Chapter 4 – Best Laid Plans
I had a dark cloud follerin' me the next fortnight. Seems that after samplin' my goods, ole Henry had took a likin' to me way more `n I figured; it'd led to harsh words `tween him and Pan. By the fire every night, he tried to convince me of the reasons I didn't need to be a messin' with no boy when a real man was at my beck and call. Truth be told, I was downright conflicted. On the one hand me and Pan had been travelin' together for a good while and I damn sure loved the boy. Pan was young and limber and always ready for another adventure. On the other hand, I was mightily attracted to Henry; he was every inch a man's man. Henry was half a head taller `n me with a wide chest covered in enough fur to make a bear blush. When he was plowin' me with them fat eight inches I could run my hands in that pelt on his back and his long hair come down like curtains `round my face, and lord amighty, the way that man smelt... I set my mind to put both of `em off for a few days whilst I give it some serious thinkin'. Ain't neither one of `em come right out `n tried to make me choose, but I had a feelin' it was a comin'. My eyes set on the leather ring on my finger and I thought about what Pan told me. I reckon I was his `fy ancee' as he called it, but my heartstrings was wanderin'. Much as a fit I thought I had with Pan, this French feller had me by the soul.
The more I studied on what Henry said, the more it made sense. Pan was a young'un and he'd get tired of me in a few years; me and Henry was more matched in age. Henry told me that I probably was feelin' love like a daddy for his boy more'n romantic love `n I suspected he might be onto somethin'. I made a point of studyin' what my actual feelins was fer both of `em.
I spent one whole day kindly ignorin' Henry and payin' mind to Pan, then then opposite. Pan was a good boy. He was honest and generous and he did everthing I told him to. That's when it begun to hit me, he was more like a son. He was more `r less jest doin' what I'd taught `im since his folks died; I was like a new daddy to `im `ceptin' for the rutting. He clung to me like he was afeared to let go.
The day I spent with Henry wasn't as smooth. Jess like me, Henry was kindly cantankerous. When I'd say let's go this way, he'd say naw, we need to go this way. We quarreled `bout what and when to eat, the best spot to cross a creek, where to set up camp, jess about anythin. But in the midst of it all he was always listenin', always touchin' on me, and whenever Pan warnt lookin' he was kissin' me. More'n anythin' we felt like equals.
Well, sir, all the while I was performin' my study, it never dawned on me that we had come into Montana. `Bout a day in, Henry noted we was bein' shaddad. You could jess see `em in the distance, two `r three young injun boys. It was clear they was trailin' us fer some reason. After a couple a days of bein' on alert, Henry decided to call `em out. They was wary but they came in close to the fire and took a squat. Henry and me couldn't talk much injun and them boys didn't seem to know much English. Pan tried to talk Ute to `em, they looked like they got a few of the words but mostly it was hand gestures and such we all understood. From what we could figure, they was thinkin' me and Henry had stole Pan from his tribe and they was lookin' to barter for him. The one in the middle had purty eyes with big ole eyelashes and called hisself Sahale; he had a fair clear lust for our Pansook. More'n once the end of his injun cock slipped out the side of his loincloth. They seemed to want Pan to go off with them and see something. He looked at me with askin' eyes and I told him "you don't belong to me, you don't have to ask my permission." He went off and stayed the night.
Next mornin' things was different `tween me and Pan. He were back by my side but his eyes kept dartin' out toward the forest; he looked sommat like a caged animal. It was the middle of the day or so afore I noted that he'd lost that leather ring on his finger. I asked `im about it and he got all stupid acting. He said he didn't know whereabout he lost it or when. Right after we was done eatin' our noon meal, them three injun boys showed up again. I saw Pan's eyes light up like a lighthouse. I made my ahem noise and asked if I could talk to him fer a minute alone.
"Pan, I kin tell you like them boys somethin' fierce" I said.
"Kinda" he said, with his head hung down.
"Look, pardner, I know we said some things back on the trail and such, but I'm willin' to break it off if'n its what you want" I told him.
"It ain't you" he said with them hang dog eyes, "I think my ole fickle heart has caught on to Sahale. I reckon I'm a bad person."
"Well, buddy, if'n you are, I am too. Maybe we wadn't meant to be. My affections are pullin' me toward Henry" I replied.
He looked almost as if a weight had been took off'n him.
"Cody, I cain't lie to you. I give my ring to Sahale last night" he said with a tear startin' to run down his cheek.
I pulled mine off and handed it to `im and told him to put it on so's they'd have a matchin' set.
"I still love you, Pan. It's just more like a daddy loves his son" I told him.
"I love you too, Cody. I hope our paths cross agin" he replied.
