IV.
While Bob, Kim, Martin and I played off and on through last Summer; sometimes together and other times apart, the ensuing Fall, Winter and Spring was different. And while we gave both the guys excellent recommendations and letters of reference, we only heard from them once at Christmas. Their absence, didn't dampen the memories of the cum loads we got from those guys before they left August 22nd to return to school. I missed their funny ways of cruising guests.
We had mostly senior couples booked for Fall. They enjoyed the river and bus tours of the color changes. We hosted a large Halloween event for local Willsport kids and did a fund raiser for our local foodbank. At Thanksgiving, we held our custom Turkey Day Lunch for the public, then afterwards held another for all our employees and their families; a tradition my folks had begun and Martin and I just continued. We had a Santa Shows Up At Lake Thompson event and a repeat of Christmas Meals for the public and our staff, but aside from those events, once the senior tours ended, the club and marina were pretty quiet. Not so much that we were concerned, but it was much less traffic than we had grown used to.
The Winter event highlight happened quite accidentally. A gay couple had rented the guest house for a week last Summer and as we got to know them, learned they were members of a gay car club across the state line, about a 2 hour drive. Keith and Rick indicated they'd like to consider making a club driving event for a long weekend, if we thought it would be accepted and provide them a hassle-free event. There would be about 20 guys total and 12-15 cars. Most are couples but there are solo guys who would need rooms as well and wondered if we could accommodate that mix? We did the math and determined that at a minimum, they'd need 4 or 5 single rooms unless some of the singles would agree to double up and 6 doubles. We could cover 3 of the double occy rooms at the guest house, and 3 at high house for a total of 12 guests. Based on bookings being slow, I knew we could cover all of them at the clubhouse, but thought the guest and high house options were preferable. We settled on a fair single and double occy rate which they carried back to the club to present as a future club event. On October 2nd I got an email from Keith letting me know the club had voted FOR the long weekend event and asked if we could have a place to host a small car show as well? They were thinking about making it a February event, likely the first weekend in February, weather-permitting and wanted more details about room or late cancellation fees, etc. I gave them the requested info, asked about menu plans, suggested some businesses and other places of interest in Willsport and showed them pics of a spot for the planned car show. Martin and I blocked out the suggested long weekend on our booking calendar, finding only two other couples booked anyway; so we'd have ample room and hoped the other couples would be cool with the gay car club event. I then invited the guys back later in the Fall to finalize planning. They replied asking about availability the weekend after Thanksgiving and knowing the guest house wasn't booked, I offered them free lodging at high house or at the guest house at their discretion. They agreed to high house and we looked forward to some company that weekend, the one in advance of the Santa Shows event. They sent a copy of the club flyer announcing the event called Wild Times In Willsport, gave the date, activities, menu options, car show details, directions and booking rates and contact info. The event was planned, now we just needed room bookings to get finalized.
The Friday after Thanksgiving arrived, as did Keith and Rick for their comp stay. They showed up in a wonderful 50s Packard dark blue luxo sedan and we actually took pics of the car parked in front of high house for future advertising use. Martin is a real chef guru and we had Thanksgiving leftovers Friday night for dinner, did a classic movie night on the big screen in the den, with popcorn and theater seating. We and they'd had a full Thursday, then their drive Friday and so turned in fairly early. We had a great breakfast Saturday morning, did a boat tour around the lake, grabbed lunch at Mel's Diner, a real knock off of the old TV sitcom show and made sure it was listed as a possible event venue for the February Car Club. While Rob and his wife are a bit fuddy duddy, they fit the image of the diner staff and while Keith and Rick are not the butchest of guys in their 50s, they aren't fem types either. Once Rob's wife learned there was business potential to being nice to this gay couple, she dropped out of her rude bitch-self mode and warmed up. I never understood how either of them with their personalities, ever built a people-focused establishment like the diner, but they had. Actually they both are behind the register and in the kitchen, while the few waitresses are the ones serving up real humor, food and fun out front with the customers. I didn't want to relinquish too much potential meal business to Mel's vs our own kitchen, but did want the car club to have an option. The diner had old car posters on the walls, and car hop/drive-in pics on the menu covers and an operable vintage jukebox with 45s from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Martin and I figured we'd do a buffet meet n greet Friday night of the event; an optional breakfast buffet or menu offering Saturday and Sunday mornings, perhaps lunch at Mel's as an option Saturday, then have a catered dinner meal Saturday night and if they wanted to stay for lunch on Sunday order off our regular menu. Most would plan to check out Sunday anyway. Keith and Rick okayed our tentative event plans, then the 4 of us enjoyed the relaxed comp weekend and they took us around in the behemoth Packard which gained lots of interest in and around town. They left Sunday after breakfast with a handful of our business cards and "Around Willsport" tourism pamphlets.
While I wasn't interested in either guy sexually, both gravitated to Martin and they had a three-way Saturday night after the movie fest. It was my turn to shut down and greeted the three with early morning coffee and juice as they made their ways to the kitchen. Smirks and smiles bounced among those three and I just sipped my mug of coffee and OJ leaving Sunday breakfast to Marty. After they left, Martin admitted they were surprisingly fun in bed and that Keith is a really insatiable, power bottom. They were encouraging about a few of the car club members who might really get into 3 and 4 ways with us. More on that Car Club Event Weekend later.
