corbin offered.
Skye focused on getting clean quickly and did his best to block any thoughts or images of his mate or Corbin in the next room. He was feeling pretty grounded by the time he stepped back in and then froze at the sight and sounds.
Garrett was fully dressed but on his knees with Corbin spread like a wishbone on the bed, his cock deep in Garrett's mouth.
"Fuuuuuck," Corbin moaned, and Skye picked up the taste and enjoyment from his mate as Corbin came.
Garrett licked him clean and finally turned his gaze on Skye. "What? I couldn't just leave him like that. You got him so worked up the poor dragon was in pain!"
"Mm-hm." Skye crossed his arms but couldn't stay angry as hard as he tried. Mistral helpfully reminded him that he'd have done the same if the roles were reversed. True, he thought.
'We should be happy that our wing-mates can't resist Garrett. It proves how strong our bond is,' Mistral added.
"Come on, Let's see what Quanta and Lady Telawynn want." Skye caught Corbin's eye. "You okay?"
"Mm-hm." Corbin looked a bit out of it, but at least he was smiling.
- Scene 2 *
Skye followed Garrett out the door and groaned when he saw Gilian's expression. She peered past him into the room and laughed.
"Do we need to call for a healer? Can Corbin even walk?"
"Yes, he's fine." Skye refused to look at her as he glanced around to see that the only other person in the sitting room was a blushing Jayce.
"You two on duty?" Garrett asked.
"For a little longer, and yes, we heard more than necessary to know Corbin had a good time." Gilian walked over to the door and checked it before opening it with a bow. "Breakfast awaits."
"Sorry," Skye muttered.
"It's okay. Sounded pretty hot," Jayce whispered, his face going even redder.
Garrett reached out and grabbed Jayce, turning him into his body and claiming the gold's mouth before he had a chance to react. "I think you might be next. Make sure you rest up."
Jayce squeaked and looked at Skye as if he expected him to either save him or object.
"I agree. You'll need your energy," Skye added.
"Ugh, please. You guys are going to make me sick," Gilian groaned.
'Huh... I guess we ought to consider what we do about Gilian and then Leesai when we get back. Not fair to the females if they have to bear witness but never get to play,' Mistral said.
True. And Bryan has been pretty focused on Kuai of late. I guess I should have thought more about balancing our wing. I think most of them strongly prefer men. Skye felt Garrett's hand on his neck and took a deep breath.
It'll be okay. We don't have to solve all the problems right now. And before you worry too much, Gilian's got to give a little. And Leesai has to stop scaring everyone.
"Right." Skye laughed and let Garrett pull him across the hall into the dining room. Even before they arrived, he could hear the voices and laughter. As Skye stepped into the room, it got even louder, and wolf whistles and jibes were added.
"So, Skye, did you leave another dragon satisfied?" River asked.
"Is Corbin even conscious?" Nik asked.
"Everyone is fine, thank you." Skye picked up a plate on the sideboard and tried to ignore the comments, but he couldn't stop the blush when he heard Chaz explaining things to Revali. Skye hadn't thought about their new brother picking up on the spillover. Skye thought he shielded, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, he slipped or forgot. He focused on filling his plate, hoping the comments would die down. Skye turned and saw a couple of chairs open next to Lady Telawynn. She gave him a smile and nodded toward the chair.
"Good morning, Lady Telawynn."
"I understand you had another adventure?"
"Yeah..." Skye was sure that Lady Telawynn was too cultured to be referring to Corbin and thought back to seeing his grandmother.
"Before you ask, I had no idea your grandmother was here in Underhill. I took the liberty of speaking to a few of those I know who work the farm- they said they were told to keep it a secret. If it makes you feel better, they seemed quite protective of her."
"Why?" Skye asked before thinking.
"I expect Underhill didn't want me or others to know. In hindsight, it was probably the best for everyone. I can only imagine how Caladwen would have used her against you. I think it best if we continue to keep it to ourselves. Obviously, your people need to know, but let's not speak of it in front of others."
"Good point. And I am glad Caladwen didn't know. This is all just a lot to take in." Skye looked over at River and saw his brother watching him and felt bad he hadn't explained or shared with him first.
It's okay, Skye. We can talk later, and I think they all need to hear what happened, River sent.
Skye was relieved at River's reaction, and then Mistral reminded him of the visions Garrett had told him about. "So did everyone get visions yesterday? Or was it just my wing-mates?" Skye asked as Garrett took the seat next to him.
Lady Telawynn cleared her throat, and Skye bit back a gasp when he saw her face redden.
"From what I've been told this morning, almost everyone had a sending but not the same one. Mine wasn't as personal or intimate, but I thought it fairly clear in its message."
Skye waited for Lady Telawynn to finish.
"Underhill wants me to encourage our young men to become part of the Empire and avail themselves of every opportunity to meet dragons. While it seems strange, I can also acknowledge that we have far more males than females. The odds of finding a mate and building a family would be much better."
"That must have been some dream!" Venci laughed.
"It was disturbingly direct-showing images of me speaking out to our people and encouraging them to accept Skye's gift. I also saw young families, elves with, what I assume were dragons, some of the elves large with child, while others held babies and toddlers."
"Any idea why Underhill wants this? And won't it cause issues? They exiled Dillon because he has human-colored hair. How will they deal with tainting the race with dragons?" Skye asked, imagining the scenes in his head.
"We've spoken of this before. The fae are being left behind in the Empire's expansion and growth. We've isolated ourselves to the point our birth rate is almost non-existent. Of those born over the last several decades, most are males. We're not even keeping up with replacing those who pass on. Power has shifted to the races who are actively involved in the Empire. At least with the healing of the heart stone and the return of the dark fae, there is hope that the magic will begin to recover. Yes, there will be some that object, but fewer than you expect. Besides, Dillon's exile was about Caladwen much more than his 'tainted' blood."
"I agree that you need to be seen and heard." Mica steepled his fingers and looked deep in thought. "If you want to be relevant, you must be at the table and be seen as an integral part of the Empire. I saw similar dynamics play out in my parent's business as my brothers jockeyed for positions."
"If dragons saw elves as potential mates, they certainly wouldn't ignore them. There aren't enough humans to go around. My fathers were very lucky, but not all dragons are," Jayce added.
"I can see the long-term advantages of having elves in positions of power in the Empire. We have kept to ourselves, and while we have not taken advantage of the Empire's services, we also have no voice in the world that is rapidly changing around us."
"No offense, Lady Telawynn, but that has been by choice. Queen Caladwen was against your people serving outside of the elf kingdom and allowed very few to cross your borders," Garrett added.
"We didn't even count as people to her," Teak added, the derision clear in his voice.
"Well, you ruined that, Teak. Prince Argos thinks you're very talented and has said perhaps we should actively recruit fairies," Skye said, enjoying the smile he got in response.
"I am very aware that we've put ourselves in this position. I may have been kept in Underhill, but word still came to me, and I did try to stay abreast of what my daughter was doing. It took many years to get here, it will take just as many to fix," Lady Telawynn said.
"I can see the advantages, but you'd need to be careful to make sure those who want can still mate with other elves. We wouldn't want the races to die out," Gilian said. "Do you think you can convince Regent Thillean and Prince Theon to go along?"
Lady Telawynn turned to Gilian. "I do. We will have to get creative and change some laws and customs. It's already fairly evident that Prince Theon prefers men, but our people will expect him to produce an elvish heir. I'm not quite sure they're ready for a dragon shifter to be in line for the throne."
"And there's the whole business of integrating Arnakkhor and the dark fae. I don't think they'll go for being ignored," River said.
"And they shouldn't. Yes, there is a lot of work to be done, and not everyone will be as open-minded." Lady Telawynn sipped her tea and looked as though she was deep in thought.
"We'll help in whatever way we can. I know Father and Pater want it to work," Skye said.
"They do," Garrett echoed. "Do we know if any of the other visions were radically different? We...um...heard of the one encouraging the elves to explore things with dragons."
"Wow, that was almost diplomatic, Garrett," Venci laughed.
"I try."
"Most of those I heard about were similar to my own, encouraging the person to support elves and dragons mating and becoming more involved in the outside world. And as you mention, the younger men all had more erotic messages of what their life could be like," Lady Telawynn explained.
Sounds like the 'try dragon dick, you'll like it' dream to me, Garrett sent to Skye.
Skye sighed, but Mistral had been thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, there was also too much consistency to deny where Underhill was pushing him.
"Will you let us know if you learn of any other visions or if there were different messages, Lady Telawynn?" Skye asked.
"Of course, Prince Skye. I haven't yet spoken to King Arnakkhor, so I don't know if the dark fae received visions as well."
"That's a scary thought," Nik said.
"Yeah, but there's not much we can do about it. Some of this might also make more sense if I share what happened yesterday when I disappeared. It's very much related to the visions..." Skye proceeded to recount what happened along with his doubts and the thoughts he'd had as he encountered the grandmother he thought dead. The group was silent as they listened, and Skye tried to pay attention to River's reaction. No one spoke for several minutes after he finished, and Skye ate, waiting for the questions to begin.
