The best thing about Fridays for Dom was also the best thing about Mondays and Wednesdays. The way high school in Durango was structured every student got to make their own schedules, complete with free periods, and the last two periods of Dom's day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays were completely free. As Dom walked out of the school building he noticed that Kyle's car was still parked exactly where it had been when he walked into school this morning, and Dom remembered that today he was going over to Kyle's house in just over an hour and forty minutes. While this individual thought should have invoked really no feeling in Dom, what it ended up invoking was a feeling of crushing fear. Dom always felt as if he was desperately treading water trying to keep his head from sinking, but thinking back to agreeing to help Kyle with his physics, Dom felt as if he had attached lead weights to his hands and feet, in the battle to at least appear to be normal, or at least acceptable in this communities standards. As Dominik reached his car he was almost panicking wanting nothing more than to call the too perfect Kyle and tell him to get help from somewhere else. It was hard enough trying to hide the fact he was gay from everyone without having to help the one person he was both infatuated with, but also hated. He was infatuated with Kyle because Kyle was a nice charming cute black haired, stunning blue-eyed boy who was the exact match of all the traits that Dom wanted in a boyfriend, but he hated him because he was never wrong, never bad, and never, above all else, anything but perfect. The way that Kyle knew everyone, the way everyone flocked to Kyle, the way Kyle never had to pretend to be anything he wasn't, the way he couldn't even offer Kyle help without Kyle finding someway to help Dom, it was all just too much. But Dom just kept walking, just kept going to his car, not trying to call anything off, because if he did, he would be more abnormal than everyone else, Dom would just suffer by himself, because he had to, because he couldn't be what he wasn't, perfect. As Dom pulled out of the parking lot he knew that he needed to get to his house and change. If he was walking into a study session with Kyle, at the very least he had to be in new clothes, with his hair redone. Dom's hair had a very annoying habit of never staying how he left it, it always got messed up, always moved until his hair looked like it had just been left alone since the last time he had it cut. Dom knew that if he was walking into hostile territory, even if it was hostile to him alone, he need to look as good as possible, and so with that goal in mind he took off to get changed and ready to face his one man firing squad.

Kyle's Speech class was just winding up, and he knew that he need to get home to get ready to meet Dom, so as soon as the bell rang, instead of stopping and talking with the his speech teacher like he usually did, Kyle rushed out to his car and took off, trying to beat the school buses out of the parking lot.

Kyle easily made his way out of the school, and in about five minutes he was pulling into his driveway, and rushing into the front door in order to clean up his room. Kyle darted up the stairs to his room; stopping only long enough to open the deadbolt he put on his door in order to insure a little privacy from his brothers. Kyle looked around his room and realized that he had a bit to do before Dom got here. The first thing he had to do was pull all his collages of cute boys off the walls, and stick them into the back of his closet, nestled comfortably behind the coats. Next, he went around his room efficiently collecting the various magazines sitting on the floor, starting with his XY's, moving to his Men's Health magazines, he even collected his climbing magazines, and shoved them all onto the top shelf in his closet. Finally, all Kyle had to do was pick up all his dirty clothes and shove them into the hamper, as he made a mental note to himself to do laundry tonight after Dom left. With his room looking clean, and he noticed that he probably had a few minutes to shower, and dress so that he would at least be comfortable when Dom came over, and with that, he slipped off to take his shower.

Dom automatically felt out of place just driving up to Kyle's house in his old trashy car. Kyle lived, of course, in the most expensive area of town, up on a little bluff overlooking everything. It was the kind of neighborhood that all the houses invariably had people who mowed the grass and worked in the yard for the owners of the house, because it was clear the all the houses were well maintained, and looked like they had all just had their grass cut today, the symmetrical lines ran up and down each yard, and the smell of freshly cut grass filled the air. And he felt as if his little clunker of a car was putting down the street spewing black exhaust from the exhaust pipe. The road twisted around, and began to lead out of this exclusive little community, and up towards one of the mountains that surround Durango as Dom pulled into sight of Kyle's house. This house put the little three-bedroom house that Dom lived in to shame; Kyle's house was at least two times the size of his house. But Dom knew that all he could do was pull up in his piece of shit car, and knock on the door, so he did. At first there was no answer, and Dom decided that he would ring the bell. Almost immediately after ringing the bell the door swung open, and there was Kyle, standing with a towel wrapped around his waist. "Hey Dom, come on in. I just need to pull some clothes on." Kyle said. "Yeah, sure thing" Dom responded reigning in his desire to stare at Kyle's beautiful, flawless chest. But had Kyle noticed the second delay in his response, Dom hoped not. Kyle turned around and walked away, running up a set of stairs off to the right side of the room. Dom noticed that there were a bunch of shoes sitting on the bench that was sitting right next to the door, so Dom decided to pull of his shoes, and nestled them safely under the bench in the nice row of shoes. Not knowing what else to do, Dom stood in the receiving area of the house. "Dom, feel free to grab yourself a soda from the fridge in the Kitchen, it's just straight ahead and off to your left." Kyle shouted from upstairs. So Dom did just that, went into the Kitchen and grabbed himself a Coke from the fridge.

