From Chapter 2:
I walked to the door and turned the lock, and shut out the light. I turned around and was confronted by a small naked body with a very large protrusion jutting out from the front of it. I grabbed the protrusion, and said, "I think I will want a shower first, to wash off the salt and sand." I shed my wet shorts and pulled Luke toward the shower room. There was a shower room that was common to two of the rooms. I locked the other doors, and turned on a shower. There were three shower stations. We each took a station and washed off. It just did not occur to us to do anything in the shower! So we washed ourselves and when we were done, Luke came over and wrapped himself around me for the first time, nude! We were both wet and standing under my shower. I felt like I was going to go off just standing there.
He grinned at me, put his finger to his mouth, and just said, "Shhh". He unlocked the doors and pulled me into our room, locking the door behind us. It reminded me of that first time I saw Chris and Craig from the bathroom door at our house. Before that, even though I had experimented with Eddie and Mel quite a bit, it still did not dawn on me that I might be gay.
We went to the bed and lay down. We were both shy all at once. He started rubbing his Mr. Big, and so I followed suit. We did not take our eyes away from each others eyes for the whole time, until it was very soon that he started to moan, and this brought me to my height, and I to began making high pitched very quiet noises of my own. We shot all over each other.
I reached out and scooped up some of his from my chest and put it in my mouth, never taking my eyes from his. He did the same, and then got some more and put it in my mouth. We kissed deeply, and then snuggled together and fell asleep.
Chapter 3
We woke up about an hour later when the front door slammed, and we could hear the boys talking. We got up, cleaned up in the bathroom and came out to the living room. "Can we go to the beach?" Eddie said.
"It's a pretty good walk from here," I said. Luke and I are going down to the big house for some lunch. Have you eaten yet?"
"No, but Etta said we could come back and eat with you, whenever you came." Luke and I looked at each other and stiffled a giggle. "She chased us out of the theater. Said boys our age should be outside playing. I think she wanted to see a soap!"
"Never you mind deciding what you think Etta might be doing! She probably is making our lunch!"
We put on some dry shorts and went down and found Etta fixing lunch. I looked at Eddie and he shrugged. We ate lunch and after thanking Etta, we started for the door. "Wait a minute." Etta said. She handed us an ice chest with snacks and cold drinks in it. As we were walking out, Etta said, "You watch those little boys!" Eddie gave her a dirty look.
We all jumped into my car and drove to the beach. The sun was full overhead by this time, and it was hot. Luke put sun-block on me, and the boys did each other. (no, pervs, sun-block!) Of course Luke needed none, as he was practically black already.
We soaked up some rays until Mel asked if it was okay to go into the water. Eddie answered him: "Hey, baby boy, our mother is not here now! You don't have to ask!" I was sad that Eddie could not be a little nicer to his brother. And I didn't really want to let them go swimming alone, because I had no idea how strong swimmers they were.
"It's okay, Eddie," I said, "We were going anyway." I looked at Luke and gave him the "no arguing this now" look. So we all set out for the water. Both Luke and Mel hung back when they hit the cold water. So Eddie, taking his lead from me, as I tackled Luke, dunking him, took his little brother down. The problem was that Luke was my size, whereas Eddie was at least a head taller than Mel was. He took him down too violently and held him under too long. I finally had to drag him off. Mel was gasping for air and crying. "Eddie! You're hurting him!" I said.
"Hey!" Eddie yelled at me. "Don't fuck with us! This is my brother, and you can't tell me how to treat him!"
"YES! I CAN!" I retorted. "And as long as you're with me, I will!" I turned my back and heard Mel cry out. Eddie was 3 years my junior, but bigger than I was, and not only that, he worked out. When Mel cried out, I turned and Eddie gave me a "try and stop me" look. In a flash, Luke was next to him and had him in a neck lock he could not escape.
"What the fu -" Eddie started.
"Just shut your filthy mouth, you idiot!" Luke said. "I don't have any brothers, and I wish I did! You are away from your family and I can understand your anger, but don't take it out on your brother!" All this time, Eddie's head was securely locked in Luke's arm. He looked at Luke like, if it were possible he would like to kill him. He shook his head to try to get it loose, but was powerless to break loose from Luke's vice-grip hold. He got tears in his eyes.