"That's nothing short of mind-boggling," Master Mage Quanta said.
"Does this kind of thing happen to you a lot? You seem awfully calm about it," Quanta's mate, Aksel asked.
Several of the wing broke out into laughter and even River smiled.
"Yeah, our life is one big fucked up circus." River gave Skye an inquiring look. "You think she's real?"
Skye thought about it again before answering. "Yeah, I do. I'm not even going to begin to guess about how and why. But everything I picked up on felt right. And yes, I checked."
River shook his head and stared at the table. "You think you could take me there? I don't remember much of Grandma B, but maybe it will come back to me."
"Of course. That was one of the first things she asked me to do, and I'd like to go back. Who knows, she may have more to tell us," Skye responded.
"Did you want to ask Quanta what he needed?" Garrett prompted.
"Quanta, Mica said earlier that you needed to speak with me. Is it something we can do here, or do you need privacy?" Skye looked toward the door when he saw his wing look that way with big grins and smiles. Corbin walked in and ignored the others as he prepared a plate.
Quanta chuckled and then turned back to Skye. "This is fine. It actually relates to most of those here. I want to begin working with your dragons on their magic after breakfast. Lady Telawynn helped me find a place that's a safe distance from the main hold but also well shielded."
"You'd think Underhill was trying to help you," River muttered.
"Possibly. I want you and Nik to be first. Mattekin and the others have all agreed to help, so we'll be able to work with several dragons at one time."
"Great." River sounded anything but excited.
"Who else do you want for the first round?" Skye asked.
"I was thinking Chaz and Garrett."
"Wait, I'm not a dragon," Chaz objected.
"Please. That's semantics. To my sight, you're holding just as much magic as the others. You think your eyes glowing was the only sign? No, my friend, it may be easier to detect here in Underhill, but I have no doubts you have spell potential." Quanta turned his gaze back on Garrett. "And as Skye's mate, you need to be as prepared as you can be. That includes knowing both some defensive as well as offensive spells."
Garrett opened his mouth to speak and then snapped it shut without saying a word. The others might not know, but Skye had clearly heard Rett give his mate a warning that they "would" do this.
"I'll put together a schedule of which mages will be training whom and when. Is there someone on your team I can coordinate with?" Quanta asked.
"Work with Mica. He'll make sure we're where we need to be." Skye noticed his surfer-dude's dramatically raised eyebrow but chose to ignore it.
"Bryan, you and Kuai are set to relieve Gilian and Jayce after breakfast. Corbin and I can give you breaks until the next shift," Mica said.
"Lady Telawynn, do you think there's any point in looking for the gate back to Draga?" Skye asked.
"Probably not. Everyone is keeping their eyes open, and typically, there is a surge of magic that we feel when it reappears. I was assuming we just missed it, but perhaps it hasn't happened yet."
Skye thought of his grandmother's words and wondered if he had to complete his tasks first.
"Quanta, you said Mattekin would be helping with the training. Has he happened to mention anything about the bonding?" Skye asked.
"He's asked a few questions, but for the most part, he seems to be battling it out in his head. I'm sorry I don't have more. Personally, I think he'll come around, but it might take him some time."
"It would pull him into a very different lifestyle than what he's used to," Garrett said.
"You make it sound like that's a bad thing!" Venci gasped.
Garrett's rolled his eyes.
"Is there anything we have to do for the dark fae?" Skye asked.
"I entered Revali's name in the ledger and sort of expected the book to vanish now that everyone is settled, but nothing happened," Venci said.
"I'm not aware of anything at this time, Prince Skye. The healers are still treating a few, but there are no more serious injuries or illnesses. The biggest challenge for them has been adjusting to the magic. Eventually, they'll need to find homes outside of Underhill, but there's nothing we can do about that for now," Lady Telawynn explained.
"I could begin a report for his Majesty, documenting the various races and what they'll need. Do you think King Arnakkhor might be willing to advise me?" Venci asked.
"Venci, you remember that your bio-comm doesn't work, so you can't dictate or key in your report?" Garrett pointed out.
"Yes, but I am very adept with a quill and parchment. I assure you it will look like a work of art when it is finished." Venci crossed his arms and glared at Garrett as if daring him to disagree.
"Yes, I think that is an excellent idea, Venci. I may even ask our scholars if they have histories of the races that might help," Lady Telawynn said.
"Gentlemen, if you're ready, we can do Chaz's evaluation and start lessons for the rest of you. The other mages are likely already there." Quanta pushed back from the table and gave a quick kiss to his mate.
Garrett groaned.
"Good luck, love. I'm sure you'll be amazing," Skye teased.
"You don't think Underhill will be vengeful or something if I say... accidentally like blow something up?" River asked.
"River, we are smart enough to learn from our mistakes. I'm sure you'll have much better control this time," Quanta said.
Skye could feel the skepticism and doubts from his brother even if he didn't mind-speak him. He knew him well enough that it was written all over his face.
You'll be fine, River. I have faith in you. Trust Quanta, he'll take care of you, Skye sent along with a mental hug.
Thanks, River responded as he took Nik's hand and followed Master Mage Quanta and the others out of the room.
Chaz gave Revali's shoulder a squeeze along with a smile of encouragement before he left. Skye found it interesting how attached Revali had become to Chaz. He was the wing-mate Revali seemed to cling to whenever they were together.
"What did I miss?" Corbin asked as he ate.
"Just Skye's recount of what happened when he disappeared. I can fill you in later," Mica offered.
"That's okay, Skye gave me the high points last night."
"What, you actually had time to talk? I would have expected your mouth to be full," Venci said.
"You know, Venci, there's something to be said for pillow talk and cuddling. You don't have to fuck non-stop," Corbin said between bites.
"Says you! How could you waste precious minutes with those two?" Venci sounded aghast.
Skye smiled but refrained from outright laughter as he winked at Corbin across the table. I thought it was pretty magical and wouldn't have changed a thing. He glanced at Revali and was comforted that the siren seemed to be taking it all in stride. He was also impressed at how Lady Telawynn let the conversation flow by her without reacting.
Me too, Corbin responded.
"Do you have plans for the day, Prince Skye?" Lady Telawynn asked.
"Not since we aren't looking for the gate. I'm not sure what to do. We've spent so much time dealing with one emergency after the other..."
"May I suggest exploring the Hold and perhaps enjoying the beauty of Underhill without an impending threat?"
"Lady Telawynn, please. There's always an impending threat. Underhill isn't done with us and obviously doesn't want us to leave."
"Skye, I've lived a long time, and you're right, there will always be something, but life is what happens in between. Enjoy the momentary peace and explore." Lady Telawynn stood and came over to stand behind Skye, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Have some fun."
"Thank you, Lady Telawynn."
"Of course." She strode from the room with a grace and confidence that Skye hoped he'd have someday.
- Scene 3 *
Skye finished washing his hands and adjusted the leather vest. He liked the feel of the leather, but he thought it made him look a little too much like one of those guys on the cover of a romance book. Not that he wasn't pleased with how his body had developed, he was; it was just hard to overcome years of being self-conscious.
He wondered if the others had come up with a plan of where they wanted to explore and who all would be joining him. Jayce and Gilian had retired to their rooms to get some sleep after being up most of the night.
"I must say, you pull off the savage look very well. Don't you agree, Mica," Venci teased as Skye stepped out of the bath. Mica nodded with a grin.
"Thanks. I think..." Skye realized that Venci probably picked up on his apprehension, something his wing-mates seemed to be getting better at. Even shielding, it was hard to hide anything from them.
"No, seriously. The ready to fuck vibe looks good on you." Venci smiled and pivoted in a fluid, boneless motion as he headed toward the door.
"He's not wrong," Mica said in a low voice.
"Hey, you're supposed to help me!"
"Out of your leathers? Sure, just say the word." Mica laughed as he held the door for Skye.
Skye sighed and walked through into the sitting room and immediately noticed they had a guest.
"King Arnakkhor," Skye greeted.
"Please, it's Arnak. Could we speak for a moment?"
Skye glanced around at how many people were in the room, and it made no sense to ask them to leave. "You mind talking in my room?"
"Hm... I don't know, do you think my virtue is safe?" Arnakkhor said in such a way as to give no clue if he was joking.
"You could hope not, but this is Skye. Sadly, you are completely safe," Venci muttered.
"Venci!" Skye scowled at his assistant.
"Wait, are you implying that he's not safe?" Venci asked in mock horror.
"You're not helping," Skye retorted, and by this time, Arnakkhor was clutching his gut laughing.
Skye stepped back into his and Garrett's room, assuming that Arnakkhor would follow.
"I admire the relationship you have with your team. While you treat each other like family, I've seen their loyalty and dedication under fire. It makes for an impressive combination." Arnakkhor joined Skye and closed the door behind him.
"You were teasing, right?" Skye wanted to kick himself for asking, but he had to know.
