So what's this book about?
'Captured' is a fictional action/adventure/romance story set 2019 that ignores most current events (wars and politics). It is written to appeal especially to: foodies, gays/bisexuals/heteros, Boomers, wine drinkers, twinks, femboys, aviation enthusiasts, people on the autism spectrum, and their friends. This book takes the reader on adventures to distant lands, with flawed characters trying to succeed in life, sometimes not convinced they're doing the right thing because sometimes right versus wrong appears as blurry shades of grey too similar to tell apart.
To get an idea what this book is like review the key words list in this introduction, those words appear many times in this story.
Three young adults (Alex, Daniel, and Jennifer) from Texas became close friends in high school then went to college on a buddy-plan* to ensure college success and better jobs after graduation. The two young men were hired by the State Department to be Fugitive Capture Agents (FCAs) and were assigned to live at an embassy in Spain, then later on were transferred across the Strait of Gibraltar to the ancient walled city of Tangier.
One of the trio soon experienced family emergencies and had to leave Europe and the State Department, which moved the other two even closer.
Alex is assigned to a tiny store-front US Embassy satellite office in Tangier and is also asked to establish and maintain an electronic monitoring post in a 400 year old hotel building inside the old walled city. During his spare time he is asked to capture international fugitives in that region. Sometimes he uses secret chemical or biological weapons to kill fugitives (and others) when live capture appears too dangerous.
Notice: This book contains highly detailed descriptions of sex acts (homosexual and heterosexual), and the execution of fugitives and other really bad people without trial. If you are sensitive or easily offended you should never read any of my books. No person under the age of 21 should read this book.
Most of this story takes place around the western Mediterranean Sea. It might help if you had a map of that area with the major ports indicated because the main characters are constantly traveling. The most frequently travelled to cities are: Barcelona, Tangier, Madrid, Oran, Rabat, Tetouan, Monaco, Gibraltar, Tarifa, and Algeciras.
This story is 100% fiction. The places, events, and characters are totally fictional. Nothing in this story actually happened, none of it is real.
*Buddy Plans were more popular in the past, a common use was two boys in high school football wanted to go to college on football scholarships felt they might not succeed if they did college alone, so the university enrolled them and paired them together in classes, dorm room assignments, and in as many things as possible so they could study together and succeed as a team.

Chapter 01. Introduction:
Looking back on it I guess my parents did an acceptable job of raising me; at least my mother tried but completely forgot what high school was like by the time she turned forty. Mom tried hard to guide me to the beginning of Success Street. There's only so much parents can do to steer the life of the children, especially when a kid is born with special needs, like me.
You see during their younger years a special needs kid is a huge drain on the parent's spare time. They spend so much time doing basic stuff over and over they forget to do the more advanced teaching that guides some kids to college. They get the kid finally far enough to graduate 8th grade it seems like a huge accomplishment, especially after the other kids in the family were so easy.
The parents get burned out and wish their autistic kid was as easy as the others. After getting the special needs child to the point where he can take care of himself without constant supervision they sort of stop and take a break from being parents, which causes many special needs kids to fail during or after high school. My mother got burned out early on and my father totally stopped trying and became quietly hostile toward me.
My name is Alexander Ellis, I go by Alex (or Ahley). I was born in Texas, August, 1998. My best friends since forever are Daniel Davis and Jennifer Wilson; we're all practically the same age. All of us were born and raised in a southwest suburb of Houston, called Missouri City. Dan and I have older sisters that already left home for college and marriage. Jen has an older brother named Jeff, he's married and on his own too. I think she had another brother that died long ago, his eighth grade graduation picture is framed on the wall in their living room but they don't talk about him. I think something really bad happened to him.
I really got to know Jen in Sunday School during 2nd grade at the Presbyterian Church. Jen sensed I had something wrong so she usually did my coloring and painting assignments in Sunday School.
She was in some of my elementary school classes (even back in first grade) but we didn't talk much until we spent time working together in church. She was a loud and tomboyish curly red headed girl which made her unpopular with some other kids. In elementary school many boys see girls as being diseased mutants, but I saw Jen as being an ally so we became friends and learned to ignore each other's odd habits and interests. Jen's parents were conservative but she wasn't, she was a very free spirited girl despite being born to an upper-middle income family.
During elementary school Jen and I played together almost every weekend. We'd ride our bikes out into the woods and build forts and have dirt clod wars and we camped out in back yards and stole boards when new homes were going up and built an enclosed tree fort in the woods. Like I said she acted just like a boy and (like me) played with no shirt on when it was really hot outside. The only thing that was different was she had to squat to pee and I just aimed at something. We were often seen on our little mountain bikes, riding toward the woods, shirtless along the edge of the road. I'm sure we both looked like two little boys heading out on an adventure.
