Dancing with the Dragon Chapter 32: The Wiseman by Tripp Savidge
- Scene 1 *
"It can't be... Grandma, Grandpa," River echoed as he stood with a stunned look on his face.
"Oh, god, Charlie. Look at them," Nancy Eklund said putting her hands to her face as her eyes filled with tears.
"Well, I'll be damned," Charlie Eklund said.
Skye ran to his grandmother and pulled her into a hug, not even trying to stop the tears. His grandfather stepped in and wrapped his arms around both of them.
"Goodness, it is so good to see you, boys!" Charlie exclaimed. "Don't just stand there like a fool, River. Get over here and hug your pops."
Skye could hear River's sobs as his grandfather wrapped him in his loving arms.
"Okay everyone, why don't we give them some privacy. I have some treats for you in the Library," Prince Argos said loudly enough to get their attention.
Skye, if you need me, call, Garrett sent, hesitantly leaving his mate. "Come on Nik. Let's give them some space."
Skye was vaguely aware that his men had left the room, but he was still trying to convince himself that this was all real.
His grandmother stepped back and held his arms, giving him a good once- over. "Well, look at you. You've grown! And this hair! My goodness, so long and thick." She ran her fingers through his hair and shook her head. "Aren't you just the most handsome thing?"
"This one isn't too far behind," Grandpa added ruffling River's hair. "Look at my little hell-raiser, my goodness, River. And where's my little, nerdy boy? What in blazes have you two been eating?"
"Look who's talking. You two look great," Skye teased back. And they did, his grandfather stood tall and lean and looked at least ten years younger. And his grandmother was stunning, looking better than Skye ever remembered.
"It's not just the fancy clothes. Look at this," Charlie said raising his right arm over his head and spinning around. "I haven't been able to lift that arm since I got hurt in the war!"
"I don't understand, how did you even get here?" Skye said shaking his head and catching River's eye.
"Why don't we sit down, son. That Prince fella said we'd be knocking you two on your asses and to expect ya to be confused."
Charlie and Nancy sat on one of the couches beside each other while Skye and River took a seat on the couch facing them.
"Boys, you don't know what a relief it is just to see you - alive and well. Your grandfather and I were so worried, even though they told us you were okay. Seeing is believing."
"What? You knew?" Skye said in confusion.
His grandmother started crying again and pulled out a handkerchief. "Not for long. Oh, listen to me. Sorry boys. I'm just so happy. Goodness, can't make a mess of this beautiful dress!"
Skye stared. It was too hard to believe. Not only was he sitting with his grandparents, but they'd been dressed up like Draga royalty and damn if his grandmother wouldn't give Lady Telawynn some competition for mature beauty. She'd never let herself go gray, and she still had the blond hair he'd always remembered.
"Who goes first? Can you tell us how you got here? I swear Skye, and I had no idea," River said.
"We've got lots of catching up to do. But I'll start, and grandma can correct me where I get it wrong," Charlie said giving a loving look to Nancy.
"Of course, dear."
"It won't make sense unless we start way back. We saw about the gas main explosion at the campus on the eleven o'clock news. Tried to call both of you right away - 'course, neither of you answered. The school couldn't tell us anything; police wouldn't say anything, so we just waited. I called your roommate, Christian, but he was at home and didn't even know about the explosion or what happened at the school."
"It was awful waiting to hear. But somehow, I just couldn't believe you boys were hurt. I thought I'd feel it in my heart. So you can imagine my shock when the police came by late Sunday to tell us that you'd both been killed." Skye's grandmother blew her nose and wiped away fresh tears.
"They didn't have bodies, but they did have some of your stuff for us to look at. Your phone, Skye, it was a charred mess. Your wallet, River, and your class ring, mostly melted and almost unrecognizable. A shoe and part of a belt and buckle. It looked pretty bad. After they left, we just held each other and cried." His grandfather turned to his grandmother and squeezed her hand.
She looked up at the ceiling for a moment composing herself. "It was many weeks later when the doorbell rang, and things changed. What Charlie? It had to be maybe eleven o'clock - real late anyway for callers. I figured it was the neighborhood kids playing a prank; you know how they do."
"I got up telling your grandma to stay put and that I'd take care of it. Opened the door and saw these men in suits, like some spy show on TV. They gave their names and flashed official-looking badges and said we were in danger. Before I could get a word out, they pushed in followed by armed soldiers - scary types all in black, helmets, the whole nine yards."
"You can understand we were a bit overwhelmed. One of the men asked us to sit down, so he could explain. I got everyone coffee, though honestly, it was more for me so I could stop shaking," Grandma added. "Then I guess you'd say our lives turned upside down. We'd already had your memorial service and packed up the stuff from your dorm room, though we couldn't bring ourselves to do much more. We put the boxes in your room and shut the door. I had the trash bags sitting at the door to River's room, and I can't tell you how many times I'd open the door, look in and see that guitar of his and just start balling. Then I'd close the door and convince myself I'd be able to tackle it tomorrow."
"But who were the men?" River asked.
"We'll get there, son. Skye, you also might wanna know Jasper was real broken up," Charlie said.
"Oh, goodness. That first week, he came by almost every day. He'd go into your room and just sit and cry. I felt so bad for him. So, anyway, Charlie, go ahead and tell them about the men," Grandma gave Skye a look that almost brought him back to tears. It was so "Grandma," it was the look that told them to listen up - they'd seen it all their lives.
"I'll give you the 'Readers Digest' version. They said we were in danger and that we had to be moved. You and River were 'not' dead, but had been put in a witness protection program, and if we cooperated, we might just get to see you again. They gave us time to pack a bag and grab a sentimental item we just couldn't live without."
"I may have challenged them, a little," Nancy said with a smile.
Skye and River both laughed just imagining her picking "a" sentimental item. Everything in the house had sentimental value, was important, and a "treasure" as she always said.
"You did, dear, you certainly did. Now, boys, I know you're going to think we've gone totally senile and lost our minds, but I swear, as God is my witness, this is the truth. When we were getting ready to leave, I came back into the living room and there, sitting in my chair - was me. I kid you not. Thought I'd lost my mind - I've seen that face every day of my life. I turned around and saw the look your Grandma was giving me and realized it wasn't my imagination. Then, but doesn't her double walk in, and in your Grandma's voice and just as if she said it herself says to us 'Better get a move on, wouldn't want to be late.'"
Skye turned to River. Could dopplegangers be real?
Why not? Look how many other legends we've run in to.
Skye, Garrett's mind-voice poked. I don't know what a doppleganger is, but there is an alien race that can take on another's form. We call them 'mimics.' I'm sure you can ask Pater later.
Thanks, love. You heard that, right, River?
Loud and clear. Thanks, Garrett. Jump in anytime.
Skye turned back to his grandparents. "River and I have seen some pretty unbelievable things. We don't think you're crazy, or well, at least about that."
"Good to know everything hasn't changed, you're still a smart-ass," Nancy laughed.
"No, that has changed. I'm the smart-ass, old Skye here, has just learned to loosen up a little," River teased.
Skye watched as his grandmother took it in and gave him a skeptical look. "You're right, River. How'd I miss that? So what happened to my serious, brooding boy?"
"Ah, don't worry Gran, he's in there. I'm still working on him, but every once in a while, you might see a spark of humor. Just look quick."
Skye blushed as his grandparents laughed - clearly at his expense. "Go on with the story."
"The men wouldn't tell us much. Just said it would cause more problems if it were apparent we disappeared. So next thing we know, your grandma and I are on a private jet and then spent the next several days in some secluded vacation house on a beach. No idea where, but we figured it was either in the Caribbean or on the Gulf, from the color of the water and the palm trees and such. They had people taking care of us, and anything we wanted, books, movies, food, all we had to do was ask. Well, except for information. We tried asking - everyone - nada."
"We were so thrilled and excited you boys might be okay, we really didn't care. Sure we were worried about your grandpa's job and the house and how we'd pay for things and wondered what our doubles were doing to our lives. Then one day, one of the 'suits' came to visit. He said we'd be leaving soon and that before we did they'd have a doctor give us a once over to make sure we were well." Skye's grandmother smoothed out the dark blue silk of her dress and took a deep breath. "Then it got weird. Yes, I know as if it weren't already strange enough. We really thought seeing our doubles was something. Well let me tell you, it didn't prepare us."
Grandpa took over. "They brought the doctor to us. Asked us all sorts of questions and then said he was going to do an exam. But first, he wanted us to take something to relax us a little. Relax? Hell, next thing we remember is waking up here. So I gotta ask, they told us we're on another planet. That true?"
"Yeah, Grandpa. You're on Draga, not Earth," Skye answered.
"Geez, ya hear that Nancy?"
"I'm sorry, boys. It's been a bit of a whirlwind. When your grandpa and I woke up, we thought we were in a hospital. Different doctors came and checked on us and... goodness, I don't' even know how to say it. We both feel great. Like I haven't felt in years! They told us we didn't need any of our medications!"
"You know how many pills I had to take? That was nothing short of a miracle!" Grandpa burst in. "Cholesterol, blood pressure, arthritis medicine and my special pills for well... you know."
Skye blushed - yeah he knew but didn't really want to think about that as it related to his grandparents.
"Then we got visitors," Grandpa said with a roll of his eyes.
"Charlie quit. So one of the men to come see us said he was a friend of yours. A military type, or at least in uniform. Really handsome man, dark tan and gorgeous auburn hair in braids," Grandma said fanning herself.
