"Look, Alan, I don't love you." I murmured. His face was tear-streaked and I was just making it worse. "At least, not the way you love me."
Alan choked back a sob and nodded. Tears fell from his eyes, and soon he was sobbing like a little boy. I awkwardly patted his back. It seemed weird that a jock was crying over a loner that didn't even hang with his friends or anything. But Alan was a jock, and he did love me, and he was sobbing because I broke his heart by not loving him back.
Talk about drama. I gave him a kiss on the cheek to make him feel better. Alan gasped, but then his tears began to pour again and he was sobbing once more. I sighed, stood up, and left the jock there, crying. It hurt my heart to pretend that I didn't like him back, but that's the way it had to be.
"What the hell is your problem?!"
"OMG, like, seriously, John?"
"You need some help. You have issues!"
I was cornered by Alan's jock and cheerleader friends. They were all angry, and hot, too.
"What?!" I squeaked, and cleared my throat. "I mean, what? What did I do?"
Kelly snorted. "Oh, please, don't even pretend. I mean, like, you literally broke his heart!"
"Yeah, bitch," boomed Dave, the first guy. "He's fucking sobbing your name whenever we try to talk to him. Why can't you be gay or something? Alan pretty much loves you. He's come out to us fucking two months ago and we are okay with it."
"Yeah!" piped George, the last guy. "If you like him, too, just tell us so we can tell him. Oh wait, no, we can't, because you broke his heart and he won't listen to us! All he does it sob your name over and over again!" He gave me a nice fist in the stomach.
I winced.
"Leave him alone!" an angry voice bellowed. The voice sounded shaken. We all looked to the direction of the voice.
"Alan!" Kelly gasped.
"Leave the fucking boy alone."
"Let's go, guys," she whispered, and they rushed away to the cafeteria.
Alan wiped his poofy, red eyes and briskly walked over to me.
"Uh, sorry about that." He murmured.
"It's--"
The boy of my dreams hurriedly walked away, leaving me in a corner, shaking and surprised.