Weren't no more said `tween the two of us. Pan walked back to the boys and they helped `im get his gear and all four took off. I didn't see no more of Pan for a long time after that. I was kinda tore up for a couple days, but Henry helped me through it. We spent them long nights of fall naked and wrapped up in blankets sharin' our body heat. Most nights I was sharin' my butt too but I didn't mind.
We went plum on outta Montana when it was all said and done. Henry wanted to go back north, his brother what he called Jill Bear and him had a cabin built up in Canada and he wanted me to meet his family since we was a thing now. Knowin' how he couldn't speak good English I follered a hunch `n asked him to write out his brother's name and like I `spected he was sayin' it wrong. The feller's right name was Gilbert. Time we got up to that there cabin, it was snow on the ground `n I was colder than I ever been. Henry said we'd have to make me one of them trapper suits like that'n he had `n I warn't arguin'.
Gilbert was more'n happy to see Henry comin'. He run out in the snow and picked `im up in a big ole bear hug, then they kissed each other on the cheeks. I tell ya, I ain't seen nothin' like that. Back on the cattle drive that'd got a feller knocked out. Anyways, they commenced to jabberin' in that French talk. I couldn't make heads nor tails out'n it, but Henry said sommat to Gil (I'd made my mind to call him Gil) and he come over `n bearhugged me and went to doin' that cheek kissin' stuff till I pushed `im away. Comin' on to me right in front of my man like that; the feller had no shame.
`fore it got dark we put the animals up in the little barn he had, and brought all our provisions into the cabin. That's `bout the time I seen there warn't but one bed in the place. Mind you, it was a bigger bed than any I'd saw, but then we was full growed men; specially Henry and Gil who was both bigger'n me. Gil busied hisself stokin' a fire while Henry commenced to gettin' ready fer bed. I was counfounded when I seen him shuckin' all his clothes off `fore he crawled bare-ass nekkid up in that bed. He turnt and looked at me `n asked what I was waitin' on. Well, soon as I looked back toward the fire, I seed that ole Gil was standin' there in his birthday suit jess like his younger brother. Whereas Henry's bear suit was kindly reddish, Gilbert's was like spun gold `n to be honest there might a been more on him than Henry had. I didn't see no sense in puttin' it off no more, so I went on and shucked my things too. Henry pulled the covers back and patted the bed between him and Gil and I had to climb over `im to get in there; draggin' my peter acrost his stomach as I settled in.
Henry pulled them covers up around us and I dipped my head under `em for a minute. The smell of them two Frenchmen was makin' me feel tipsy as a jug of corn likker. They was more'n a little risin' in the cover right below my waist level. Henry pulled me to him and wrapped his long arm around me kinda protective like. I could feel his ole thang agin my crack, but it warn't hard. I pushed back into `im and shortly we was asleep. Funny thang happened durin' the night; I woke up and was turnt on my other side and felt that bump was still in my crack but somewhat warn't right, `cause in the firelight I could tell I was looking at Henry. That meant that ole Gil was the one nestin' with me now. I lay there and studied the situation fer a minute, then set my mind to do some exploratory. I let my arm behind me and made my way down till I got hold of ole Gil's peter. It felt like it was about the same as Henry's. I throwed a few strokes on it and it commenced to growin', I think Gil had Henry beat a little. Somethin' come over me and I took that big ole peter and pointed it at my shithole and started a tryin' to get it in me but Gil woke up and pullt it away, shakin' his head at me. He turnt hisself over and pointed his muscley ass toward me and motioned fer me to throw the meat to him. Well, I warn't real sure `bout it, but I hunted that hole down and set my peter head at the entrance and damned if he didn't push back and swaller my whole dick with that hairy French asshole.
`Bout this time Henry woke up from all our movin' around `n next thing I knowed his peter was headed into my back door. We had us a regular sammich goin' on. I had tightened up a little `n stayed real still whilst Henry was makin' his entrance, but old Gil just kep' movin' hisself to and fro on my dick in the front and Henry was settin' up to match his pace in my rear; I couldn't do nothin' but lay there `n moan like a ghost. Gil set in to floggin' on hisself while he rode me which was makin' his hole clamp down on my peter ever few seconds; damn, that felt mighty good; so, I tried doing my butthole like that on ole Henry. Ever time he went to pull out I squoze on `im and it didn't take long till I heered `im start to grunt and groan so's I knowed I had `im close.
A minute or two later ole Gil grabbed a crusty cloth off'n the table by the bed and blasted him a load on it and his ass went to clampin' like crazy. All that caused me to go off up in his hole and fill him up. The squeezin' and floppin' around I was doin' made Henry slam his ole goober all the way up in me and I could feel when it commenced to throbbin' like it was about explode. `The time we disconnected, I was wore out and I `member lookin' at the fireplace for a few seconds before I was gone fer the night.