"About my virtue? Yes." Arnakkhor paused. "Thank you for everything. It's still hard to believe we're back in Underhill."
"I hope everyone is adjusting well." Skye felt awkward standing, so sat on the edge of the bed.
"I'm not going to say there haven't been challenges, but we're coping. Adjusting to there being magic again is probably the biggest. But I needed to talk to you about something else; Allanna had a vision."
"You got them too?" Skye slumped, worrying about exactly who of the Dark Fae were on Underhill's invite. Arnakkhor was very handsome, but some of the other dark fae, not so much.
"Well, yes, but that's not what I was referring to. Your men mentioned they also received sendings. I'm referring to Allanna's gift of foresight-though she might argue with me over it being a gift." Arnakkhor sat on the edge of the bed next to Skye. "And while there is a connection, I take Allanna's visions more seriously."
"Okay." Skye wondered and couldn't help but ask. "Is the magic making her gift more powerful?"
"Not that she's mentioned. I have to assume her gift is not magic in the same sense as she never lost her ability in exile and didn't suffer like the mages. Often she gets them when there is action that is needed or a decision to be made. This one regarded our son, Jhaeros."
Here it comes, Mistral. Not sure I'm ready...
'We already suspect he's to be a wing-mate, what else could it be?' Mistral asked.
"Hopefully it wasn't a bad vision," Skye said, resisting the urge to hold his breath.
Arnakkhor shrugged. "Unexpected, but not bad. Allanna insisted that I ask if you'd be willing to take Jhaeros on as part of your team."
Skye sat silent for a moment, thinking about the odd wording. "What did she see?"
Arnakkhor sighed. "Allanna is careful to never share much about her visions. She says it could have consequences, pushing others into decisions or actions they wouldn't otherwise take, creating a ripple effect on the future. So I don't know what she saw in his future, only that she is adamant that he must be with you and your wing-mates. To be blunt, she said if I loved him and wanted him to have a future, I would do as she asked."
"Wow, that's a bit heavy."
"Yeah, but I've learned to listen. There were two times I chose to ignore her, and it didn't go well. Not that I won't miss him." Arnakkhor glanced away with an odd expression. "And I can tell you there are several men who will be very disappointed to see him go."
From what he was picking up from Arnakkhor, Skye knew not to ask but did wonder about his statement. His thoughts weren't really providing any clues other than love and protectiveness of his son. "Did she say anything else?"
Arnakkhor looked into Skye's eyes with a pleading look. "She said that you'd know what to do as soon as you read him. I guess she meant something related to your telepathy?"
Skye's shoulders slumped, and he took a deep breath. Jump in here anytime, Mistral.
"Probably." Skye tried to figure out how to say he didn't just pull people's thoughts without their permission, but that wasn't completely true, and as he worked through all the other reassurances, it was painfully clear that he could give none.
"There's something else you should know... he's struggling. He seems to be very sensitive to the presence of magic, and it is taking a toll. He's having trouble sleeping, and he acts as though he's constantly under threat."
"Lady Telawynn said that some of the dark fae were having that reaction. I assume there are more beyond Jhaeros?"
Arnakkhor nodded.
"I'll be glad to talk to Jhaeros whenever you think he's ready, Arnak." Crap, should I tell Arnak about the bonding and mating thing too, Mistral?
'Not yet. Though I expect his mother already knows. Arnak's been with us enough that he likely suspects. Wait until we are sure.'
I thought you were sure, Skye thought.
'I am, but it will make you feel better,' Mistral teased.
Arnakkhor's voice pulled Skye out of his conversation with Mistral.
"I will bring him to you later this morning. I hate seeing him like this, and if it will help, I don't want to waste any time."
"I understand. You somewhat implied that some of you also experienced a sending?
Arnakkhor stood and paced in front of the bed. "Not everyone. To my knowledge, only Night Elves, and of those, only the youngest who don't have partners. I also had a sending." Arnakkhor gave a nervous laugh. "It pretty much told me to listen to my wife and not to interfere with the elves who chose to come to you."
"Uh...come to me?"
Arnakkhor rolled his eyes and gave Skye the look. "You know what I'm talking about. Your men told me many of the light elves received similar visions. Is it true? Can you change them so they are able to be mates for dragons?"
"Yeah, it's true. Underhill has been quite forward in prodding me to do so. I wish I had the knowledge or wisdom to explain. I only found out recently that I can do it with just a touch of my magic." Skye thought back to his grandmother's revelation from the night before.
The look Arnakkhor gave him made him squirm a little on the bed. It was filled with heat and hunger that he didn't expect to see on the Night Elf. "And if they prefer to lie with you and get the full treatment?"
"What?" Skye felt the heat rush to his face.
Mistral laughed in the back of his head. 'Someone has been talking to our wing-mates.'
Obviously. "I'd um...rather not, and I certainly can't...you know..., with ALL of them." He barely got the words out through his embarrassment.
"They said you were a bit prudish and reticent. If it helps, I can assure you that Night Elves share dragons' view on sex."
"Great," Skye muttered.
"It is your choice, but I thought you should know some are already looking forward to it, the intimate parts, I mean. Think about it; I'm going back to get Jhaeros. I expect I'll find him ready and waiting. His mother was going to speak to him while I came to see you."
Skye ignored Mistral's snickers. "Sure. Before you go, I had one quick question for you. Venci is going to write up a recommendation for the Emperor on helping find more permanent homes for the dark fae. Would you be willing to talk to him and give him insights on what the various races would need?"
"It would be my pleasure. Hmm...I wonder if I can make him blush. He is one of the more colorful on your team. I also think of few of my men are hoping he'll be included if the vision plays out. He was a good choice to welcome people to Underhill."
"He was. For all his flash, he can be the consummate professional."
"Doesn't hurt that he's pretty. I'll return shortly." Arnakkhor nodded at Skye before heading out the door.
Skye barely had time to stand before Mica came through the door to the bath, and Bryan stepped through the other as Arnakkhor exited.
"Everything good?" Mica asked.
"Yeah, fine. Why?"
"I'd rather you not be alone. I know you wanted to speak privately, but it would be better if at least a couple of us were with you at all times," Mica explained.
"Especially after the disappearing act yesterday," Bryan added.
"I'll try to remember," Skye promised. "Guess you two were waiting on the other side of the doors? Listening in?"
"Of course," Mica responded without even a hint of a smile or embarrassment.
"Thoughts?" Skye asked.
"We already suspected that Jhaeros might be one of us, but Underhill's meddling is making me a little nervous."
"At least there were no Hell Hounds involved," Bryan said.
"Yet, you mean. I get the sense that if I don't move fast enough, the 'hints' will get bolder."
"Looks like we won't be exploring for a while. I may send a few of the guys to find a place they can get a workout or maybe practice their hand to hand. I'd also like to start Revali on some basic self-defense skills," Mica said.
"Might end up practicing their dick to mouth skills. I'm not sure we've all recovered from the extended period of abstinence," Bryan said.
"Oh, like you abstained! And just how many times did you have Raph bent over?" Mica crossed his arms and glared.
"Well, not as often as I would have if we hadn't been on hell world."
"I think everyone is still recovering." Skye interrupted, hoping to avert any harsh words but pleased that his wing-mates no longer censored themselves around him. "I'm not against them helping each other out."
Skye felt something through his bond and did a quick check on Garrett and the others. He felt relieved when he found them all in good spirits, somewhat apprehensive and uncertain as they worked with the mages, but nothing concerning. It took a moment longer to filter out what had triggered him. It was Garrett's surprise at seeing flames shooting from his fingertips.
"Everything okay?" Mica asked.
"Yeah, I felt something from Garrett and wanted to check in on the others. They're doing fine, and River hasn't blown anything up."
- Scene 4 *
Skye moaned as Venci's fingers worked the knots out of his neck and shoulders.
Damn, Mistral, his hands are magic.
'I'd be okay taking him to our bed and letting him do the rest of us..."
"Mmm." That would feel nice, but Arnak's likely to return any moment.
"You should have told me how tense you were," Venci said.
"Mm-hm." Skye leaned into the warmth of Venci's touch as his mind filled with memories of the last time Venci gave him a full massage. He thought he was about to drift off when he felt others approaching. "I think Arnak has returned."
Seconds later, Kuai poked his head in. "Skye, Arnakkhor and Jhaeros are here to see you."
"Send them in, Kuai. Thank you."
"We're not leaving," Mica announced from where he was sitting, giving a meaningful glance to Bryan.
"I can go to my room if you prefer," Venci offered. The rest of the wing had gone off to practice and get a workout.
"No, Venci, you can stay." Skye watched as the Night Elf and his son entered their sitting room. It struck him again how handsome they were and how much they reminded him of Taleel. Jhaeros had a slighter build and edged more toward pretty than his father. He had striking gray eyes set off by long, dark lashes and thick brows. Both men were still too skinny for their builds, but as he'd seen with Christos, that would come with regular meals and sleep.
Skye felt a chill as Venci removed his hands and stepped away.