"The other one, though... little guy. I would have said he was a kid, but he sure didn't talk or act like one. And he was BLUE!" Grandpa exclaimed.
Oh, god. I'm afraid to even ask, Skye thought. "And, what did they tell you?"
"Mr. Lopez was extremely kind. He explained where we were, what had 'actually' happened to you and River. He tried to explain the, what did he call it... bonding process. That you were both now married, my words, not his. And that you were part of the 'Royal Family.'"
"Boys, I have to ask. I made a wager with that Mr. Kwill kid. He said he was older than me; I told him he was full of it. So I'm right, aren't I?"
"Oh, god, Grandpa. Please tell me you didn't," Skye felt a little queasy. "No, you're not right. Kwill is several years older than you. He's a psion, and they don't get 'bigger' and even in old age, they don't look old by our standards. What did you..." Fuck, what am I asking! Skye quickly tightened his shields. "No! No! Don't tell me what you bet, don't even think it!"
"Well, damn," Grandpa said with a notable blush. "So that's true too?"
"What Grandpa?" River asked when he noticed Skye looked rather ill.
"Mr. Kwill said Skye could read minds now."
"Yeah, he can. Though I'm betting, he's shielding really tightly, so I think you're safe." River turned to look at Skye. He didn't bet 'that' did he?
I'm not even going to think about it. And please don't you think about it either. You know Kwill as well as I do.
"So, I guess this means you know Skye and I are both married to guys?" River asked giving Skye time to recompose himself.
"Yes, River and don't fret over it for one second!" Grandma took Grandpa's hand and smiled at him before turning back to look pointedly at both River and Skye. "We are fine with it, both of us."
"Really?" Skye asked in disbelief.
"Even if the blue kid didn't threaten me, yeah we are. We sort of already knew about River. We'd overheard a few things and saw enough to suspect pretty strongly. We weren't sure you'd ever loosen up enough to go out with anyone - boy or girl. Though it was pretty clear Jasper was hoping. And Mr. Kwill said it wouldn't have mattered anyway - that if you found your match, it just was."
"How did Kwill threaten you?" Skye asked suspiciously.
"He said he worked for you, not sure if that's true or not, but he seems a bit protective. Made it clear that we weren't allowed to make you feel bad and if we had issues that we were to keep them to ourselves... or else."
Skye couldn't help but smile. "Yeah, I guess you could say he works for me. It's more complicated, but that's close."
"Your Grandfather is telling you the truth, Skye. We had gotten used to the idea and done a lot of research when your dad was a teen. Goodness knows, the information they have now is so much better. But we sort of expected your dad to come home with a boy someday. I'll be honest; we were really surprised when he brought your mom home. In hindsight, I'm really glad he did, that gave us you two. But to be honest," Grandma turned to look at Grandpa, who nodded, "we really think your dad was at least bi, if not gay. While I think we could accept it, I'm not sure he ever could."
Skye turned to River, too stunned to form words.
I got nothing, bro. I barely remember them. We'll probably never know, and I'm not sure it matters, River sent.
Yeah, but... Yeah, you're right.
Skye turned back and saw a questioning look on his grandparents' faces. "Sorry, it has gotten to be habit for River and me to speak mind-to-mind. We were just stunned. We weren't sharing secrets or anything bad."
"We always said you two acted like identical twins, with a closer connection than most brothers," Grandma said.
"So you met Prince Argos and Emperor Darius as well?" Skye asked.
"Just today. Though we did get a chance to talk on the trip here. They said we were family and welcomed us. Argos told us more about what's happened to you two, about their family and what we could expect. He also went into more explanation of why everything played out the way it did."
"Did he say what happens next?" River asked.
Grandpa laughed. "Dinner, I think. If you mean long-term, we've been told we'll be living here now. Well, here on this planet. They said it was for our own safety and yours as well. We get some time to think about it, but Darius said we could have our own place or live with them."
"It's all a bit much," Grandma laughed.
"Do you have questions for us?" Skye asked.
"Are you happy?" Grandma asked.
"Very. I love Garrett more than I thought possible. I can't say I like all the politics and plots that come with being tied to the Royal Family, but other than that, yeah."
"Same," River said. "Nik is the best. I really hope you like him."
"I'm sure we will, son," Grandpa said. "We were also assured you're both continuing your education."
"Yeah. I think you'll really come to like Argos; he's even tougher than you Grandma. He made it very clear that our education was not optional," Skye said.
"We both have lots of questions boys, but I'm not sure that we can absorb anymore right now. Maybe later. Prince Argos also promised we could watch the recordings of your ceremonies. I think right now, though, we'd like to meet your husbands," Nancy said.
"Cool," River said.
"And no rush on watching the ceremonies, nothing special Grandma. If you've seen one wedding you've seen them all," Skye said.
River snorted. "You are so full of shit!"
"Oh, goodness, it's so good to see you two. Give us another hug!"
- Scene 2 *
"May I present, my husband and bond-mate, Garrett D'Or Drakken. Garrett, my grandparents, Charlie and Nancy Eklund," Skye said. He was more than a little nervous. He'd brought his grandparents into the library rather than having a parade come to them. Skye could feel the tension from his men; they were all watching him cautiously. He had no doubt he was broadcasting a very confusing flurry of emotion.
Garrett shook Charlie's hand, giving his best smile. Then took Nancy's hand and brought it to his lips as he bowed and kissed the back of her fingers. "It is an honor, my lady. And thank you for the most precious gift anyone has ever given me. I love your grandson more than anything in this universe."
Charlie leaned into Skye and whispered. "Son, for a man that good looking, I'd have switched teams."
Skye smiled and blushed. "He is pretty awesome."
"Oh, my, Skye. How do you ever drag yourself out of bed in the morning," Nancy asked fanning herself.
"Grandma!"
"I promise you, Ms. Eklund, I'm the one who struggles. I assure you that your grandson has me wrapped around his little finger." Garrett said with a big smile and then caught Skye's eye. See I cleaned it up for you. I was thinking that you had me wrapped around your big, gorgeous dick.
Skye snorted and blushed even more.
"Grandma, Grandpa. This is Nikias D'Or Drakken, my bond-mate, and Garrett's younger brother."
"Dearie, me. Yes he is, isn't he?" Nancy practically purred as Nik kissed her hand. "Argos and Darius I must say you've produced the most handsome sons."
"It's an honor, Mr. Eklund," Nik said shaking Charlie's hand.
"Please son, from now on you're welcome to call us Grandma and Grandpa. No need for formalities with us."
"Garrett, you wouldn't happen to have an older brother, would you? Sorry dear," Nancy said with a slightly guilty glance to Charlie.
"No, I'm the oldest. But I do have another younger brother to introduce."
Garrett, so help me, if you say dragons share I will hurt you, Skye sent.
Skye proceeded to introduce his grandparents to all the others, including his guards. He made a point to say they weren't just guards but close friends and in many ways more like brothers. He also gave extra care when introducing Rilien, Willow, and Dillon. He'd wanted to do the same for Christos, but since he was officially his brother, he wasn't quite sure how to make the distinction.
"I apologize, but I'll never remember all your names," Nancy said.
"Don't worry Grandma, they'll remind you 'til you get it," River assured her.
"I've never felt like such an ugly duckling," Charlie muttered.
"You? I appear to be one of only two women, surrounded by men who look like Chippendales Dancers and who aren't the least bit interested! Why are there not more women?"
"It's a long story. Another of my guards, Leesai, is also female but she's resting, having worked last night. Fiske, one of my other male dragon guards, is also resting, and yes before you ask. He's as pretty as the others."
"So are all the men on Draga..." Nancy seemed to struggle to put the words together.
"No, your grandson just happens to be a magnet for the most handsome. Though I think if you asked them, they'd all say Skye and River are the prettiest," Argos said handing a goblet of wine to each of his grandparents.
"Absolutely," Nik and Garrett said simultaneously. The other guys all nodded enthusiastically making Skye want to crawl under the couch.
"And we were worried you'd never come out of your shell," Nancy said giving Skye a wicked smile.
"Sometimes, we have to go in and drag him out," Garrett said with a wink.
"And dragons are visually impaired; you forgot to mention that, Pater," Skye added.
Argos laughed. "You raised a very modest young man." He turned to the group. "Is everyone hungry? Dinner is ready. And before there's an argument, the Emperor's Guard are on duty, and that means the rest of you are at the table."
Kleitos led the others to the grand dining hall, while Skye hung back and approached Pater. "Thank you so much! I can't believe this. My grandparents are here? I know I have you to thank and don't know where to even start. And then! You include my guys for dinner. You have no idea how much this means to me."
"Actually, I do," Argos confided. "Garrett and Nik both came to me about your guards. I wish you would have told me yourself, Skye." He turned and put a hand on either side of Skye's face and looked into his eyes. "You are my son now, and I can't tell you how thrilled I am. You are a father's dream come true. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you sooner about your grandparents. There were too many risks and too much of a chance for things to go wrong or others to find out."
"I don't care how you did it. Thank you, Pater. You're the best." Skye hugged Pater and wondered how he got to be so lucky.
"Let's go eat before they come looking for us. We can talk more later."
Skye's mouth dropped open when they entered. It was stunning. A tree had been added to the grand dining room. And not just any tree, it was even bigger than the one in the grand parlor at almost thirty feet and lit with twinkling lights. Floating high above near the ornately carved and vaulted ceiling were more small floating moats of light, like stars. Huge candelabras lined the table, and the wall sconces glowed filling the room with warm light. Fire's burned in both fireplaces, and there were banquet tables heaped with every food imaginable. There was even a small string quartet playing Christmas music. "Wow."