I woke up in the mornin' with one big ole redhaired arm run acrost my chest and another'n with gold hair flopped acrost my stomach and both them fellers heads on my shoulders on either side. The only thing I knowed was that I had ta piss like an Arkansas mule, so I commenced to tryin' to untangle myself from love nest and once't I was free I near run out on the porch to let her fly. I was standin' there shakin' `n drawin' a yeller line in that snow when the others come out beside me an' made a couple more of them lines. I went back in and throwed some more wood on the fire `n got on some clothes. We got us somethin' to eat `n set out to check traps `n such.
Henry `n Gil was jabberin' in that French speak to each other fer a while and evenchully Henry took up normal English agin and told me was was gonna be movin' on in a day or two. Gil's partner was due back and we'd be goin' to another trappin' cabin he had at the head of the valley `bout two mile up the trail. He warnt sure what shape it was in seein' as he hain't been there in a handful of months so I was to be ready to help with some repairs. We helped Gil with his traps and cuttin' wood `n such, in return he set us up with some meat and salt `n sugar; stuff we'd need to get us through fer a bit. Next mornin' we left to see what we was gettin' into on the other cabin.
What with the snow `n all it took us dang near two hours to go that two miles. When we got there, first thing we had to do was dig the door out so's we could get in; there'd been a lot of snow up this way. Once't we was inside, it looked to be in good shape; just a couple places the chinkin' needed replaced, but the chimney and fireplace was in good shape which was important. We went out and dug out his firewood and carried some in to start a fire. We had to dig down inter the pile as the wood on top was kindly damp. We set and warmed up by the fire for a spell before we went back out to start clearin' `round the porch; we at least wanted a place to stand to piss. `fore it got dark, we went out to where there was as stream a little ways off from the cabin and Henry dug up some clay so's we could fix the holes in the chink back at the cabin whilst I gathered up some water. That first night we was so wore out there weren't no sexin' I just rolled up agin him and went to sleep.
Early the next mornin' we set out to hunt some food. Right after first light we spotted a big buck deer and trailed `im till I could get a clean shot. That'd give up meat for a while. We butchered him up and hung `im in the little smokehouse by the cabin; once't Henry had the smoke goin' we took a break. We was sittin' by the fire all quiet, I leant my head over onto Henry's shoulder `n he snaked his arm `round me. Fellers, I ain't never felt such feelins fer another as I had fer him right then.
"Henry, I reckon I love you" I says to him real soft like.
"Je t'aime aussi" he says, in that foreign gibberish.
"Do what?" I says.
"I love you too, but you got to learn some French, mon amour" he says. I suspect it would be nice to know what them fellers was sayin' sometimes; I nodded. He turnt his head down and shoved his tongue in my mouth; I felt warm all over.
We was huntin' fer roots `n such later in the week when we spotted the footprints in the snow. In the places where it was packed down harder we could make out it warn't moccasins, it were from a cobbler made boot with a real heel on it. We follered the tracks till we come upon the man in the boots. He was about half froze, a big ole feller, all bundled up so he musta been out in the weather for days. Me `n Henry got under his shoulders and dragged `im back to the cabin. We got in just `fore dark and laid `im out by the fire. I threw on an extra log to warm `im up faster. The ole boy's leathers was wet as the snow `n ice melted so we commenced to pullin' then off'n him. He was `bout my size, but he didn't have much hair on `im. Other'n under his arms he was perty much smooth. He started stirring as I was pullin' on his pants leg tryin' to get him shed of them wet drawers. He grabbed `em and held on tight. I tried to tell `im he needed to get `em off so's he could get warmed up `n we could hang the clothes to let `em dry, but he warn't understandin' nothing I said. I looked at Henry and he asked the feller if'n he parley voo'd the fransay. `Un peu' the feller says. Henry goes into explainin' all the stuff I just tolt him `cept in French. I reckon it worked `cause he let loose of the drawers and let me get them off'n him. I couldn't help but look `n the ole boy had a nest of hair that looked like spun gold over top of a big ole white peter at least the size of Henry's if not bigger. Soon as I got them drawers off'n him he covered up real quick like with the blanket Henry handed `im.
The feller allowed as he was called Frodah, I chalked it up to them foreign folks not being able to talk good and figured that he was probably tryin' to say Fred, so that's how I called `im.
"Fred" I says "what was you doin' out there by yourself fer so many days?" `course, he didn't understand me so Henry asked `im agin.
He said him and his brother was huntin' when their horses got spooked `n then they got lost. His brother froze to death a day before we found `im. We all set quiet for a time, while we saw his shoulders jumpin' a little and he made sobbin' sounds. We didn't say much more that night, we just helped him into the bed. He watched us all wary as we come out of our clothes to get in the bed with him, one of us on each side. We moved in close so's to share our body heat and get him back to where he needed to be. After a spell, he quit shiverin' and we all fell asleep.
