It was a calm and quiet summer evening on the ocean, accompanied by a warm gentle breeze. The silence was soon interrupted by a 78-foot luxury motor yacht, on a late evening cocktail cruise.

Brook stood on the stern of the boat, watching the young woman in the sequin ruffle gown. She had all the elegance and grace of a super model. Beautiful long blonde hair, blue eyes and picture perfect smile. She was Paige Hollingsworth, a well known socialite who traveled in prominent circles.

Brook glanced at her watch, it was 2:18 in the morning. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion. Paige was ejected from the boat, landing face down in the dark ocean. Brook quickly jumped in behind her, rolling her over and holding her head up.

Brook grabbed a section of the wooden hull that had been blown free from the boat. She rolled the unconscious Paige on top the planks. Suddenly, a second explosion and Brook saw the boat quickly disappear.

It was close to sunrise when Paige finally woke up. "What happened? Where am I? I'm so wet and cold. What's happened?"

Brook was in the water next to the wooden planks. "The boat blew up. You got blown into the water."

Paige stared at her. "Where are we?"

"I have no idea, but I see the outline of an island over there. Maybe we can get some help there."

Brook held tightly to the planks, and began paddling with her legs toward the island.

Brook stood up, The water was only waist deep. Paige and Brook wadded onto the beach. They plopped down at the base of a large palm tree. Paige turned. "Did anyone else live?"

Brook shook her head. "Don't know. We have to wait and see what the current washes up."

Brook stood up. "I'm going to walk down the beach. See if I find anything. You stay here."

Paige stared at her. "Suppose I don't want to stay here?"

"Then get off your butt and come with me."

Paige stared at Brook. "You're an extremely rude person."

Brook turned. "Thanks, I didn't think you noticed."

They walked for almost an hour, before Paige plopped down in the sand. "I can't walk anymore. I need to rest."

Brook knelt down beside her. "We need to find some fresh water."

Paige held her hand out. "I'm Paige Hollingsworth, of the Southampton Hollingsworth."

Brook shook her hand. "I'm Brook Miller, of the Flatbush Millers."

Paige nodded. "I detected there was a slight Brooklyn accent."

Brook pointed. "There's plenty of coconut trees here. Coconut milk will keep us hydrated, until we find fresh water."

"How do get the coconuts down?"

"I climb the tree, pull them off, and they fall to the ground."

Paige was wide eyed. "What happens if you fall and kill yourself? I would be alone on this island."

Brook rubbed her forehead. "That would be so selfish of me, how stupid. I don't know what could have come over me."

Paige narrowed her eyes. "I know you're being facetious, and it's not funny!"

Paige's eyes filled with tears. "I don't want to die on this island. I would die here alone."

Brook wrapped her arms around Paige and let her cry herself out.

Paige wiped her eyes. "I never thanked you for saving my life."

Brook didn't want to let Paige go, she felt so warm and soft. "Forget it."

Paige pulled away. "I'm sorry. I know we need water to survive."

Brook pointed. "See that palm tree way down the beach? It's bent way over from the wind? That'll be easy to climb."

Paige thought it was strange Brook just happened to hand a knife, but she didn't say anything. They drank the from the coconuts and ate the coconut meat inside. It was not the best lunch they ever had, but it quenched their hunger and their thirst. Brook pointed down the beach. "See all that trash washed up on shore?"

"Yes, I have noticed that."

"We need to start searching through it for and metal or aluminum. Sometimes it tangles up with the plastic or the nets, and it doesn't sink."

Paige started at Brook. "You don't expect me to touch that trash, do you?"

Brook rubbed her forehead. "Did your parents ever spank you?"

Paige quickly turned. "They most certainly did NOT!"

Brook stood up, shaking her head. "Well, they should have. Might have put some common sense in you."

Paige and Brook made their way down the beach, scanning the trash for anything usable.

Luckily, they found an aluminum pot that was entangled in some plastic and old nets. Later that afternoon, they found a lid off a 55 gallon barrel, entangled with rope and some old buoys. Brook was happy, they had a grill to cook on and a pot to boil the two crabs she caught. They also found an old tarp among some driftwood.

"This will mage a perfect cover for a lean-to. I'll make one out of the driftwood."

Brook pointed. "These islands get a lot of rain. We'll probably fine some rainwater coming down from that hill over there."