"Jhaeros, you remember Skye. I'm going to give you some privacy. Remember what your mother told you and that we both love you. You know where to find me if you need anything." Arnakkhor pulled Jhaeros into a hug then kissed his forehead before turning and leaving.
It was surprising to Skye that the Night Elf didn't say anything more to him. He opened up his shields and mentally prepared himself for whatever he might pick up.
"I feel it..." Venci murmured from behind Skye.
"Yeah, not sure how we missed it before," Mica added.
"Feel what?" Jhaeros glanced around nervously, and all eyes turned to Skye.
"A pull from my magic. Like a magnet, it notices you and wants to draw you closer. Please, Jhaeros, sit down." Skye gestured to the couch across from him.
'Putting it off won't help anything. You need to touch him and see what our magic does,' Mistral said.
"Skye?" Mica prompted, and Skye felt the same question in Mica's mind as Mistral had just shared.
Skye stood and stepped up to Jhaeros before he'd moved to take a seat. "Jhaeros, would it be okay if I took your hand?"
Jhaeros looked at Skye skeptically. "Is that how you test me? Mother said you'd need to before you'd be able to tell me what was going on."
"It is. When our skin makes contact, you may feel a tingling sensation, or there might be nothing at all."
Skye stifled a response when he heard Venci chuckle. He glanced at Bryan, who had a hand over his mouth and was looking anywhere but at Skye.
Skye, that might be an understatement. Are you sure you shouldn't warn him? Mica said into Skye's mind.
No, Mica, Skye is being dramatic and wants the element of surprise, Venci added.
I'm staying out of it but will do my best to catch him, Bryan sent.
You are all so funny. Skye took a deep breath and reached out to take Jhaeros's slender hand. He felt the magic start to react as soon as he was within inches of the Night Elf. When they made contact, Skye gasped, and Jhaeros cried out as a powerful jolt went right to Skye's privates. He dropped to the floor when his legs gave out.
"Yeah, a light tingle," Bryan mumbled when he caught the stunned elf and lowered him onto the couch. "So gentle it knocked you both on your asses."
Skye thought he should come up with a retort, but his brain wasn't working well. Mica shook his head and smiled as he reached down, offering a hand to pull Skye off the floor and help him onto the other couch.
"Well, I guess that answers that question. I'll get you some water. I think you both need it." Venci almost pranced as he left the room, and Skye could feel both the amusement and the smug satisfaction from his wing-mate.
"You okay?" Bryan asked, putting a hand on Jhaeros's shoulder. The young man looked up, his eyes blown wide and somewhat glazed. "If you didn't already guess, that means Skye's magic noticed you, and you're supposed to be part of our wing. Not sure you know what that means, but when Skye recovers, he can answer your questions."
"I'm not a soldier. I may be okay with a knife and bow, but I'm not like you guys," Jhaeros said.
"You don't have to be," Mica interrupted. "There are more brothers and another sister in our wing who did not join us on this mission. Most of those you've met are soldiers because that's what Skye needed."
"Oh." Jhaeros went silent as he glanced at the others. The door opened, and Venci had returned with two ornate cups. He handed one to Jhaeros and the other to Skye.
"It's just water, I promise." Venci rolled his eyes when Skye hesitated.
"Sorry I didn't give you a better warning, Jhaeros. It's not always that strong." Skye sipped the water, starting to feel better.
"Is that bad?" Jhaeros asked, glancing between Mica and Skye.
"Not at all; it mostly means my magic wants me to claim you as a wing- mate sooner rather than later. You may feel drawn to me and even uncomfortable until it's completed."
"Is it like the dream?" Jhaeros asked.
Skye pondered a moment, wondering whether Jhaeros had a normal dream or one of Underhill's sendings. He couldn't tell from Jhaeros's thoughts. "I don't know. What happened in your dream?"
"Well, more of your guys were here. We were in this room, I think. You gave me a choice of sex or no sex. Obviously, I chose the sex option, and then you took me to your bed and fucked me like I never dreamed possible. When you were done, I was sort of out of it, but then the other guys took turns, and they said they were welcoming me to the wing. After that, you put me between you and your mate and fucked me again, and said that I could be mated to a dragon someday. That's when I woke up. It felt so real I'd cum on my bedclothes."
"Oh." Skye gulped and internally shushed Mistral as the dragon laughed.
'Definitely a sending and maybe an accurate one."
"Oh, honey. I gotta ask, did you think that was a 'good' dream or a bad dream?" Venci asked, sitting beside the elf and taking his hand.
"Fucking amazing. It doesn't work like that, does it?" Jhaeros looked heartbroken.
"Well..." Venci glanced at Skye, who seemed to still be arguing with his dragon. "It can if that's what you wanted. Not everyone likes that many partners, and not everyone is attracted to men. Have you ever, you know?" Venci waved his hand in the air as if he didn't want to say it out loud.
"Had sex with men? There weren't a lot of women with us, and please forgive me for sounding arrogant, but I was one of the better-looking elves and the youngest. I also like being fucked. I was...um...very popular with the guys."
"Oh love, you are definitely supposed to be one of us," Venci cooed, squeezing Jhaeros's hand with a smile that promised all sorts of things.
"Wait...does your father know?"
"Know what?" Jhaeros looked confused and glanced at the others. "That I was having sex?"
"Yeah. And that you liked men." Skye's words sounded a bit forced.
"Sure. Not like we could keep secrets. Besides, I had to get my appetite from somewhere. He may be mated to my mother, but he's still got needs."
"But I somehow got the impression he wasn't into men. Also are you even old enough..." Skye stopped as realized he wasn't even sure how to put that question into words.
Jhaeros laughed. "Is that a dragon thing? Night Elves are considered adults once they come into their seed. I've been having sex for..." Jhaeros closed his eyes for a moment. "At least ten years as we counted them on our world. And if Father said he wasn't into men, it was to avoid the embarrassment of having you or one of your men turn him down."
"Oh."
'Remember, Skye, elves don't show age or mature the same way as humans. They are a very long-lived race and show their age differently. Dillon is older than we are but looks younger. And we did sense lust from Arnakkhor when we first met, but he was badly wounded.'
True, Mistral. I keep forgetting. Still in shock that Jhaeros is so experienced. I don't know why I assumed they'd all be chaste and just waiting for... who knows what. I guess it makes sense that they'd take comfort where they could find it.
"So what happens now?" Jhaeros asked, pulling Skye out of his thoughts.
"Guys, feel free to add if I miss anything." Skye began explaining what Jhaeros could expect if they went through with the bonding process. Beginning with the sex or no sex option, the connection to Skye and the wing. Mica explained what it would feel like and the sensations he would get through the bond. Skye continued, making it clear the rest was speculation on Jhaeros's likely future, including education and training and a life among royals, and finally, the option to be bonded to a dragon.
When Skye finished, he sat silently waiting.
"What would happen to me when you and the others leave Draga?"
"First, you won't be the only wing-mate remaining. I expect that Christos and Rilien will need to stay and continue their education and training as well. Revali, the siren from hell world, will be in a similar situation. I'll likely ask Arcturus to remain and keep an eye on them. He's a bear shifter. Garrett and Nik's brother, Kleitos will also remain. There may be others who stay on Draga as well. We have a few months before we have to decide."
"But you said part of the bond was needing to stay together," Jhaeros said.
"Allow me," Venci interrupted. "It is, but if you have other wing- brothers with you, it's not nearly as bad. Not that you won't miss Skye, you still would, but it won't be as painful, and you can get through. Trust me, I've done it."
Skye wasn't going to mention that Venci's trial was not months on end, but it had been for Taleel and Jerrick, and they'd said the same thing- having each other kept them sane.
"Now you have some decisions to make. I'm not going to say you have a choice in bonding or not. From what we've experienced, it doesn't work that way. However, you can decide on how and if you want to eventually be able to be bonded to a dragon."
"And if I already know the answers?"
"I'd ask you to at least give yourself a few hours to think about it. If you're comfortable with doing so-maybe talk with your mother and father," Skye advised.
Jhaeros laughed. "I already know what they think. Mother said I must do everything in my power to convince you to bond me and do the thing where I can be compatible with a dragon. On the way here, father said I should take the sex option for bonding. He said he spoke to a few of your wing and had no doubts that it was the best way for me."
"Oh." Skye felt a little flummoxed but decided to hold his ground. "Still, I'd appreciate it if you gave it some thought. How about you give me an answer after dinner?"
"Would I return to the Night Elves afterward or stay here with you?" Jhaeros asked.
"It's your choice," Skye answered.
"Skye," Venci interrupted, turning to Jhaeros. "Honey, you'll want to stay with us after. It will help to have your wing brothers around you as you adjust. It's not bad, but it can be confusing and overwhelming, and we'd be here to help and answer questions."
"Venci has a good point." Skye realized maybe he was holding back a little too much.
"And if you like sex, I guarantee there's always at least one or more wing brothers who'll be glad to help you out any time, day or night," Venci confided as if it was a dark secret.