"Lemme go!"
"Not until you promise to leave your brother alone."
"Aw, I was just playin' with him. I wasn't gonna hurt him!"
"You already DID hurt him. Promise you won't touch him any more?"
"Yeah! I promise!" He said, clearly letting us know it was under duress.
As soon as he was let loose, he stomped toward the beach, and out of the water. "Eddie! Come back. Can't we just start over and have some fun in the water?" He stopped without turning around. I knew how he felt. He was embarrassed and did not want to back down. I waded closer to him. "Ed, come back. I'm not taking sides against you. But you are just too big for your brother. Someone has to protect him. Remember how you felt about him when your dad attacked him?"
That struck a chord -- or a raw nerve, one. Eddie turned around. Tears were filling his eyes. He was just far enough away from the others that they could not see this. "Come here, Bud." I said, as I held out my hand. He took it and I dragged him under the water! He came back up like he was going to drown me, and with a will to do it. I whispered, "See? Now your brother and Juke won't see you were crying!" He looked surprised, then started to laugh and dunked me back. We walked back out and he said, "I'm sorry, Wee Willy!" This was a name he called him because until a year ago he didn't start puberty and was very "wee" in the "willy" department. Mel didn't look convinced of Ed's sincerity. Neither Luke nor I were either, but at least he was acting better.
Then Ed attacked me again, and dragged me under water, laughing. Luke, smaller but much more powerful, easily lifted him off me and threw him high in the air.
"That was COOL!" he said. "Can you do it again?"
"Me, too!" said Mel. Mel was closer, so Luke grabbed him and was about to launch him then stopped.
"Wait." Luke said. "Squat with your feet in my hands, Mel."
"K!" He did as he was told.
"Now as I launch you, spring up and you will fly farther." Luke said. At that, Luke let his powerful arms spring Mel up and away, and Mel pushed off at just the right time. Her flew a good 10 feet into, and about 25 feet away. He giggled all the way.
By this time, 15 year old Eddie was waiting by Luke for his 2nd turn. When he launched him, Eddie sprung in my direction, nearly hitting me. He started laughing and hugging me. That was so cool! I was laughing with him until he stared to squeeze me just a little too hard and humping me.
"Dude! Cut it out!" He looked embarrassed and angry again., but didn't try to leave again. I let it go, and apparently he did too. When we tired of the play, we went back out of the water and lay in the sun for awhile longer. It was time to go about when I could feel the sun burning a little too hot on my back. We went home, and up to our room. We all hit the showers together. There were four of us and only three showers. So I said, "Someone will have to share."
"I'll share with you!" Ed said. I didn't like this, in light of our earlier altercation, but it was better than the two brothers sharing, so I complied.
Then right there in front of Mel and Luke, as I bent over to wash my legs, Eddie said, "That position reminds me of old times, Seth! Wanna suck me off -- for old times sake?"
"Don't be stupid! You know I can't do that!" I said.
"It wasn't really a request, dickhead! If you don't, I'll tell your mom and dad everything -- and mine!"
I got up and just stood there, mouth agape! So were Mel and Luke! I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
"You know what?" I said, "We are not waiting to go home next week. We're leaving tonight -- no! This afternoon! As soon as we get out of the shower and can pack up!"
"Dude, you can't mean that!" He sounded desperate.
"Get out and get dressed and get packed! You'll see that I DO mean it! We will go first to my parents, then your mom!" He looked scared now! He in no way wanted to go back to his mom. His dad could come back any time and he was scared of him!
"Seth." Luke said, calmly. "Maybe we can wait until tomorrow morning."
I looked daggers at Luke but my look softened immediately when I saw his face. I paused and decided he was right. We ordered pizza to be delivered, watched a couple movies and went to bed. It was pretty a quiet evening. It was about midnight when we hit the sack.