Jen was like the twin brother I never had. We were constantly together even if I forget to mention her in the story, just assume she's there too. That ended when college started, Dan and I were roomies but she lived off campus. We still saw her often on campus and she was in one of Dan's classes.
Daniel and I met freshman year at Hightower High School. When I first talked to him my initial impression was he didn't like me because he avoided eye contact and never had much to say. We went outside to smoke which was the only place we talked normally. People act differently when they huddle together outside smoking (especially in bad weather), kind of like refugees standing in line for their daily ration of rice. Smokers are outcasts so they tend to band together.
Daniel was like me; he lived with his parents and had an older sister who left for college last week. My older sister is already gone and only visits with her husband at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Because of the age difference my sister (Kim) and I were never close. I think Kim felt betrayed when Mom got pregnant again. Kim was in 5th grade when I was born.
My father is a hot-tempered man so I kept a safe distance. My father was an insurance adjuster and my mom was a librarian, they both graduated from college. I had no idea what to take in high school because I had no leanings toward a profession. She convinced me to take classes that would benefit me later in life, but my initial plan was to take classes that assigned less homework. We posted her list on my closet door and unless something changed that would be my plan for the next four years. Two years of Spanish (or French) is required in Texas, which I think is a good idea considering.
What I'm into most of all is true crime stories, they're like solving puzzles without the box-cover. But detective work is not a course taught in high school. Mom said I should take courses in computer programming, math, and biology because those can relate to criminal investigation.
So that was the short version of my childhood, but I'll explain more later. I should admit that I was an outdoorsy kid and was always on my bicycle looking for adventure and new places to explore. I was very naive about the dangers of being a free range kid and my parents were too pre-occupied to concern themselves, so maybe God protected us from child predators. Or maybe there weren't any in our town. I think lots of parents felt if their free range kid died they'd simply make another one. It's quick and easy making a replacement child, it's just a matter of timing.
Some kids in school called me 'Asperger!' because I was different, plus I didn't like the same stuff as most boys my age. Athletics was the biggest area where I failed miserably and was the cause of most of the bullying I received. I could not hit a ball with a bat or catch a fly ball even to save my life. Everyone assumed I was that way because I was a sissy or a fag, although I felt some attractions toward guys it was not the cause, something was actually wrong with my brain. I think bullying might have also been related to my generally awkward-lanky appearance. I wasn't repulsive looking but even I could tell something was also wrong with the way I was shaped. I had no trusted grownup to talk to about those things, and they taught me to never discuss things with anyone for any reason, except my most trusted friend (Jen).
I asked Dan one time why we never saw him in grade school and he confessed he went to Catholic school. Even back in high school he always had a sophisticated air about him. I think he impressed other kids just sitting silently in class but that didn't work well on girls. I could tell he probably never saw the inside of a McDonald's during his entire childhood. He always wore the latest styles to school, I wore what Mom could afford, my clothes came from Goodwill. She said I can't have nice clothes since I lived in the dirt.
As a child I could play all day alone in the woods in a dirt pile with my little trucks. I lived in my own world of construction with toy bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks, and little plastic Army men. I used a nippers to cut off the weapon parts so they could be construction guys instead of soldiers. The kneeling soldier with the bazooka became a surveyor.
When puberty started my entire world changed and Jen suddenly developed a much bigger interest in seeing me naked and showing me her parts too. She started puberty about 15 months before me, so I got a sneak preview. But her girl parts started to develop long before her first pubic hairs appeared.
Since we started wearing minimal clothes to go out and play in the summer heat we gradually got used to seeing each other semi-naked over several years. I eventually surrendered to her curiosity and let her touch and feel my body any time she asked. At age 11 I thought her lack of a penis and balls looked weird but over time I got used to the difference. She convinced me all girls looked like her parts and she sort of explained how babies occurred, then it started to make more sense.
We often played in the dirt in our shortest shorts in the summer heat. But our favorite dirt piles were usually in the shade, so we stayed cool in the 112 degree heat by being nearly naked all day in the woods. Let's be honest, there really isn't much difference in appearance between a 4th grade boy and girl above the hips. Since we looked almost the same I guess we figured we'd always look like brothers. As her breasts slowly started to grow she decided it was better to show them to me often, and make me touch them. Because we were inseparable best friends it never excited me sexually. She handled mine and I handled hers regularly, so it was no big deal to us. She told me if her parents found out they would hand her over to an orphanage. Then she hinted that was what happened to her missing brother too.

Author's note: If you meet a highly successful autistic adult their success should also be credited to numerous caring adults who spent time helping the child learn to function independently and then to go on to become successful. There were a lot of dedicated professionals and family members behind that person's success. I knew more than one `autist' in grade school who went to law school and passed the bar. How's that for dedicated parents, God bless every one of them.