"Glad you like it, babe. I told Pater he needed to go all out." Garrett pressed into Skye's back and kissed his neck.
"He did."
"Yeah," Garrett snickered. "It's always a spread, but I gotta say, even I'm impressed. And notice the table."
Skye looked at the festive table and realized it had been scaled down to fit their number. With the tree, it wasn't as obvious that the table didn't take the whole space and with the candles, place settings, and additional food, he hadn't even noticed.
"Can I get you some wine?"
"Not Dragonberry..." Skye said turning to look over his shoulder and giving Garrett a skeptical look.
"Would I do that?" Garrett smiled innocently, but Skye knew what he was thinking.
"In a heartbeat," Skye muttered joining River and his grandparents as they marveled at the room and food.
"Please take your seats," Argos called out.
Skye noticed Dillon standing back and scowled at him. Dillon. Seat. Now.
Dillon hesitantly approached and leaned in whispering. "I have to check your food."
"No. You don't. Sit." Skye stood and took Dillon's arm, physically guiding him to his seat. I think we can trust the Emperor's tasters. You are on Holiday, and there are more than enough servers. So sit and enjoy yourself. That's an order.
"But Skye..."
Dillon, I will embarrass you in front of everyone if necessary. I think all the guys would love to see you spread-eagle with an apple in your mouth on the table when I offer you up as dessert.
You wouldn't! Dillon's face had completely drained of color. But Skye also knew his pretty elf had also gone rock-hard.
Yup. Even with my grandparents here.
Dillon sat and put his napkin in his lap without saying another word. Skye wouldn't really have done it of course, but he did find it more than a little interesting how much Dillon was turned on by the idea.
The feast, the food, and the company was better than Skye had ever dreamed. It took a while, and a bit of wine but soon everyone was relaxed and talking. All the social barriers seemed to fade, and it was like one big, happy family. Even Leesai seemed to enjoy herself, though she still didn't talk much. His boys - though he felt a little guilty thinking of them that way when several were technically older than he - were chatting away with excitement he didn't see often. He caught Gilian smiling as she watched her brother enjoying himself and laughing.
Skye's grandparents spent most of the evening speaking with Darius and Argos when not talking with Skye and River. There were a number of times the conversation got a bit earthy, a given with Nik and Garrett, and Skye gave nervous glances to see if his grandparents had heard. He wasn't sure he was ready for them to know quite how "familiar" he was with all the guys. Bad enough they knew he married a guy, but for them to find out he was having sex with most of them. No, not going to happen.
Skye. River's mental tone carried a boatload of subtext.
Yeah?
Don't yeah, me. Quit. Smack that voice down in your head and listen to your dragon. Grandma and Grandpa love us and given how they handled everything else; I don't think dragon sexuality is going to faze them.
Well, we'll just never know.
"So Grandma, Grandpa. Has anyone explained some of the cultural differences between Earth and Draga?" River asked, making most heads at the table turn.
Skye wanted to crawl under the table seeing the look that crossed his Grandfather's face and Garrett's smile. Oh, god, just kill me now.
"Oh, yeah. That Mr. Lopez and Kwill here warned us. Didn't want us to be too shocked I guess. Not all that different from the Woodstock days, if you ask me. All you're missing is the pot," Charlie said with a laugh.
"River. We're not nearly the prudes you think we are," Nancy added.
"Oh, I don't care. But you might check on the guy trying to slide under the table. He has some guilt issues." River pointed across to Skye. That caused almost everyone to burst into laughter.
Skye, it's okay. They don't care. I know you're shielding but trust me, they're fine and don't think less of you, Garrett sent.
Fortunately for Skye, dessert distracted everyone and conversations moved on.
- Scene 3 *
Skye stood in the library, looking out the large windows. The moons were bright out tonight, and it gave a magical feeling to the wintery landscape. He needed some time to process. Everyone else was in the grand parlor - even his guards, though he did notice Corbin and Mica watching him rather intently while trying 'not to be noticed' doing so. Garrett was still with him mentally but giving him some space.
"It's beautiful," Charlie said walking up to stand beside Skye.
"With all the changes and everything that's happened, who'd have thought I'd miss snow?"
"You're worrying too much."
HA! See I'm not the only one! Garrett's mind voice echoed.
"What?" Skye said turning to look at his grandfather, again amazed at how much younger and healthier he looked and a bit off-kilter from Garrett's interruption.
"Can't fool me, Skye. I know the look, the set of your shoulders, how you're carrying yourself. For all the changes, some things remain the same. Your father was the same way."
"I don't know what you mean."
"Sure you do. That voice in your head making you feel guilty and unworthy. Your Dad had it bad too. Skye, your grandmother and I love you so much. When we found out you and River were still alive and well... goodness. I got down on my knees and thanked God. Told him I owed him big-time and I'd go where ever he sent me. 'Course now I wonder about that... Wasn't rightly expecting another planet."
Skye laughed. "Yeah, be careful Gramps. He has a wicked sense of humor."
"And sometimes we get exactly what we need. Your man is pretty impressive, and I don't just mean because he looks like a supermodel. Damn, but he loves you. I can see it in his eyes."
"Sometimes I still pinch myself to prove I'm not dreaming and that it's real," Skye said sending a mental hug to Garrett as he spoke.
"I've got bruises from pinching myself so much lately. I think I understand. So enough evasion. Why are you doing this to yourself?"
"What?"
"Your grandma and I never laid this guilt on you, so we sometimes wonder where it came from. Like I said - we love you and accept you. All of you. And now you're a dragon. You're gonna have to show us, you know. That's still going to take some time to wrap my head around. I'd say I was getting too old for this shit, but I feel better than ever."
"You think it's tough. I now have another voice in my head and can change into a mythical creature the size of a tractor-trailer."
"Oh, so the sex isn't bothering you then?" Grandpa asked with a smirk.
"The what?" Skye squeaked.
"The hot, passionate, wild sex you have with all these pretty fellas."
Skye felt the heat rush to his face as he sputtered. "Th... the... the what?"
He said sex, Skye. You know those activities you love so much but won't admit to? Garrett teased. Skye struggled to get his head back on track - there were times when being constantly connected to his mate could be a pain in the ass.
"I know you and River don't think of your gran and me as 'sexual' creatures, but we're not dead, and we're not blind. Even if that little blue fella hadn't explained it to us, I'd have figured it out. The way they look at you and how their eyes track you when you move. The turn of phrase, the subtle innuendo and how they all need to touch you."
"Kwill told you! I'm going to kill him..." Skye muttered. He could hear Garrett's mental laughter in the back of his head.
"No, you won't. Ya oughta thank him. Don't hide it, Skye. And don't be feelin' bad about it either. Stop fighting and enjoy it! Live your life to the fullest, and you grab those guys and hang on tight. Your mate's obviously okay with it. And so am I. You and River are special, and you have a purpose in life. Anyone who can pull people to him like you've done is going to do big things. You've been given an incredible opportunity. Is it out of your comfort zone? Sure, but if you don't stretch you won't grow. What did we always say when things got tough?"
"What doesn't break us makes us stronger."
"Cliche as it is. It works. I'm certainly out of my comfort zone. I always expected you'd have in-laws that were a lot younger. I didn't expect them to look younger and be older and hell, let's just make them dragons and royalty. Make the old man stand on the coals and smoke him a little." Charlie chuckled. "But you know what? They love ya. Clear as day. And, they believe in you too. I don't think God just wrote on the wall for ya there Skye. I think he took out a neon billboard and hired skywriters."
"I have missed you so much," Skye said as he hugged his grandpa tightly.
"And we've missed you. But don't hide from us now. Be yourself. Your grandma and I can handle it, honest. We thought we lost you, son. I'm so glad you and River are okay, I'm not about to be bothered by a little free-spiritedness. Not to gross you out, but I wasn't exactly chaste as a youngster, and neither was your gran."
Okay, I got nothin', Skye thought as he stepped back and looked at the man he thought he knew.
Charlie burst out laughing. "Since I already fried your circuits you might as well know. I had a boyfriend once upon a time. Damn could he fuck - made me see stars every time. Yup, your old grandpa loved dick and taking it up the ass."
"Does grandma know?" Skye blurted out.
"Course she does. You come by it natural son, so cut yourself some slack, and you smack that voice down when it gives you grief."
Oh, my god. My head hurts. Skye thought as he watched his grandad walk out the door.
I really like that man, Skye. He's a keeper, Garrett sent.
- Scene 4 *
Skye rejoined the rest of the family and accepted the mulled wine with a smile. Everyone seemed to be so relaxed and having a good time. The Christmas music and the fires in the large fireplaces made it feel cozy - or as cozy as it could be given the opulence of the room. The tree in the grand parlor was also sparkling with tiny, multi-colored lights, When Skye got up close he was surprised that he couldn't find wires and if he touched a light it was cool and moved easily, but as soon as he pulled his finger away, it dropped back into place. The ornaments were fanciful blown glass, not all that different from what his grandmother had collected.
"You doing okay?" Garrett asked wrapping his arm around Skye.
"There are no wires." Skye frowned as he tried to figure out how that was even possible. "Is it magic?"
"No, just tech. There's a control unit that has a diagram of optimal placement from a scan of the trees and branch placement. It has the power and feeds it to the lights. Don't you have that on Earth?"