They made their way inland until they found a stream of water leading down to the ocean. Brook filled the pot she had.

A small argument ensued, after Paige refused to eat anything cooked in trash. Paige walked away and sat under a palm tree. Brook walked up to her. "Listen to me, Paige. I'm not going to say this again. I didn't save your shinny little ass from drowning, so you can throw a hissy fit over what you will and will not eat!"

Brook took a plastic tube from her pants pocket, it contained a few dozen matches. She cleared a space in the sand and filled it with old dried drift wood. She used some old rope twine to get the fire started.

"We'll keep this fire going as long as we can. Somebody might see the smoke."

Brook had caught two crabs, which she dropped unto the boiling water. It was not long before they were cooked. Brook took the crabs from the pot and placed them on the steel lid.

She used her knife to smash the shells. Paige quietly knelt down by the lid. "I want you to know, that I would die if you were not here. I do appreciate everything you're doing."

Brook munched on crab leg meat. "You can be annoying at times, but I still like you."

Staring out over the ocean, at the setting sun. Paige took a deep breath. "I never noticed how beautiful the colors of the day were. Sitting here, I can see the blues, reds, oranges, yellows and even some purples."

Brook finished securing the tarp over the driftwood poles "The colors have always been there. You just never took the time to enjoy them."

Brook laid some wide green leaves on the ground under the lean-to. "If we huddle up together, we can keep each other warm. Don't worry, I'm not going to touch you inappropriately."

Brook crawled under the shelter. "I'm not worried about that. I'm more worried some dangerous creatures might come in here at night."

Brook rolled over on her side. "Maybe the Muan."

Paige raised up. "What is that?"

"They're about three feet tall, hairy, big red eyes and hunch-backed. If you see any, wake me."

"If I see anything like that, you'll be here by yourself!"

Brook laughed out loud. "I'm just messing with you. Go to sleep."

The next morning brought a drizzling rain over the island, Brook and Paige huddled together under the make shift shelter. Paige smiled. "You did an excellent job, this shelter is keeping us dry."

Brook smiled back. "Survival skills."

"Where did you learn them?"

"I was a helicopter pilot in the Army for 8 years. All pilots go through survival training. Never know when you might get shot down."

Paige raised up. "Really? A pilot? You're so young."

Brook chuckled. "I was 23 when I went in. Now, I'm getting older every day. I bet you're about 22."

Paige laughed. "No, I'm 24, going on 25. I have a birthday in two months. Thanks to you, I might live to enjoy it."

Brook leaned back. "My grandpa was a captain and a Huey pilot in Vietnam. He taught me everything about flying a helicopter. Everything about aerodynamics and flight. Instrument readings, takeoffs and landings."

Paige smiled. "Sound like you picked a great man to look up to."

Brook continued. "I was going to be an Army helicopter pilot like my grandpa. That was my only goal in life. I didn't care what anyone told me, I wanted my grandpa to be proud of me."

"Is he still alive?"

Brook shook her head. "No."

Without warning, Paige wrapped her arms around Brook and kissed her squarely on the lips. Brook pulled back. "What the hell did you do that for?"

Paige turned away. "I don't know. Maybe, because you saved my life. Maybe, because I admire you so much. Maybe, because I'm falling in love with you."

Brook's eyes opened wide. "You caught me off guard with that one, Paige."

Paige wrapped her arms around Brook and kissed her again. "I know you're a lesbian. I am too. I have been all my life."

Brook pulled back. "I find that a little hard to believe. Women who look like you are always married to some handsome, filthy rich guy."

Paige smiled. "I've had affairs with girls all through boarding school. But, that's all it was, girls playing with girls. Who wants to be seen with me, and who do I want to be seen with. It was all about boosting your social standing. It's not like that with you."

Brook smiled. "Yeah, I think you're fantasizing a little here. When this is all over, you'll go back to your high society and forget we ever existed."

Paige continued. "No, you are so different. You turn everything upside down in me. Before I realized it, I was already in love with you."

Paige removed her dress and held out her arms. "Lay with me Brook, please. I don't want to annoy you, I want to love you, and I want you to love me."

Paige was not ready. She learned Brook was no girl, she was all woman. Strong, powerful, but soft and gentle with her touch. She moved so easy, taking control over Paige. She knew how to make Paige scream louder than she ever had before.