A huge smile lit Jhaeros's features. "That. Sounds. Perfect. And not just because all of you are like the best-looking men I've ever seen."
"You are so sweet!" Venci exclaimed, pulling Jhaeros into a hug.
"Thanks. I need to go back and gather the few things I have and talk to my parents, maybe say some goodbyes, so the others at least know why I'm not staying there anymore."
"You sound like the decision is already made," Mica said.
"Honestly, I decided before I ever got here. I've learned when Mother tells me that I need to do something, I do it."
- Scene 5 *
Even if it didn't count as exploring, Skye decided that he at least needed to get out of their rooms and walk. His wing-mates hadn't returned from their practice or magic lessons, so it was just the four others with him.
"This place confuses the hell out of me," Skye muttered as they walked through the courtyard that resembled an English garden.
"Oh yeah," Mica agreed, glancing around for any threats in the flowers.
'He is so dedicated,' Mistral whispered. 'And notice how good his ass looks in leather. I think we should reward him.'
Shh, Mistral, I can't think if you do that. I'm trying not to get lost.
'But I thought we didn't know where we were going. So I shouldn't mention that Bryan is practically bursting out?'
"There's a door." Kuai pointed.
"How can there be an outdoor garden when we are several levels underground? Everyone else remembers going down that big circular stair, right?" Skye was wondering if this was all an illusion.
"Yes, I remember," Venci said.
They all followed Kuai into what looked like a large hall worthy of the palace, and after Skye pointed them out, they descended yet more stairs.
"I think we just have to accept that Underhill doesn't have to follow the rules," Mica said, moving up in front with Kuai.
"You'd think physics and the laws of reality would be universal," Skye grumbled, but he knew they were getting closer. He could feel it in his bond to his mate and the others.
Skye directed them to a door off a landing on the stairs and into a section that appeared more dungeon-like than what they'd been through so far. He let out a sigh of relief when the torches revealed familiar faces.
"Came to check on us?" Chaz called as he and Nik walked down the hallway toward them.
"Maybe. How'd it go? I'm assuming Garrett and River are still going at it," Skye said.
"I guess. We weren't together. Their training rooms were farther down this hall." Chaz looked at Nik.
"Yeah, River says they're almost done."
"I don't want to disturb Garrett's concentration. Did the rooms look like this?" Skye gestured to the rough stone corridor around them.
"Yes, pretty much. The room was huge and looked like it been there for centuries. Fortunately, no manacles or torture devices were present- though I wouldn't have been surprised. The place does have that vibe," Nik said.
"Same. Hanan, the mage training me, said the stone could absorb the strongest of spells," Chaz added.
"So how'd it go?"
"I have magic! I mean, I can't do much yet. Quanta tested me, and then we worked on hand fire the whole time. Look!" Chaz held out his hand, and a ball of light formed.
"Congrats!" Skye praised. "Did he give you an idea of how strong your magic is?"
"You won't believe this. He said I'm as strong as any gold he's tested. Unbelievable, right?"
"I have no idea what it means, but I guess it's good," Skye said weakly.
Venci cleared his throat. "Of the dragons, golds are known to have more magic abilities than most of the others. You occasionally get an anomaly, but that's the general rule. And before you ask, platinums don't count. They're off the magical charts."
"Wow," Nik said. "I didn't know that."
"What were they teaching you, Nik?" Skye asked, knowing that he'd already had a few lessons and had already mastered hand fire and traditional fire.
"Nothing very showy. You know how you can see and feel magic? There's a spell that lets me detect magic like that."
"I've been with Quanta when he's used that," Skye said.
"Hanan said we were taking a break to get lunch and recharge before we start up again," Chaz said.
Hey, babe. I can feel that you're close. We're taking a break for lunch. Where are you? Garrett sent.
In the hallway outside the training rooms. Nik and Chaz are already done as well. I haven't heard from River.
Hang on...there's a frantic mage waving his arms and whispering to Quanta. He just came in. Oh shit, stay where you are!
"Okay, that was weird. Something's going down guys. Garrett's on his way," Skye said since his wing-mates hadn't been privy to his mind- speaking with Garrett.
In the distance, Skye heard a door and then the sound of approaching footsteps. Master Mage Quanta and Garrett, along with one of Quanta's mages came into view.
"We need to get the heart stone right away!" Quanta called.
"Nik..." Skye started to say.
"Already on it. I told River something was up and let him know where we were going. He said he'll meet us there."
Skye and the others fell in behind as Quanta rushed past them, following his assistant. He was impressed that the mage was so confident in his path. Skye found the maze of Underhill confusing and most often relied on the others to lead.
They were setting a brisk pace, and Skye wondered what had set off the master mage.
'We could read him,' Mistral suggested.
Remember, we're trying "not" to go mucking around in other people's heads unless there is a really good reason. I don't think curiosity counts.
'Well, if we dropped our shields a little, we might overhear...'
Skye ignored his dragon and kept pace. He began to recognize where they were, and soon they were crossing through the grand hall. They reached the antechamber, and Skye saw another of the mages wringing his hands and pacing nervously.
Quanta didn't even slow down, passing the other mage without a word and entering the room of doors.
"No!" Quanta shouted.
Skye was forced to wait until Bryan and Mica checked the room. When they allowed him entry, his heart dropped. The heart stone was gone.
"How?" Skye whispered. At Mistral's prompting, Skye closed his eyes and reached out with his magic, looking for his connection to the stone. He was surprised that it was there and as strong as ever. He could feel the coursing magic and the warmth that filled him as he acknowledged it's almost sentient presence.
Feeling a little calmer, Skye began seriously examining the room. Not only was the pillar with the stone gone, but the mosaic on the floor had changed. It was now an ornate star pattern and in its center...a clear glowing gem?
Skye knelt and put his hand to the clear pulsing crystal. "Not the heart stone, but...it brightens in time with the pulse of magic." Skye kept his hand on the smooth stone and closed his eyes again.
"What do you see, Skye? Do you know where the heart stone has gone?"
"What happened?" Mattekin called out as he ran into the room, out of breath.
"The heart stone is gone," Quanta replied without taking his eyes off of Skye.
"It is, and it isn't. I can still feel the heart stone. I think it might be below us," Skye said hesitantly, as he tried to get a better sense.
"Is that the tip of it?" Mattekin asked, pointing.
"No-" Skye began, then got a dizzy sensation as if he was falling.
"Skye! What the fuck!" Garrett's voice rang in his mind, but to his ears, it was muffled and far away.
Skye gripped the floor and hoped his head would stop spinning. The first thing he noticed was that light was pulsing-even through his closed eyelids. Then, since he was still open to searching for the heart stone, he felt throbbing magic-much closer now. He took a deep breath and sat back, opening his eyes.
"Shit." Well, Mistral, looks like we found the heart stone. I'm okay, Garrett. I um...found the heart stone. Or maybe more accurately, it found me.
Do you know where you are? Garrett asked.
Skye looked around. The room was very similar to the room of doors, but here there were no doors, just insets. The walls were of the same stone, and even the floor had a similar mosaic. He looked up and felt relieved for a few seconds until it struck him that there were "no" doors and no apparent way out. The ceiling's mosaic matched the floor in the other room. Directly over the heart stone was a faceted prism set into the ceiling. On this side, it extended into the room, capturing the light.
Skye, where the fuck are you? River's mind-voice was loud enough it echoed in his head.
I think I'm below the room of doors, and it's not my fault! I did not do this. But, River, I don't see a way out.
I'm getting you a damned leash. Something elvish that can't be broken. I swear you're trying to kill me. We'll figure it out. Are you okay?
Yeah, I was just touching the crystal in the floor and searching for the heart stone, and boom, I ended up here, Skye explained.
Doesn't look strange, and it feels-
Skye felt the burst of magic and bit his tongue to keep from laughing when River appeared on the floor beside him, still with his hand out. "Nice of you to join me, bro."
"Shit," River moaned, shaking his head. He sat back and scowled at the heart stone.
Skye! River just disappeared, Garrett sent.
He's here with me now, Skye replied, turning to look at this brother. "I was about to ask Underhill what was going on." Skye stood and approached the column in the center of the room. It was similar to how it had been in the room of doors but now there was open space between the top of the heart stone and the prism.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Skye put his hands against the stone and felt the hum of power. Even more than before, he was aware of the magic reaching out and wrapping around him. Underhill, why did you bring us here? And more importantly, how do we get back? Skye thought.
A tingle worked up his arms. 'You were looking for the heart stone so it brought you here. Only a select few are permitted in this place. I heard the others say it was not safe for the stone to stay in the room of doors, so I moved it. To get back to the room, just picture it and ask the stone to take you there,' a familiar deep voice echoed in Skye's mind
Thank you. Since you're speaking to me, can I ask what you want of me?
'I've already told you. Claim the elf and the shifter, then give your gift to the fae I send to you. Once you've done that, we will discuss how we can work together.'
The voice went silent, and Skye could swear he felt the presence withdraw.
"Well?" River asked.
