Can't Let It Go Chapter 11

Chapter 11

It was almost like a dream. After the football game was over, as the crowds dispersed, Zac and I headed towards my car. Jake, Ashley and the rest of the crew were heading over to Jake's house and we just told them that we would follow them. However, when we both got into my car, we couldn't help ourselves. One thing led to another and we ended up starting to make out in the backseat of my car. I was on top of Zac, caressing his hair and his face with my hand as we kissed. I felt his tongue in my mouth and my tongue was probing the corners of his. Zac then started tugging up on my shirt...

"Where were you guys?" exclaimed Ashley when Zac and I walked into Jake's living room. The rest of the crew was there eating snacks, and drinking beer. Karen who was sitting in Bryan's lap started giggling when she saw us walk in together but then stopped when Zac gave her look.

"I just ran low on gas and so we had to stop at the gas station and fill up the tank," I replied hoping that my lie would cover us for now.

"Well, grab a beer from the kitchen and sit down," said Jake as he lifted up his can of beer.

"I'll get one for you," Zac said to me as he left my side and headed towards Jake's kitchen.

I went over and sat down on the sofa near Jake and Ashley.

"Now where were we?" exclaimed Ashley. From her voice, I could clearly tell that she was slightly drunk.

"Spin the bottle!" said Karen. "No, truth or dare!"

"I don't think we should play truth or dare, remember what happened last time?" said Bryan holding on to Karen's arm so that she didn't fall off his lap.

"Let's play strip poker than!"

Zac returned from the kitchen with two beers. He handed me one and then sat down next to me on the sofa.

"This is insane, I think that they're all really drunk," I said to Zac.

"Yeah," he said laughing.

"Do you want to ditch them and go somewhere?"

Zac looked over at me and smiled. "What do you think?"

"Okay, but I think we need to tell these guys something first, if that's okay with you."

"Go for it and I already kind of told Karen and Bryan knows about me."

"Well, that explains all the looks she was giving us. And Jake and Ashley know about me so it's no big deal."

"Alright."

"Hey guys!" I exclaimed as I stood.

The room grew quiet and everyone looked at me.

"I just wanted to announce that Zac and I are officially going out..."

That's how we ended up on the beach late on a Friday night. We were lying on our backs on the sand, holding hands and staring up at the stars.

"So much has happened in this one week," I said aloud.

"Yeah," replied Zac.

"I never would have imagined that I would have ended up here on a beach with you at the end of it."

"Me neither."

"I'm glad we're together, Zac."

"Me too."

"And I'm glad you kissed me in the movie theater parking lot. I'm glad you had the courage to tell me how you felt."

"Yeah, I am too. I was nervous as hell but I knew if I hadn't I would have always kept thinking back and guessing what could have happened if I had."

"That's true. I hate those `what ifs'. I definitely wonder sometimes what if this had happened or what if that had happened," I replied.

I stared up at the night sky again. There were so many stars. Some were brighter than the others and some could be more easily seen than others. Just like people. I don't really believe in destiny or anything. However, I still end up wondering why some things happen and some things don't. Do things happen for a reason? My mind went back to Colin.

When I first saw Colin, I was amazed. I was amazed by him and by what I felt for him. Colin opened my eyes, so to speak. I won't deny that I really liked him at first but in the end, I guess it wasn't meant to be. I was now convinced that maybe liking Colin was just the path to finding Zac. I was content and happy to be with Zac. He's an amazing person and the more spend time I spend with him, the more attached I become to him. Now, I couldn't even think about not being with him. However, there always lingers that doubt about what would have happened if things had worked out with Colin. What if he had liked me in return and we had gotten together. Would I have been as happy with him as I am with Zac? There was no way to be sure but I couldn't help and wonder.

I turned on my side and looked at Zac. I reached out and caressed his face.

"You know, you are beautiful," I said softly.

Zac smiled. "You are beautiful too," he said turning on his side as well to face me.

I smiled and then softly kissed him on the lips. Zac then put his hand behind my shoulder and pulled me in for a longer kiss.

We made out on the beach for a long time. Luckily, it was really late at night and there was no one else there. It was just Zac and I. Just the two of us. Together.

To be continued...

What do you think? How do you like it so far? Let me know!