Even with our earlier nap, Luke and I were tired enough that we just went to sleep, after a hug and a kiss. We were awakened about an hour later by cries coming from the other room. I don't think Chris and Craig heard it, because they were in the room furthest away from the boys. Both Luke and I got up and looked in the boys room. Eddie was on top of Mel, and was about to take him by force. I flipped the light on. Mel's nose and face was bloody.
Eddie looked over at us, then said to Mel, loud enough for us to hear, "You little fucker! I told you to be quiet!" Then he smashed his fist into Mel's face. Luke was on him in less than a blink of an eye! He grabbed him by the skin on his chest and slammed him against the wall. Ed's feet were dangling about a foot over the floor.
By this time both Chris and Craig were pushing in behind me, looking bewildered. Luke yelled at Eddie, "Let me tell you something, LITTLE BOY! You will never touch that boy again, do you understand?"
"Fuck you, shithead! You will be in Hawaii in a week and will not have any say at all what goes on here!"
Luke still had Eddie's chest skin schrunched up in his hand, and Eddie was still suspended, pinned to the wall. Luke slowly twisted his hand. "What did you call me?!" he said very quietly, but intensely.
"I -- I -- I -- let me -- let -" he started to whimper. Luke let go and eddied fell to the floor, and immediately scampered toward the door, only to be met by me, Chris and Craig. Luckily Craig got to him first. He picked Eddie up like a rag doll, and pinning his arms against him, held him still. He tried to wriggle loose, but Chris just held him. Finally he relaxed.
"Are you ready to stop struggling?" Chris asked him. No answer. "What -- what the - ? -- You smell like alcohol!" I looked around the room and spied an empty 2-liter wine bottle near the bed.
"Craig, do you remember how much was left in this bottle?" Chris asked.
"About half, as I can recall."
"This little bugger is stinking drunk!" Chris said. "Eddie, go sit on that chair," pointing to a chair on the far side of the bed. Mel scooted across the bed away from Eddie, toward me. I picked him up. He was naked, but didn't seem to notice. He buried his face in my neck. He had stopped crying, but was breathing pretty hard, and his little heart was racing. His face was still bleeding, so it was hard to tell if anything was broken.
"Mel?" I said. "Are you -- do you think your nose or anything is broken?" No answer. "Mel, are you okay?" No answer. He was breathing, albeit still hard and I could feel his heart beating fast on my chest. Craig literally jumped over to us. He carefully pried Mel's face from my neck and looked closely. He gingerly touched Mel's nose. When Mel did not wince or complain, he tried carefully to wiggle it.
"It's broken. And the little one is drunk too!" Craig announced. Once he said that, I could smell it. I didn't recognize it because I was not that experienced, and also it was wine, so the fruity smell camouflaged the alcohol smell. At this announcement, Eddie started to whimper again. "Chris, Seth and I will take this little one to St. Francis. You and Luke stay here with the other boy. He needs to be watched. He may try to run away if we leave him to himself."
"Are you sure you are okay to do this, Craig" Chris said. "You are supposed to see the doctor in the morning, you know."
"I'll be all right. Seth can carry him. He knows Seth. I looked at Chris, then at Luke. Then I looked at Eddie. The obstinacy seemed to be gone. It seemed to be replaced with fear. Even at the time I couldn't believe what I was feeling. I was feeling sorry for Eddie!
I held Mel on the way to the hospital. St. Francis was only less than ten minutes away, and Craig drove moderately. "I don't get it, Craig." I said.
"Don't get what?"
After seeing what Ed did to Mel -- I mean standing there and watching it, why do I feel -- sorry for Eddie? I mean I feel worse for Mel, but -"
"I know." Craig said. "I have been trying to put it all together myself. I think I have. You have to remember that these kids didn't come from a family like yours. The primary male role model was their dad."
"Omigod!" I exclaimed. "Eddie is acting exactly like his dad."
"Ed's dad probably also felt out of control. That's why he took out his frustration on his boys. Remember, it was Eddie -- and you - who saved little Mel here from further attacks from their dad. Well, Eddie got put in a similar position. With you he felt loved. And in your way, you did -- do - love him. He has been your friend for several years. Close enough friend that you shared things with him as with no one else. Now, all of a sudden, this was taken away from him. To him, you, being almost 3 years older, were about the coolest thing to happen to him. It made abuse from his father bearable."