Skye laughed. "Not yet."
"Your grandparents are pretty awesome. They seem to be getting along very well with everyone, and I notice Pater and your grandmother are as thick as thieves. We may need to worry; they keep looking our way."
"Probably. I'm still feeling sort of numb." Skye leaned into Garrett and rested his head on Garrett's shoulder.
"From having them here or the little talk with your grandpa?"
Skye snorted. "It's going to take my brain a while to catch up. Don't get me wrong; I'm thrilled beyond reason that they accepted all this. Grandpa usually tells it straight. So if he says he's okay with it, then I gotta believe him. Just..."
"Just too good to be true?"
Skye looked into Garrett's dark eyes and felt his heart do a little flip. "Yeah. Like you."
"I'm not surprised. They did good with you and River. So, have you cornered Kwill yet?"
"Little chicken shit. No, he's been very carefully staying at a distance."
"Maybe he's just waiting for you to calm down."
Skye kissed Garrett and ran his tongue over Garrett's lip, savoring the taste of his mate. "I'm doing better. He was probably right and given how Grandpa took it, it probably helped. Hey, didn't you say you usually do a gift exchange, Christmas Eve."
"Yeah, we do, but Pater said we'll do it in the morning. He didn't want to take away from the reunion with your grandparents or make the guys feel awkward."
"Pater is a pretty awesome guy," Skye said giving a playful squeeze to Garrett's ass. He loved the feel of Garrett's body, and the muscled round ass was one of his favorite parts. Skye stepped back as he felt Mica approaching.
"Hey, just wanted to thank you again for including us. This was amazing," Mica said with a bashful smile.
"You are very welcome," Skye answered and felt Mica's desire to kiss him as clearly as if he'd shouted it.
"The others are sort of afraid to say anything but they feel the same way. Didn't want to embarrass you in front of your grandparents. We're all happy for you, Skye."
Skye hesitated a moment, quickly glancing to find his grandparents. His grandfather was talking with Darius, and his grandmother was fussing over Nik and River. Skye felt a nudge from his dragon. 'You said you believed your grandfather and you don't want to disappoint Mica.' Just as Mica was about to turn away, Skye caught his arm and turned him back into a hug.
Mica was surprised but quickly wrapped his arms around Skye and reveled in the feel of Skye's body, his eyes went wide and would have gasped if Skye's mouth wasn't firmly planted on his own.
Skye kissed Mica letting his tongue explore as Mica opened to him. His dragon purred in satisfaction as Skye savored the taste of Mica and the feel of his body pressed against him. He knew he'd surprised Mica but in a good way. Skye could feel Mica's cock press against him as they devoured each other's mouths. Fuck, you taste so good. I've missed my surfer dude, Skye sent as Mica's tongue battled his own.
"Wow," Mica whispered when they separated.
"You're always a 'wow,' Mica. And if they ask, that was your reward for bravery and coming to talk to me."
"I don't know if I want to tell them... they might start getting up the nerve to speak for themselves." Mica gave Skye a big smile and squeezed his hand before moving away.
"Trying to make the others jealous?" Garrett asked.
"No, testing the waters to see how my grandparents react and maybe giving the others more reason not to hold back so much."
"What? You think your grandpa wasn't telling the truth?"
"We'll see." Skye saw his grandmother approaching - a big smile on her face. His grandfather must have noticed because he seemed to finish his conversation with Darius and walked over to join them.
"Everything is so beautiful, Skye. I feel like I'm in a dream," Nancy said.
"Yeah. But I'll confess you get used to the food quickly." Skye gave her a wink as she pulled him into a hug.
"You've become so handsome son, I just look at you and think wow, that jock is my little nerd. Your gran and I are so happy."
"I'm so glad you're both safe and here with us!" Skye said giving a hug to his grandfather.
"And thank you, Skye, for not trying to hide who you are," Charlie said as he squeezed Skye a little tighter.
"What do you mean?"
"That handsome blond you kissed. You made his night. Your grandma and I have been watching and noticed a couple of your men couldn't keep their eyes off of you. I expected it with this big muscle man, but he already claimed you. The little fellow explained it a bit, saying it's part of you being a dragon and the type of dragon... magic and all. I can't say we understand all of it but we know people and they love ya son."
"He's right Skye. Don't hide and don't punish them for that voice telling you what you 'should' do. Be happy and let love happen. We did," Nancy said.
"Good night boys, we're going to call it a night. Guess you can't call it jet lag, but we're both exhausted from the trip and all the excitement. We'll see you in the morning."
Nancy pulled Garrett down and kissed his cheek before turning to Skye. "I love you Skye, and I am so very happy for you and Garrett. You make a stunning couple."
"Thanks, grandma."
Skye saw his grandpa leaning in and bent forward.
"Don't hold back son, the more love you give, the more you'll get and trust me, nothing says love like making a man scream in pleasure, or in your case, men," Charlie whispered into Skye's ear.
Skye chuckled. "Thanks, Grandpa, I'll remember that."
- Scene 5 *
"You get a chance to talk to him?" Garrett asked as he looked up when Skye entered the room.
"Yeah. He and Nik were headed to bed too. He's as overwhelmed as I am. Seems Grandpa had a talk with River as well. Not the same talk but just as encouraging and accepting. Sorta weird, but he told River that he needed to stick close to me - that I'd really need him. Not sure why. Guess Grandpa didn't think River had the same sex inhibitions I did. I told River about our talk and Grandpa's revelations - he wasn't as surprised as I thought he'd be."
"I'm glad it worked out. They seem like great people."
"So you had no idea?" Skye went to the closet and began looking for what to set out for the next day.
"What are you doing?"
"Setting out clothes for tomorrow. If I don't, Dillon will come in and think he has to take care of me. I want him to relax and have fun."
"So, you're trying to prove to him that he's not needed?"
"I can pick out my own clothes."
"You're missing my point. Dillon loves taking care of you. It gives him purpose. If you keep proving that you don't need him, what will that do to him?"
"Shit," Skye muttered as he clearly realized that Dillon was already on shaky ground and contributing was important to him.
"You're right." Skye still pulled out clothes but made sure to pick the absolute worst combination he could.
"That is truly hideous, Skye."
"Yup. So Dillon will come in and see that I tried and failed. Miserably. He'll pick out the perfect thing, and all is good."
"Mmmm. So fucking pretty and smart too."
Skye watched attentively as Garrett started getting undressed. The firelight painted him in beautiful golden light, making his skin shimmer and showing off the stunning body to perfection. Skye started thinking about how much he wanted to run his hand and tongue over that body. His dick was already responding. He thought back to the first time he saw Garrett when Skye was strapped to the wall, and he got his very first kiss from a man. A kiss that lit a fire in his gut and turned his world upside down. And damn, the sex with Garrett... So amazing.
"... Skye?" Garrett said.
"Huh?"
"I called you like three times. Seems you were too busy staring at my ass to hear me. And you don't have to ask. My body is yours, and you can lick whatever you'd like, whenever you'd like."
"Good. You were saying?" Skye shook his head and started removing his clothes, all too aware of how hard and aroused he was.
"I was saying, no I had no idea. Pater promised when you were first chosen that everything would be taken care of. As you've already seen, he makes it very clear when question time is over. He never said more and I 'did' ask after the Underhill thing because I knew you were worried. I got the 'look' and the simple answer of 'it's been taken care of.'"
"I'm sure he'll tell me later," Skye said again distracted as Garrett turned and his muscled chest came into view. The rock-hard abs, his cock already beginning to swell, the muscled legs that Skye already could imagine locked around his body. He felt himself getting flushed and his dragon grew restless.
"So do I get a Christmas Eve fuck? I promise I've been very good... today," Garrett said as he rolled his hips and turned to show off his ass, spreading his legs and bending over just a little.
Skye managed to get the rest of his clothes off and closed the distance, wrapping his body around his mate. "I am the luckiest man in the universe. You are so fucking gorgeous."
"Well, thank you, but we both know I'm luckier since I have you. Does that mean you'll fuck me now?" Garrett squeezed his ass against Skye's cock and rubbed up and down against him.
Skye closed his eyes and enjoyed the tingling heat from Garrett's body and the way the seemed to fit perfectly together. Garrett turned and wrapped his arms around Skye and began running his hands up and down Skye's back.
"Would you mind making love to me, tonight? I want to feel you inside me and be wrapped in your body. I want you to fill me up and take my breath away," Skye said in a soft voice.
"No sane dragon could refuse that offer." Garrett guided Skye to the large bed and pulled back the curtains to help Skye up. He climbed up after him and lay on top of Skye, resting his weight on his knees and elbows as he pressed his body against his mate's - letting their flesh form to each other. Garrett ran his tongue up Skye's neck, around his jawline and then captured his mouth as Garrett's tongue demanded entry.
Skye let out a low moan as Garrett's tongue began exploring his mouth. Skye sucked Garrett's tongue into his mouth savoring the texture and feel before Garrett took back control. His exploration became demanding, and he dove into Skye's mouth claiming him and possessing him totally. Skye could feel his cock leaking and his ass beginning to twitch and ache. The love and desire was radiating off of Garrett like heat from a furnace. Skye again marveled at their bond and how intimate it made their connection.
"You are the most beautiful creature in the universe," Garrett whispered as he kissed up Skye's neck and licked and nibbled at his ear.