When Kyle heard the knock on the door, he realized he had spent a few to many minutes in the shower, and he had no choice but to grab a towel and run downstairs to answer the door. As he pulled the door open though, it had been all Kyle could do to keep himself from staring. Dominik sure as hell hadn't been wearing that when he went to school today. From his tight black shirt, to his pants he Dom looked like something from one of Kyle's wet dreams, not like a friend from school. How was it possible that Kyle thought to himself that he had never really noticed Dom before, other than a cursory, oh that boys kinda cute? Kyle was discovering that he had a full-fledged crush on this boy, unfortunately for him though he lived in Durango. In Durango people just weren't gay, people were all just like everyone else, and the sooner Kyle came to terms with that fact the better everything would be for him. Maybe one day he could get out of Durango and meet someone, but until then he was fucked, to be alone, to be the one without any real feelings for girls, and no one to have real feelings for him. As long as he was in Durango he was doomed to be alone.

With that cheery thought running through his head, Kyle pulled on his Old Navy Cargo Pants, and his red Abercrombie and Fitch shirt, combed his hair, and walked downstairs to learn some physics. As Kyle walked down the stairs he felt like a real bastard. This was the first time Dom had ever been to his house, and Dom had no idea about what he could do Kyle thought to himself. With that he walked into the kitchen to see Dom sitting at the table reading the newspaper and drinking his soda. He was so cute, Kyle thought to himself, if only . . .

"Hey Dom, thanks for waiting, sorry, I took longer than I expected to get ready." Kyle said.

"Sure thing, so, what's up?" Dom calmly replied.

"Not a whole lot, just hanging out. Hey, before we get started do you want a tour of my house." Kyle hesitantly asked.

"ABSOLUTELY!!! I would love to see around this monster." Dominik jubilantly responded. "Awesome" Kyle responded, and with that the tour began. Kyle started by showing Dom the basement, which was the most entertaining part of the house. Filled up with a plethora of ways to entertain oneself, the basement was were Kyle and all his friends hung out when they came over, playing pool and generally bullshitting. Kyle noticed that Dominik's eyes had almost bugged out of his skull checking out all the electronic equipment, and it was no wonder, from the big screen TV, to all the DVD's in the room, down to the PS2 that was sitting in the corner, Kyle and his family had all the newest stuff that money could buy. But that was also Kyle's problem, because all he had was stuff, and no one to share it with, no one to hang out with other than this stuff when his family was out of town, or his friends didn't want to stop by. And what good was all this stuff when it didn't talk back, or have fun, or be cute; when all it did was sit in the corner.

But as Kyle and Dom continued the tour, Kyle got over being self conscious about all of the things he had, he just enjoyed seeing Dom's reaction as he entered the next room of things. Kyle couldn't imagine how he had managed to not really notice Dom before. Dom had always been in school class, and in his physics class, and numerous other classes, hell, Kyle knew Dom enough to say recognize him in the hallways, but why had he never noticed how cute Dom was, why did he not ever realize that Dom was just about the most lovely boy he had ever seen? It just didn't make any sense. So, as these thoughts ran wild through Kyle's head, he realized he was staring at Dom, so he lifted his gaze to check on Dom's face, and see if Dom had noticed the staring yet. As his gaze lifted, Dom meet Kyle's gaze, and realized that he must of noticed the staring. But they both quickly adverted their eyes, and Kyle decided that he hadn't, so feeling relived he suggested that they go upstairs and start work.

