The best thing that could be said about the trustees' meeting was that it was over. Tedium, pretension and futility vied for the top spot. Everyone wanted to get their name into the minutes. Thankfully the important matters had been sorted the week before over a cup of coffee in the charity's office. The full meeting was only a rubber stamp confirmation to keep the funders happy.
Rather than being able to get back before the rush hour, it was now 'go home time' for everyone else, so I decided to kill time by going to a gay bar I know locally for a coffee and a look at the scenery. Margaret is OK with this as we haven't lived as man and wife for years, but then I haven't strayed either. We take raising a family seriously, over and above any wish for a one-night-stand or a quick affair. The last thing I want to do is to hurt our sons.

Tom and I have put out that we we're going to the cinema. As its our first anniversary of losing our virginities we plan instead to have a quick drink at the Blue Lagoon, now we're both 18, followed by dinner at Enrico's. We changed out of school clothes at Tom's, and those tight 501s I found in our loft fit me really well (according to Tom they do). Lucky Dad and I are the same height and Dad was 20 years ago my waist size -- he must have looked really hot, but I mustn't think like that. Dad will freak at me being gay, I just know all his "I love you whatever" stuff comes right out of a textbook. Anyway Tom looks great in his bike leathers, the soft leather bulging in all the right places, and his short biker jacket doing nothing to hide it. Oooh my, is that for me? The bike ride into the city behind Tom is great, 30 minutes of holding tight to my babe. When we park the bike outside the bar and clamber off Tom looks at me, sniggers "I'm flattered, but think of icebergs, I really don't want to hurt another guy hitting on you tonight. Anyway, I have plans for tonight!!" Great minds think alike. Tom is a great guy, I love him to bits, even if we'd never had sex (but the sex is great, because we really care what the other one is feeling and thinking -- good thing Tom is as bright as I am). We've been best friends for 14 years, all through school. In many ways Tom fits in to our family, and when his parents had real problems, Mum and Dad took him in for a while, just having four sons instead of three. Tom and Dad really get on, but sometimes Dad looks worried (he has a nervous tick affecting his right eyebrow) around Tom and I can't think why. We've both had friends who are female, but four years ago we both came to the conclusion that boys, not girls, lit our fire, in particular, each other. Tom is scared stiff about coming out, 'cause I know his mother is going to freak out, just like Dad. Anyway, two J2Os please, and here's to both of us. The bar is quite busy with guys killing time 'til the rush hour's over. Tom can be very funny and very evil over his descriptions of some of the local flora and fauna (and those aren't trannies by the way). I really like the way Tom's hand rests on my bum. Feels great.

It's a good thing that I dress down for these meetings, my good leather Jacket and slacks don't look out of place here. Having lost 20 pounds I'm getting into clothes I packed away 20 years ago. Wish I could find my favourite 501s, they looked just like those on that lad with the leather guy at the bar. Would that it were my hand over that back pocket. Damn it, those ARE my 501s -- I stitched up the tear in that pocket with sail twine. I wonder how they got on him, they really fit well, that biker's going to be in luck tonight!! Be fun to talk to young love. "What will you two....

Someone offering to buy? Oh my God, Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh this has to be a nightmare, but Tom's here. He's freaked too.

"Guys, I think the drinks are on me, and dinner too, and Nick, you should ask before you 'nick' your dad's favourite cruising kit."