Skye's first thought was to argue because obviously Garrett was the most beautiful but then Garrett's mouth closed on his nipple and Skye struggled to think of the words. He let out a low moan as Garrett's hand's caressed down his sides as he worked his oral magic. Everywhere that his mate touched he felt tingling shocks of pleasure. Garrett kissed down Skye's stomach and licked around his cock, teasing his balls and used the flat of his tongue as he lapped at Skye's inner thighs.
Skye spread himself as much as he could, his knees almost lying flat, offering himself up to his mate. He saw Garrett look up at him, his handsome face and dark eyes showing lust and desire. What did I ever do to deserve such a gorgeous man? Skye thought as a smile spread across Garrett's face - he watched Skye intently as he extended his tongue and licked up Skye's shaft. Skye struggled to keep his eyes open and saw the little sparkle and then the glowing flame grow in those eyes. He gasped as Garrett took him into his mouth - the suction and wet heat was intense.
"Mmmm. My very favorite," Garrett whispered as he began taking Skye deeper and deeper into his mouth.
Skye felt his balls tightening and the orgasm starting to build "I'm close..."
Garrett pulled off with a loud plop. "Can't have that. I'm just getting started." He licked Skye's balls and moved to his taint - still watching Skye. He dipped a little lower and teased Skye's puckered hole.
Skye gasped and lifted his hips. "Oh, god..."
"Turn over."
It took a moment for the command to register in Skye's brain, then he turned over and got on his hands and knees, pressing his chest down to the pillows as he lifted his ass and spread his knees farther apart.
"So beautiful," Garrett murmured as he used the flat of his tongue and licked from Skye's taint all the way up his crack to his lower back. He then returned, gripping one of Skye's ass cheeks in each strong hand as he spread Skye open. "Your ass just gets better and better. So full and round - these golden globes fit perfectly in my hands and your hole... fuck. I want you so badly."
Skye squeezed his eyes closed and bit his lip to keep from crying out as Garrett's tongue caused his brain to stop working and his eyes to roll back. No one he'd been with rimmed and ate ass like his mate and to think he might never have known how much he loved it. A loud groan escaped him as Garrett's tongue forced its way inside.
Skye pushed his ass up as he felt Garrett's tongue inside. He was already thinking of how much he wanted his mate's cock inside him. He knew he was relaxed enough and from Garrett's licking, slurping, and sucking, Skye had no doubts that his body was already wet and slick. He'd loved Garrett's skills from the very first, but now with the changes to his body, it was so much more. He may not have gained the flutter, but he did get the nubs and ability to become wet from arousal. His tunnel was so much more sensitive and having Garrett's tongue or his cock inside was just heaven.
Garrett used the flat of his tongue across Skye's opening again and down his taint until he licked his balls then pulled his stiff cock back and into his mouth. "Mmmm. So good."
"Please... please, Garrett. Enough, I need you..." Skye pleaded lifting and flexing his ass.
Garrett kissed and licked up Skye's crack again and then kept going, running his hands and his kisses up Skye's back until he reached his neck. He lifted Skye against him and nibbled at the soft skin on his neck and shoulder before licking along his ear again. "Are you sure you're ready?" Garrett's thumbs teased over Skye's hard nipples, making him squirm.
"Yes," Skye moaned. He felt the heat and firmness of Garrett's large cock sliding up and down his crack, but Garrett held him firmly enough he couldn't move to get it inside. Then the head was at his entrance, and he moaned and squeezed his eyes closed as it slid inside him. His body readily accepted the intrusion, drawing his mate's member deep inside his body. The little nubs let him feel every inch of the thick shaft, the ridge of his glans, even the swollen veins and ridge down the underside. Skye shielded out Garrett's sensations; he wanted to bask in his own feelings of having Garrett inside him, filling him.
"You are perfect. It's like your body was made just to fit me and give me the most pleasure possible," Garrett said into Skye's ear as he bit at Skye's neck and started to thrust slowly and gently.
Skye heard Garrett but was still unable to form words or coherent thoughts. He could feel the large cock deep inside rubbing his prostate with each thrust and massaging his passage. He could feel the building pleasure deep in his core and knew his first anal orgasm was close.
"Let go, baby. Don't fight it. I want you to have several orgasms before I make you blow your load all over us."
Garrett was sliding into him with painfully slow, deep thrusts, keeping the release just out of reach and then it hit, and Skye felt his body squeezing Garrett's cock tightly. Skye whimpered and felt his body shudder as the first wave of pleasure took his breath away.
At first, he'd been surprised when the big, muscle-bound Garrett was so willing to bottom for him, but once he could share Garrett's sensations, he understood. Now he didn't even have to share Garrett's pleasure to know how good it felt. He got his own anal orgasms and easily got a full orgasm and release from being fucked - without ever touching his dick. He still loved topping but no matter who was giving or taking, it was incredible.
"Turn over."
Skye wanted to complain when Garrett pulled out but quickly realized he'd be back inside as soon as Skye was on his back and had his legs spread. And he was. He realized they'd both begun to glow and Garrett's eyes were lit with flames. He leaned up and kissed his mate, savoring the taste of both his mate and the remnants of his own bodily fluids.
Garrett groaned as he slid back into Skye's tight chute. He leaned forward and kissed Skye gently as he bottomed out, his cock as deep as it could go. He ground his hips into Skye as his tongue explored Skye's mouth and ate his moans of pleasure.
Skye reached up and held the back of Garrett's head, adjusting the braid, so it didn't get caught between them. He loved how connected they were, mentally and physically. Garrett felt so good inside him, and he was close to an orgasm as the huge cock beat his prostate into submission. He could feel the tightness in his balls as Garrett's body pressed against him. Skye's cock was slick with his own pre-cum and rubbing against Garrett's body as they moved together.
"Almost there..." Skye gasped into Garrett's mouth.
Hold on, baby. Just a bit longer. Garrett sent as he bit at Skye's bottom lip. His eyes glowing brightly.
Skye whimpered as he tried to hold back but it felt so good, and his body was ready.
Garrett started thrusting harder and deeper, his pace quickened, and his kisses became savage.
Skye cried out, no longer able to hold back as his body began erupting, shooting stream after stream of his seed between their thrusting bodies. He whimpered and squirmed as his anal walls tightened on Garrett and increased the pleasure for both of them. He felt Garrett's cock swelling inside him; he felt the heat and the wetness as Garrett's body started pumping his cream inside Skye's body. Skye gasped as he got a second wave and his cock twitched and spurted sending more seed between their sweat- soaked abs.
Garrett kept kissing and pressed his body against Skye, not withdrawing but slowly rotating his hips grinding his seed deeper into Skye's body. They continued to kiss and hold each other until Garrett slowly withdrew and began licking down Skye's stomach.
When Garrett had licked Skye's cock clean, he moved back up and shared the sweet seed with his mate. They pulled apart, and Skye stared into Garrett's flame filled eyes.
"I love you," Skye whispered.
"I love you more. So... did I take your breath away?"
"Most definitely. Want to do it again?"
Garrett captured Skye's lips and pressed his body against him. "Whenever you'll let me and as many times as you can handle."
Skye rolled Garrett onto his back and straddled him. "I remember a certain dragon complaining about aching balls and that I was killing him."
Garrett lifted his hips, so his cock pressed against Skye's ass. "Yeah, but what a way to go. Sadly, I think you probably need some sleep. It's been a big day."
"Thank you," Skye said as he stretched out next to Garrett.
"I wanted this to be the best Christmas ever."
"How could it not be when I have you? And I think every year is going to get even better. But you're right. We need some sleep." Skye reluctantly moved away from Garrett and headed to the bath. Garrett was quick to follow, and soon they were back in bed, snuggled under the covers.
Skye felt something odd and stilled. He checked the bonds with his wing and felt it again.
"Christos?" Garrett whispered picking up the sense as soon as Skye did.
"Yeah." Skye reached out with his mind and brushed against Christos. He felt the fear and pain - Christos was caught in a nightmare.
"Go get him. Bring our kitten back, and we can snuggle him 'til he's better."
Skye found a robe and made his way down the hall to Christos's room. The door wasn't locked, so Skye moved in and sat beside Christos as he moaned and thrashed - caught in his dreams.
"Shhhhhh. It's okay Chris. I'm here." Skye let his power wrap around Christos and gently pull him from the nightmare as he calmed his were- panther and sent reassurances.
Christos startled and sat up. "Skye?"
"You were having another nightmare. I came to get you."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you."
"Not a bother at all. Garrett and I thought you might sleep better if you joined us."
"I don't want to intrude. I'll be fine."
"You don't want to?" Skye asked.
"That's not it," Christos said with a bashful smile.
"Good. Then let's go. Garrett's waiting. You get to be in the middle."
Skye soon had Christos settled in between himself and Garrett and the rest of the night passed quietly.
Skye woke fairly early and decided to get up and just spend some quiet time staring at the decorations while he waited for everyone else to get up. He thought he'd managed to leave without waking the other two, but as he was beginning his shower, he felt a mental nudge.
Morning beautiful, you've got an audience.
Are you watching me? Skye asked remembering his lovemaking with Garrett from the night before.
Nope, but our little kitten is. Thought you might want to take care of him and start him off on a great Christmas with his new family.
You okay with that? Don't you wanna help?
Send him back to me when you're done. I want to sleep a bit more. Garrett's mind voice and his ideas for Christos sent a wave of heat through Skye.
Skye turned and could just catch a glimpse of Christos. He wasn't exactly hiding, but he wasn't making his presence known. He was carefully positioned to watch Skye's reflection in the mirror. "Wouldn't you rather join me?" Skye asked.
