They had all gathered in Kevin's room. Brian had called and ordered room service since they'd all left the resturant without eating anything. It had been decided that this discussion could not wait so they dropped everything, paid the bill, and left. Aj had nearly passed out on the drive back to the hotel.

"Have you been to a doctor? Are you sure about this, Aje?" Nick asked.

Aj could only nod his head. He felt like the room was spinning. He had no control and he was so tired. This was not going as it should, he felt. The guys should be happy for him. But, they only seemed shocked, if not a little upset.

"How far along are you?" this from Brian, who lay sprawled out on one of the beds, watching Aj like a hawk.

"Seventeen weeks. Just over four months." Aj replied quietly. Surely the guys could see he needed rest? Nick had gasped quietly at Aj's answer, realizing who the father must be. Kevin flat out asked, however, never one to beat around the bush.

"Do we know the father?"

Aj nodded. Howie was pacing on the other side of the room, chewing on his lip.

"Who is it?"

"I'm not sure if he wants it out in the open, you guys. I'm not saying a word until I know where he stands."

Howie walked over and sat down next to Aj. Whispering so only Aj could hear him, he asked

"Do you want me to tell them? I don't mind them knowing. We're practically family. They've a right to know."

Aj nodded.

Howie sighed heavily before turning to the other guys.

"Um... Alex and I dated for quite a while. We never found a time or a reason to tell you. I guess we were a bit afraid of how you'd all react. But the baby is mine."

Brian lightly smiled. He'd always felt that Aj and Howie belonged together. But, Howie had said 'dated' which meant that they were no longer a couple. And the baby complicated things.

Even though Nick had assumed that Howie was the father, it still came as a bit of a shock to hear him admit it. He walked over and hugged first Aj and then Howie, letting them both know that they had his support.

Kevin sat, deep in thought, on the edge of his bed. Finally he stood.

"Guys," he started, addressing both Aj and Howie, "you know I'm here for you both no matter what. But we need to tell management and figure out some way of cancelling the rest of the tour without causing too much commotion. You don't need the stress of it, Aje."

"Don't baby me, Kev. We've only got two more weeks of touring. I'll be fine."

"Alex, he has a point. The stress can hurt you and our baby. At least consider what he's saying. We've six more concerts. The dancing, the stress, everything. Think about it. You're in no position to continue the tour. Please. I don't want to see anything bad happen to you. At least give up the dancing." Howie spoke calmly, his arm over Aj's shoulders, holding him.

"The press will have a field day if I do the rest of the concerts sitting down, and you know it. People are gonna start asking questions."

Kevin broke in, "So we tell them you broke your ankle or something. We'll handle it."

There was a quiet knock on the door. Room service. Brian got up and answered the door, wheeling the heavy cart into the room. Everyone loaded up a plate of food and again took their seats. Aj picked at the carpet next to him, nervous.

"Calm down. Everything's gonna be okay." Howie tried to comfort him.

"Aje, you should eat." Nick reminded him. He hadn't taken a bite of food yet. He curled up against Howie, who still sat next to him. He sighed lightly, rather content, despite his worry for the future of the band.

Howie kissed the top of his head and hugged him gently. "Everything will be fine. You'll see. You can move in with me. We'll work it out."

Aj knew he was right. Still, he wondered how the rest of the guys felt. Kevin seemed to sense his concern.

"Our feelings haven't changed, Alex. We're brothers, as we've always been. Howie's right. Everything will be okay." Brian and Nick nodded, both smiling at Aj. They were family. They could handle anything. Aj felt better. Howie was right.

"Are you guys gonna get back together?" Nick asked.

Aj shrugged, looking up at Howie with questioning eyes.

"We'll talk about it tonight. I promise." Howie answered.

Aj nodded, then decided he may as well try to eat something. Everything would be okay now, wouldn't it? ______________________________________________________________________

End chapter 5.

Yes, I know. Shame on me for taking so long to get this chapter out. But I was stuck. And that is the only excuse I have the patience to type this early in the morning (1:27am). Believe me, there are other reasons it has taken forever and a day.

Next: Chapter 6