"We're supposed to touch the heart stone, picture the room of doors and ask to go there," Skye explained. He took River's hand and put it on the stone. Then pressed both of his palms against the smooth stone.
Please take me back to the room of doors, he said in his mind as he pictured the chamber. He felt the magic fill him and got a woozy disoriented feeling.
"Thank the Father Dragon!" Garrett yelled before pulling Skye into a bone-crushing hug.
"Breathe, need to breathe," Skye squeaked before Garrett loosened his grip.
"Don't you fucking do that again!"
"Like I had a choice," Skye retorted.
"What happened?" Mattekin asked.
"Did you find the heart stone?" Quanta added.
"Oh, yeah. We found it alright. It's right below us. In a sealed room with no doors," River said, letting Nik wrap himself around him.
"River's right. The only way to get to it now is if the stone or I guess Underhill wants you there. Underhill said it heard us speaking of how this was not a safe place since anyone could get to it," Skye explained.
"While I'm disappointed we can't examine it further, that's probably for the best. Does the crystal in the floor connect to the heart stone?" Quanta asked.
"No. So there's no way to touch the heart stone from here. It appears that is just a reflecting prism," Skye pointed to the glowing gem in the floor.
Master Mage Quanta let out an audible sigh. "This is a relief, though I'm not sure how I feel about you and River being pulled into the other room. Do you know why that happened?"
"The voice said it was because we were here and looking for the stone. Since we're 'approved' to be there, the magic pulled us through. The voice didn't say who could, just that it was a limited number."
"Hm. That makes sense. It might even be triggered by intent. Or rather, that's how I'd set it up."
"Is everyone else not a little disturbed at how Underhill just grabs Skye and transports him around? And now River?" Garrett complained.
"It's better than the Hell Hounds," Nik said.
"Skye, may I ask, does the magic feel any different?" Quanta asked.
"No, not at all. The only thing I noticed is that when I reached out to it, the magic seemed to react to me more quickly, and it felt like it was sentient. I know that's probably not the right word, but it responded to me as if it knew me."
"Same for me. I felt it reach out to me as soon as I was there," River added.
Skye noticed Mattekin staying far back and not engaging, but more importantly, he seemed to be doing his best not to be seen looking at Skye. Yet, whenever Skye wasn't looking, he could feel the heat of the druid's gaze on him.
'It isn't all that surprising, the magic already noticed him, and everything seems to be magnified in Underhill. Maybe if we were a little more obvious in our affection to our wing-mates, it would push him over the edge?' Mistral suggested.
Obvious how? Skye had learned to be skeptical of any innocent-sounding suggestions that Mistral made because he'd learned they were often anything but.
He means showing affection and flirting with the other guys, and if you're out of practice, you can warm up on me, Garrett interjected.
Do you hear all my internal conversations? Skye asked, turning to look at his mate.
I'll never tell.
Skye could feel his mate's amusement, but worse was the laughter from his dragon. Of course that just made him wonder if Mistral could influence what his bond-mate heard and what he didn't.
'But we should never have secrets from our mate, right?' Mistral asked in a way too sweet mental voice.
"Now that the crisis is over. Maybe we should eat lunch. I want to get back to training as soon as we can. Mica, I've decided who I'd like to work with tomorrow as well. I thought it would be good to alternate, so people have time to practice or rest in between."
"Certainly, Master Mage," Mica answered.
- Scene 6 *
"Was it really that bad?" Skye asked as he dropped onto the couch by Garrett.
"No, but it took a lot more out of me than I expected. Parts of it were kind of cool," Garrett admitted. "Shooting darts of fire - cool, boiling a cup of tea, not so much."
"I was told it helps you build control," Skye explained.
"I'm still in shock that I can do magic at all," Chaz said.
"I think it's amazing," Revali said as he snuggled between Chaz and Teak on the other couch.
"Did any of you work with Mattekin today? I was curious how he was doing," Skye asked.
Garrett laughed. "He worked with me a little, but I might have posed and flexed a little too much for him. He's human enough I know I got to him, but he got flustered enough that he decided to work with River in the afternoon."
Skye turned to River with a raised eyebrow.
"What? I focused on not burning anything down. He did ask a few questions. Mostly about what life was like outside and did I think he'd have to go with us when we left Draga."
"What did you tell him?" Gilian asked.
"That he probably didn't since he wasn't being trained as part of the crew and that there would be other wing-mates remaining. I told him that not everyone was military or a guard. I guess that satisfied him because he didn't ask more about that. He also asked if the pull would go away after bonding, and I said he'd have to ask one of you since I was your brother, and it worked differently for me."
"That's fair," Garrett agreed.
"I encourage everyone to be honest if he asks you a question. Except you, Venci. Don't scare him."
"Me? Why would you say that?"
Revali laughed and then covered his mouth.
"Uh-oh, even the new guy has figured you out, Venci," Chaz teased, rubbing Revali's shoulders.
"Hm, I don't know, but from what I heard earlier, I'm a little worried that Jhaeros might give Venci some competition," Mica said.
"Yeah, I picked up on that. Speaking of, he should be here soon. Who's on duty tonight? I've lost track," Skye asked.
"Me and Corbin," Mica said.
"Can I stay with you tonight, Chaz?" Revali asked.
"If you don't mind sharing me with Venci."
Revali looked over at the copper and grinned. "I think it's more like you both sharing me."
"Our little siren is growing up, dear," Garrett said.
"Anything we need to do special while Jhaeros is here?" Gilian asked.
"Support him like you would any new wing-mate. And...um...he did express interest in possibly getting to know a few of his brothers more personally as part of his bonding."
Venci let out a hoot of laughter. "While I am pleased you are improving your diplomatic speaking, let's put it out there." Venci stood and raised his hands. "Hear ye, hear ye, our soon-to-be wing-brother would appreciate that any who are interested give him a good fuck when Skye and Garrett are done with him."
"Venci!" Skye called out.
"Whoa, I like the sound of that," Bryan walked into the room wearing only a towel and his wet skin glistening. Kuai was right behind him, but the other dragon had pulled on a pair of tights - though the swollen lips and smile detracted from thinking of him as innocent.
"But that's what he said. And when you're done with him..." Venci turned back to the group. "Carry him back to Skye's bed and leave him there. So he can get another round or two in by morning."
"Bryan shouldn't you put some clothes on? There's a lady present." Skye felt the heat burning in his face and really wanted to object to Venci's words, but he was right. That was what Jhaeros said he wanted. Skye studiously avoided looking at Bryan's bulging muscles.
"Please, if you're worried about me, I've seen it all." Gilian waved her hand as if it didn't impress her in the least. Except, that Skye knew from her thoughts, she was very distracted indeed.
'We should respect Jhaeros's unspoken request. We'll just have to suffer through...bear the burden...carry the load...take one for the team,' Mistral delivered with dramatic flair.
Garrett burst out laughing as he picked up on Mistral's comments, and that's when the door opened, and Arnakkhor ushered Jhaeros into their suite.
"Arnak, good to see you again. We weren't expecting you."
"Change in plans. I had to escape. My men wouldn't stop peppering me with questions about you and your wing-mates. While some of them worked with you, the rest wanted details. The sendings have them all stirred up, and then when they announced the celebration, it just got crazy."
"Celebration?" Venci asked before Skye could.
"Didn't you hear? The elf council has declared there will be a feast and music to welcome the Night Elves back into the fold. It's to be in two days," Arnakkhor explained.
"Oh, God," Skye moaned. "Where is this to be held?" Please, please tell me it's in the hold or the grand hall-
"Outside in the forest. There is a clearing that is perfect for it, and I understand they've already begun preparations." Arnakkhor looked at him curiously, as if trying to figure out why Skye seemed upset. Then his eyes landed on Bryan, and his thoughts took an unexpected turn.
'Wow, that's a lot to process,' Mistral observed as they picked up on Arnakkhor's lust and the thoughts he was having about Skye's wing-mate.
"Jhaeros, please. You can come sit with me; there's room," Venci said, scooting over in the large chair. Even across the room, Skye heard Venci's whisper when Jhaeros was practically in the copper's lap. "Please tell me you decided to join us."
Jhaeros blushed and nodded.
Skye was struggling with which thought or action to process first. There was no way not to take news of the celebration as an omen or portent of the sending. Even if it didn't start in the delea grove, his memory told him it was pretty damned close. Then there was Arnakkhor and his obvious lust and need for some time with Skye's wing-mates.
Don't fight it, babe, let me handle this part. Garrett sent. "Hey, Bryan and Kuai, why don't you take Arnakkhor aside and explain to him what it will be like for Jhaeros to be a wing-mate. I'm sure he's worried about his son's future. You two can handle that, right?"
Bryan looked a little confused, but Skye saw Kuai pick up on the implied suggestion right away.
Bryan, you and Kuai need to give Arnakkhor the same welcome we gave to Raphael, but since you've reconciled, do it together. Use your senses, Bryan, he's already burning for you.