Paige patiently waited, until Brook relaxed and allowed her to take control. Paige worked and worked, until she finally made Brook scream at the top of her lungs. Both bodies lay ravished, cuddling in each others arms for the longest time.

Paige rolled over. "I want to go for a swim in the nude."

Brook smiled. "You've taken a lot out of me, Paige."

Paige rubbed her hands over her butt. "You think my ass is skinny?"

Brook chuckled. "You think you can beat me in a race to the water?"

Paige laughed. "Of course not!"

"Even If I let you win?"

Paige giggled and took off running for the ocean, with Brook close behind her. Brook shouting, "I'm going to tickle you until your pee all over yourself."

Paige ran into the ocean, screaming and flapping her arms in the air. "NO! Don't you DARE!"

Brook grabbed Paige by her narrow waist and spun her around. Paige quickly wrapped her arms around Brook and gave her a big kiss. "Why do you look at me like that?"

Brook returned the kiss. "Maybe, I see a little girl in there, trying her damndest to get free."

Paige kissed her again. "I would let go of her for you."

Brook pulled away and walked back to the shelter.

Paige quickly followed behind. "Brook? I'm sorry, did I say something wrong?"

Brook turned. "When they finally come and rescue us, the jobs over. You go back to your life style, and I go back to mine."

Paige grabbed her dress and held it up to her naked breast. "What do you mean the job is over?"

Brook got dressed. "Your father, Ben Hollingsworth, hired me to keep an eye on you. He didn't like the people you were hanging around. He believed they were dangerous. So, he hired me to protect you."

Paige slipped her dress on. "Why didn't you tell me this earlier?"

"You were alive, you were safe, and there was no need to."

Paige stared at her. "So, making love to me was nothing more that a job? How much did father pay you for that? Was I worth it?"

"He paid me to keep you safe. You think about this! A 78-foot motor yacht just doesn't blow up for no reason. Especially a new one. Somebody on that boat was never suppose to get off."

Brook tucked her knife in her pocket. "Two charges, one on the hull and one on the stern. You got blown into the water from the hull charge. I really thought you were dead. I jumped in after you. I rolled you over, and you had a pulse. I got you onto some blast debris, then the second charge went off."

Paige's face lost all expression. "You think they wanted to kill me?"

"No. If you were the mark, they would've made sure you went down with the boat. Somebody probably warned your father about your jet-set friends. Probably not as clean as they looked"

Paige stared at Brook. "How did my father find you?"

"I work part time, for a large security firm. Your father insisted on ex-military and a woman."

Brook threw up her hands. "And here I am. My objective was to keep you alive, and you are damn well alive!"

Page folded her arms and looked away. "I'm more than that, I'm a pay check to you!"

Brook grabbed her by the shoulders, Paige tried to pull back. "Don't touch me!"

Brook shook her hard a few times. "Shut up and listen to me. I know when this is over, you'll go back to running in big social circles, telling everyone what and ordeal you had to endure. Your rich friends will foam at the mouth to hear more about the Paige Hollingsworth adventures."

Brook let go of her, pointing a finger at her. "I don't mean anything to you. Just another hired worker. You expect me to fall in love with you? So, you can walk away and tear my guts out? I'm never ever, going to let that happen again."

It was the first time Paige saw tears form in Brook's eyes. Suddenly, Brook ran out of the shelter. "Chopper! I hear a chopper!"

Paige and Brook ran out onto the beach, waving their arms and screaming. A search and rescue helicopter was heading their way. Paige grabbed Brook and danced up and down. Paige grabbed hold Brook and gave her the biggest tongue kiss she could. She knew it would be the last memory of their time together.

Paige stood in her father's large office, staring out the window at the city skyscrapers. Her father walked up to her. "I was talking to some of your girlfriends. They said you were not interested in them. You want to tell me what happened on that island?"

Paige turned. "That's right. Not interested, so leave it alone."

Her father stepped away. "One of these days you'll have to tell me what changed you out there."

Paige turned back to look at the skyline. She saw a corporate helicopter, flying high above the buildings.

She closed her eyes and began to dream it was Brook. She would land on the roof; she would snatch Paige up in her arms, and take her to the helicopter. Brook would fly her to that place, where she could enjoy all the colors of the day once again.

END.
