Marcus gave the man a second look..., realizing WHY he was asking!
"Yeah..." he answered [taking another deep toke on his cigarette]! "...but I needed someplace I could talk on the phone without disturbing the neighbors!" he explained!
The guy (Chris) nodded his head, understandingly! "What're YOU doing out here after dark...?" Marcus couldn't resist asking [flipping the question back on the man]!