Dominik was amazed by the size of Kyle's house; it just kept going, with more and more rooms around every corner. The one thing that Dom was sure of was that Kyle wouldn't need to ever be made uncomfortable by visitors, because there were well over four guest rooms. The entire house somehow made Dom wonder where Kyle came from, and why his life was so good? Kyle had everything that Dom had ever wanted, money, clothes, surety, of both his well-being and his self; it was everything that Dom had wanted, from one end to the other. As Dom was lead through the house he just kept wishing that the world wasn't so unfair, because Dom felt screwed by all sides involved. Kyle was the nicest, cutest boy ever, yet totally unattainable, and every boy that was nice, cute and everything would never be attracted to Dom. He just wasn't what anyone wanted. So every time Dominik was challenged, and wanted nothing more than to just flirt, or let go and tell someone he was attracted to them he stopped, because they would either laugh at him, or they would attack him for being a "fag". The world just wasn't fair, but that didn't stop Dom from looking. In fact, that was what Dom spent a lot of his time in the tour of Kyle's house doing, looking at Kyle. He was perfect in every way possible, from his walk, to his house; to the cute way he explained everything. This was the first time Dom had ever felt comfortable in a huge house and the only reason he felt comfortable was because it was Kyle who was leading him around, and showing him the house. There was something about Kyle that just set him at ease, not worried about what environment he wasn't fitting into at the time. So as Kyle and Dom continued the tour, Dom got over being self-conscious about all of the things he didn't have, and just enjoyed Kyle lead him through the house. Dom barely knew Kyle, and his comfort just didn't make any sense and as the tour continued Dom realized he was staring at Kyle, so he lifted his gaze to check on Kyle's face, and see if Kyle had noticed the staring yet. As his gaze lifted, Kyle meet Dom's gaze, and realized that he must of noticed the staring. But they both quickly adverted their eyes, and Dom decided that he hadn't, so feeling relived he accepted Kyle's suggestion that they go upstairs and start the work. The night continued, and Dom and Kyle sat at the main table in Kyle's kitchen hashing out, and rehashing mathematical theorem in relationship to physics Kyle finally seemed to understand what Dom almost instinctively knew. It was at this point that Dom began to realize that Kyle wasn't really the "godlike" creature he had always imagined; it took something like four times before Kyle would even understand the most basic concepts that Dom tried to explain. This made Dom feel much better about his level of intelligence, while he would never really understand the concepts that Kyle talked about in relationship to almost every other subject, Dom felt affirmed by the fact that he understood more physics than Kyle did. The evening also provided ample time for Dom's infatuation with Kyle to grow; as Kyle edited one of Dom's papers all there was for Dom to do was sit off to the side and watch Kyle as his head was studiously bowed towards the paper. Kyle was all around hot, but he also had the smart kid thing going for him, especially with his cute, small wire-framed glasses. Kyle was everything Dom had ever wanted, but everything that had ever been unattainable. Finally, after Pizza for dinner, and literally hours of studying, and a short, well not really that short, break, midnight rolled around. Dom knew that his parents already wouldn't be happy with his absence, so he decided that he had to go. "Kyle, its been fun, but I should probably be getting back to my house." Dom stated. "I completely understand," Kyle responded, "but I haven't finished editing these last couple papers, so I think that I should keep them and finish them up." "Yeah, sure. That would be great, if you don't mind of course" Dom answered. "Not at all, but how do you want to get these back, should I drop them off at your house or what." "Well, I could stop by and pick them up." "That would be great, how about tomorrow, at like five. And if you want you could hang out over here for a little while. I think I am going to throw a little party tomorrow night, and you could always come to the party." And with that it was agreed, tomorrow at five Dom would come over and help Kyle get setup for his party, and then he would hang out for the party. As Dom walked out of the house he was excited and nervous; excited because he would be seeing Kyle, his brand new infatuation quite a bit the next day, but nervous, because he didn't want to fuck up and let anything ruin his new found friendship with Kyle. And as Dom entered his door he was resigned, he would have fun at Kyle's party, and drool over him, but in the end there was nothing that could come of it. With that thought, Dom climbed into his car, and pulled out of the driveway, looking forward to what the next day held. So that was the story so far, and write me to tell me what you thought. Cool, my address is freestylecheese@hotmail.com and I look forward to hearing from you.