"And yet he did not share that part of his life with me. He never told me about what his dad was doing to him -- regularly -- until his little brother was attacked."
I began to be worried that we were saying too much in front of Mel. But it occurred to me that he was 13, and he had some power of discernment. It may be good for him to know -- maybe understand -- what was happening in his life.
"He never told you because he was not proud of that."
Something just occurred to me. Mel had still not said a word. What if the hospital called in child protective services. Child protective services in California is a joke! Except it's not funny. "Mel?" I said. "Mel has Eddie ever done anything like this before?" Mel looked at me, but said nothing. He didn't shake his head or change expression. But he looked longingly at me. "Mel, this is very important." I continued. "If you don't talk, they will assume the worst. You need to talk -- first to me -- us -- and then to the people at the hospital. He just looked at me. His expression changed almost imperceptibly.
We pulled in the hospital parking lot. Craig got out and opened the back door for us. "Mel, can you walk by yourself. Finally he communicated -- something. He nodded. I took one hand, and Craig took the other. We walked into the emergency room. There were not many there, luckily, so we saw a doctor immediately.
Looking from Mel to Craig and back again, he said, "Hello, I'm Dr. Michaels. What seems to be the problem." Dr. Micheals looked about 30 to me. He was blond, but nearly bald -- at least at the front of his head. It made my groin jump a little when he spoke.
"This little guy got in a scuffle with his brother." Craig said. "I think he's broken his nose." Mel tried to hide behind me.
"And who clobbered you, son?" The doctor said to Craig, looking at his bandaged head.
"That's another story altogether, Doc. Let's just see to the kid here, k?" It wasn't said with any disrespect.
Dr. Michaels sat down and beckoned to Mel. With the doc down on his level, Mel was not as afraid. He edged out from behind me. The doctor said, "And who have we here?"
"Mel." It was the first thing Mel had said since he got hurt.
The doc gingerly touched his nose. Mel winced. "It's okay, son, I won't hurt you. There may be a little pain, but if I have to do anything big, I'll give you something to deaden the pain. Okay?"
Mel nodded. The doctor put his arm around Mel, and then with the other hand gently felt the top of Mel's nose with his fingers.
"OUCH!" Mel tried to jump back, but the doc held him securely. He immediately let go of his nose and patted his back. That's all I have to do, Mel.
Mel looked up into the doc's eyes and said, shyly, "That's all? I'm all better?"
"No, your not all better, Mel. Your nose is broken. But it doesn't have to be reset or moved, so we will not have to give you any anesthesia. I will have the nurse put a bandage on it, to hold it in place while it heals. That may hurt a little, but you're a big boy! I'm sure you will be able to handle it."
The doctor started to leave. "Uh, Doctor?" Craig said.
Dr. Michaels turned around. "Oh! I almost forgot about you! I'm so sorry!
Can -- can I do anything for you?"
"I have an appointment with a Dr. Michaels later on today. Do you know a Dr. Kepanokoma in Hawaii?"
"Doc? You mean Doc Kepanokoma?" He all of a sudden got very animated. "You know him?!"
"He treated me for this." Craig said.
"He was the top of my class at USC! He was a very special friend of mine! I have not seen him for years, though we do keep in contact. We called him "Doc" long before he was one, because he did everything right! How is he?"
"He looks pretty good to me." Something about the tone of Craig's voice even touched a nerve in me!
"What -- what do you mean, `pretty good'?" Dr. Michaels said.
Craig shrugged his shoulders and smiled weakly, as if to say, "You got me." The he blew me away as he said, "He looked hot, Dr. Michaels!"
"Wha -" Dr. Micheals started, then paused to digest what Craig was implying. "Do you mean to tell me that you're -"
"M-hmm." Craig said. He looked almost pleased as he said it. I felt out in left field. "And if I am not mistaking my instinct, so are you, right?"
"But -- but -- how did you -" the doctor stammered.
"You said you were Doc's very special friend'. He didn't tell us it was you, but he mentioned he had a very special friend' in med school. He used those very words. I guess I just put two and three together and came up with four. He came out to us -- I was on my honeymoon with his brother -- indicating me -- when I was hurt in a surfing accident. Doc fixed me."