Christos hesitantly stepped into view, his face crimson at being caught. "Didn't want to bother you."
"Good. You're not. So get naked and come wash my back for me." He closed his eyes under the warm stream but could hear Christos's internal dialogue as he undressed and came to join. Skye soon felt Christos's hands tentatively rubbing over his shoulders and his back. "No need to be bashful Chris. I like you touching me."
"You're so handsome and muscled. Maybe not as big as Garrett but, wow."
"You like my ass? Wanna play with it?" Skye teased.
Christos ran his soapy hands over Skye's ass cheeks and down his crack, gently cleaning his crack and teasing his hole. "You're so sexy."
Skye turned and pulled Christos into a kiss. "I want you inside me again, Chris. If you take too long, I may just give up and sit on you and take that pretty dick myself."
Skye felt a wave of heat as he saw the blush and smile on Chris's face. Each day his panther was looking healthier. Chris had put on a little more weight and muscle and didn't look starved anymore. His skin had a nice glow, and his hair was thick and lush, even if it was still on the short side.
"Skye, I... I mean. Would you... would you take me this time?" Chris dropped his voice so low that Skye wasn't sure he'd have heard if he wasn't keeping his mind open to Chris's thoughts.
"Are you sure?"
"I want you inside me, holding me." Chris stiffened his shoulders, and his violet eyes looked directly into Skye's as if challenging him.
"Gladly. I love being with you, Chris." Skye soaped up his hands and began working over Christos's slender body. Exploring every inch as he massaged and washed his were-panther. Chris was aroused and leaking copious amounts of pre-cum as Skye lathered him up. He began massaging and exploring Chris's ass and rinsed him before burying his face in between Chris's cheeks. He licked and sucked and used his tongue to open him up while Chris moaned and spread himself for Skye's attention. Skye reached out with his magic to relax and prepare Chris. It took a little more to get the non-dragons ready.
Skye was able to get enough of his own pre-cum that he soon had Chris open and well-lubed. His fingers were sliding in and out easily. He kissed up Chris's back as he held him in the warm spray of the shower. He pressed his cock into the cleft of Chris's ass as he ran his hands up and down Chris' torso, teasing his nipples while the other hand gently stroked his cock. His magic relaxed Chris's anal muscles and gently massaged his prostate.
"Someone's gotten bigger," Skye said as drew his hand up the length of Chris's shaft.
Chris leaned his head back on Skye's shoulder as he whispered. "Nah, you just get me so hard it feels bigger."
Skye kissed up Chris's neck. "I like getting you hard." He moved into position, so the head of his cock was rubbing against Chris's opening. He made sure Chris's body relaxed and then Chris moved backward, so Skye's hardon slid past the muscle ring.
Chris let out a whimper as he pressed farther back into Skye and took more of Skye into his body. Skye made sure there was no pain, only pleasure and soon they were moving together. Skye reveled in the hot silky glove wrapped around his cock while he stroked, kissed and nibbled on Chris's body. Skye could feel through their bond that Chris was totally attuned to Skye and was already building for a powerful release.
Skye gathered his magic and started pushing it into Chris as he fucked him slowly, making sure it was all about love and pleasure for Chris. Skye enjoyed the feeling of having Chris in his arms, his tight body wrapped around his dick as they made love. Soon Chris was panting, his muscles tense as Skye brought him to the brink and held him there, before finally letting go so that they both orgasmed at the same time and Chris's cock spurted cum over Skye's hand.
"That's it kitten, give me your cream. You are so beautiful."
Chris moaned as his ass tightened and pulsed on Skye, milking out the last few drops.
Skye brought his hand to his mouth and licked off Chris's seed, savoring the sweet musky flavor that was all Chris. When none remained, he pulled out of Chris and turned him into a kiss so that Chris would taste himself on Skye.
"Mmmm. See how good you taste? Merry Christmas Chris."
"So far, the best Christmas ever!" Chris rasped, licking out every corner of Skye's mouth.
"It's going to get better. Garrett wants you to come cuddle."
Chris's eyes went wide and his body stiffened for a moment as Skye began drying him off with one of the big fluffy towels.
"Yeah, I'm serious. Now, go, before Garrett comes in and carries you off."
- Scene 6 *
Skye made his way to the breakfast room enjoying the soft Christmas music playing throughout the grand chalet, and he took his time to appreciate the greenery and decorations as well as the views out the large windows. It was snowing again.
He stepped into the breakfast room and was surprised to see Pater already there, eating breakfast. A second place setting was beside him, a teapot already steeping.
"Good morning, Skye. You're up earlier than I expected."
"Father nearby?" Skye asked with a nod to the other setting.
"No, dear. That's for you. Your favorite tea already started."
"How'd you know I was up?"
"Kwill was through a few minutes ago and told me you were on your way."
Skye paused a moment realizing he wasn't all that upset with Kwill anymore. Garrett was right, Kwill's intervention had made things go much more smoothly.
"You doing well this morning? I already asked for your breakfast. It should be out shortly. I assumed your regular," Argos said.
"Yes, thank you." Skye sat down next to Pater and then leaned over and kissed his cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too, Skye. I hope you've had a good holiday so far."
"The best. I can't thank you enough for bringing Grandma and Grandpa."
The server entered and set a plate in front of Skye with his usual, fried eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. Skye heard his stomach growl and couldn't help but smile. "I'm so glad you have something like bacon, I'd have missed it."
"Many of the foods from the human planets have become common as more and more bond-mates have come to Draga. So... I expect you have questions?"
Skye finished chewing and turned to Pater. "That obvious, huh?"
"I would if I were you."
"Before we talk about that, Christos had another nightmare. Thought you'd want to know."
"Is he doing okay?" Argos asked.
"He seemed better this morning. I'll mention it to Kwill to see if there's anything he can do, unless you'd rather have Tennat..."
"No, no. I think Christos would prefer to deal with Kwill."
"So how did you manage it? I mean, I try to shield around you and Father but I never picked up anything." Skye put the strainer over his cup and poured his tea. He was pleased to have this time with Pater without all the noise and commotion of having everyone around.
"As soon as Garrett confirmed you 'were the one.' I had my agents begin surveillance. We had no reason to suspect a problem, but I'll fully own being a bit paranoid. This time I was right. I also wanted to stay as far removed as possible from what was happening, which also worked out well since at the time we didn't know you'd be a telepath. Somehow Marta got word to her partners, and they were planning to take your grandparents."
"That's when they took them into hiding?"
"As I understand it, yes. I still wasn't involved directly, but I had instructed them if they'd be safer here, then to move them. When we interrogated Marta and Veygat my people got word to their counterparts on Earth, and they decided to move them when the time was right."
"So how did Caladwen..."
Pater held up a hand. "They were long gone, actually I think they were already on Draga. Caladwen's agents were threatening the mimics who took your grandparents' place. My agents were aware of the threat and were monitoring the situation closely. I knew they had been moved and that we had doubles in place but not that they were here. They just briefed me and brought me up to speed when your grandparents were brought out of cryo. Putting them in cryostasis was safer and easier for their bodies to handle. It also gave the opportunity for the medics to resolve some of their health issues. I think you've already seen that our medicine is more advanced and many common ailments are easily remedied."
"So being here for Christmas wasn't your plan?"
"No, as much as I'd love to take credit for the timing, it was simple chance. Though I certainly tried to make the most of it when I found out. We'll take care of them, Skye. We can protect them much better here than we could on Earth. You'll also get to see them more."
"Thank you. What will they do?"
"Let's give them time to adjust and get used to the idea first. Father and I have already told them they can become part of our family or we can set them up with a place of their own. This is a lot for them to absorb."
Skye thought about it a moment and then realized that his grandparents had no trouble understanding the others or communicating. "Did they get implants too?"
"Yes. Very similar to your own. Why?"
"I just realized they understood everyone. So are you okay having them here?"
"Of course. I find them both very companionable and a pleasure to have around. You also need to thank Kwill and Jerrick. They did a remarkable job helping them and explaining what's happened."
"Yeah, I know. I was a little put out with all that Kwill shared, but I guess it worked out for the best."
"He's a smart man, and as far as I've seen, everything he does is what he thinks will be best for you."
Skye felt the others coming before the loud commotion of running feet could be heard. Christos and Rilien burst into the room and immediately ran to Pater throwing their arms around him.
"Merry Christmas, Pater!" they both greeted.
Skye smiled, for both of them this was a new and different experience, and both of them were thrilled to be part of a loving family. River, Nik, and Garrett were right behind and queued up to hug Pater. Before long all the others had joined and it was total chaos.
- Scene 7 *
Skye looked around the grand parlor and snuggled back into Garrett. He felt a little sad the guys couldn't be included in this part of the celebration, but he also understood why. They were his wing but they weren't technically family. Yet, on the plus side, Dillon, Willow, and Rilien were included without question. He reminded himself again that maybe next year Zo could be back with them.
"Now, I know this is new for all of you. We don't do piles and piles of gifts," Pater cautioned.
Skye could still feel the excitement in the room and noticed is grandparents looking on in approval. They practically glowed. Shit, Skye thought as he quickly glanced down at his own hands. A little maybe, but not too bad, Skye let out a breath as he realized he wasn't glowing enough to be noticeable. After all, it had been a very good morning. When he looked up, he saw his grandfather was looking directly at him and giving him a 'knowing' smile. That's when he heard River snickering.