Skye was surprised he had to remind his wing-mate, but then again, elves were a lot harder to read than humans or shifters. He watched in mild amusement at the grin that stretched across Arnakkhor's face as Kuai took the Night Elf's hand and led him back down the hallway to their shared room.
"How about that..." Gilian murmured.
"I told you I got it from him," Jhaeros laughed, obviously picking up on the direction the conversation was likely to go between his father and the dragons. "It's good. He needs it after all the stress and dealing with keeping everyone calm while they adjust. Mama has also been edgier than usual."
"Probably worrying about you," Mica said.
"More likely, Father. She seemed to be pretty happy with whatever she saw for me."
"Well, goodnight all, I'm on duty again at daybreak." Gilian stood and walked toward the door.
"You know you're welcome to stay here. Underhill added more rooms," Skye said.
"Thanks, but there's a nice warm body waiting for me back in the hold." Gilian smirked but said nothing else as she left.
"Hmm." Venci stared after her. "Why do I doubt that?" His hands were getting more and more 'intimate' with Jhaeros, who didn't seem to mind in the least.
"Because you're a smart man," Skye said. "Yes, there is a female friend waiting, but it's not your kind of friendship. Pretty sure all they'll be sharing is warmth." Skye was again struck by the need to help Gilian better fit with the wing.
Now, let's take care of Jhaeros before Venci has the boy creaming in his britches, Garrett said, pulling Skye to his feet.
- Scene 7 *
Skye would be the first to admit that he was nervous.
Garrett wrapped his arms around Skye from behind and kissed along his neck. Hey...what's wrong? Jhaeros clearly wants this, and if I can feel the pull, I'm sure you can.
Jhaeros stripped off his clothes and stood by the bed, oblivious to Skye's internal struggles. "We gonna do this?"
"We are." Garrett began unlacing Skye's vest and then his pants.
"Are you sure that you're okay with this, Jhaeros? You don't have to have sex to complete the bond." Skye thought again how striking he was; something about the light silver-gray eyes with the darker ring surrounded by dark lashes and how they contrasted with his dark skin held Skye's attention.
Jhaeros snorted. "You don't get it, do you? I'd have gladly had sex with you, even without the possibility of bonding. You don't have to be careful or gentle or take it slow. This-" He waved his hand to indicate the bed and room, "is way nicer than what I'm used to. And to be honest, you and your men are so much more attractive than Father's guards who've been fucking me."
"Well, thanks for that, but I'm not really the down and dirty type," Skye said.
"You don't have to be. I'm just saying you can stop worrying. I want this. None of the guys have been willing to touch me since we got here. I'm overdue. Um... do you have lube."
"Don't worry, we've got you covered. And I bet it'll be better than what you're used to," Garrett said.
Jhaeros grinned. "That won't take much."
Garrett's fingers dug into Skye's muscles, relieving the tension. Hey, it's okay, you've got this. You've got your shields down, right? Can't you and Mistral tell he's being honest?
Yeah. I don't know what's wrong with me. He's beautiful, and I can already tell he'll be a great fit with the wing, just like Revali has been. Skye liked it when Garrett undressed him and now he stood before their new potential wing-mate, totally exposed.
"Wow." Jhaeros didn't hide the searching look he gave Skye as he looked at him top to bottom before returning to stare at Skye's crotch. "You're big..."
"I would have said average, but thank you." Just wait 'til you see my mate, Skye thought as he moved. Garrett hung back and hadn't bothered undressing yet.
Let's not scare him. Once you've got him worked up, he'll react better, Garrett mind-spoke. Are you shielding out the other wing- mates, or are you going to let them feel it?
Given what Jhaeros wants, I thought I'd share. That way, they'll be more than ready.
Skye gently ran his fingers along Jhaeros's jaw then across his bottom lip. "You are very handsome, Jhaeros."
"Ah...you want me to bend over here..."
Skye slid his hand around to the back of Jhaeros's neck and closed the distance bringing their lips together for a gentle kiss. He was being very attentive to Jhaeros's thoughts and emotions. It was sad that the Night Elf expected Skye to just bend him over and fuck him, and even worse, that it seemed that was all he'd ever experienced.
Skye broke the kiss but didn't let Jhaeros pull away. "This time's going to be different. Let us take care of you and make you feel good."
"But..."
"I promise we'll get there."
Skye guided Jhaeros to lie back on the bed, spreading the elf out like a feast. Even being a little undernourished and too skinny, he was beautiful. His ebony skin was smooth and flawless over lean, tight muscles. Wide shoulders tapering down to a narrow waist and a prominent Adonis belt pulled Skye's eye to the thick, tightly curled bush above his cock.
As an elf, Jhaeros was mostly smooth. His nipples and cock head were a shade lighter with a dusky reddish-purple cast. Skye could already imagine how stunning he would be as he got a few good meals in him and was able to add a little bulk to his muscles. He clearly took after his handsome father.
Skye kissed down Jhaeros's neck while his hands explored. He felt the firm muscle of his pecs and teased his tongue over an already hard nipple. Jhaeros whimpered and his back arched. Oh, love, how could they not have worshiped him? Skye asked his mate as he tasted the other nipple.
Because that's our job. Yours, mine and our brothers. We'll make sure we blow his ever-fucking mind. Not all that different to how Corbin used to expect to just drop his pants for a quick fuck. We know how to fix this.
True. Corbin's doing much better now. Are you going to join me?
Not yet. I promise I will when you've got him ready.
Skye continued kissing his way down until he buried his nose in the black, tight curls and inhaled.
'He smells good, can we move on to his dick now? I want to taste him,' Mistral said.
Skye obliged, wrapping his hand around the root of Jhaeros's shaft and giving it a gentle squeeze. A bubble of pre-cum formed, and he extended his tongue, catching and savoring the elf. "Mm."
"Aren't you going to-" Jhaeros's words were cut off with a gasp as Skye took the slender cock into his mouth and sucked.
Skye had to wonder if anyone had done this for the elf before-given his reaction, he thought not. He did his very best and caressed Jhaeros's thighs, stomach, and even teased his nipples while he worked. When he felt the elf getting close, he pulled back, lifting his slender legs and revealing his tiny little opening. Skye lapped at Jhaeros's balls, rolling them on his tongue before he licked the stretch of skin between them and his prize.
"Ohhhhh...darknesss," Jhaeros moaned as Garrett moved up beside him on the bed and put his large, strong hands to work. He moved in sync with Skye, making sure to warm the elf's body and build the fire Skye had started.
Skye gently licked around Jhaeros's rosebud, letting his tongue graze over the tender wrinkled opening. As Jhaeros spread his legs wider, gripping and pulling his knees to his chest, Skye began focusing on the tight opening, slowly relaxing it with his tongue until he managed to slide inside. He wasn't a master like Garrett, but he could do a decent job. If Garrett hadn't so firmly captured Jhaeros's mouth, Skye was sure he would have heard some interesting sounds from the young elf. If he'd never had a mouth on his cock, he was sure he'd never been properly rimmed. When Jhaeros's tight hole had eased enough for Skye to easily fuck him with his tongue, he knew it was time for Garrett to take over.
He's ready for you, love.
When Skye and Garrett both pulled back to change positions, Jhaeros managed to catch his breath. "Can I taste you?"
Garrett's idea immediately formed in Skye's mind. "Sure." Skye lay on the bed beside Jhaeros, and then he and Garrett rolled Jhaeros onto him so that his face was right over Skye's dick and Skye could take the elf's cock. Garrett moved behind and began massaging Jhaeros's round globes.
"It's so big..." Jhaeros stroked Skye before hesitantly taking him into his mouth.
"No pressure, Jhaeros. You don't have to do anything you don't want to."
Jhaeros gave a nervous chuckle around Skye's dick before pulling back. "Oh, I've done this more than a few times, but they weren't so thick."
Damn, baby. He's got a round pert ass for such a skinny dude.
Imagine how good it will look when we get him healthy.
"Mm." Garrett growled as he buried his face between Jhaeros's dark cheeks.
Skye began to pull his magic. If anyone deserved the pleasures of Skye's telekinetic abilities, it was Jhaeros who'd never been properly loved. Laying kisses all over the elf's body had not only been pleasurable, but it had told Skye where Jhaeros was most sensitive. Many of his men had places in common, but there were always subtle differences. As Skye suspected, Jhaeros's nipples were a hot spot, as was the back of his neck and his inner thighs. But having his hands and fingers be an erogenous zone was new.
This is one sweet, tight ass, Skye. He's so responsive. I'm going to enjoy fucking him once you've had a turn.
Skye checked again, and with the added stimulation of the elf's erogenous zones, he was in a lust haze, happily sucking on Skye's cock. You think he's ready?
"Please, please, just fuck me already!" Jhaeros pleaded when he took a break from Skye's dick.
Babe, I think this one was ready before he walked into the room.
Get naked, Garrett. I want him to worship that beast of yours while I take him.
Twist my arm!
Skye felt and heard Mistral laughing. 'It might take the entire wing to keep this one satisfied.'
That's not necessarily a bad thing, Mistral. He'll make a great mate for a dragon one day.