"Wow! This is so exciting!" the doctor said.
"Well, Doctor Michaels," Craig started again.
"Call me Brian!" the doc said, warmly.
"Well, Brian, anyway, Doc said to have you look at this until it heals."
"Well, we don't seem to be very busy right now, mind if we push your appointment up to now?"
"I really wanted to -"
" -- bathe first? Heh! We are all alike in some ways, huh? Just let me remove this bandage. How did it happen?"
"I was learning to surf. I had just gotten up for the first time, when I got clobbered by a bigger wave, and was thrown into some coral."
"Ooo! That could have been nasty!"
"It was! It got infected. My partner was really worried. I was pretty much out of it when they took me to the hospital in Honolulu! This little Hawaiian guy, who was teaching us to surf, paddled me the almost quarter of a mile to shore. Even with me on his board, he paddled faster than my partner."
"Yeah, those Hawaiians can be very strong -- and big!"
"Not this guy! He's about the size of Seth there. But he is a powerhouse! We actually brought him back with us from Hawaii!"
"That's -- uh -- odd, isn't it?"
"Well, with all the hassle of the accident and all, we became pretty tight with him and -"
"And my brother decided to bring him home for me!" I said.
"You mean p your -- all - ?"
We all nodded. "Even the -" he motioned with his eyes to Mel.
"Who knows at his age." Craig said.
All this time, Brian was tending to Craig's wound. "Looks like it's healing perfectly! You are very lucky that you got Doc to treat you!"
"So, Brian, what happened between you and Doc?"
"Huh?"
"If you were so close in med school -- why did you -- uh -- break up?"
"OH! We were not lovers. Oh, we fooled around -- PLENTY -- but it was not like that. We were just buddies -- and we were very happy to help each other get off! It made it so much easier. Neither of us had a boyfriend all through school. We were happy to put that off until after. Too much studying! Since we were roomies, - well, it was convenient that we had each other for an outlet."
"Wow!" I said. "That is so cool!" Craig and Brian smiled at each other. I didn't like that. It made me feel so immature. Well I guess I was!
"So where do you guys live? All together?" Brian said
"N -- not exactly." Craig said. "I am from Cincinnati, and Chris -- that's my partner -- and Seth here are from Cerritos. We are staying with a family named Smith, here in Santa Barbara. It's kinda complicated, but anyway, Chris's Uncle Jake invited us to stay here while we attend the university."
"Jake. You mean Jacob Smith III? That Smith?"
"You know of them?" Craig said.
"Know `of' them? Duh! My little brother went to high school with Jake junior! They played sports together! What is Jake doing?"
"HE is in Vermont. An accountant or something."
"Vermont! That seems a little far away! There are plenty of accounting jobs right here in SB."
"They went there to get married. It's legal there."
"Omigod! You mean `Jake the Jock' is gay?" He was such a all-out star at everything he did! My brother didn't do badly, but he always felt in the shadow of Jake Smith! Are they -- is he -- out?"
"Well, yeah."
"Do you think he would mind if I told my brother?"
"Why don't you ask him yourself? They fly out here every chance they get. They have adopted two darling little kids from Russia. Gotta let them know Grandpa and grandma, you know!"
"Wow! Well, let me know next time they will be here. here's my private number. I promise I won't tell, but my brother is such a totally perverse bigot. He hates that I'm gay! He even once said that if Jake ever found out, he would dig a hole and crawl into it and cover himself with dirt!"
"Wow!"
"Come back in about two weeks. This Band-Aid is all you need now. You really don't have to come back, but just to be sure -- and I don't want to lose contact. Be sure to let me know when Jake will be in town! This is so cool!"
I laughed. They both looked at me then they started to laugh as well. Suddenly I didn't feel so immature -- or at least I didn't feel alone!
Notes: Another completely off-the-wall chapter. I warmed up to Dr. Brain Michaels pretty quickly. And you? Please send any remarks to Steve, s4d@hotmail.com. Thanks for reading. Love, Steve