River?
Sorry bro. He noticed at breakfast. You were glowing much brighter then and he asked me what it meant. I told him. Didn't take him long to notice Christos and Garrett glowing too. He said something about you finally listening. River's finding the situation humorous came through very clearly.
Wait, River. Your turn will come.
Pater stood interrupting their mental banter and cleared his throat as he looked at the tags on the gifts.
"Christos, why don't you go first." Pater scooted a large wrapped gift over to where Chris sat on the floor.
Skye noticed that there were a number of almost exactly the same size and shape.
"Go ahead, Chris, open it." Skye encouraged.
Chris gave a big smile then ran over and climbed into Skye's lap, straddling him and Garrett and kissing them both soundly before returning to his gift.
"Someone's happy this morning," Kleitos laughed.
"You should be too!" Willow said with a pointed look.
Kleitos blushed and gave a sly smile. "Yeah, it's been a very good holiday. Thank you, Willow."
Willow gave a very self-satisfied smile before returning his attention to Chris.
Chris opened the package slowly and carefully, much to everyone's impatience. He pulled out what appeared to be a silvery, iridescent helmet and then a heavy, silvery suit. He looked - confused.
Garrett laughed. "No guesses, Chris?"
"Uhm... a space suit?"
"No silly, that's a dragon rider's suit. And if I'm not mistaken, armored and color-keyed to a platinum. Hmmm. Wonder what dragon that could be?" Garrett teased.
"SKYE!" Chris squealed and ran to climb in their laps again. For a practically full-grown adult, it was pretty comical and had everyone laughing.
It hit Skye that Chris and Rilien especially, maybe Willow too, had never had proper childhoods. So he wasn't about to begrudge any of them some unadulterated joy.
"Willow, you're next." Pater moved the next gift in front of him.
He wasted no time and quickly had his box open and was holding up an almost identical dragon rider's suit. "Oooh. We all get to ride Skye."
Skye felt a blush and buried his face in Chris's neck as Garrett rubbed his shoulders. And with Willow, you have no doubt that he meant exactly that, Garrett sent. Chris turned and gave an impish smile, wiggling his ass.
You too? Skye sent.
Yup. I like riding you! Chris's excitement was bubbling over.
River was up next and his eyebrows raised as he noted the size of the box and gave a look to Skye. But when he pulled out a golden helmet with blue-green accents, tears started forming. He looked at Nik and stilled for a moment before Nik came to him and pulled him into a passionate kiss.
"So looks like I'm riding you!" River teased Nik.
"Sometimes. Once you get your dragon form, we'll have to work out a deal."
"Are you saying you want to ride, me, Nikias D'Or Drakken?"
"Oh, definitely. All the time, even."
Skye saw his grandparents share a look and everyone seemed to be enjoying his brother's antics.
Rilien was next with another platinum suit. He looked up to Skye with eyes wide, and he was radiating terror. Skye got out from under Chris and went to hug him, pulling him into his lap. "It's okay Ril. You don't have to ride on a dragon if you don't want to. No one is going to force you or make you feel bad. Honest."
Rilien grabbed Skye and buried his head into Skye's neck. But I want to, I want everything with you - it's just so terrifying.
Skye rubbed his back as he held him and felt Garrett joining in their connection. You'll know when you're ready.
"Thank you, for understanding," Rilien whispered.
It seemed as the gift opening proceeded that there was a common theme. Skye's suit was in gold with cobalt blue trim. Dillon and Garrett also received suits in platinum. Kleitos was the exception and had opened a voucher for the lastest medic upgrade to his bio comm unit. Skye couldn't really get into it, but Kleitos seemed happy.
Skye pulled out a few token gifts. "I'm sorry I didn't have time to do more. This all took me a bit by surprise." He handed the first package to Christos.
"Oh, wow!" Christos opened the drawing tablet and stylus with a broad smile. The second was an old-fashioned sketchbook and pencils.
"Pater and I saw how much you loved your art classes and I bet if you ask, Pater can give you some tips."
"Christos, I can do better than that. I've already arranged for additional classes, and you are welcome to use my studios," Argos said.
Chris ran to Pater and hugged him, thanking him over and over, before doing the same to Skye.
Rilien also got a bio-comm upgrade voucher, but it was designed especially for mages and could catalog and hold spells as well as provide a complete database of magic components and lore. Dillon's voucher was for an upgrade as well so he'd have the same functionality that Braden and Venci did on their units.
"Here Willow," Skye said sliding the heavy box across the floor.
Willow gave a questioning look and began opening the package. When it was open, he pulled out what looked like a dark-speckled gray trowel. He smiled and moved his hand about like he was battling a monster.
"It's carved from cathite. So it's as strong as steel but still stone," Skye explained.
"It feels good, like the earth," Willow said in awe.
"All the tools are cathite so you should be able to use them without any discomfort. And there's another part of the gift, though it's more from Father and Pater."
"We talked to the Palace gardener and have set aside an area of the grounds where you can tend your own garden," Darius said.
"And this," Argos had stepped out of the room and returned with a single potted stem. "It's already taken root. It's your namesake - a Willow. We thought it would be a nice addition to the grounds."
"Thank you!" Willow took the cutting and touched it reverently.
"I'm sorry we don't have gifts for everyone, but we do have something for you, River," Charlie said as Nancy stepped outside and returned with a gift tied in a large bow.
"Fuck! You brought my guitar!" River shouted and picked his way around the boxes and wrapping to give his grandparents a kiss then hugged the guitar to him.
"We knew it was your favorite thing and I just couldn't leave it," Nancy said. "Now, once you get it tuned we expect you to sing for us."
"Wow, thank you so much. But, I'll sing only if Skye joins me."
"Sounds like a plan to me," Garrett said.
"I'm sorry we couldn't bring yours, Skye," Charlie added.
Skye forced a laugh, feeling a bit sad. "Yeah, don't think you'd get it in an overnight bag."
"Well..." Garrett started.
Skye turned to his mate, who was shielding a little too tightly for Skye to pick up on what he was thinking. But he got a little of the emotion. "What?"
"It's sort of a substitute, and I'm sorry I couldn't wrap it or bring it here for you to see Christmas morning..."
"Yeah..."
"Your other gift from me is at the Royal Palace. Our agents gave me a ton of grief because I guess it wasn't so easy getting it to Draga."
"Just spit it out, Garrett."
"I believe they called it a Steinway Concert Grand."
"Oh, my god! For me?"
"No, for me, dumb-ass, 'cause of course I know how to play," Garrett retorted.
"I tried Skye, we encouraged all the boys to try music, but none took to instruments. Though Garrett does have a beautiful singing voice. He can join you and River." Pater gave a smug look at Garrett's reaction.
"You have pianos on Draga?" Skye asked in disbelief.
"Yes, but they're a little different, and I thought you'd prefer one from Earth. I considered taking the one from your grandparent's home, but it might have raised suspicions. Hope you don't mind the substitute."
"Oh, I think he's fine," Nancy interrupted. "A concert grand versus my old Baldwin Studio. Yeah, he'll get over it."
Skye laughed and hugged Garrett again.
"Would you boys mind cleaning up and putting things away while I check on brunch?" Argos asked.
"Sure," several said in unison.
Skye was gathering wrapping paper as he saw his grandfather kneel down beside Rilien, helping him get the suit and helmet back in the box. Skye was close enough to hear.
"You know, Rilien. We always told Skye and River that when you've got a big thing to accomplish, it works best if you break it down and start with small steps. So maybe, trying on the suit, or just sitting in the saddle?"
"Maybe," Rilien said in a soft voice.
"Hey, that game River got this morning. He said it was a virtual reality simulation. Do you think they have one that includes riding a dragon?"
"I'm sure they do," River yelled from the other side of the room.
"Well, there ya go. Would it be so scary if you were sitting nice and safe in your room when you took your first ride on a dragon?"
"I could do that," Rilien said with a smile.
"And don't know what you think, but seems to me my Skye thinks an awful lot of you. Can't rightly imagine him letting you get hurt or doing anything that would make you uncomfortable."
Rilien looked up at Skye and blushed. "Nah. He wouldn't; he cares about me."
"Sure he does. So maybe if you take it slow..."
Rilien wrapped his arms around Charlie's neck and pulled him tight. "Thanks, Mr. Eklund."
"Grandpa. No more of this 'Mr. Eklund' stuff."
Skye smiled and continued cleaning up the mess they'd made. He liked being useful and appreciated that when it was the family, neither Pater nor Father insisted on having the servants do stuff like this.
"You know, Skye. I'm not sure if I'd seen you on the streets I would have recognized you." Nancy handed Skye some crumpled paper to put with what he'd gathered."
"I look that different?"
"It's not so much the looks as the way you carry yourself now. Granted, you're bigger, with more muscles than I ever thought I'd see on you. Grandpa was right when he said you looked like a jock, but you have so much more confidence. You stand taller. You move differently."
"They put River and me through a lot of self-defense training and then we started actual hand-to-hand combat training. I guess that's what you're seeing."
"And you're happier and more confident."
"Yeah, I guess I am. I think it's been good for River too. He's not quite as rebellious."
"The right person can ground you," Nancy said with a knowing look. "I think Nik does that for River. But in your case, I get the sense that you're the one grounding Garrett."
"You've been talking to Pater," Skye laughed.
"Yes, I have. And you can't know what it does for my heart seeing how he cares for you two. So does Darius but I guess, like you said, Darius and I have some similar ideas."