'Are we doing it when we bond him?' Mistral asked.
No, after. He's a lot safer if the changes don't happen until he's found his true mate. Skye released Jhaeros as Garrett lifted the elf to the side, letting Skye stand and move in behind their soon-to-be wing-mate.
He couldn't resist running his hands up Jhaeros's thighs and squeezing his cute, round butt cheeks, spreading them to show his hungry hole. Garrett had been right when he said the Night Elf was ready, and Skye leaned in and teased him a little more with his tongue, loving the sounds Jhaeros made.
"Oh, darkness! That's huge! It'll never fit."
Skye snickered to himself as he continued to taste Jhaeros's sweet hole. I guess Garrett showed him what he's packing, Mistral.
"It's okay, Jhaeros, you don't have to take it all. Just taste..."
'Oh, but he'll be taking it,' Mistral whispered. 'He won't even hesitate once he's bonded.'
Not one of them has yet. Pretty sure that even Gilian has fantasized about it-Lessai, I'm not sure since I try not to read her thoughts-too scary.
Skye decided it was time and stroked himself a couple of times, then slicked himself before putting his cock head at Jhaeros's entrance. He'd already used his magic to make sure Jhaeros's opening had relaxed. He ran his cock up and down Jhaeros's crack and then eased in past his outer ring. He was rewarded with a low rumble and "mmph," as Jhaeros groaned around Garrett's cock.
Bet you he gets my entire dick down his throat before he's through, Garrett sent.
Not wanting to get distracted, Skye shielded out the sensations he was picking up from his mate. Sometimes it was great to feel everything, but this time he wanted to really enjoy his first time taking Jhaeros and concentrate on making the elf feel good.
Skye began moving slowly, each time sliding a little farther into Jhaeros's tight hole while he relaxed his opening. Skye was trying to go slow, but Jhaeros had other ideas and pushed back, taking Skye to the root with one push.
"Yes! Now fuck me hard!"
'He means it, Skye. Feel the desperation? It's almost as if he needs to feel us deep inside him, pounding an orgasm out of him.'
Oh, we can do better than that, Mistral. Skye closed his eyes and searched with his other sight. He found the boy's pleasure gland and began massaging it in ways a thick cock couldn't even achieve. He also increased the tugging and squeezing of the boy's nibs, knowing they'd be sore tomorrow.
He did it, babe. He got every inch of my cock down his throat-not that he can keep it there yet, but I have faith, Garrett sent.
Skye changed to slow and steady, deep penetrating strokes. From what he picked up, Jhaeros was no longer capable of rational thought. His body and the pleasure he was feeling was all that existed. Skye knew this was far beyond any of the quick encounters the Night Elf had experienced before. After tonight, Mistral, he'll never be able to go back to his own for satisfaction. He'll never consider another who's not a wing-mate or a dragon.
'As it should be.' Mistral had very strong opinions on how they should care for their wing. The thought of any other being able to satisfy one of their own, unless it was a true mate, was just unacceptable.
Skye wasn't going to last much longer with the way Jhaeros was pushing back and squeezing. Since he was also getting close, Skye reached for his magic and then pulled in Garrett's as well.
Are you ready? Skye asked his mate. He reached under the elf and began stroking him in time with his thrusts.
Past ready.
Pushing the magic into Jhaeros seemed even easier than usual, as if the Night Elf's body seemed to crave the magic and pulled it in. The power flowed to every corner, every cell of the Night Elf's body and claimed him. Skye bit his lip as he came, his hot dragon seed pumping deep into Jhaeros's body as the magic glowed and the bond formed hitting the elf like a tidal wave and carrying him under. He felt Jhaeros's cock throb as it shot several times onto the bed below him.
"Fuck!" Garrett cried out, cumming at the same time, challenging Jhaeros's ability to swallow with the copious amount of cum he'd produced.
Skye could feel the magic thrumming through all three of them, binding them and building the bridge that would keep them connected for the rest of their lives. He could see the connection in his mind's eye glowing brightly.
When his orgasm and the aftershocks had passed, Skye slowly withdrew and collapsed on the bed beside them. Garrett gently maneuvered Jhaeros onto his back, lifting the elf's legs over his shoulders until he could access his recently fucked hole.
"Mm...so good," Garrett mumbled as he ate out Jhaeros's ass, causing the well fucked and semi-conscious elf to moan and thrash.
"You okay?" Skye asked, flicking one of Jhaeros's nipples.
"Mm...think I'm dead..."
Skye teased his fingers down Jhaeros's abs and then wrapped his hand around his still hard cock. "I think you've got another few rounds in you."
"Oh...darkness, I can feel you in my head."
"Remember what we talked about, you'll feel all of the wing. Don't worry, you'll adjust after a few days." Skye climbed on top of Jhaeros and straddled him as Garrett lowered the elf's legs.
"What?" Jhaeros squeaked.
"You've never been inside a guy before?" Skye slowly lowered himself, taking the elf's rigid length into his slick dragon hole.
"No." Jhaeros voice sounded like he was in pain.
"Don't worry, you're going to love it," Garrett said over Skye's shoulder as he worked his fingers into Jhaeros's ass. Skye had relaxed him, but some additional stretching would make sure Garrett didn't cause any pain.
"Ohhhhh..." Jhaeros moaned.
"You said you wanted all of the guys. We're just getting started," Skye teased as he lifted and then lowered again. He placed his hands on Jhaeros's pecs and tugged on his nibs as he picked up his tempo.
"UGH!" Jhaeros's eyes went wide, and his mouth opened, but sound stopped.
"Just relax, you're going to love having Garrett's big cock inside you. It feels so good, trust me," Skye said, knowing that Garrett had worked up to four fingers.
"So fucking tight," Garrett moaned. "Not gonna last long when I get in this."
Skye felt Garrett's body press against his back as he slowly worked into Jhaeros's tight ass.
"Fuuuuuckkk," Garrett groaned, and Skye felt Jhaeros's cock twitch and throb inside him as the elf's eyes blew wide and he gasped.
A pretty sure sign to Skye's mind that Garrett's big dick was bottomed out in Jhaeros's ass.
Mica and Corbin, are you still at the door? Skye sent.
Since you wouldn't let us come in with you, yes. Where did you expect us to be? Mica sent.
Don't pout. Wanna see if you can get a couple of the others to take your place for a bit? Jhaeros is about ready for you.
You're slipping, Skye. He didn't pass out, Corbin teased.
I think this one is pretty resilient; besides, wouldn't be able to fulfill his fantasy of all of you taking him if he wasn't conscious.
Me too? Teak joined in.
Of course, Teak. We couldn't deprive him of a good fairy dicking, now could we?
Skye heard the door opening behind him just as he felt the warm heat of Jhaeros's release inside him. Bending down, he kissed the elf and explored his mouth while Garrett finished. That also gave Corbin and Mica time to strip.
"That is so fucking hot. He's beautiful," Corbin said.
"Wait 'til you get inside him, so tight and silky and his cum...sweet as a fairy," Garrett added.
I heard that! Teak objected.
But you are sweet, and what's wrong if all the guys like tasting you, Teak?
Teak didn't respond, but Skye felt the humph of satisfaction from his wing-mate.
Skye broke the kiss and pulled at Jhaeros's lower lip with his teeth as they separated. "You still want the others? You don't have to, and it's okay to say no."
"I want them all," Jhaeros's silver eyes were glowing, and the tone left no doubt that he was certain.
Skye and Garrett moved out of the way so that Corbin and Mica could take their places. Skye decided he'd stay close by and monitor the Night Elf to make sure he was okay. From the sounds he made as Mica slid home and Corbin mounted him, Skye was pretty sure Jhaeros was in a very happy place.
He reached out to the other wing-mates and let them know they'd be up soon, and in the process, discovered that Bryan and Kuai had finished with Arnakkhor. Proof of Jhaeros's claim that he got some of his needs from his father.
A quick check on Gilian confirmed Skye's suspicions that her sleeping arrangements were platonic. Then he wondered if he could find Mattekin. The druid wasn't a bond-mate yet, but when he'd helped heal him, he "had" been in his head.
With concentration and keeping his touch gentle so as not to disturb him, Skye connected. He was more than a little surprised to see that the shifter-druid was in the midst of a receiving one of Underhill's sendings. But this one appeared to be a front-row seat to what was happening in the room with Skye. Mattekin was seeing Mica take Jhaeros, just as it appeared in front of Skye's eyes.
Mistral, do you think Underhill has been sending this since we started? Did he see Garrett and me bond him?
'I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Underhill doesn't seem to be taking chances. And don't forget you still need to change Jhaeros so he can be a dragon's mate,' Mistral reminded him.
Right. Skye moved over to the bed and gave Corbin a quick kiss as he laid his hand on Jhaeros's forehead. Now he could make Jhaeros a potential bond-mate without starting the transformation as he had with Dillon. Skye pulled his magic, and with a small burst of light, triggered the change.
That was almost too easy, Mistral.