"I knew it would be dangerous for River and me if you two ever got together."
"They've both been extremely welcoming. Your grandpa told me he talked to you."
"Yeah, so you're really okay with us being with guys and the whole dragon concept of how things work?"
"I'll grant you that I have a lot of adjustments to make and some of it is tough to accept. But your sexuality, your husband, and the open views on sex aren't even on the list. My goodness, Skye. I'm on another planet! Dragons are real. Nymphs are real. Elves are real. Folks can cross the vast expanse of space and have technology beyond my imagination."
"So did Grandpa tell you he told me about before you two were together?"
"We never told you and River how we met?"
"Yeah, you did. You said Grandpa was best friends with your older brother, Uncle Gary."
"Oh, he was. But 'best friends' may not be the best way to put it. They were lovers. I had a crush on your Grandpa from the time I first met him. Then when he came home from Vietnam and Gary didn't, I was there to help him pick up the pieces. When Gary was killed, we just sort of clung to each other and well... one thing led to another."
"And you made it work?"
"Sure. There were rough times too, but we've always been totally honest with each other and shared everything. No secrets and flexibility are key."
"I'll try to remember that. With dragon bond-mates, there can't be secrets. Even if one of us tries to shield, the other will pick it up later. We're connected, good or bad."
The way it should be! Garrett's mental voice rang out in Skye's mind. Love you, babe.
Skye smiled and laughed out loud. "Sorry Grandma, Garrett just reminded me that's the way it should be."
"He's right. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to this brunch. Your grandfather and I are so excited to see real dragons later. Maybe someday, I'll even get up the nerve to ask for a ride as well."
Skye couldn't help but blush as he heard Garrett's mental laughter.
- Scene 8 *
"Well, look at you!" Skye said admiring Rilien as he walked into the barn.
"Geez, Ril. You look like an anime star." River said as he looked over from helping Christos with his helmet.
Rilien had made a huge first step. He'd tried on the dragon riding suit and came out to the barn, helmet in hand. With his slender elvish build, blond hair, and pointed ears, Skye agreed he was a pretty picture. All of the guys looked good. The suits seemed to have the padding in all the right places so what River called the "Batman" effect, sans fake nipples.
"It does feel sort of nice," Rilien admitted.
"Well, you tell us when you want to try sitting in the saddle. We won't bug you, I promise. Christos is going to ride on Garrett and Dillon is going to ride on Kleitos." Skye put a hand on Rilien's shoulder and gave him an encouraging smile.
"Okay. I'll just watch. You're not going to change?" Rilien asked.
"After they're all set. Grandma and Grandpa want to see what I look like as a dragon."
"You mind if I watch?" Chaz asked as Skye and Corbin helped get Christos fastened in.
"Not at all. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get you a suit too." Skye pulled the last strap tight and pointed it out to Corbin so he could double check it was secure.
"I don't know, sir. I think I'm with Rilien. Not sure that were-daggers were meant to fly." Chaz said frowning.
"Oh, I bet you'll change your mind once Skye's good at taking passengers. I know I'd love the chance." Corbin bumped fists with Christos giving him the all clear.
Garrett snorted and started ambling toward the door. Watch it, Skye. I might just get jealous, everyone going on about getting to ride you.
Nothing to be jealous of Garrett. You are always first, and I think it would be good to make sure any of our non-dragons are outfitted. That way if we ever needed to take to the air, they wouldn't be left behind.
Okay. Point made. Garrett's mind-voice sounded the same regardless of his form.
"I'm still in awe. A real, honest to goodness dragon," Nancy said from behind Skye as she watched Garrett leave the barn.
"Scarier and bigger than you even imagined, right, Grandma?" River asked.
"Yeah. Somehow I feel very vulnerable and edible," Charlie laughed.
"Good with ketchup," Skye added.
"Thanks, son, that didn't help," Charlie said.
"So, dear. Is your dragon as big as Garrett?" Nancy asked.
"No, gran. He's even bigger!" River said.
"And more beautiful," Chaz whispered.
"You ready Skye? I'll wait to shift until after you're out with the others. It's a clear sunny afternoon, so they should be able to watch us much better than they could the other day." Corbin came over to help Skye with his clothes.
"Sorry, Grandma, Grandpa. You may want to look the other way unless you want to see me naked."
"Oh, Skye. I've seen your bits since you were in diapers! I think I can manage."
"They are really nice bits," Chaz muttered.
Skye had no trouble hearing Chaz and blushed. He turned and gave him a smile. "Thank you, Chaz but you appreciating my junk and showing it off to my grandparents are very different."
"I could stand behind you..." Chaz offered.
"Yeah, that would be good."
"Though I can't control what I might be thinking..." Chaz teased.
Skye finished getting undressed and heard an intake of breath. He steeled himself as he also picked up on Chaz's thoughts and lust. His guard really, really wanted to reach out and grab his ass and bury his face in Skye's crack. Skye rather liked the thought and was equally glad he was facing away from the observers.
The shift was effortless, and soon he was looking down at everyone and stretching out his wings a little.
"Well, Shit!" Charlie exclaimed.
Nancy put her hands to her mouth and let out a little gasp.
"It's still me, honest." Skye's dragon voice rumbled and echoed in the barn.
Rilien ran up and wrapped his arms around Skye's foreleg. "Someday, Skye I won't be so scared. You are beautiful."
"Love you Ril." Skye's voice made the whole barn vibrate as it dropped even lower when he tried not to scare Rilien.
"Pretty awesome dude," River called but his voice sounded forced.
You okay River?
Yeah, I'm fine. Now get out there and make sure they get their ride.
Skye exited the barn, and soon they were soaring above the mountain. The winds weren't nearly as strong today, and visibility was much better. Christos and Dillon were having a great time.
SKYE. Skye turned his head and checked his connections to his bonded.
Skye. There it was, but it was both Chaz and Rilien reaching out to him, and something wasn't right with River. He called back to both.
What? Is something wrong?
Skye, it's River. He's acting strangely. He can't seem to stand up, and he doesn't look so good. Rilien was clear in his sending, but it was tinged with worry.
Chaz, send my grandparents in to get Darius and Argos.
Skye reached out to the others flying. We need to return. River's not well.
Probably too much brunch, Garrett sent back.
When they landed and returned to the barn to get dressed. River was seated on the ground looking very pale.
"Skye, this is how Nik looked before he shifted," Willow said giving Skye a concerned glance.
"I think I'm going to be sick," River rasped grabbing his stomach.
"Nik, Willow, help me get him undressed and grab some blankets from the shelf. River, deep breaths, slowly, in and out." Skye quickly began helping River out of the dragon flight suit. Willow opened the blankets and wrapped them around a shaking River.
"It's okay River; I'm with you. If it's the change, don't fight it. Just take regular breaths. Skye, can you help him?" Nik said.
Skye looked at Nik in confusion and then scolded himself. "Sure Nik. Everyone else, you may want to step back. No idea how much space he'll need."
"Skye... I feel awful." River moaned.
Skye reached out with his magic sight and knew in seconds what was happening. He could feel the power building and see River's dragon pushing and prodding to make the change happen. Skye gathered his magic and gently fed it into River. "He's shifting."
River's body began to shake harder, and Willow and Nik stepped back. Just then Nancy and Charlie returned with Darius and Pater and stood in the doorway and watched as River's body began to blur.
It only lasted moments, but to Skye and River, it felt much longer. Then there were numerous gasps and shouts as River completed his transformation.
Skye immediately moved up and rubbed River's flank until he lowered his head so Skye could rub along his brows and huge jaws.
"It's okay River, just relax. Keep breathing everything will be fine."
Nik was right behind Skye and took up position on the other side, kissing and rubbing his mate. "Father Dragon, River. You are stunning, not to mention huge."
"As big as Skye?" River startled himself with the deep sound of his own dragon voice, but Nik and Skye quickly had him calm again.
"Bigger, bro. Definitely bigger," Skye said.
"And scarier too," Willow added.
River's eyes turned to Willow and one of his large horned brows raised.
"Well, he is," Willow said as if he was being doubted.
"I'm going to check you over, okay River?"
Sure, I'm so tired and so hungry Skye.
We'll get you food and yeah, that's how I felt the first few times too.
Skye ran his hands over the beautiful silvery, iridescent scales. He wasn't as familiar with what his own dragon form looked like as he was with Garrett's, but from what he knew there were differences. River had sharp spine plates that ran down his back all the way to the tip of his tale. The end of his tale had additional spikes that looked deadly, and each of his legs had a ridge of spikes as well. On his head were two wicked looking horns. River's eyes were ice blue and glowing brightly.
Now that the change was complete the others gathered around and took in the magnificent dragon.
"Very impressive River. Until you, Skye was the largest dragon I'd ever seen," Darius said in awe.
"He's got more protective plates and barbs than even the blacks," Argos said as he examined the deadly looking tail.
"Sure wouldn't want to mess with him," Garrett said.
"You feel any better, River?" Skye asked.
Yeah. Like I said, just hungry and tired. Don't feel sick anymore.
Skye repeated River's reply to the others. "... I remember it being uncomfortable to talk after the shift."
"Sort of like gargling with gravel," Nik said as he stayed close, rubbing River's brow ridge. "You'll start hearing the other voice in your head if you haven't already. Don't freak, okay?"
"Oh, I hear him..." River's glowing eyes focused on Skye, and he let out a low rumbling growl as he finished speaking.
